JQuery: Dynamically-generated form fields not submitted and event handlers appear to fire multiple t

Hi, I'm new to JQuery, so I apologise if there's something which should be obvious which I'm unaware of. I seem to be having a couple of issues some JQuery I'm trying to implement: Code: http://pastebin.ca/1843496 (the editor didn't seem to like HTML tags) post_test.php simply contains: [?php print_r($_POST); ?] in an attempt to find out what's actually being submitted. The first issue I'm having is that only the hidden form fields are actually being submitted. If I insert tags into the container DIV manually it works as expected, but when done as above the text field doesn't get posted. From what I've read, I gather it's to do with the fact that the DOM is being modified after it's loaded, but the thing that's puzzling me is why, in that case, there are no issues referencing the other added hidden fields or the tag. I've experimented with changing the event handler for a.save to '.live('click', function ...' and also using LiveQuery to no avail. The other issue is that when a.save is clicked, before the form is actually submitted, as far as I can tell the event handler is running again, replacing the value entered into the text field with the value of editable.text(), which is what ultimately gets submitted. Problem with giving focus to first element inside a container

Hi, I am just trying to cycle the focus between elements inside a particular element when the tab key is pressed. What I want to do is not to set focus to any element which is not a descendant of an element when tab is pressed from the last control inside the element. At that time the focus must be set to the first input element inside the container. I have done a sample and it its not working, and I am unable to figure out the issue. CI+JQuery+Ajax problem

Calling the ajax called URL works well without ajax eg. http://localhost/ci/controller/method/param_value. But using ajax it doesnt work. Drupal theme preprocess function - primary links

I recently wrote a theme function to add a class to my primary links that works great. I then wrote some css classes to style these links with custom background images. Worked out great. Now comes the problem, the link text for the primary links still is displayed. Normally this isn't a problem as I would just wrap the in a with a custom "hide" class. For example: <span class="hide"><a href="#">Link Text</a></span> So my question is how can I loop through the primary links and wrap the text w/ a <span> like my example? Prevent empty tooltips at a wpf datagrid

I am working on a calendar program, which consists mainly of a WPF DataGrid. As there is not always enough space to display all the entries of a day (which is a DataGridCell), a tooltip with all the entries of the day shell appear at mouse over. This works so far with the code snippet shown below. And now the (little) problem: If there are no entries for a day, no tooltip shell pop up. Keeping the UI responsive while parsing a very large logfile

I'm writing an app that parses a very large logfile, so that the user can see the contents in a treeview format. I've used a BackGroundWorker to read the file, and as it parses each message, I use a BeginInvoke to get the GUI thread to add a node to my treeview. Unfortunately, there's two issues: The treeview is unresponsive to clicks or scrolls while the file is being parsed. I would like users to be able to examine (ie expand) nodes while the file is parsing, so that they don't have to wait for the whole file to finish parsing. The treeview flickers each time a new node is added. IE8 (compatibility mode) won't load my Ajax content

Hi all - I am working on a jQuery script on http://www.qxl.dk/ and I can't seem to get IE7 (or more accurately, IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode) to load my content. The sidebar box on the right named "QXL Aktuelt" loads its HTML content from an external file using Ajax load(), then triggers a custom jQuery event ("aktuelt_loaded") that starts a carousel script (like a scrolling newsticker). Several other content sections on the same page are loaded through Ajax and they work just fine, so I'm wondering what's going wrong. Everything works as expected in Firefox 3.6 and IE8, but not in IE8's compatibility mode. I can't get datepicker to work

Hi, I need a field that displays the datepicker. I followed the example given by the JQuery UI documentation and haven't managed to get it to work. TranslateTransform for drag and drop in Silverlight

We're trying to implement drag and drop in Silverlight (3). We want users to be able to drag elements from a treeview onto another part of a UI. The parent element is a Grid, and we've been trying to use a TranslateTransform along with the MouseLeftButtonDown, MouseMove (etc) events, as recommended by various online examples. For example: http://www.85turns.com/2008/08/13/drag-and-drop-silverlight-example/ We're doing this in IronPython, but that should be more or less irrelevant. The drag start is correctly initiated, but the item we are dragging appears in the 'wrong' location (offset a few hundred pixels to the right and down from the cursor) and I can't for the life of me work out why. Suppress indentation after environment in LaTeX

I'm trying to create a new environment in my LaTeX document where indentation in the next paragraph following the environment is suppressed. I have been told (TeXbook and LaTeX source) that by setting \everypar to {\setbox0\lastbox}, the TeX typesetter will execute this at the beginning of the next paragraph and thus remove the indentation: \everypar{\setbox0\lastbox} So this is what I do, but to no effect (following paragraph is still indented): \newenvironment{example} {\begin{list} {} {\setlength\leftmargin{2em}}} {\end{list}\everypar{\setbox0\lastbox}} I have studied LaTeX's internals as well as I could manage. It seems that the \end routine says \endgroup and \par at some point, which may be the reason LaTeX ignores my \everypar setting. \global doesn't help either. I know about \noindent but want to do this automatically. Example document fragment: This is paragraph text. This is paragraph text, too. \begin{example} \item This is the first item in the list. \item This is the second item in the list. \end{example} This is more paragraph text. I don't want this indented, please. Internal routines and switches of interest seem to be \@endpetrue, \@endparenv and others. Thanks for your help.

PrinterSettings.IsValid always returning false

In our code, we have to give the users a list of printers to choose from. The user then chooses a printer and it is checked to verify it is valid before printing. On a windows 2003 server with IIS 6, this works fine. On a windows 2008 server with IIS 7, it fails each time impersonate is set to true. PrinterSettings printerSetting = new PrinterSettings(); printerSetting.PrinterName = ddlPrinterName.SelectedItem.Text; if (!printerSetting.IsValid) { lblMsg.Text = "Server Printer is not valid."; } else { lblMsg.Text = "Success"; } Each time this code is run, the "Server Printer is not valid" displays, only if impersonate is set to true. If impersonate is set to false, the success message is displayed. The impersonation user has full rights to the printer. Is there a way to catch the actual reason the printer is not valid? Is there some other 2008 setting I should check?

Avoid the collapsing effect on TreeView after updating data

I have a TreeView used to display events. It works great, however every time new events are coming in and populating the tree collapse the tree again to the original position. That is very annoying when the refresh time is less than 1 second and it does not allow the user to interact with the items of the tree. Where to put a textfile I want to use in eclipse?

hi there, I need to read a text file when I start my program. I'm using eclipse and started a new java project. In my project folder I got the "src" folder and the standard "JRE System Library"... I just don't know where to put the text file. I cannot use a "hard coded" path because the text file needs to be included with my app... I also tried to create a new folder like "Files" and use the pathe "Files/staedteliste.txt".. doesn't work too... Why would delaying a thread response fix view corruption?

6 times out of 10 my very simple iPhone app is getting a corrupted display on launch or crashes randomly. But it behaves fine in the simulator. The display corruption looks like mis-colored fonts, out of place font text, wrong background colors, etc. I've found a strange work-around.. when my thread delays by 2 seconds before calling the "done" notification, everything works swimmingly. The thread reads a web page and the "done" notification loads up a PickerView with strings. So what gives? If commomMessage.BodyHtml.Text contains only Latin characters, there is no problem.

Calling PHP functions within HEREDOC strings

In PHP, the HEREDOC string declarations are really useful for outputting a block of html. You can have it parse in variables just by prefixing them with $, but for more complicated syntax (like $var[2][3]), you have to put your expression inside {} braces. In PHP 5, it is possible to actually make function calls within {} braces inside a HEREDOC string, but you have to go through a bit of work. The function name itself has to be stored in a variable, and you have to call it like it is a dynamically-named function. For example: $fn = 'testfunction'; function testfunction() { return 'ok'; } $string = <<< heredoc plain text and now a function: {$fn()} heredoc; As you can see, this is a bit more messy than just: $string = <<< heredoc plain text and now a function: {testfunction()} heredoc; There are other ways besides the first code example, such as breaking out of the HEREDOC to call the function, or reversing the issue and doing something like: ?>  plain text and now a function: <?PHP print testfunction(); ?> The latter has the disadvantage that the output is directly put into the output stream (unless I'm using output buffering), which might not be what I want. So, the essence of my question is: is there a more elegant way to approach this? Edit based on responses: It certainly does seem like some kind of template engine would make my life much easier, but it would require me basically invert my usual PHP style. Not that that's a bad thing, but it explains my inertia.. I'm up for figuring out ways to make life easier though, so I'm looking into templates now.

Dragging a copy of all selected elements from a select box--possible?

I have a picklist web interface: a pair of select elements with a pair of buttons (a left-pointing arrow and a right-pointing arrow) between them. Users can move items between the two columns by, eg, selecting one of options in the left column and clicking on the right-pointing arrow. Now I have an enhancement request: someone wants to be able to drag-and-drop items between the two columns instead of clicking a button. The problem with my initial two-select-box setup is that as soon as I click one of the highlighted options to initiate a drag, all of the other selected options are deselected. Using jQuery, I've attached mousedown event handlers to both the select boxes and each individual option that just call preventDefault() on the event object, but this isn't sufficient. On Firefox 3 the clicked-on option loses focus immediately, but all other options are still deseleted, and on IE6 (which I regrettably still have to support) it makes no difference at all. So I thought I could maybe create a reasonable facsimile of a select box using list elements or divs or something. I can create something reasonable-looking that works on Firefox, but on IE6, if I shift-click on an element of my pseudo-select object (in order to select a range of options), IE selects all of the text between where I click and the last place I clicked. Again, I've attached preventDefault-ing mousedown, mouseup, and click handlers to all of the elements involved, but it doesn't help. I've even tried overlaying transparent divs over both my original select boxes and my pseudo-select objects, thinking to intercept mouse clicks and manage the selections manually, but I can't make it work on IE. If I use a select box, I can't prevent clicks from changing the selection, and if I use text that just looks like a select element, I can't prevent it from selecting a range of text on a shift-click. Is there some general solution, or am I just out of luck?

Problem with reusing UITableViewCell's

I have a UITableView that is re-using cells when the user scrolls. Everything appears and scrolls fine, except when the user clicks on an actual row, the highlighted cell displays some text from another cell. IE8 CSS Table Effect

I've been trying to make this cross browser (specifically IE), but I do not want to use tables. I will not be able to specify the container width with CSS because its contents (the image) will dynamically change with Javascript, so I need the container to 'auto-size' horizontally. The desired effect would be a centered image with two sets of text (one of the left and one of the left) directly underneath the image, aligned to it's inner edges. jquery Append Issue

I am getting the append issue with this code. In my xml i go 2 no. of "listgroup" and jquery print propelry. but within the earch "listgroup", first group contain 6 points and second group contain 6 point. these 2 section has to print separately to 'ul' element. stopping backspace on multiple browsers using jQuery

I am attempting to stop a backspace keydown event from being handled by browsers, I'm using the jquery library, so I need to get the original event, but on some browsers (firefox at least) I get an error when trying to set the original events keyCode = 0, it gives and error saying that only a getter exists for that property. function blockBackspace(event) { var altKey = event.originalEvent.altKey; var srcElementType = event.originalEvent.srcElement; if( (altKey) || ((event.keyCode == 8) && (srcElementType != "text" && srcElementType != "textarea" && srcElementType != "password")) || ((event.ctrlKey) && ((event.keyCode == 78) || (event.keyCode == 82)) ) || (event.keyCode == 116) ) { event.keyCode = 0; event.returnValue = false; event.originalEvent.keyCode = 0; event.originalEvent.returnValue = false; //sets process backspaceFlag to keep multiple handlers from removing text processBackspace = true; } } so I'm not exactly sure what to do next, every solution I find yields more problems.
