• Is it safe to install Compiz Experimental Plugins 0.1.1 on Maverick?

  Does anyone have these plugins installed? • Out of Memory when building an application

  I have quite a major problem with my Multimedia Fusion 2 game. I finished it months ago, however, the only thing keeping me from finally compiling the game into an executable file is this error message that pops up every time I try to, simply saying, "Out of Memory". Its highly frustrating to be halted at this point by this message, and I tried everything I could come up with to fix it including compressing the runtime and sounds and increasing the proity of MMF2 all the way to realtime in the task manager. Im begging someone to toss me a bone on this problem, and any advice at all would be much appreciated.

• Ubuntu on AMD based Sony Vaio VPCY B15AG

  Last week I bought a AMD E350 (AMD Fusion platform) based Sony VAIO (VPCYB15AG) having AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics, I removed Windows that came along with and installed Ubuntu 10.10 (AMD64) using USB drive. During installation my touchpad was not working, I managed through keyboard, but after completing installation & restarting the machine still there was no touchpad support. Also there's no proper graphic card drivers. Even I tried connecting the USB mouse to it but the left key is not working and had to configure the mouse as left-hand to get the left click enabled. I tried searching for any possible solutions for these but found nothing helpful, is there any hope? What should I do to enable i) enable touch pad support ii) get higher resolution 1366x768, etc?

• Sharing internet to Ubuntu 12.04 VMWare guest

  Got the 12.04 distro and installed this on my Mac VMWare Fusion (Version 4.1.2). Install went fine and Ubuntu seemed to update itself during the install. Rebooted and now I cannot get Ubuntu to access the internet via my Macs Ethernet connection (Connected to a router) Have tried settings the VMWare network adaptor to NAT or bridged and Host only without success. In Ubuntu I have the eth0 set to Automatic DHCP. VMWare tools is installed as well. I know next to nothing about what to do here and net searches on both Stackoverflow and Superuser sites are producing not results for me. Could someone please help? What to eventually have Ubuntu run in the background as a development web server running Zend Framework and CE Server edition but need thew internet access to run updates etc on Ubuntu. Any help would be really appreciated. TIA John

• Best Way To Develop Robust Cross-Platform Application?

  Windows C programmer here (going back to 1992 and Windows95 back when it was called Windows93). Can function in C++, but mostly still a C programmer. Looking to build a cross-platform casual game. Very numbers heavy with only a few artistic embellishments and animations, so perhaps a development environment for business apps might be the best option. Or an easy-to-use 2D game dev platform. Target platforms: Windows, Mac, MS Tablet, iPhone, iPad, Android. I currently develop on Windows with Visual Studio 2012, but we could spend up to $50K on hardware/software/middleware if necessary. Not very competent getting open-source software working. Would rather pay the money and jump right into app development. Recommendations?

  I'm quite new to Ubuntu, and I don't know how to fix this: I have been experiencing the problem with window decorations that go away. I have been told that I could correct that with compiz fusion icon, just restarting the graphics whenever it happened. This solution only fixed the problem for like 30 seconds. Then I found out that the command inside the window decorator had changed, so I only had to reset it to default (/usr/bin/compiz-decorator). The only problem is that it keeps changing the command by itself once or twice a day. I can live with that, but I would like to find a more permanent solution, if there is one. I am running Ubuntu 11.10

• Window manager not loading when gnome-classic starts

  When I boot up or log into gnome-classic (no effects), windows don't have the frame around them that has the minimize and close buttons and all that. After that, there all sorts of issues - for example, when I open a new window, it's in the very top left corner, obscuring the menu on the gnome panel... just a whole bunch of minor annoyances. I can get things working by by loading the compiz fusion icon and then selecting to reload the window manager. Of course this is less than ideal. How do I get the window manager to load automatically? Update: It seems that I get no window manager whenever I load Compiz, even after logging in. So it looks like the problem is more generally with Compiz's window manager.

  SharePoint, WCF and Azure Trainings: more information I’m one of those weridos who lives in a Mac+PC world. I write code for both iOS and Windows platforms. I also travel quite a bit, and airlines and airport security are starting to weigh your carry ons, and beginning to frown on the powerplant of batteries you need to carry to power SharePoint on an airplane. This means, my main work machine has to be a Macbook Pro, since it is the only machine that can do both XCode and Visual Studio Virtualized and SharePoint virtualized nicely. The problem this causes of course, is you will literally pull your hair out when dealing with keyboard/shortcut differences. • Raspberry Pi + Azure + Mobile App

  Ongoing project idea. So this is of long running personal interest to build a Mobile App that shows you a push notification/pop up alert, when anyone calls your house phone. So I've taken delivery of a Raspberry Pi. I've ordered a new Crucible Technology Caller ID Box. (arriving soon). I have been writing/learning Python to implement the Listener software. This will in turn push xml messages up to Azure for final delivery via push notifications to an App. iOS app already written to receive the notifications/allow address book additions made up from phone numbers from incoming calls.   I need a scenario for a small dialog-based game / interactive story. The game would be used as an example for a middleware tool we're developing. I would like to buy an existing story (it should be dynamic of course — with branching dialogs etc.), or hire someone to write a new one. Please advise, where to go to find such person / service? We're based in Russia, so getting a talented enough native English writer locally is a bit of a problem. Update: To be extra clear: We must get all necessary rights to reuse the story and make a derived work (i.e. the game we're talking about) from it. This is a commercial product. Borrowing someone else's work at random and using it just not going to work.

• VMPlayer does not flush all outputs to serial port

  I am debugging a Linux kernel in the VMPlayer on Ubuntu 12.04 configured a serial port to a file to see the debug information. However, each time when the kernel panics, only the backtrace stack were printed out instead of all the booting messages. This does not happend on VMPlayer Fusion. • How to get differents backgrounds for each desktop working properly?

  I've followed all the instructions for getting differents wallpapers for each desktop. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10. I've installed compiz-fusion-plugins-extra to add Wallpaper plugin on my Compiz Settings Manager (ccsm). But unfortunaly I cannot get my wallpapers working properly. I follow these instructions http://ubuntuguide.net/different-wallpapers-on-each-workspace-in-ubuntu and I just get a black background. Everything works fine after I press Win+P (I don't know what is this shortcut, refresh output I guess) or switch between ttf1 and ttf8 (ctrl+alt+f1 and ctrl+alt+f8). I tried reboot but the problem persist. What can I do to resolve this issue ?

• Compiz Error After Emerald Install

  Salutations! So, once again, I fell to the allure of the window decorator emerald. Where, just like the first time around, (I know I know) upon attempting to back out of emerald to the safety of compiz I'm faced with a problem. Seemingly after several minutes or after opening Chrome any window that isn't maximised has it's borders removed (so there's no close, minimise and maximise etc buttons). I can get them breifly back if I reload compiz via fusion-icon. After a brief chat on IRC it appears compiz is crashing. • Cann't find shared folder anymore

  I use VMware Fusion under Mac, and I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 as virtual machine. Under Ubuntu, by "shared folder", I used to manage a common folder with Mac via /mnt/hgfs/myfolder. Under Windows, I have set up so that this folder is also accessible. But today I cann't find myfolder anymore under /mnt/hgfs in Ubuntu, while it is still accessible via Windows (and Mac of cause). I tried to restart the machine, reset the sharing settings, it still does not work. Could anyone help?
