  • How to parse HTML with TouchXML or some other alternative.

    Hi, I'm trying to parse the HTML presented below with TouchXML but it keeps crashing when I try to extract certain attributes. I'm totally new to the parser world so I apologize for being a complete idiot. I need help to parse this HTML. What I'm trying to accomplish is to parse each attribute and value or what not and copy them to a string. I've been trying to find a good parser to parse HTML and I believe TouchXML is the best I've seen because of Tidy. Speaking of Tidy, How could I run this HTML through Tidy first then parse it? I'm not sure how to do this. Here is the code that I have so far that doesn't work due to it's not pulling everything I need from the HTML. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.   • handling long running large transactions with perl dbi

    I've got a large transaction comprising of getting lots of data from database A, do some manipulations with this data, then inserting the manipulated data into database B. I've only got permissions to select in database A but I can create tables and insert/update etc in database B. The manipulation and insertion part is written in perl and already in use for loading data into database B from other data sources, so all that's required is to get the necessary data from database A and using it to initialize the perl classes. How can I go about doing this so I can easily track back and pick up from where the error happened if any error occurs during the manipulation or insertion procedures (database disconnection, problems with class initialization because of invalid values, hard disk failure etc...)? Doing the transaction in one go doesn't seem like a good option because the amount data from database A means it would take at least a day or 2 for data manipulation and insertion into database B. The data from database A can be grouped into around 1000 groups using unique keys, with each key containing 1000s of rows each. One way I thought I could do is to write a script that does commits per group, meaning I've got to track which group has already been inserted into database B. The only way I can think of to track the progress of which groups have been processed or not is either in a log file or in a table in database B. A second way I thought could work is to dump all the necessary fields needed for loading the classes for manipulation and insertion into a flatfile, read the file to initialize the classes and insert into database B. This also means that I got to do some logging, but should narrow it down to the exact row in the flatfile if any error occurs. Both these methods is just variations on the same theme, and both require going back to where I've been tracking my progress (in table or file), skip the ones that've been commited to database B and process the remaining data. I'm sure there's a better way of doing this but am struggling to think of other solutions. Is there another way of handling large transactions between databases that require data manipulation between getting data out from one and inserting into another? The process doesn't need to be all in Perl, as long as I can reuse the perl classes for manipulating and inserting the data into the database.

It's really weird because I didn't have this issue until this morning. All I did in the meantime was changing some layout-related stuff, but I don't see what is would have to do with this problem. I don't get it... Does anyone have a clue about how to fix this ? I need my DateChooser ! Thanks ! Laura EDIT - It seems that the problem is not caused by the DateChooser itself, but by the FormItem around it.     I have a problem here, when I select any of the 'father' checkboxes all the child checkboxes are getting enabled or disabled. So I need each father checkbox to affect it own child fieldset.     I must transform some XML data into a paginated list of fields. Here is an example.   • Advanced Regex: Smart auto detect and replace URLs with anchor tags

    I've written a regular expression that automatically detects URLs in free text that users enter. This is not such a simple task as it may seem at first. Jeff Atwood writes about it in his post. His regular expression works, but needs extra code after detection is done. I've managed to write a regular expression that does everything in a single go. This is how it looks like (I've broken it down into separate lines to make it more understandable what it does): 1 (?<outer>\()? 2 (?<scheme>http(?<secure>s)?://)? 3 (?<url> 4 (?(scheme) 5 (?:www\.)? 6 | 7 www\. 8 ) 9 [a-z0-9] 10 (?(outer) 11 [-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+(?=\)) 12 | 13 [-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+ 14 ) 15 ) 16 (?<ending>(?(outer)\))) As you may see, I'm using named capture groups (used later in Regex.Replace()) and I've also included some local characters (cšžcd), that allow our localised URLs to be parsed as well. You can easily omit them if you'd like. Anyway. Here's what it does (referring to line numbers): 1 - detects if URL starts with open braces (is contained inside braces) and stores it in "outer" named capture group 2 - checks if it starts with URL scheme also detecting whether scheme is SSL or not 3 - start parsing URL itself (will store it in "url" named capture group) 4-8 - if statement that says: if "sheme" was present then www. part is optional, otherwise mandatory for a string to be a link (so this regular expression detects all strings that start with either http or www) 9 - first character after http:// or www. should be either a letter or a number (this can be extended if you'd like to cover even more links, but I've decided not to because I can't think of a link that would start with some obscure character) 10-14 - if statement that says: if "outer" (braces) was present capture everything up to the last closing braces otherwise capture all 15 - closes the named capture group for URL 16 - if open braces were present, capture closing braces as well and store it in "ending" named capture group First and last line used to have \s* in them as well, so user could also write open braces and put a space inside before pasting link. Anyway. Question I would like my links to be replaced with shortenings as well. So when user copies a very long link (for instance if they would copy a link from google maps that usually generates long links) I would like to shorten the visible part of the anchor tag. Link would work, but visible part of an anchor tag would be shortened to some number of characters. I could as well append ellipsis at the end of at all possible (and make things even more perfect). Does Regex.Replace() method support replacement notations so that I can still use a single call? Something similar as string.Format() method does when you'd like to format values in string format (decimals, dates etc...).

  • Data munging and data import scripting

    I need to write some scripts to carry out some tasks on my server (running Ubuntu server 8.04 TLS). The tasks are to be run periodically, so I will be running the scripts as cron jobs. I have divided the tasks into "group A" and "group B" - because (in my mind at least), they are a bit different. Task Group A import data from a file and possibly reformat it - by reformatting, I mean doing things like santizing the data, possibly normalizing it and or running calculations on 'columns' of the data Import the munged data into a database. For now, I am mostly using mySQL for the vast majority of imports - although some files will be imported into a sqlLite database. Note: The files will be mostly text files, although some of the files are in a binary format (my own proprietary format, written by a C++ application I developed). Task Group B Extract data from the database Perform calculations on the data and either insert or update tables in the database. My coding experience is is primarily as a C/C++ developer, although I have been using PHP as well for the last 2 years or so. I am from a windows background so I am still finding my feet in the linux environment. My question is this - I need to write scripts to perform the tasks I described above. Although I suppose I could write a few C++ applications to be used in the shell scripts, I think it may be better to write them in a scripting language (maybe this is a flawed assumption?). My thinking is that it would be easier to modify thins in a script - no need to rebuild etc for changes to functionality. Additionally, C++ data munging in C++ tends to involve more lines of code than "natural" scripting languages such as Perl, Python etc. Assuming that the majority of people on here agree that scripting is the way to go, herein lies my dilema. Which scripting language to use to perform the tasks above (giving my background). My gut instinct tells me that Perl (shudder) would be the most obvious choice for performing all of the above tasks. BUT (and that is a big BUT). The mere mention of Perl makes my toes curl, as I had a very, very bag experience with it a while back. The syntax seems quite unnatural to me - despite how many times I have tried to learn it - so if possible, I would really like to give it a miss. PHP (which I already know), also am not sure is a good candidate for scripting on the CLI (I have not seen many examples on how to do this etc - so I may be wrong). The last thing I must mention is that IF I have to learn a new language in order to do this, I cannot afford (time constraint) to spend more than a day, in learning the key commands/features required in order to do this (I can always learn the details of the language later, once I have actually deployed the scripts). So, which scripting language would you recommend (PHP, Python, Perl, [insert your favorite here]) - and most importantly WHY?. Or, should I just stick to writing little C++ applications that I call in a shell script?. Lastly, if you have suggested a scripting language, can you please show with a FEW lines (Perl mongers - I'm looking in your direction [nothing to cryptic!] ;) ) how I can use the language you suggested to do what I want to do. Hopefully, the lines you present will convince me that it can be done easily and elegantly in the language you suggested.

  • Receiving Multicast Messages on a Multihomed Windows PC

    I'm developing a diagnostic tool on a PC with several Network Interfaces based on multicast/udp. The user can select a NIC, the application creates sockets, binds them to this NIC and adds them to the specific multicast group. The sending of multicast messages works fine. However receiving of messages only succeeds if I bind the sockets to a specific NIC of my PC. It almost looks like as there is a 'default' NIC for receiving multicast messages in Windows which is always the first NIC returned by the GetAdapterInfo function. I monitored the network with Wireshark and discovered that the "IGMP Join Group" message isn't sent from the NIC I bound the socket at, but by this 'default' NIC. If I disable this NIC (or remove the network cable), the next NIC of the list returned by GetAdapterInfo is used for receiving multicast messages. I was successful to change this 'default' NIC by adding an additional entry to the routing table of my PC, but I don't think this is a good solution of the problem. The problem also occurs with the code appended below. Maybe this new description will help to solve the problem I'm facing. I have two entity classes, Customer and CustomerGroup. The relation between customer and customer groups is ManyToMany. The customer groups are annotated in the following way in the Customer class. @Entity public class Customer { ... @ManyToMany(mappedBy = "customers", fetch = FetchType.LAZY) public Set<CustomerGroup> getCustomerGroups() { ... } ... public String getUuid() { return uuid; } ... } The customer reference in the customer groups class is annotated in the following way @Entity public class CustomerGroup { ... @ManyToMany public Set<Customer> getCustomers() { ... } ... public String getUuid() { return uuid; } ... } Note that both the CustomerGroup and Customer classes also have an UUID field. The UUID is a unique string (uniqueness is not forced in the datamodel, as you can see, it is handled as any other normal string). What I'm trying to do, is to fetch all customers which do not belong to any customer group OR the customer group is a "valid group". The validity of a customer group is defined with a list of valid UUIDs. Since a Customer can belong to multiple CustomerGroups, left joining the CustomerGroup will result in duplicated Customer objects. Hence the count(*) will give a false value, as it only counts how many results there are. I need to get the amount of unique customers and this I expected to achieve by using the Projections.countDistinct("uuid"); -projection. For some reason, as you can see, the projection will still result in a count(*) query instead of the expected count(distinct uuid). Replacing the projection countDistinct with just count("uuid") will result in the exactly same query. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? === "Problem" solved. Reason: PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair). I had a branch in my code and didn't realize that the branch was executed. That branch used rowCount() instead of countDistinct().

  • RadioGroup onCheckedChanged function won't fire

    First time/long time. My app keeps track of restaurant servers' shift sales to help them budget. In the activity that displays past shifts, I've created a RadioGroup under the ListView so the server can choose lunch, dinner, or both. I've implemented RadioGroup.onCheckedChangeListener, but onCheckChanged never gets called. I also tried an anonymous inner class as listener, same result. I tried to copy/modify code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/a/9595528 ...but when I added the @Override to the callback function, the Eclipse compiler gave me an error (not warning) that the method must override a superclass, and the quick fix was to remove the override. I'm pretty sure the signatures are correct, as they were made with Eclipse's autocomplete and implement methods facilities. I then followed instructions to move my java compiler from 1.5 to 1.6, and none of the above listed behavior seemed to change.     On the site I'm working on for my high school basketball team, certain elements don't work in Internet Explorer. The site is hermantownbasketball.com. The boys basketball sidebar should have nested drop down menus, one when you mouse over the team, such as "High School" and then another when you mouse over the grade under the team, such as 9th grade. This works perfectly fine in chrome, however, I can't get it to work in any version of Internet Explorer. Below is the part of the html and the corresponding css I am using.     In my app, I start an activity and then on button click, display an http url (using Intent - VIEW_ACTION) So when in the middle of the activity, if the user clicks the button called "Google", it opens up google.com in the browser. When I hit the back button, it comes back to my original activity screen. How can I get my activity to resume from where it left of? Thanks George

Most important results (most likely queries rather than anything that matches) 2. Match substrings 3. Problem is that there's no crossdomain or clientaccesspolicy that allows calls from my client at www.google.com/crossdomain.xml Question is: Will a call from a SL running out of browser, and in full trust still be classified as a crossdomain call?
