• How can I enable/disable network connection options programmatically

  When I open the properties on a network connnection on windows, I see this dialog: In this dialog, in the check-listbox I can enable or disable options like "File or printer sharing", "client for microsoft networks" or network filter drivers. My question is: How can I enable/disable these options programatically? I didn't find anything that looks like this in the WMI documentation and I couldn't find any other Win32 API for this. I would prefer a C Win32 API or WMI interface, but a solution using any programming language is welcome. The question is language-agnostic.

• How created method with signature as List

  Hi all, I'm very new to Java programming language so this is probably dumb question but I have to ask it because I can't figure it out on my own. Here is the deal. I want to create method which extracts certain object type from a list. So the method should receive List as argument, meaning list should contain either Object1 or Object2. I've tried like this : public Object1 extractObject(List<?>){ //some pseudo-code ... loop trough list and check if list item is instance of object one return that instance } The problem with declaring method with List<?> as method argument is that I receive compilation error from eclipse Syntax error on token ">", VariableDeclaratorId expected after this token. How do I set the method signature properly to accept object types either Object1 or Object2 ? Thank you

• efficient way to detect if an image is empty

  Hi, I need a very fast method to detect if an image is empty. Im my case then all pixels are white and transparant. The images are png's. My current method is to load them in a memory bitmap and check each pixel value, but this is way to slow. Is there a more efficient way? This is my current code: 'Lock the bitmap bits. • IIS6 + PHP + FastCGI 500 Errors - Where do I start looking?

  I've set up IIS6 with FastCGI to use php-cgi.exe. I have some php websites by external parties, that I'm trying to run in a test environment. One of the websites just plain gives me a FastCGI Error Page. Is there some way to enable logging somewhere so that I can get a bit more information on this problem? I have looked in - Eventlog - IIS Website log (c:\windows\system32\Logfiles) - PHP log But no results, except the IIS Website log mentions a return of a 500 page. Is there any other way to debug/check where things might be going wrong? Here is what the page looks like: FastCGI Error The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request. • Adding Street View controls (the two icons just above the +) to a Google Map (v3)

  It's probably something really simple, but I can't find it in the docs and I can't find a map with it to check it's source... I use version 3 of the API.   I'm using two tables. First (friendlist), which contains users who are on the list of friends and the other table (members) that contains the basic data of the users. Friendlist looks like: id | myid | date | user ----------------------------------------- 001 | 50624 | 2010-01-01 | 32009 002 | 41009 | 2010-05-05 | 50624 003 | 50624 | 2010-03-02 | 23007 The column "myid" contains members who added other users (those from column "user") to their frindlist. I want to get the list of all users that I have added to list and those who add me to their friendlist. In this example, if my id is 50624, the list would look like: | allfriends | --------------- 32009 41009 23007 Then I need to check all users from "allfriend" list with data from the table "members". I want to get only the users with status 1. The members table looks like: id | status | photo -------------------------------- 32009 | 0 | 1.jpg 41009 | 1 | 2.jpg 23007 | 1 | 3.jpg How this mysql query should look like? Thanks for any help.

• Most efficient way for a lookup/search in a huge list (python)

  Hey guys, -- I just parsed a big file and I created a list containing 42.000 strings/words. I want to query [against this list] to check if a given word/string belongs to it. So my question is: What is the most efficient way for such a lookup? A first approach is to sort the list [list.sort()] and then just use the if word in list: print 'word' -- which is really trivial and I am sure there is a better way to do it. My goal is to apply a fast lookup that finds whether a given string is in this list or not. If you have any ideas of another data structure, they are welcome. Yet, I want to avoid for now more sophisticated data-structures like Tries etc. I am interested in hearing ideas (or tricks) about fast lookups or any other python library methods that might do the search faster than the simple 'in'. In my web site I query my Blogger account and get blog posts to display on my web site. • CheckedState inconsisten in Treeview using Find Method

  Hello, I'm using a Treeview control in a .NET 3.5 c# project and I'm noticing inconsistencies in the checked property when I use the find method of the Treeview control. I'll check some leaves (nodes with no children) and then click a button. Inside the button click I'm using the find method of the treeview control to locate the node and interrogate the value of the checked property. On screen the leaf will be checked but according to the checked property of the node returned from the Find method its not checked. Has anyone else run into this? Thanks

• Is there a security issue with using javascript cookies?

  Hey guys, another quick question for the experts. I have an alert box that displays updates processed in php to the user just like this site. I want to make it so that if the user closes the box, then it will not pop up for another 5 minutes (unless they check the messages then it will not pop up because the entries that cause the pop up are deleted in the database). On the close of the box I was thinking of giving the user a javascript cookie, since the alert box is done in javascript. I was wondering if this was a bad coding practice, since I am kind of unfamiliar with cookies and was warned against them before. If anyone has any advice or can recommend a better way, I would really appreciate it.

  i have oracle11g desktop. For my project I create 3 databases via configuration assistant tools. Then I delete one of them and after this I have the error: ora-12560. By mistake both of my databases have the same pasword, for example: when i want to connect one of these data bases with system user, i have one pasword and perhaps the databases dont know connect which one. I start all services set oracle_sid=orcl. I run lsnrctl tnsping check tansname.ora & my listener.ora and I logon with sysdba@oracle_sid but i have this error again pleas help me tnx

  hi! in my website when session gets timed out nd after that we click on any button or perform action it gives random error as input string not in correct format.. how do i resolve problem?? i've 500 pages in whole website...and 20 master pages...so can't check for session on each page... i wrote code in global.asax application_error method...tht if error occur and session is null than redirect to default page..it worked....but when page is in frame..it does not refresh the whole pahe..only frame redirects the page...so the panel of master page remains same..

• Automated URL checking from a MySQL table

  Okay, I have a list of URLs in a MySQL table. I want the script to automatically check each link in the table for 404, and afterward I want it to store whether the URL was 404'd or not, as well as store a time for last checked. Is this even possible to do automatically, even if no one runs the script? ie, no one visits the page for a few days, but even with no one visiting the page, it automatically ran the test. If its possible, how could I go about making a button to do this?

  I have a Flex3 application which has to be capable of uploading multiple files and monitoring each files individual progress using a label NOT a progress bar. My problem is that a generic progress handler for the uploads has no way (that I know of) of indicating WHICH upload it is that is progressing. I know that a file name is available to check but in the case of this app the file name might be the same for multiple uploads. My question: With a generic progress handler how does one differentiate between 2 multiple uploads with the same file name? EDIT: answerers may assume that I am a total newb to Flex... because I am.

• Custom "Very Long Int" Division Issue

  Hey everyone, So, for a very silly project in C++, we are making our own long integer class, called VLI (Very Long Int). The way it works (they backboned it, blame them for stupidity) is this: User inputs up to 50 digits, which are input as string. String is stored in pre-made Sequence class, which stores the string in an array, in reverse order. That means, when "1234" is input, it gets stored as [4|3|2|1]. So, my question is this: How can I go about doing division using only these arrays of chars? If the input answer is over 32 digits, I can't use ints to check for stuff, and they basically saying using long ints here is cheating. Any input is welcome, and I can give more clarification if need be, thanks everyone.

• Javascript form validation/sanitizing do i need regex here ?

  I have a single form input that is for checking domains. Sometimes people type in www. before the domain or .com after the domain name. The service that i use to check availability automatically checks for all top level domains so when people add the .com at the end it becomes redundant. For example the string submitted is domainname.com.com which is clearly invalid. I understand you can do this on the server side but due to some rather weird circumstance i must use javascript for this. So is regex the solution here ? If so is there some kind of regex generator i can use for this or can someone point me in the right direction with a code snippet perhaps ? Appreciate any help thanks!

The way I have envisioned this working is by a naming convention for branches that regular developers cannot check code into. Following the SVN recomended directory structure this translates into something like. [project-name]/trunk/ [project-name]/branches/ [project-name]/branches/development-01 [project-name]/branches/development-02 [project-name]/branches/task-increasefontsize [project-name]/branches/release-01 [project-name]/branches/release-02 [project-name]/tags/ So in the authz file I would like to have something like the following [/] @developers = rw [/*/branches/release-*] @developers = r @senior_developers = rw However I can't find any evidence that SVN supports * (or any other wildcard character). Is such a thing possible or do I need a pre-commit hook?

  Hi, I'm looking for a tool that checks JS code, which can be integrated into a Maven build. I need a tool that will check for errors such as use of reserved words as identifiers trailing semi-colon, e.g. var obj = { a: 1, b, 2, } JSLint seems like a perfect candidate, but the problem is that it is too strict, because it also checks for various coding patterns which are (arguably) bad style, but do not actually generate errors in a browser. Examples of such issues include Disallow ++ and -- and Allow one var statement per function If possible, I would like the errors to fail the build, and I would like the other rules to only print warnings (or disable them completely). Obviously, I need the ability to specify which of the available rules I consider errors and which I consider warnings. Thanks, Don

• Why doesn't my binding update whenever EditingElementStyle AND ElementStyle are set to a custom styl

  In my Visual Studio 2010 WPF application, I have the following (simplified) style: <Style x:Key="MyStyle" TargetType="{x:Type CheckBox}"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Blue" /> </Style> If I use it as the ElementStyle AND EditingElementStyle in my DataGridCheckBoxColumn: <DataGridCheckBoxColumn Binding="{Binding IsEnabled}" ElementStyle="{StaticResource MyStyle}" EditingElementStyle="{StaticResource MyStyle}" /> Then my binding, IsEnabled, does not toggle when I check/uncheck a row's checkbox. If I remove either ElementStyle, EditingElementStyle, or both, then the binding updates no problem. Why is this?! Note: sometimes clicking around will produce an update to the binding (detected via debugging) - this is not the same as clicking another row to "commit" the value, though! Thanks!
