  Hello All, First of all I am very thankful to the owner of this website. I have learned and implement various technologies with the help of solutions provided by the readers. I know the question I asked is posted many time in this forum. And I have tired all of the solutions available, but no luck I may case I am trying to read a dat file which is basically a msg/feed file having more than 22000 Characters. Every line may or may not be of same length. My requirement is to convert the file to fixed line length character file. I have a logic that work well using vb script, however its pretty slow. I have checked with For f/ but no luck. The only delimiter I have is EOT, which i can see in Textpad but not in notepad. I have tried with \n, token=. Please help me in resolving the issue.   Hello, I'm using commons-httpclient-3.1 inside my android application. And I would like to know if it possible to manipulate Part (org.apache.commons.httpclient.methods.multipart.Part) dynamically? Essentially adding new FilePart and new StringPart at runtime before sending the request. Every example I've found until now suppose that you know how many fields you are dealing with.   Hello, I have created a simple static function in oracle 10g to get the reference of an object based on his pk. I know one level is missing, but if I try to do : data.Inter-Medias.name or data.name.name it's still not working. Any idea please ? I will have case where i'll have multiple Ojbect, so i want to display all of them, how to do that ? for (i=0;i < data.length;i++) Does it look right ? Bonus question : i understand function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest) that in case of success this function is triggered, the data is what the script recieved from his request, but i have no idea what textStatus or XMLHttpRequest are here too and why ?! • Richfaces Calendar Minimum and Maximum Dates

  Hello everybody! My problem is making the RichFaces calendar restricting the dates to be allowed to be chosen by the user. Let's say I want to allow only the dates of this month and the dates of the next month to be chosen by the user. I used the preloadDateRangeStart and preloadDateRangeEnd attributes but they did nothing. I created my own CalendarDataModel which uses the preloadDateRangeStart and preloadDateRangeEnd and enables the items but the calendar on the screen allows only the dates of the current month to be selected. Note that the preloadDateRangeStart is today's date and preloadDateRangeEnd is today's date plus 2 months. I am missing something here for sure. Can someone help me please?

  Hello, If i browse my site using http://localhost:8080/abc/Login/index.jsf, everything works fine. But if browse it using simply http://localhost:8080/abc, the page is shown but all its images and css files are missing. What can be the problem? I have this in my web.xml :- <form-login-config> <form-login-page>/Login/index.jsf</form-login-page> <form-error-page>/Login/index.jsf</form-error-page> </form-login-config> Probably, images are not getting referenced correctly.   Hello. After program is separated into small object, these objects must be connected with each over. Where are different types of connection. Inheritance, composition, aggregation, delegation. These types has many kinds and patterns like loose coupling, tight coupling, inversion of control, delegation via interfaces etc. What is a correct common name for mentioned types of connections? I can suggest that they all are called 'coupling', but i can't find any good classification in google, so maybe i'm trying to use a wrong term? Maybe anyone knows a solid, trusted classification that i can user for terminology?

  Hello, I have lets say a WeeklyViewUserControl.xaml and a DailyViewUserControl.xaml. Normally I used stuff like this to switch content: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModel:LessonPlannerViewModel}"> <View:LessonPlannerDailyUC/> </DataTemplate> This worked so far. But now I have still the WeeklyViewUC which uses 90 % of the LessonPlannerViewModel code so I want to make this additionally: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModel:LessonPlannerViewModel}"> <View:LessonPlannerWeeklyUC/> </DataTemplate> but this can not work, because from where does the ContentControl know that VM (LessonPlannerViewModel) should display a DailyViewUC or a WeeklyViewUC ? <ContentControl Content="{Binding VM}" />

• What advantages can I get from learning C++ if I'm mainly a C# Programmer?

  Hello, Recently I've started to notice a lot of smirks and generally rude comments whenever I mention C#. Everyone I talk to either says learn Python or learn C++. Python is a nice language, I get it. But I don't find much use for it right now (for my use cases), and C++ I heard is a faster language (not sure). So my question is this, what advantage can I get from learning C++ (besides the knowledge and expansion of my horizons), when I mainly program in C#. If anyone can make a legitimate claim, I'll for sure look into learning the language because let's face it, I trust you guys. Thanks so much for all the help.

• Wordpress auto-generated "canonical" link - get them to use a custom URL parameter?

  Hello - Does anyone know how to modify the Wordpress canonical links to add a custom URL parameter? I have a Wordpress site with a page that queries a separate (non-Wordpress) database. I passed the URL parameter "pubID" to display individual books and it is working OK. Example: http://www.uglyducklingpresse.org/catalog/browse/item/?pubID=63 But the individual books are not showing up properly in Google - the ?pubID parameter is stripped out. I think maybe this is because all the item pages have the same auto-generated "canonical" URL link tag in the source - one with the "pubID" parameter stripped out. Example: link rel='canonical' href='http://www.uglyducklingpresse.org/catalog/browse/item/' Is there a way to perhaps edit .htaccess to add a custom URL parameter to Wordpress, so that the parameter is not stripped out by permalinks and the "canonical" links? Or maybe there's another solution ... Thank you for any ideas!

  Hello everybody, I have multi-step form and user can navigate to any page to modify or add information. There is a menu that shows progress and steps user completed. This menu allows to navigate to any step user completed or going to complete. Inspite of big button "Save and Continue" some users click this menu to navigate further. I have to check - if values have changed in a form and ask: "Save changes? Yes/No". What is the best way (with minimum code) you suggest me to check if form values have changed. • Android / Java rare and seemingly impossible exception causing force close

  Hello all, I have an interesting problem being reported to me from an android application I have published. I have a two-dimensional array that I am iterating through using two for loops like so: for (int i = 0; i < arr.length; ++i) { for (int j = 0; j < arr[i].length; ++j) { if (arr[i][j] != 0) // does stuff } } The problem is, somehow arr[i][j] != 0 is throwing an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. But very rarely. I have thousands of people use the app on a daily basis and get maybe twenty force close reports. Is this something I can't avoid, maybe a problem with the phones memory, etc. or is there something I can do that I haven't thought of yet? Thanks.

• Storing HTML in MySQL using Java

  Hello there again, So, I'm working on a project now where I should store webpages inside a database, I'm using crawler4j to crawl and Proxool along with MySQL Java Connector to connect to my database. When I tested the application I got: com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlDataTruncation: Data truncation: Data too long for column 'HTMLData'. The HTMLData column wasTEXT. When I changed the HTMLData column to LONGTEXT the error was gone, but I'm afraid it might get back in the future. Any idea on how to do that perfectly so I don't worry about that error (or any other similar error) in the future? Thanks :)

  Hello folks, I'm writing a sync application for Lotus Notes and Google (I know, there are some of them out there, but they are either not free or sync only calendar (or only contacts) and most of them cannot deal with local mailfiles). This works so far, but I have a problem when syncing contacts: under certain circustances, the contacts have to be deleted and recreated in Google. This causes them to disappear from the chat list in GMail and the people have to be re-invited manually. Is there any way to send these invites through the API? Thanks in advance DBa

  Hello all, I'm looking to purchase a jquery book. I'm a strong C# developer whose had experience with dojo. Now, I'm building my own site and am looking to learn a new platform in the process. So, I've chosen jquery. With dojo, I know how to make my own widgets. I want to learn about ways to plug into jquery to make reusable controls. Also, I plan to make heavy use of json with ajax. Other things to consider: I would call my javascript expertise as intermediate. I'd like to find a book that is as up to date with the jquery platform as possible as I know that in a few months it will likely be out of date. What book or books would you reccomend?

• Aren't passwords written in inputbox vulnerable through a stack trace ?

  Hello, I am not a guru of the stack tracing, at all. I even don't know how to get some. Anyway, I am wondering if entering a password entered in an inputbox is safe. Can't it be retrieved by getting a stack trace ? A password entered that way will be found in many places : Caption property of the TEdit Result of the function which creates the inputbox probably, a variable that stores the Result of the InputBox Command etc... If the answer is "yes, it is a vulnerability", then my world collapses :p. What can be done to avoid that vulnerability hole ? NOTE : The InputBox is an example but it can be with a "homebrewed" login prompt. InputBox is a Delphi command but I haven't tagged the question with the Delphi tag because I suppose that the question concerns any language. Thanks for reading

On some systems this is not a problem because the data comes in quickly enough. However, on other systems data in the receive buffer is not complete. How can I append received data to pUartData_c, rather than over-write it. I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition. Thanks.

  Hello, When serving an iframe application in Facebook, is there anyway I can know when a user visits my site through Facebook as an application or if he reached the site directly (typed my domain URL in the browser)? I know I can check if the user has a cookie (named "u") which tells me that the user used facebook to get an access_token. However, if the user visited the application one minute ago and got the access_token cookie, but then typed the URL in the browser, checking for the existence of the cookie will return TRUE, although the visitor arrived to the site directly. • How to get rid of library references problem? Java

  Hello, I created a web application and it used several libraries once upon a time. So i added them but later on i found alternative and actually better ways to do the same things. So i removed references from my project for those jars and libraries. Everything works fine but when i move the same project to my friend's laptop Netbeans 6.8 simply doesn't let me deploy the project and gives the whole bundle of errors of libraries that i used previously but i don't now. I removed all references from build.impl file and then when i deploy it, it works fine. But when i do a clean and build and try to deploy it, build.impl automatically again adds those lines of xml which contain references to libraries an again gives me a whole long list of errors. How do i get rid of this? I am really tired of these silly errors. Thanks in advance :)
