  • Suspended Laptop Cannot Wake Up - Ubuntu

    I've got an ASUS G73JH, and whenever I suspend it or hibernate it, it will not wake up. The screen stays backlight but is black. The fan remains running, however the HDD does not, not disk activity is noticeable (audibly (It's not a SSD)). I can't: Awaken it with the keyboard Awaken it with the mouse Soft power-off by pressing the power button Change virtual screens by pressing Ctrl-Alt-# Restart X by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace I have to hold down the power button and shut it down that way, and this seems a little unreasonable. Is there a place I could look for more detail as to what's causing this? Is there a known quick-fix to this issue? Nothing is logged as happening when the system is in "suspend" mode.   • Cannot install PC Tools firewall

    I am unable to install PC Tools firewall..It is fine up until after rebooting then the PcTools icon in the system tray hangs and indicates it is "initializing." I have waited 5 minutes and no change. I have tried multiple times.The Vista firewall was turned off prior to attempting to the attempted installation. Help!Thank You

  • Two Different nVidia Cards, One as Graphics, One as Physics - Possible?

    Hey guys, Soon I will have a brand new Geforce GTX 285 to replace my current 8800GT. Will it be possible to move my 8800GT to another PCIX slot, put the GTX 285 into the primary slot and use the nVidia software to make the 8800GT do physics? I have enough PCIX slots on my motherboard (4). The GTX 285 will take up 2, so the 8800GT should fit in the 3rd. If anyone knows if this is possible, I would be grateful to be educated!

  • My computer is not reading my PNY SD 1GB memory card

    I use a Kodak EasyShare C160 digital camera, a PNY SD 1GB memory card, and a Dell Latitude E5500 computer. I have had my camera for over a year and have always been able to transfer my pictures to my computer. Now my computer does not recognize my memory card and I get a message from the EasyShare software that says "Cannot get device information", although my computer does recognize the pictures stored on my camera's internal memory. Is there any way to access the pictures on my memory card, or are they lost forever?

For instance when I run a sha1sum of a file after a fresh boot it remains the same. However after a while I will start to get segfaults and from then on whenever I read this file I get a different sha1sum.   • Slow SSD Read on Server 2008 SP2

    Im using a Intel X25-M 80G with the latest firmware. on XP /w using IDE and WIN7 using AHCI I get read speeds up to 250MB/S. But when running it with Server 2008 SP1 or SP2 on AHCI, I get read speeds around 180MB/S. Ive updated drivers for 2008, tested with writecache on/off. Any input would be appreciated. thanks!

    My computer stopped working the other day, I came down and it was kind of chriping away then when I restarted it it only did the same thing, I unplugged everything not needed and it did nothing at all, I thought maybe powersupply but when I took cover off the green light on MB was on and powersuppy is making little buzz sound, but nothing happens when I turn com on other than the green light on MB flickers a bit, I checked memory in other com and it works fine, love to be able to fix with as litttle cost as possible, hope someone here can help...   • Dynamics CRM 2011 report view can't be changed?

    I am trying to create a report for our CRM system but I am finding that I cannot change the page settings for it. If I export it to Excel I can tinker around with the results but I would rather that I change the actual report than have users manually change it. While I want this changed I don't want to have to add some third-party software to do this. That said does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

  • raid 6 vs raid 10? which would you choose.

    my choice would be raid 6 for a file server since you can lose two drives and it does not matter which set of two can die. from what i understand with raid 10 you can lose two drives but if they happen to be off the same raid 1 then you are a out of luck? any suggestions? basic file server with about 200gb of data and it would act as a single point of backup for other workstations and servers. thanks in advance.

    I have a brand new installation of Jenkins 1.417 on Ubuntu 11.6, trying to talk to an active directory. I have the Active Directory plugin installed. If I leave off the base DN and password, the 'test' button claims success, while actual authentication fails. If I put in a user name and password on the domain, the test button fails (just as above). Is there some tweak required to the AD configuration to allow something like Jenkins to talk to it?

  • Why do some games randomly turn my screen a random solid color?

    When playing some games my computer will randomly have an error that I cannot fix without turning it off and back on again. The screen changes to one solid color, which varies (off the top of my head I can remember seeing solid green, magenta, etc..) and the sound blares a single tone. The sound sometimes briefly restores and I can still hear the game sounds and even hear and still be heard by people in my Mumble channel, but the screen doesn't right itself so I'm still blind. What's more is this happens in some games but not in others. While the game is actually running, not while I'm still in the menu. However, it does happen if I'm afk or idle but the game world is still rendering. Games where the error occurs: League of Legends World of Warcraft Trine The Sims 2 Dungeon Defenders Safe games: games where it has never occurred: Tribes: Ascend Star Wars: the Old Republic Battlefield 3 So relatively older games cause the problem while newer games do not? I cannot predict when it will happen, it just seems random. However, if it happens and I try playing the same game further after restart it does appear to occur more frequently after the first time. But if I switch to a safe game it doesn't continue happening. Both of my RAM sticks appear fine, flipped position or either one on their own and games still run, computer still boots. I would think over-heating, but then why not all games? ALso, sometimes it happens immediately after I start playing, within seconds of the 3D world booting up. I'm looking to upgrade very soon so I want to figure out what component or software is fubar and replace/repair it. Any suggestions or recommendations of tools would be helpful. Below is some system information. Dxdiag does not detect any problems.   • Corosync :: Restarting some resources after Lan connectivity issue

    I am currently looking into corosync to build a two-node cluster. So, I've got it working fine, and it does what I want to do, which is: Lost connectivity between the two nodes gives the first node '10node' both Failover Wan IPs. (aka resources WanCluster100 and WanCluster101 ) '11node' does nothing. He "thinks" he still has his Failover Wan IP. (aka WanCluster101) But it doesn't do this: '11node' should restart the WanCluster101 resource when the connectivity with the other node is back. This is to prevent a condition where node10 simply dies (and thus does not get 11node's Failover Wan IP), resulting in a situation where none of the nodes have 10node's failover IP because 10node is down 11node has "given back" his failover Wan IP.   • What is the best way to archive (spider) a site that is going to be removed?

    Three different blogs that I read have recently announced that they are going to be discontinued and removed from the web. Although the archived pages will probably be in Google's cache for a few weeks after they've gone and some of the pages will be in the Way Back Machine I'd like to archive those sites to my hard disk for future reference. What is the best way to do this? Is there any software that transforms a blog (e.g. Blogspot) into a chronological PDF?

  • juniper j2300 console connection?

    I've been given a Juniper Networks J2300 router, but I've never used a juniper device before and no idea where to begin on how to connect to the console of the device. I have a serial to RJ45 cable but not sure on how to connect to the device. Do I use specific software or just use something like minicom (linux hyperterminal alternative)? I've had a look on the juniper website and couldn't find anything :( Any help would be truly appreciated, cheers

  • Proxy Error 502 "Reason: Error reading from remote server" with Apache 2.2.3 (Debian) mod_proxy and Jetty 6.1.18

    Apache is receiving requests at port :80 and proxying them to Jetty at port :8080 The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server The proxy server could not handle the request GET /. My dilemma: Everything works fine normally (fast requests, few seconds or few tens of seconds long requests are processed ok). Problems occur when request processing takes long (few minutes?). If I issue request instead directly to Jetty at port :8080 the request is processed OK. So problem is likely to sit somewhere between Apache and Jetty where I am using mod_proxy. How to solve this? I have already tried some "tricks" related to KeepAlive settings, without luck.   • Forefront TMG vs pfSense

    Hi all, We currently run pfSense with no problems, however we are looking at TMG as it is included in our partner subscription to MS and allows Windows 7 DirectConnect features to our domain for off-site users. I have had a google, but there don't seem to be any comparisons of TMG to pfSense. Anyone have experience/knowledge of this? Our infrastructure is Windows Server 2008 R2 behind pfSense at the moment.
