• Validation Rules in Webtesting using VS2010

  I'm creating a simple webtest (Recorded Web performance test) that makes sure that a correct error message is displayed if i try to login with a username that does not exist. However, there are two types of error messages that handle incorrect login info. One is for all the usernames that do not exist and therefore are not allowed, and the other is for usernames that start with the letter 'Q' (which is not allowed for a few reasons). Now what i want to do is use the 'Find Text' validation rule and the test should pass if ONE of the 'Find Text' parameters is found, and in that case i want the second 'Find Text' rule to be ignored so it doesn't fail the test. In other words the test should always pass if one of the 'Find Test' rules is found. How can i achieve that? Is there some if,else statement that i can use for this?

  Is it possible to package PHPUnit tests as a PHAR archive, and run them using phpunit? • struts validation problem in IE

  I am using Struts 2.1.8 and facing validation problem in IE. I am getting the following error An exception occurred: Error. Error message: Invalid argument. I tried out to figure out the cause and found the following. My generated javascript code is: field = form.elements['district.name']; var error = "Enter only alphabets for district"; if (continueValidation && field.value != null && !field.value.match("^[a-zA-Z ]*$")) { addError(field, error); errors = true; } I tried to mock up by putting the same code in a function and calling it in onclick event. The method addError() throws the exception and the reason is field variable. If I change it to field[0], it works fine. How to fix this error?

  My Visual Studio 2005 is a French one, installed on a French OS. All the exceptions I receive during debug or runtime I obtain also in French. Can I however do something that the exceptions messages be in English? For goggling, discussing etc. I tried the following: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo("en-US"); throw new NullReferenceException(); obtained Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This is, surely, cool... but, as I work on a French project, I will not hardcode forcing Thread.CurrentUICulture to English. I want the English change to be only on my local machine, and don't change the project properties. Is it possible to set the exceptions language without modifying the code of the application? • iPhone - Browsing iPhone files through computer

  I want to be able to send files from an iPhone app to a computer. What would be the easiest way of doing this? I've made simple server client programs before, but in those, the client has always needed to connect to the server before being able to receive messages from it. There is an app for the iPhone called iSimulate, where you put a server on a Mac (the iPhone simulator), and then you use the iSimulate app of an iTouch or iPhone to send touch events to the server. This app does not require you to type in an ip-address. Instead it presents a list of available computers that have this server up and running. How exactly is this being done? Can a server broadcast a message over a network, w/o anyone being connected to the server? How does that work? How does a client listen for that broadcast?   my config file below: very strange, i have spent a day to find out where i am wrong, but still not working, it still not log anything in the database,but i can output them using RollingFileAppender. Also, the store procedure WriteLog is working well.(I have tested it using sql server studio). I have tried to change the connectionType but not working. Unfortunately I dont have sql server 2000/2005 to test, my log4net version should be the latest one: log4net 1.2.10. • When is a C++ terminate handler the Right Thing(TM)?

  The C++ standard provides the std::set_terminate function which lets you specify what function std::terminate should actually call. std::terminate should only get called in dire circumstances, and sure enough the situations the standard describes for when it's called are dire (e.g. an uncaught exception). When std::terminate does get called the situation seems analagous to being out of memory -- there's not really much you can sensically do. I've read that it can be used to make sure resources are freed -- but for the majority of resources this should be handled automatically by the OS when the process exits (e.g. file handles). Theoretically I can see a case for if say, you needed to send a server a specific message when exiting due to a crash. But the majority of the time the OS handling should be sufficient. When is using a terminate handler the Right Thing(TM)? Update: People interested in what can be done with custom terminate handlers might find this non-portable trick useful.

• Pushing app to heroku problem

No such app as fierce-fog-63 fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly It's weird that I am getting this now, I have pushed the app to heroku many times without issue. the especially weird thing is, fierce-fog-63 is an old app that I made a deleted a long time ago. Why is it now that heroku is trying to push to this app that doesn't exist anymore, especially when I have created a new one. Any suggestions?

I just set up an account with github and I followed all their instructions flawlessly until I got to the last command of git push origin master Upon entering this command, I get the error message "fatal: No path specified. See 'man git-pull' for valid url syntax." If I type in git origin show the output I see is origin. • Cannot Debug Unmanaged Dll from C#

  I have a DLL that was written in C++ and called from a C# application. The DLL is unmanaged code. If I copy the DLL and its .pdb files with a post build event to the C# app's debug execution dir I still can't hit any break points I put into the DLL code. The break point has a message attached to it saying that "no symbols have been loaded for this document". What else do I have to do to get the debugging in the dll source? I have "Tools-Options-Debugging-General-Enable only my code" Disabled. The DLL is being compiled with "Runtime tracking and disable optimizations (/ASSEMBLYDEBUG)" and Generate Debug Info to "Yes (/DEBUG)"

• Unable to run OpenMPI across more than two machines

  When attempting to run the first example in the boost::mpi tutorial, I was unable to run across more than two machines. Specifically, this seemed to run fine: mpirun -hostfile hostnames -np 4 boost1 with each hostname in hostnames as <node_name> slots=2 max_slots=2. But, when I increase the number of processes to 5, it just hangs. I have decreased the number of slots/max_slots to 1 with the same result when I exceed 2 machines. On the nodes, this shows up in the job list: <user> Ss orted --daemonize -mca ess env -mca orte_ess_jobid 388497408 \ -mca orte_ess_vpid 2 -mca orte_ess_num_procs 3 -hnp-uri \ 388497408.0;tcp://<node_ip>:48823 Additionally, when I kill it, I get this message: node2- daemon did not report back when launched node3- daemon did not report back when launched The cluster is set up with the mpi and boost libs accessible on an NFS mounted drive. Am I running into a deadlock with NFS? Or, is something else going on?

• Does XercesC contain an extensive logic of XMLSchema validation?

  Tried to implement a small XML validation tool with XercesC. For some reason I cannot use existing validators right from the box - I need some preprocessing and would like to combine it with validation in a single tool. I used DOM parser and specified DOMErrorHandler. Instead of a set of errors with detailed messages like I saw from xmllint for the same xml and xmlschema files, only one message appeared that document has a wrong structure without details. Probably, I did something wrong. But also assume XercesC doesn't contain xmllint functionality right from the box. Does anybody can give me a hint before I spent too much time? Thanks.

  I am trying to implement a real-time application which involves IPC across different modules. The modules are doing some data intensive processing. I am using message queue as the backbone(Activemq) for IPC in the prototype, which is easy(considering I am a totally IPC newbie), but it's very very slow. Here is my situation: I have isolated the IPC part so that I could change it other ways in future. I have 3 weeks to implement another faster version. ;-( IPC should be fast, but also comparatively easy to pick up I have been looking into different IPC approaches: socket, pipe, shared memory. However, I have no experience in IPC, and there is definitely no way I could fail this demo in 3 weeks... Which IPC will be the safe way to start with? Thanks. Lily

• Avoiding exceptions when uploading files in laravel

  I've got a file upload field (attachment1) in a form that may or may not have a file uploaded in it when I process the form in laravel. When I'm trying to process the page, this line generates an exception: Input::upload('attachment1',path('storage').'attachments/'.$name); Here is the text of the exception: Message: Call to a member function move() on a non-object it seems that I need to check in advance to see if 'attachment1' has a file, and I found that the function Input::has_file('attachment1') is supposed to tell me whether or not 'attachment1' has a file, but even when I submit an empty form, it returns true. Also, from reading documentation, it seems that Input::upload is supposed to just return false when trying to upload a non-existant file, so why does it produce this exception instead, and how can I fix it?

• Word Interop compile time error

  I am getting the following error when referencing the assembly Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word in my asp.net application. The type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass' exists in both 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word\11.0.0.0_71e9bce111e9429c\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.dll' and 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word\12.0.0.0_71e9bce111e9429c\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.dll' Previously, I was getting the error but the 12.0.0.0 was in the PIA directory under Visual Studio, but the error message was the same, except pointing to a different path. Since then, I copied the dll to the GAC, but with the same error. I thought that .Net was supposed to take care of this. Can anyone give me some help? Thanks BTW, I am doing this using Visual Studio .Net 2008

When the user agrees to increasing IsolatedStorage, can other applications use this capacity or just the application in which he increased it?

  Hello community i have a big problem. i implemented an NSAlert in the viewDidLoad() of my app: UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:title message:alertMessage delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:ok otherButtonTitles:nil]; But the Alert pops up for 3 times, and then i can klick on it. Could it be that the viewDidLoad() starts for 3 times? • Integers in TextNodes w/ Python minidom

  I am working on an API using SOAP and WSDL. The WSDL expects integers to come through. I am fairly new to ALL of this, and constructing XML in Python. I have chosen to use minidom to create my SOAP message. So using minidom, to get a value into a node I found I have to do this: weight_node = xml_file.createElement("web:Weight") weight_contents = xml_file.createTextNode(weight) weight_node.appendChild(weight_contents) So say weight needs to go in as an integer and IS an integer. The function is 'createTextNode' does this mean its going to be text, or what I put in there has to be text? Again I am fairly new to all of this. So if what I have explained seems way off base, please speak up.

• If XmlException.SourceUri is read-only, what good is it?

  I have a couple places in my code where it throwing a new System.Xml.XmlException seems appropriate. I could just do throw new XmlException("Your XML sucks go fix it then try again."); But I think it's better to take advantage whenever possible of members particular to the exception class (otherwise ya might as well throw a plain ol' Exception every time). SourceUri and LineNumber would be helpful, but they only have get methods, there's no way I can assign a value to them! There's only 3 constructor overloads and none of them have parameters for those members either; I can only initialize Message, nothing else. There has got to be some way to populate those data members with values, otherwise why does XmlException bother with them? I suppose I could make a new class that inherits XmlException and write a new constructor that initializes SourceUri etc. but still, there must be a way to just use XmlException. Right?

• Is there any way to limit the size of an STL Map?

  I want to implement some sort of lookup table in C++ that will act as a cache. It is meant to emulate a piece of hardware I'm simulating. The keys are non-integer, so I'm guessing a hash is in order. I have no intention of inventing the wheel so I intend to use stl::map for this (though suggestions for alternatives are welcome). The question is, is there any way to limit the size of the hash to emulate the fact that my hardware is of finite size? I'd expect the hash's insert method to return an error message or throw an exception if the limit is reached. If there is no such way, I'll simply check its size before trying to insert, but that seems like an inelegant way to do it.
