• PhpBB3: adding background to specific php generated text input without affecting the other text inputs

  I have created a custom PhpBB3 style and desperately since a few hours tried to add a background image to a specific comment text area. With firebug I checked if the comment text area had a class and it does, so I tried some css variations and finally tried: sn-inputComment { background: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/pencil.png") repeat-x left top #FFFFFF;} { I also tried to find and manipulate the php generated text area but no success. Non of my methods worked. I will provide you all with a tinylink url to my forum with a test user and password access.   I have a Java project where I am to connect to a database and create buttons (next, new, save, delete, previous) to navigate through the database content where there are appropriate text fields and labels for the specific information. I'll use the code below as an example (each button is set up very similar)... To determine when the current record was to provide values (next and previous) or the value would be blank (new button) pass a boolean argument into the method. If data from the current record was to be used as fill values, pass true for both previous and next button code after moving the record pointer. If the new button was pressed and want to fill with blank values, pass false to the method. Inside the method, use a conditional expression to evaluate the boolean variable. If true, The appropriate get----() resultset method is used to fill the JTextFields. If false, fill them with "". The .setText() method of the JTextField is used to fill each JTextField. Make sure the fillTextFields method throws the appropriate exception. I understand and have the previous and next button methods passing true, while the new button method is passing false, but I don't quite understand how to set up the fillTextFields() method correctly or how to "throw the appropriate exception"... Any help would really be appreciated, thank you!

• Ideas Needed for a Base Code System

  I've developed a PHP web application that is currently in need of a strategic restructuring. Currently when we setup new clients we give them the entire code base on a subdomain of our main domain and create a new table for them in the database. This results in each client having the entire codebase, meaning when we make bug changes, fixes we have to go back and apply them independently across all clients and this is a pain. What I'd like to create is a base code server that holds all the core PHP files. base.domain.com Then all of our clients (client.domain.com) will only need a few files: config.php would have the database connection information. index.php - displays the login box if session non-existant, otherwise it loads baseline code via remote includes to base.domain.com. My question is does my logic seem feasible? How do other people handle similar situations by having a base code? Also.... Is it even possbile to remotely include PHP files from base.domain.com and include them in client.domain.com? Thanks, Tegan

• css layout for footer at bottom with dynamic ajax content changing height of page

  [Update] I actually compromised on this problem for now by foregoing the fixed footer design. It seems that there is no problem with dynamic content moving the footer and resizing containers appropriately unless the footer is fixed to the browser bottom initially. I hope others will eventually provide a great solution that encompasses the best of both worlds. I spent all day trying to get the footer to move down the page to accommodate dynamically added (via ajax) content. I really need some pointers or links because I haven't found anything that helps. Basically: My site has some pages that begin with only a text box and a button so that the total height of the content area is only a few inches beneath the header area. I don't have any problem getting the sticky footer working so that the footer appears at the bottom of the browser window even when there is very little content on screen. That same css layout works fine for other pages that have content that extends beneath the browser window. The catch: The content has to be rendered and passed to the browser with the initial load. The Problem: Any content that is added to the page via AJAX after the initial load paints down the page correctly -- but the footer remains in its initial location. Please tell me there is a fix for this. I can't post the css until checking with my boss first - if possible - and if needed, I will later - but it's just a very basic version of the many sticky footer css solutions floating around the web. • Is it possible to guarantee a unique id for multiple items using the same id variable at a point in

  First of all, do not be overwhelmed by the long code, I just put it for reference...I have a function that preg_replaces content and puts it in a jquery dialog box with a matching open-link. For example, if there is a paragraph with two matches, they will be put inside two divs, and a jquery dialog function will be echoed twice; one for each div. While this works for one match, if there are multiple matches, it does not. I am not sure how to distribute unique ids at a point in time for each of the divs and matching dialog open-scripts. Keep in mind, I removed the preg replace function since it kind of complicates the problem. • Chrome targeted CSS

  I have some CSS code that hides the cursor on a web page (it is a client facing static screen with no interaction). The code I use to do this is below: *, html { cursor: url('/web/resources/graphics/blank.cur'), pointer; } Blank.cur is a totally blank cursor file. This code works perfectly well in all browsers when I host the web files on my local server but when I upload to a Windows CE webserver (our production unit) the cursor represents itself as a black box. Odd. After some testing it seems that chrome only has a problem with totally blank cursor files when served from WinCE web server, so I created a blank cursor with one pixel as white, specifically for chrome. • Circular Reference exception with JSON Serialisation with MVC3 and EF4 CTP5w

  Hi I'm having problems with a circular reference when i try and serialise an object returned via EF4 CTP5. Im using the code first approach and simple poco's for my model. I have added [ScriptIgnore] attributes to any properties that provide a back references to an object and annoyingly every seems to work fine if i manually instantiate the poco's, i.e. they serialise to JSON fine, and the scriptignore attribute is acknowledged. However when i try and serialise an object returned from the DAL i get the circular reference exception "A circular reference was detected while serializing an object of type 'System.Data.Entity.DynamicProxies.xxxx'" I have tried several ways of retreiving the data but they all get stuck with this error: public JsonResult GetTimeSlot(int id) { TimeSlotDao tsDao = new TimeSlotDao(); TimeSlot ts = tsDao.GetById(id); return Json(ts); } The method below works slightly better as rather than the timeslot dynamic proxied object causing the circular refference its the appointment object. public JsonResult GetTimeSlot(int id) { TimeSlotDao tsDao = new TimeSlotDao(); var ts = from t in tsDao.GetQueryable() where t.Id == id select new {t.Id, t.StartTime, t.Available, t.Appointment}; return Json(ts); } Any ideas or solutions to this problem? • Newbie: Render RGB to GTK widget -- howto?

  Hi All, Big picture: I want to render an RGB image via GTK on a linux box. I'm a frustrated GTK newbie, so please forgive me. I assume that I should create a Drawable_area in which to render the image -- correct? Do I then have to create a graphics context attached to that area? • How can I intelligently group rows of integers for a faceted search?

  I'm not even quite sure what terms I should be using for what I want, so any advice on what I'm even asking for would be very welcome. Basically, my web site lists user-generated accommodations. Each has a rent price, which users will be able to query in our new faceted search box. Users search by city, and within each city I'd like to present a different rent grouping. That is to say that in City #1, if we have listings ranging from $200 - $1000, I'd like to present checkboxes for: less than $300 $301 - $500 $501 - $700 more than $700 However, if City #2 has values that range from $500 - $1500, I want the ranges above to change accordingly. So, if I say that I want 5 or 6 range options in each city, I think I have two options: Take the min and max values and just split the difference. I don't like this idea because one listing with a rent of $10,000 will throw the whole scale off. Intelligently calculate the ranges using means, medians etc. Number 2 is what I need help with. I'm a web developer that gets logic, but was never strong on math and statistics at school. Can anyone point me towards a guide that'll help me figure this out?

  Hi, I just built a asp.net 2.0 web site. Now I need add REST web service so I can communicate with another web application. I've worked with 2 SOAP web service project before, but have no experise with REST at all. I guess only a coupleweeks would works fine. after googling, I found it's not that easy. This is what I found: There is NO REST out of box of asp.net. WCF REST Starter Kit Codeplex Preview 2 base on .net 3.5 and still in beta Rest ASP.NET Example REST Web Services in ASP.NET 2.0 (C#) Exyus Handling POST and PUT methods with Lullaby ADO.NET Data Service ... Now my question, a) Is a REST solution for .net 2.0? if yes, which one is best solution? b) if I have to, how hard to migrate my asp.net from 2.0 to 3.5? is it as simple as just compile, or I have to change a lot code? c) WCF REST Starter Kit is good enough to use in production? d) Do I have to learn WCF first, then WCF REST Starter Kit? where is the best place to start? • Implementing a c/c++ style union as a column in MySQL

  Friends, I have a strange need and cannot think my way through the problem. The great and mighty Google is of little help due to keyword recycling (as you'll see). Can you help? What I want to do is store data of multiple types in a single column in MySQL. This is the database equivalent to a C union (and if you search for MySQL and Union, you obviously get a whole bunch of stuff on the UNION keyword in SQL). [Contrived and simplified case follows] So, let us say that we have people - who have names - and STORMTROOPERS - who have TK numbers. You cannot have BOTH a NAME and a TK number. You're either BOB SMITH -or- TK409. In C I could express this as a union, like so: union { char * name; int tkNo; } EmperialPersonnelRecord; This makes it so that I am either storing a pointer to a char array or an ID in the type EmperialPersonnelRecord, but not both. I am looking for a MySQL equivalent on a column. My column would store either an int, double, or varchar(255) (or whatever combination). But would only take up the space of the largest element. Is this possible? (of course anything is possible given enough time, money and will - I mean is it possible if I am poor, lazy and on a deadline... aka "out of the box")

  In CSharp its as simple as writting : listBox1.Items.Add("Hello"); listBox1.Items.Add("There"); foreach (string item in listBox1.Items ) { MessageBox.Show(item.ToString()); } and i can easily add different objects to a list box and then retrieve them using foreach. I tried the same approach in Qt 4.8.2 but it seems they are different.though they look very similar at first.I found that Qt supports foreach so i went on and tried something like : foreach(QListWidgetItem& item,ui->listWidget->items()) { item.setTextColor(QColor::blue()); } which failed clearly.It says the items() needs a parameter which confuses me.I am trying to iterate through the ListBox itself, so what does this mean? I tried passing the ListBox object as the parameter itself this again failed too: foreach(QListWidgetItem& item,ui->listWidget->items(ui->listWidget)) { item.setTextColor(QColor::blue()); } So here are my questions: How can I iterate through a QListWidget items in Qt? Can i store objects as items in QListWidgets like C#? How can i convert an object in QListWidgets to string(C#s ToString counter part in Qt) ? (suppose i want to use a QMessagBox instead of that setTextColor and want to print out all string items in the QlistWidget.)

• Creating a complex tree model in Qt

  I'm writing an IRC Client (yes another one). Long story short. I'm writing a Server dialogue that keeps a list of this: Identity Networks Channels Addresses I have 3 different list views that will be for the Networks, Channels and Addresses. When the user changes the Identity (combo box). The network listview will lookup all the networks for that specific Identity. After it loads up the Networks it will automatically select the first network and then load all the channels and addresses for that specific network. The problem is I want to have 3 views for 1 model, to minimise all the memory and the loading of data. So that it makes it much easier to manage and not do a bunch of work. If you'd look at QColumnView it's the same exact thing. But I don't need it to be on one exact page since the views are on entirely different tabs to make it easier to go through the Server dialogue. I'm wondering what will be the best way to go about handling this complexity. The information is stored in a SQLite database. I already have the classes written to extract and store it. Just the modelling is the painful part of this solution.

  I am trying to get names from a .txt file. I am using file('filename.txt') but if i use a php for loop to try and trim the names, it comes out on multiple lines: This is the actual line that prints the javascript (NOTE: I am going to be putting these names into a select box, if you can fix the problem at hand the rest of the code should work so unless you a big problem with it you don't need to comment) <?php for($i=1; $i < 27; $i++){ echo "selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('".lines[$i]."','".$lines[$i]."');\n"; } ?> Heres how it comes out on the browser: selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Djamal ABDOUN ','First1 Last1 '); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Chadli AMRI ','First2 Last2 '); I need those to be on one line so i dont get a unterminated string literal js error Any ideas on what i can do here? EDIT: Oh i should probably mention, the $lines var is initiated like this: $lines = file('filename.txt'); and inside that file i have formatted like this First1 Last1 First2 Last2 First3 Last3 etc. and i hit delete after each Last name until the next first name is touching, then hit enter to put it on a new line (Editor is notepad++)

  I have a checkout page http://www.oipolloi.com/oipolloi/shop/viewbasket.php with multiple ajax calls after certain items update (EG look up postage cost when country is changed, then update discount boxes etc). I've asked for help in the past about the best method of making sure ALL calls have returned before allowing the form to be submitted for payment processing: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2290372/how-do-i-prevent-form-submission-until-multiple-ajax-calls-have-finished-jquery I was fairly happy that the logic in the finished solution was correct, but I have still been receiving reports that people using Safari are able to submit the form without the ajax calls returning properly. I have tried using the Safari Web Inspector to debug but it seems that when you Inspect Element, then update an element with an ajax call, the Inspector doesn't seem to update. I am updating hidden fields, so it's hard to be able to know whether the problem lies with the DOM not being updated properly, or the Inspector itself. I'm using Safari 4.0.5 on PC and you can reproduce the problem above by looking for a div id="countryFieldsBilling" with Web Inspector. It should contain three hidden fields that are initially empty. You can try to make it update (or not) by choosing a country from the select menu at the bottom of 'Shipping Address' box, and then clicking the 'click to use Shipping Address' link at the top of the 'Billing Address' just below. The behaviour I am seeing is that the country chosen in the shipping select gets copied correctly to the country in the billing select, but the hidden inputs in the Web Inspector do not get updated. When these hidden inputs do not get updated, this causes the problem that Mac Safari users report. If you can let me know either how to get Web Inspector to work properly, or something else I may have missed in the behaviour of Mac Safari that may cause these problems, that would be great. • [C#] Two System.Drawing methods manifest slow drawing or flickery: Solutions? or Other Options?

  Hi all, I am doing a little graphing via the System.Drawing and im having a few problems. I'm holding data in a Queue and i'm drawing(graphing) out that data onto three picture boxes this method fills the picture box then scrolls the graph across. so not to draw on top of the previous drawings (and graduly looking messier) i found 2 solutions to draw the graph. Call plot.Clear(BACKGOUNDCOLOR) before the draw loop [block commented] although this causes a flicker to appear from the time it takes to do the actual drawing loop. call plot.DrawLine(channelPen[5], j, 140, j, 0); just before each drawline [commented] although this causes the drawing to start ok then slow down very quickly to a crawl as if a wait command had been placed before the draw command. • Cannot install windows service

  I have created a very simple window service using visual studio 2010 and .Net 4.0. This service has no functionality added from the default windows service project, other than an installer has been added. If i run installutil.exe appName.exe on my dev box or other windows 2008 R2 machines in our domain the windows service installs without issue. When i try to do this same thing on our customer site, it fails to install with the following error. Microsoft (R) .NET Framework Installation utility Version 4.0.30319.1 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\TestService\WindowsService1.exe' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515). This solution has only 1 project and no dependencies added. I have tried it on multiple machines in our environment and two in our customers. The machines are all windows 2008 R2, both fresh installs. One machine has just .net 2.0 and .net 4.0. The other .net 2, 3, 3.5 and 4. I am a local admin on each of the machines. I have also tried the 64bit installer but get the following error, so i think the 32 bit one is the one to use. System.BadImageFormatException Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
