• Facebook status.get API throws 500 HTTP status code

  I have an APP that calls Facebook status.get method via the REST server - restserver.php using session key method. This app works fine for most of the users, but for one user I consistently receive HTTP 500 status code. Since this doesn't have any specific Facebook error message, it is almost impossible for me to debug this. Anyone faced a similar problem? What could be wrong with this user account? I checked the privacy options that I could think of and they look fine. Also, for the same user, I can use friends.get method without any problem. EDIT: I tried in Facebook forums as well, but it was of no use. Any pointers in the direction towards debugging/troubleshooting this problem are also appreciated.

  I've been reading up on foreign keys and joins recently, and have been pleasantly surprised that many of the basic concepts are things I'm already putting into practice. For example, with one project I'm currently working on, I'm organizing word lists, and have a table for the sets, like so: `words` Table `word_id` `headword` `category_id` `categories` Table `category_id` `category_name` Now, generally speaking this would be a one-to-many relationship, with several words being placed under a single category with the foreign key category_id. Let's assume for a moment, however, that a user chooses to add another category to a word, making it many-to-many—Is there a way to set up my words table to handle additional categories for words without creating extra columns like category_2, category_3, etc.?

• Hiding a value in an Android application

  Hi, I need to hide a value in a mobile (Android OS) application. As far as I can see, encrypting the value is of no use as the key to the encryption mechanism must be available to the program and is thus available to an attacker reverse-engineering the code. So, it seems that the only "solution" is to hide the secret value in the application as well as possible, obviously not ideal. Any comments? Am I missing something? If not, what's the best way to hide the value? Thanks for your ideas! Ewan

  Hi, Does anyone here have some experience with this error? Only If I use the WHERE clause, I get this error. I use php PDO to get the results. • Flex datagrid multiple rows single file

  Hi, I have a flex datagrid with 3 columns. The first column contains the image name(unique key). The other two columns have username and size details. I want to split the username into lastname, firstname, address and some other stuff. Can we have multiple rows in the grid for one image? Tried multi-line, it works but we need to keep adding spaces and its cumbersome. Since each row in the flex datagrid is represented by one index in the XMLList which is enumerated, is there a way to have more than one row assigned to one image and shown in the grid? something like this..   I'm trying to write a C#/.NET application that optimizes the hard drives for our XP workstations Set pagefile to "No paging file" Reboot Run a defrag utility to optimize the data and apps Create a contiguous page file Reboot, run pagedefrag from Sysinternals I'm really struggling with #1. I delete the following key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PagingFiles Upon reboot, the System Control Panel shows "No page file", but c:\pagefile.sys still exists and its in use by the SYSTEM process so I can't delete it and I can't optimize HD. I tried using PendingFileRenamingOperations and that bombs out too. I tried using WMI: Win32_PageFileSetting, but that only lets you set sizes (not zero--defaults to 2MB). Of course, if I do the manual steps outlined above, it works. I think I need an API call to make this happen.

• Is OO design's strength in semantics or encapsulation?

  Object-oriented design (OOD) combines data and its methods. This, as far as I can see, achieves two great things: it provides encapsulation (so I don't care what data there is, only how I get values I want) and semantics (it relates the data together with names, and its methods consistently use the data as originally intended). So where does OOD's strength lie? In constrast, functional programming attributes the richness to the verbs rather than the nouns, and so both encapsulation and semantics are provided by the methods rather than the data structures. I work with a system that is on the functional end of the spectrum, and continually long for the semantics and encapsulation of OO. But I can see that OO's encapsulation can be a barrier to flexible extension of an object. So at the moment, I can see the semantics as a greater strength. Or is encapsulation the key to all worthwhile code?

  Hi, Is it possible to allow users of my website to mark places on a map I display using Google Maps API? I need to then save that location coordinates to a db. I've been looking through the google maps API, I found that I can use the web service to do searches like this: http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q=Maine,+United+States&output=json&oe=utf8\&sensor=false&key=my_key But I am not sure it's working on a house number level (which I need it to) and I'm not sure how to display a 'did you mean?' to the user when he misspells the address..   Is it possible to perform a global reversed-find on NHibernate-managed objects? Specifically, I have a persistent class called "Io". There are a huge number of fields across multiple tables which can potentially contain an object of that type. Is there a way (given a specific instance of an Io object), to retrieve a list of objects (of any type) that actually do reference that specific object? (Bonus points if it can identify which specific fields actually contain the reference, but that's not critical.) Since the NHibernate mappings define all the links (and the underlying database has corresponding foreign key links), there ought to be some way to do it.

• How to fix rotations in a Rubik's Cube?

  I'm trying to create a Rubik's Cube in Flash & Papervision and i'm really stuck here. I'm up to the point where i can rotate any plane of cubes once, but after that...it's messed up because all local coordinate systems are messy. I dont really know where to go from here, can anybody give any advice on what do do? I'm not looking for 'read about transformation matrices', i know i should (and i am doing that), but i'm not really sure what to look for. My idea is that, after each rotation, i should fix each coordinate system of each cube again, but i have no idea how.   I'd like Jackson to deserialize a class with the following constructor: public Clinic(String name, Address address) Deserializing the first argument is easy. The problem is that Address is defined as: public class Address { private Address(Map<LocationType, String> components) ... public static Builder { public Builder setCity(String value); public Builder setCountry(String value); public Address create(); } } and is constructed like this: new Address.Builder().setCity("foo").setCountry("bar").create(); Is there a way to get key-value pairs from Jackson in order to construct the Address myself? Alternatively, is there a way to get Jackson to use the Builder class itself?

• python foursquare - SSL3 certificate verify failed

  I'm trying to make a userless request to the Foursquare API using Mike Lewis' Python wrapper - https://github.com/mLewisLogic/foursquare: client = foursquare.Foursquare(client_id=Client_ID, client_secret=Client_Secret) categs = client.venues.categories() Intermittently, I get a "Error connecting to Foursquare API" msg. Running a logger to catch a more detailed message produces: "SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed" This didn't use to happen and occurs both on my local Windows development machine and on a server running ubuntu. Am I missing something basic here about security certificates? The problem is intermittent and sometimes just leaving it a minute and retrying fixes the problem temporarily. I've downloaded the latest 20120716 version of the wrapper although in the code for init.py it still says API_VERSION = '20120608'. I'm using Python 2.73 and have also signed up for the Foursquare API key, using the id and secret in the above code. I listed the urls, using my local IP:8000 and tried using separate keys for the local and dev machines but this seems to make no difference. Help much appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi, I'm saving entities/records with the EF, but i'm curious if there is another way of doing it. I receive a class from a MVC controller method, so basicly i have all the info: the class's properties, including the primary key. Without EF i would do a Sql update (update table set a=b, c=d where id = 5), but with EF i got no further than this: Get an object with ID of 5 Update the (existing) object with the new object Submitchanges. What bothers me is that i have to get the object from the database first, where i have all the info to do an update statement. Is there another way of doing this?

  I have a simplified table xx as follows: rdate date rtime time rid integer rsub integer rval integer primary key on (rdate,rtime,rid,rsub) and I want to get the average (across all times) of the sums (across all ids) of the values. By way of a sample table, I have (with consecutive identical values blanked out for readability): rdate rtime rid rsub rval ------------------------------------- 2010-01-01 00.00.00 1 1 10 2 20 2 1 30 2 40 01.00.00 1 1 50 2 60 2 1 70 2 80 02.00.00 1 1 90 2 100 2010-01-02 00.00.00 1 1 999 I can get the sums I want with: select rdate,rtime,rid, sum(rval) as rsum from xx where rdate = '2010-06-01' group by rdate,rtime,rid which gives me: rdate rtime rid rsum ------------------------------- 2010-01-01 00.00.00 1 30 (10+20) 2 70 (30+40) 01.00.00 1 110 (50+60) 2 150 (70+80) 02.00.00 1 190 (90+100) as expected. Now what I want is the query that will also average those values across the time dimension, giving me: rdate rtime ravgsum ---------------------------- 2010-01-01 00.00.00 50 ((30+70)/2) 01.00.00 130 ((110+150)/2) 02.00.00 190 ((190)/1) I'm using DB2 for z/OS but I'd prefer standard SQL if possible.

• Colorbox - removing the close button from a specific window

  Hi, I'm using the colorbox plugin to display messages on my web page. One of them is a "wait for response" message, and I don't want the user closing it by himself. I know how to unbind the ESC key, and to disable the overlay close, but I still have a problem with the close button. I found I could remove it in the css like this: #cboxClose{display:none !important;} but this will effect all my colorbox messages.. Is there a way to remove the close button from a specific message? Maybe from the jsp itself? Thanks, Yael.

• python socket.recv/sendall call blocking

  Hi everyone. This post is incorrectly tagged 'send' since I cannot create new tags. I have a very basic question about this simple echo server. Here are some code snippets. client while True: data = raw_input("Enter data: ") mySock.sendall(data) echoedData = mySock.recv(1024) if not echoedData: break print echoedData server while True: print "Waiting for connection" (clientSock, address) = serverSock.accept() print "Entering read loop" while True: print "Waiting for data" data = clientSock.recv(1024) if not data: break clientSock.send(data) clientSock.close() Now this works alright, except when the client sends an empty string (by hitting the return key in response to "enter data: "), in which case I see some deadlock-ish behavior. Now, what exactly happens when the user presses return on the client side? I can only imagine that the sendall call blocks waiting for some data to be added to the send buffer, causing the recv call to block in turn. What's going on here? Thanks for reading!

  Using SQL Server 2008. Example table : CREATE table dbo.blobtest (id int primary key not null, name nvarchar(200) not null, data varbinary(max) null) Example query : select id, name, cast((case when data is null then 0 else 1 end) as bit) as DataExists from dbo.blobtest Now, the query needs to return a "DataExists" column, that returns 0 if the blob is null, else 1. This all works fine, but I'm wondering how efficient it is. i.e. does SQL server need to read in the whole blob to its memory, or is there some optimization so that it just does enough reads to figure out if the blob is null or not ? (FWIW, the sp_tableoption "large value types out of row" option is set to OFF for this example).

• Keyboard in HTML text-input disappear when WebView call 'loadUrl' again

  Hi there, I use WebView for my Androind App. I got a problem and request a solution for help. There is a textfield in the HTML page. When it gets 'focus' and then I call mWebView.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); in Java code so that the Android soft-keyboard will pop-up to let me key in. The problem is I need using multi-thread for some processes in Java and call mWebView.loadUrl(strJSCall); as callback to execute JavaScript function, but the keyboard gets hidden! The way I try is to force the keyboard to show again. But how can the keyboard always show when 'loadUrl' is called? Dose anyone meet the same issue and solve it already? Sincerely, Jr.

  Is it possible to automatically backup my database to dropbox? If so how can I do it? The key criteria I need it to do is: Be automatic. Be Mac compliant. Be weekly. Sync with dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com) automatically. Be able to backup several databases from several websites. Be free... or relatively cheap! Have a guide on how to setup the solution. Here's a screenshot of my cpanel but there doesn't seem to be an automatic option:
