• Struts and logging HTTP POST request body

  I'm trying to log the raw body of HTTP POST requests in our application based on Struts, running on Tomcat 6. I've found one previous post on SO that was somewhat helpful, but the accepted solution doesn't work properly in my case. The problem is, I want to log the POST body only in certain cases, and let Struts parse the parameters from the body after logging. Currently, in the Filter I wrote I can read and log the body from the HttpServletRequestWrapper object, but after that Struts can't find any parameters to parse, so the DispatchAction call (which depends on one of the parameters from the request) fails. I did some digging through Struts and Tomcat source code, and found that it doesn't matter if I store the POST body into a byte array, and expose a Stream and a Reader based on that array; when the parameters need to get parsed, Tomcat's Request object accesses its internal InputStream, which has already been read by that time. Does anyone have an idea how to implement this kind of logging correctly?

  I am trying to query the following registry key values: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SharedMemoryOn HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SuperSocketNetLib\ProtocolOrder But depending on which machine I'm running the program the query returns null.   Hi friends, To make the query simple first we can take example:- If we open the explorer in our Windows desktop how it shows us the tree. As we keep on clicking the tree it get expanded and shows the file in it. The same way I want to show a explorer which gets expanded as the user clicks on it(I want to get the business logic the UI is simple). The information of the explorer i.e. which folder has what files come in a XML format to me. I have 2 options of getting the XML either I can get the whole XML at one query(but I guess this might slow the application if the XML is quite big). OR I can get the XML for every list like first only the root structure then if user clicks on any folder in root I can get the list(the files or folders inside that folder) of that particular folder. Now the question is What would be the approach to implement both the method and which would be the best. Should I need to create some dictionary to maintain the link of the files like which file is inside what. I am not able to get as how I would be able to link all the files. Any hint or direction would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

• Read and write from a byte stream if the endianess of the data is different from that of the current

  I have a stream of bytes which contains a flag which identifies the endianness of the data in the header. I want to read the doubles from the stream, which will presumably need to be different if the endianness of the data in the header is different? I am currently using a BinaryReader and calling ReadDouble to read the data from the stream, but if the endianness flag indicates that the data stream has a different endianness than the machine architecture then presumably this will not work? How should this be handled? Should I check the endianness of my data against that of the current machine then when I want to read a double instead read the bytes raw into a byte array and do array.Reverse to reverse the data before using BitConverter.ToDouble () with the reversed data and a zero offset? I could just test this but I do not have a source of data for both endianness so am a bit concerned about creating test data to test the parsing and this being different from what 'real' data might look like.

  I downloaded the Web Deployment Project plug-in for Visual Studio 2005. I installed it. I have a project that I am working on that is a Web Application Project. The Add Web Deployment Project Build menu selection is not in the Build Menu or Solution Explorer. If I create a raw test Web Site Project, the menu item magically appears. Is this by design or am I missing something. Also, I am completely up to date on all the VS 2005 updates.

  Hello everyone, I have a SWF file which contains of an image (1keyframe) and also, it contains an AS3 file with the following codes: var loader:Loader=new Loader(); var ur:URLRequest=new URLRequest("1.swf"); loader.load(ur); addChild(loader); so basically, i am trying to play the swf file (1.swf - an audio) while the image is being displayed. What I want to know is how will I be able to publish this project into an SWF file which can still play as expected even without the raw 1.swf file. I can publish SWF right now but when I delete the 1.swf file, my generated swf can only display the image. Help me please. Thanks in advance :)

• Searching a list of tuples in python

  I'm having a database (sqlite) of members of an organisation (less then 200 people). Now I'm trying to write an wx app that will search the database and return some contact information in a wx.grid. The app will have 2 TextCtrls, one for the first name and one for the last name. What I want to do here is make it possible to only write one or a few letters in the textctrls and that will start to return result. So, if I search "John Smith" I write "Jo" in the first TextCtrl and that will return every single John (or any one else having a name starting with those letters). It will not have an "search"-button, instead it will start searching whenever I press a key. One way to solve this would be to search the database with like " SELECT * FROM contactlistview WHERE forname LIKE 'Jo%' " But that seems like a bad idea (very database heavy to do that for every keystroke?). Instead i thought of use fetchall() on a query like this " SELECT * FROM contactlistview " and then, for every keystroke, search the list of tuples that the query have returned. And that is my problem: Searching a list is not that difficult but how can I search a list of tuples with wildcards?

  Can someone confirm or clarify for me: From what I can tell, JEE web apps consist of a Servlet and/or JSP driven dynamic web page being fed back in the HTTP response, triggered by the JEE server receiving a HTTP GET or POST request. From what I can tell, JEE web services also make use of Servlets as the web tier components, however a WS Servlet receives a SOAP message and validates the contents of those messages with whatever WSDL the Servlet is WARed with. The response is also packaged in SOAP and sent back to the requestor. So, from what I can tell, both JEE web apps and WSes use Servlets as the web components, with the only real difference being the protocol used (raw HTTP vs SOAP, which is an extension of HTTP). This is the best I could come up with - am I right? Totally wrong? Close?

My intentions is use the tool for a way to quickly generate and test the XAML (of XPS documents) with the intention of then generating the same xaml in code and programmatically generating an XPS document.   How would I design an API to hide the asynchronous nature of AJAX and HTTP requests, or basically delay it to provide a fluid interface. I am guessing that a well designed API like this should work like a query builder (think ORMs) where each function call builds the query (HTTP URL in this case), until it hits a looping function such as each/map/etc., the HTTP call is made and the passed in function becomes the callback. An easy development route would be to make each AJAX call synchronous, but that's probably not the best solution. I am interested in figuring out a way to make it asynchronous, and still hide the asynchronous nature of AJAX.

• UCMA 3.0 How to build a list of recipients and then broadcast an IM call to those recipients

  I am developing an application using UCMA 3.0 that will run as a service and send out periodic 'broadcasts' in the form of Instant Message calls. I have been using the book "Professional Unified Communications Development with Microsoft Lync Server 2010" and have everything provisioned fine and am able to establish an application endpoint. I am stuck on two aspects though. 1) How to get a list of all users of Lync? Everything the UCMA can do is centered on a single user. For example it allows me to retrieve all contacts/groups present on a given users 'contact list' but does not provide any means to query for a list of available contacts that could be added to one of those contact lists. On the MSDN forum I found this post which leads me to think my best bet is simply to query AD directly. 2) What is the best way to actually send a broadcast style IM? My working premise is to attempt something like what I've found in this code example (specifically the public void SendIM() method). So, get a list of recipients from AD, (looping on each on to check current presence?), and then use Automation to make the IM call for each recipient in the collection. Does that make sense? Do I need to check presence of the recipient or do I just optimistically make the IM calls irregardless of their current presence status? Can anyone point me to some working code demonstrating sending an IM broadcast? You would think this is probably one of the most common use cases however the SDK samples do not cover it.   I understand that in Python a string is simply an expression and a string by itself would be garbage collected immediately upon return of control to a code's caller, but... Large class/method doc strings in your code: do they waste memory by building the string objects up? Module level doc strings: are they stored infinitely by the interpreter? Does this even matter? My only concern came from the idea that if I'm using a large framework like Django, or multiple large open source libraries, they tend to be very well documented with potentially multiple megabytes of text. In these cases are the doc strings loaded into memory for code that's used along the way, and then kept there, or is it collected immediately like normal strings?

Here the name "key" of the first column is a key word. Now I am trying to get these column names into a combo box. I am unable to get the name "key". • GpsSatellite.getSnr() - What is the value range?

  I'm building a Sat-View that draws a small bar-chart for available satellites and their signal strength (or better: their signal-to-noise-ratio / SNR). The javadoc doesn't say what value-range to expect for the SNR. The NMEA-Standard says 0-99, but even in best conditions my G1 doesn't reach that value. I also read that different manufacturers use different value-ranges for the SNR, so is that true for android-devices, too? Or is there a unified value range on that plattform and if so, what is it? The lack of information in the docs leads me to suspect I just get the "raw" SNR from the driver, in which case I'd like to know: What do you think is the best approach to visualize that unknown value-range in a bar-chart?

• R heatmaps - non-text labels?

  I am making a heatmap plot; currently the axes are labeled by index number. However, the index number corresponds to a series of 1/0s, which my group typically represents with a row of filled(1) or unfilled(0) boxes (think chessboard, though not strictly alternating colors). I'd like to use that representation instead of the index numbers. Any suggestions? I've considered simply making the labels as a plot, and positioning that adjacent to the heatmap, but I'm not finding a convenient way to do that either. I will also appreciate answers that are more generically applicable. edit - current code: map <- data.matrix(read.csv("./heatmap.out", header=F, sep=" ")) # ...some clean-up p<-heatmap(map, Rowv=NA, Colv=NA, col=grey(10:0 / 10)) this simply labels the heatmap rows/cols by index number. heatmap.out is raw numeric data.

• Linq to SQL case sensitivity causing problems

  I've seen this question, but that's asking for case-insensitive comparisons when the database is case-sensitive. I'm having a problem with the exact opposite. I'm using SQL Server 2005, my database collation is set to Latin1_General_CI_AS. I've got a table, "User", like this: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[User] ( [Id] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Name] [nvarchar](max) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Example] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [Id] ASC ) ) And I'm using the following code to populate it: string[] names = new[] { "Bob", "bob", "BoB" }; using (MyDataContext dataContext = new AppCompatDataContext()) { foreach (var name in names) { string s = name; if (dataContext.Users.SingleOrDefault(u => u.Name == s) == null) dataContext.Users.InsertOnSubmit(new User { Name = name }); } dataContext.SubmitChanges(); } When I run this the first time, I end up with "Bob", "bob" and "BoB" in the table. When I run it again, I get an InvalidOperationException: "Sequence contains more than one element", because the query against the database returns all 3 rows, and... SELECT * FROM [User] WHERE Name = 'bob' ... is case-insensitive. That is: when I'm inserting rows, Linq to SQL appears to use C# case-sensitive comparisons. When I query later, Linq to SQL uses SQL Server case-insensitive comparisons. I'd like the initial insert to use case-insensitive comparisons, but when I change the code as follows... if (dataContext.Users.SingleOrDefault(u => u.Name.Equals(s, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) ) == null) ... I get a NotSupportedException: "Method 'Boolean Equals(System.String, System.StringComparison)' has no supported translation to SQL." Question: how do I get the initial insert to be case-insensitive or, more precisely, match the collation of the column in the database? Update: This doesn't appear to be my problem. My problem appears to be that SingleOrDefault doesn't actually look at the pending inserts at all.

  Hi guys, NSXMLParser is giving me the following error: "Error 65, Description: (null), Line: 1, Column: 47" I've checked the documentation, and it says that a space is required at column47??. Was hoping someone can help out on this? The raw xml file is as follows. • How to get all active parameters in ASP.NET MVC (2)

  Hi! I was wondering whether there is a way to create an ActionLink or similar, that changes only a few parameters of the actual query, and keeps all the other parameters intact. For example if I'm on an URL like http://example.com/Posts/Index?Page=5&OrderBy=Name&OrderDesc=True I want to change only the Page, or OrderBy parameter and keep all other parameters the same, even those I don't yet know of (like when I want to add a Search parameter or something similar too). The header of my current action looks like this: public ActionResult Index(int? Page, string OrderBy, bool? Desc) and I'm only interested in the values that this controller "eats". I want however that when I extend this action (for example with a string Search parameter) the links should work the same way as before. Here is what I did already: Create a new RouteValueDictionary and fill it with everything from RouteData.Values Problem: This only fills the parameters that are used in the Routing, so all other optional parameters (like Page) to the controller are lost Add everything from HttpContext.Request.QueryString to the previous dictionary This is what I am currently using Problem: It might have some junk stuff, that the Controller didn`t ask for, and it doesn't work if the page was loaded using POST. You also don't have any ModelBindings (but this isn't much of a problem, because we are re-sending everything anyway) Use HttpContext.Request.Params Problem: this has too much junk data which imho one shouldn't add to a RouteValueDictionary that is passed to an ActionLink So the questions: Is there an RVD that has all the data that was passed to the Controller and was used by it? Is this solution good, or are there any caveats I didn't think about (mainly in the context of changing a few query parameters while keeping the others intact)? Is there a way to filter out the "junk" data from the Params object?

• Setting Sql server security rights for multiple situations

  We have an application which uses an instance of Sql Server locally for its backend storage. The administrator windows login has had its sysadmin right revoked, and instead two sql logins have been created; one for the application with a secret password and one read only login we let users view the raw data with. This was working fine until we moved on FileStreams, which requires intergrated windows authentication. So now the sql server logins must be replaced. As a result, I am now reviewing all of our logins but I am not sure how it is possible. It seems that the application needs full read/write access, yet I still need to lock down writing to the tables so the user cannot login into the database and delete data randomly. Does anyone have any tips for setting multiple levels of security using intergrated windows logins, or can you direct me to any further reading?
