Our application has several layers and ideally I would like to be able to dive into each web service request and see how much time was spent in each layer (server, sql server, etc...) Is there a tool that can help detect where are the bottlenecks ? Is that something that can be done using VS Team System Test Edition ?

    I'm really banging my head onto this one. I can't make the Custom Configuration to work with NUnit. It kept on failing to read the configuration file. I followed carefully this article: http://devlicio.us/blogs/derik_whittaker/archive/2006/11/13/app-config-and-custom-configuration-sections.aspx placed the references in the Unit test class App.Config, still everything failed. Is there some sort of a magic setting to do here?

  • How can I obtain the IP address of my server program?

    Hello! This question is related to another question I just posted. I'm prepping for a simple work project and am trying to familiarize myself with the basics of socket programming in a Unix dev environment. At this point, I have some basic server side code and client side code setup to communicate. Currently, my client code successfully connects to the server code and the server code sends it a test message, then both quit out. Perfect! That's exactly what I wanted to accomplish. Now I'm playing around with the functions used to obtain info about the two environments (server and client). I'd like to obtain my server program's IP address. I'd like to be able to run the specs frequently but the JVM takes so long to startup it's becoming a real time drain.     We are performing a pen test on a simple asp application that uses MS SQL Database. It seems for the authentication they are using dynamic constructed queries but escaping single qoutes. When we use Unicode quotes like %uFFO7,%u02b9 etc we are able to successfully inject SQL injections. Want to understand is it more a kind of configuration issue of IIS server to cannonicalize Unicode characters or the way the validation function to escape single quotes is written is the cause of the problem?

  • How to determine whether or not a video format is supported

    Hi, I've had to write an application that lists and plays tutorial videos along with accompanying text. It works well but since the videos are added by the user I need a way of checking to see whether or not a video can be played on the machine. I'm not sure whether or not there is an easy way to try test the file (and catch errors) or if I need to start looking at codecs installed. Does anybody have any experience with this?

  • Android Mock Location locks GPS on status bar

    I created an app that uses mock locations to insert GPS coordinates. After removing the test provider via: mLocationManager.clearTestProviderLocation(mocLocationProvider); mLocationManager.removeTestProvider(mocLocationProvider); mLocationManager.removeUpdates(mLocationListener); When I launch google maps for example after exiting the app the GPS location is found and then never goes away. "Location Set By GPS" always remains on the notification bar even though my app is ended. Any ideas?

I'm just using the java.io.File package and there is a canWrite() method but that doesn't seem to test if the file is in use by another program. Any ideas on how I can make this work?

  • Does the .NET Framework 4.0 intaller installs .NET 3.5 as well?

    .NET 4.0 is meant to run side-by-side with 3.5 and won't run 3.5 apps, which is making me worried about having to instruct my users to download .NET 3.5 instead of just "the latest version". I've read in a blog that the 4.0 installer will install 3.5 as well if it's not already installed but I can't test it right now, did anyone try this or have an answer from a trusted source?

    Art of Test produced a nice UI testing tool for free -- WebAii Framework-- that I've been using to add client-side DOM unit tests to my projects. Recently they merged with Telerik and it's now a commercial product. From free to $1500 is suddenly very expensive. Does anybody know if the community edition is still available, or even the last free version is available for download? At least I can finish off with that.
