• Config Time Service on Server 2008 DC using Group Policy Only

  I want to configure the Time Service using only GP in a Server 2008 R2 domain. I have created a GP as follows: Computer Config, Policies, Administrative Templates, System, Windows Time Policy: =Global Configuration Settings -Enabled w/ default settings. Computer Config, Policies, Administrative Templates, System, Windows Time Policy,Time Providers: =Configure Windows NTP Client -Enabled w/ default settings. =Enable Windows NTP Client -Enabled w/ default settings. =Enable Windows NTP Server -Enabled w/ default settings. The policy is linked, enforced and applied to Domain Controllers OU. The GP modeling results shows the policy is in effect on the DC (Single DC domain) and the DC is recognized as the PDC emulator. I have run gpupdate /force and logged off/on. The issue is that the DC shows the time source as internal. I understand I can force this at the cmd line using w32tm to set the peer but I would like to understand what is missing in the GP. The default NTP Client GP setting includes time.windows.com,0x9 as the source but it does not appear to be taking effect.

  I've Windows 2003 SBS and 40 CAL licenses for SBS. I also have Microsoft Exchange 2007 license for 2nd server which acts as front-end for Exchange (outbound/inbound emails come thru it and OWA works on it). Does it require separate CAL's for Exchange 2007 even thou SBS has all mailboxes etc?

• Exchange server listening on port 25 but clients dont recieve emails

  My exchange server is listening on port 25, that is I can telnet into it and send an email but Outlook 2010/2007, OWA, and ActiveSync are not pulling down emails. Outlook 2010 specifically says Connected To Exchange Server and Updating Inbox but it never updates the inbox. Also, OWA shows some of the newer mail messages, but when I double click on one to open it up in OWA, it times out. Any idea what could be causing this? Also Exchange Transport and Information Store are started. Thanks!

I I run Management Studio per right click 'Run as administrator', then 'MyDatabase' is accessible. Where & what should I set, to be able to access MyDatabase as normal user?

  Every once in a while i have to connect to a server where access is highly restricted. Only inbound SSH is allowed by the DMZ firewall - outbound HTTP connections are blocked. I'm looking for a good way to tunnel web access through my SSH session, so i can install updates and software via yum / apt-get. What do you do in such a situation? SSH has the -D <port> SOCKS proxy option. But unfortunately it is one-way only from client to server and there is no reverse option.

  In MySQL you have to authorized a user based on the name of the origin network. From my network to a remote one all connections appear as sent from mail.mycompany.com. But connections to another remote network it appears with a different origin. How to discover which name/ip it is using? I tried tcpdump and netstat in the destination but it is difficult to find my connection among billions of others. In my case the destination is a Windows Server 2003

• Directory permissions on Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS

  I have set up a second drive on Ubuntu Server. The directory displays correctly but Windows users cannot write or create files on the directory. I have Samba set up so Windows can access the drives. here is the last bit of my /etc/samba/smb.conf [personeel] path = /media/windows browsable = yes guest ok = yes writable = yes read only = no create mask = 0775 directory mask = 0775 I want the directory to be shared with writable permissions to everyone who can access the Ubuntu Server. I have tried sudo chmod but to no success. Any help would be appreciated

• IIS FTP server not working after purchase of SSL certificate

  I've been connecting to my web server with active mode in FileZilla with no problems. Over the weekend, an SSL certificate was dropped into a folder that I access with FTP, and which contains files for the website. Now I am receiving a 425 error in active mode on the FTP root, so I can't really do anything but log in. In passive mode, I can connect and move around in the directory tree, but the connection seems shaky. Occasionally I'll time out, and I can't get access at all to the folder containing the SSL certificate. My question is how does the SSL certificate affect my FTP connection (if at all)? Does its presence demand the use of FTP over SSL? Note: As far as I know, the only change which occurred was the placement of the SSL certificate. Firewall settings, FTP client and server settings should all be the same as before, when everything was working.

In particular things I need/want (most important first) are: A server daemon that runs on Linux without kernel modules Clients work from behind NATs and Firewalls. Free/FOSS Support for PPTP, L2TP or L2TP/IPSec PSK/CRT A architecture that makes all accesses equal: if the server is to have access to the VPN, then it must be a client. Just like everyone else. Minimal configuration/state. The first 3 are must haves and the last is a nice to have. The rest I could live without, but then again I could also live with nothing.

• Exchange Server 2010: move mailboxes from recoveded and mounted edb to user's mailbox [closed]

  One of our exchange servers crashed, and I am trying to recover the mailboxes. We had 1 exchange 2003 server named "apex" and 1 exchange 2010 server named "2008Enterprise. the exchange 2010 server named "2008Enterprise" crashed. I created a new exchange 2010 server named "Providence". I ran the command on Providence: New-MailboxDatabase -Recovery -Name JBCMail -Server Providence -EdbFilePath "c:\data\Exchange\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0579285147\Mailbox Database 0579285147.edb" -LogFolderPath "c:\data\Exchange\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0579285147" this command executed and finished without error I then ran the command: eseutil /p E00 this command was executed from the below directory: c:\data\Exchange\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0579285147 I then mounted the JBCMail with the mount command note: I do not have my full typed command. Inside my Exchange Management Console (EMC) I can view the new mailbox database named JBCMail. The JBCMail database is show as mounted on the exchange server named Providence. I can see the crashed Exchange server named 2008Exchange. In the EMC the crashed exchange server states the Copy Status under ServerConfiguration-Mailbox is ServiceDown. From here I need to recover three mailboxes The mail boxes are on the apex server. How do I move the mailboxs from apex to Providence? How do I restore the mailboxes from JBCmail mounted database to the user's mailbox? I do not fully understand how to use the Restore-Mailbox command because when I use this command it tries to restore the mailbox to the dead apex server.   Hi, I am wanting to implement a multi-server specialised hosting environment. I currently have a cloud solution comprising of 3 centos boxes (2 lamp web servers, 1 mysql). What I am wanting to do is, implement a 5 server solution where they is 3 web servers, 1 mysql box and a fileshare. Basically I want the fileshare to host all the web files for the servers, the caching will remain on the individual servers and the sessions will be stored in mysql. So what I am asking is how do I map the servers to share the same "docroot"? Is it NFS? if so whats the best way about doing this? Thanks in advance.

• Delete data from a MSSQL standby database?

  Is it possible to delete data from a read only standby database that imports shipped log files? At least in my theory this shouldn't be possible because the deletion would change the LSN and the log shipping should break. What I need is a smaller sized database than the database that ships the logs. So basically I need a way to have the (readonly) standby server storing only the most recent data. Any ideas or recommendations on this?

  I have an openvpn server behind two wan interfaces: eth1 and eth2 where eth1 is the default gw and eth2 is where openvpn binds to. The problems my ovpn server is replying back to ovpn client via the default gw (through eth1) and the tcp negociation is lost before establishing any tunnel. Here's what's happening: wan client -----> eth2 ----> openvpn -----> eth1 ----> lost and not delivered back to client Is there a way to tell ovpn to stick on eth2 and consider it for all traffic ?

  We're currently using Cleo LexiCom as our server software for receiving EDI transmissions via the AS2 protocol. We have 7 trading partners per year, and this runs us about $800/year for support from Cleo. We need to expand from 7 trading partners to 10 or so, and Cleo charges roughly $600 per new host, plus an expanded yearly support fee. My question(s) are: Does anyone know of a cheaper developer of AS2 server software, and perhaps one that doesn't charge per new host? Does anyone have any clue why we are being charged an upfront fee for new hosts, and if this is a standard practice for AS2 software providers? It seems really odd that we are required to pay upfront costs for this. I could completely understand an increase in the yearly support, however.
