    Hello, I have an ecommerce website that works in a classical way: people sign up, buy a product with their CC. It uses the default Django auth system for users and registration and session framework. Now I want to implement a referral system to my system where people can invite other people by giving their referral link (ie mysite.com/referral/123123/ ) and if a person signs up AND buys an item, the inviter gets 5$. How can this the implemented ?

Like why not just pass the username and password through the parameters instead? Is it more secure to do it like the way the guy is in the tutorial verus just using passing it through as parameters? As long as something fits RAM it's fine - once it's too big it gets ridiculously slow (in many different scenarios). There are only so many ways one can avoid hitting disk - so the question is - does Amazon or some other cloud provide SSD option?

  • TFS 2008 Build and deploy to Inetpub web folder

    I have TFS2008 and have a build running, however, I want to automate the deployment of the build folder and place the build into the inetpub folder it belongs to. I.E.: Run Build After Build, automatically place the new built solution into Inetpub/wwwroot/websitefolder I have tried xcopy, robocopy and synctoy 2.1 and I cannot get any of them to work. Can anyone at all please help me with this dilemna? Thank you in advance

  • How to simulate postback in nested usercontrols?

    Hi all, I'm doing an asp.net application with one page. In this page, I have one usercontrol defined. This usercontrol has a menu (three buttons) and 3 usercontrols defined too. Depending on the clicked button one of the three usercontrols turn to visible true or false. In these three usercontrols I have a button and a message, and I want to show the message "It's NOT postback" when the button of the menu is clicked, and when the button of the usercontrol is clicked the message will be "YES, it's postback!!!". The question is that using property "IsPostBack" of the usercontrol or the page the message will never be "It's NOT postback" because of the clicked button of the menu to show the nested usercontrol. This is the structure of the page: page parent usercontrol menu nested usercontrol 1 message button nested usercontrol 2 nested usercontrol 3 I know it can be done using ViewState but, there is a way to simulate IsPostBack property or know when is the true usercontrol postback?   • Converting from SQL Server 2000 to 2005 for ASP.NET web App

    Hi there, I'm moving my ASP.NET website to a new provider. Only problem is, old host support my SQL Server 2000 db. New host only supports SQL Server 2005. How should I go about the conversion ? Can I simply produce a backup of the 2000 (.bak) file at the old host, and restore that file into SQL Server 2005 at the new host ? Or is there more to it ?? Note that I don't own a copy of SQL Server 2005 at home... and I'm trying to avoid having to do so. Thanks, Bazza

  • How to reuse a dropdownlist each row of a table instead of rebuilding it.

I thought that I could just create one dropdown list and then reuse it in each new row, but the table only ends up with one row unless I create "new" dropdownlist. Am I approaching this all wrong?     If open yahoo finance chart in IE, the chart will be resized to fit the viewing window, and making the chart viewable without scrolling down. However, this makes the chart become smaller for me. I would like to see original size, which requires me to click the setting bar and change something to make it restore original size. The chart shows original size in Chrome. Is it possible to view original size in IE by passing some parameters in url? I was trying looking into source code but found nothing.

  • Hotkeys in webapps

    When creating webapps, is there any guidelines on which keys you can use for your own hotkeys without overriding too many of the browsers default hotkeys. For example i might want to have a custom copy command for copying entire sets of data that only makes sense for my program instead of just text. The logical combination for this would be ctrl+c but that would destroy the default copy hotkey for normal text. One solution i was thinking about is to only catch the hotkey when it "makes sense" but when you use some advanced custom selection it might be hard to differentiate if your data is focused, if text is selected or both. Right now i am only using single keys as the hotkey, so just 'c' for the example above and this seems to be what most other sites are doing too. The problem is that if you have text input this doesn't work so good. Is this the best solution? To clarify I'm talking about advanced webapps that behave more like normal programs and not just some website presenting information(even though i think these guidlines would be valid for both cases). So for the copy example it might not be a big deal if you can't copy the text in the menu but when ctrl+tab, alt+d or ctrl+e doesn't work i would be really pissed, cough flash cough.

    Dear all, I have read the Blackberry documentation and it is possible to push a notification from a webapp. I am planning to create a Blackberry application that compliments to our webapps. But I am still left in the middle whether to develop a webapp or native Blackberry app. I have also look at how a webapp runs on Blackberry browser and it looks smooth. From your experience does the native app offer something that the webapp doesn't? Bonus question, is Facebook and Twitter app on Blackberry a native app or a webapp?
