Why does this PNG file look so poorly when embedded as a resource in a Qt project?

Here is the PNG file and what it looks like in a QWebView when accessed via http://sstatic.net/so/img/logo.png: When accessed via HTTP: <img src="http://sstatic.net/so/img/logo.png" width='250' height='61' /> When accessed via a resource: <img src="qrc:/images/logo.png" width='250' height='61' /> As you can see, the only modification was the src attribute of the image tag... why the drop in quality? Edit: The file is being shrunk via width: and height: in the style attribute, if that makes a difference. I updated the code.

jQuery: Fade not working

For some reason, jQuery's fade effect isn't working. Could it be because of the code? This function does everything it is supposed to, aside from the fading. Deleting a cookie in Javascript not working

I have a site where authentication is done externally (which I can't access), so I'm creating a cookie on login in order to display a welcome message to the user. Creating the cookie works fine, I write to document.cookie when the login form submits. But deleting the cookie doesn't work. QComboBox returns None Type . How to get Current Data ?

I've implemented 2 QComboBoxes with one having items manually inserted every time and another one having items inserted with a list (I'm using Python ) But when i attempt to get the current value of Combobox , it returns None . INSERT INTO ... SELECT ... vs dumping/loading a file in MySQL

What are the implications of using a INSERT INTO foo ... SELECT FROM bar JOIN baz ... style insert statement versus using the same SELECT statement to dump (bar, baz) to a file, and then insert into foo by loading the file? In my messing around, I haven't seen a huge difference. I would assume the former would use more memory, but the machine that this runs on has 8GB of RAM, and I never even see it go past half used. Are there any huge (or long term) performance implications that I'm not seeing? Advantages/disadvantages of either?

padding not shifting my logo

I have a logo link that's using a background-image (css sprite). All works fine, but when I try to add a 20px padding to the top of the link (to give it more space for user to click the link), the background image is not moving down. how to render custom columns with a GenericTreeModel

I have to display some data in a treeview. The "real" data model is huge and I cannot copy all the stuff in a TreeStore, so I guess I should use a GenericTreeModel to act like a virtual treeview. Btw the first column is the classic icon+text style and I think I should declare a column with a CellRendererPixbuf (faq sample), but I'm not sure what the model methods on_get_n_columns() and on_get_value() should return. It's both a Pixbuf and a string value for the same column. Any help will be appreciated.

Throw blank even-numbered/left pages

I am trying to typeset a large document using ReportLab and Python 2.7. It has a number of sections (about 6 in a 1,000 page document) and I would like each to start on odd-numbered/right-hand page. I have no idea though whether the preceding page will be odd or even and so need the ability to optionally throw an additional blank page before a particular paragraph style (like you sometimes get in manuals where some pages are "intentionally left blank"). Can anyone suggest how this could be done, as the only conditional page break I can find works on the basis of the amount of text on the page not a page number. I also need to make sure that the blank page is included in the PDF so that double-sided printing works.

I have an iPad app where you add photos to a page. I then want to save the photos positions, then add further pages with more photo positions and eventually save all the pagesto be looked at later in a slideshow style. Can anyone advise 1. Saving UIImageView states when moving to new views (or swapping views) - I see this on using NSCoding iPhone - save UIImageView state - but am at a lose - any more examples ? 2. Developer salaries to rise?

I have heard people say that the large fall in people graduating with CS based degrees will soon cause developer salaries to rise due to the effects of a smaller supply but ever increasing demand. Do people really think that this is true? To my mind there are a couple of reasons this won't happen: Outsourcing With 'DIY' style languages like PHP and the attitudes of many of the communities behind these languages becoming ever more popular (e.g. the learn yourself, don't need to go to university way of thinking) not many employers will care if developers have degrees in CS or not.

Many-to-Many Relationship (with properties) in Google App Engine for Java

I understand from the official documentation on unowned relationships that the app must use sets of Key objects on either side of the relationship. This makes perfect sense. Coming from many years of RDBM-style programming, though, I'm pretty confused about how I can model properties of that relationship itself. For example, if I have entities Category and Entry in my many-to-many relationship and would like to persist a dateAdded property, or some other data that are only relevant when both sides of the relationship are known. I suppose it would be possible to create a third class : CategoryEntry that links the two, but this seems like a kludge. What is the proposed way to model this kind of situation ?

Horizontal scroll in rich:panel to default right to left

I have a rich:panel with a style="overflow: scroll" tag inside. By default, the scroll slides left to right. I am constantly adding a new dataTable to a dataGrid with the click of a button and I want the user to always see the most recent one, and since I have it set up so that each dataTable is added as a column to the dataGrid, the most recent one will always be on the right side of the dataGrid. Is there a way I can default the scroll to go right to left? Or maybe creating the columns from right to left?

How do I swap triangle icons when doing expanding/collapsing divs with Javascript/CSS

I have a div that I want to toggle between displaying or not when a user clicks on a piece of text. I have a javascript function that toggles a div on or off. That works fine. What I don't know how to do is to have a triangle that points to the right or down depending on whether the div is open. My HTML looks like this: <a onclick="toggleDiv('myDiv');">Click here to expand or close div</a> <div id="myDiv" style="display:none"> ... </div> How do I add one of those triangles and have it point the right way, ideally with just HTML, Javascript, and CSS? The triangle would appear to the left of the "Click here..." string. Thanks.

HTML5 - Creating a canvas on top of an SVG(or other image)

The reason for asking this question is because I want to be able to draw an arrow between two svg images. I want to use canvas to create the arrows, so firstly I generate the svgs then place a canvas on top of them to be able to draw the arrows. I've tried using style=... but haven't had any luck as everytime I add the canvas element it just pushes my svg images to another pl If there's no easy way to do this I'll just create arrows using SVG, I figured it would be more efficient to use canvas if I had to do lots of arrows in a short amount of time.

How do I change the background image of my app?

Hello I have looked around and found some code which so called chooses an image from an array of image objects, but cant find an explanation. I would like to make my app have a background image and the user can select next and previous buttons to scroll through some full screen images, setting them as the background image as they scroll. I know how to do this in java, but cant seem to do it for this app. How or what code is linked to a next button to grab the next image in the array and reverse for the back button? Then that needs to be displayed obviously. I have used a layered architecture with a MVC style approach but cant seem to put it together with Objective-C. Would the buttons call the appropriate methods of the so called delegates, which the delegates handle fetching and returning the Images? Would the buttons use the returned images and actually handle the redrawing? I would really appreciate the help. Regards Jarryd

I have a textarea that I want to enable vertical scrolling. When I exceed the height of the textarea, it increases in size. The scroll bar does not appear. Hi, In the root directory of a small site i'm developing i have the following .htacess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-F RewriteRule .$ index.php that basically allows me to have pretty urls as it remaps every path that does not exists on the server (eg : /user/details/145 ) as a call to index.php where I handle it MVC-style. While this works ok on MacOs, this morning I have to work on another machine that has Windows (the apache server is run by xampp) and it does not work as it seems to redirect all the calls (eg those to static files like images) to index.php Any help?

sql query is too slow, how to improve speed

I have run into a bottleneck when trying to update one of my tables. The player table has, among other things, id, skill, school, weight. What I am trying to do is: SELECT id, skill FROM player WHERE player.school = (current school of 4500) AND player.weight = (current weight of 14) to find the highest skill of all players returned from the query UPDATE player SET starter = 'TRUE' WHERE id = (highest skill) move to next weight and repeat when all weights have been completed move to next school and start over all schools completed, done I have this code implemented and it works, but I have approximately 4500 schools totaling 172000 players and the way I have it now, it would take probably a half hour or more to complete (did not wait it out), which is way too slow. How to speed this up? Short of reducing the scale of the system, I am willing to do anything that gets the intended result.
