    I'm looking for some up-to-date information about postgresql internals, specifically the query optimizer. I've found this link (referred to in the "Further Reading" section of the 8.4 docs):- http://db.cs.berkeley.edu//papers/UCB-MS-zfong.pdf but it seems quite old. That in itself is not a problem, but I wanted to be sure that I have information that is relevant. Is this the best resource for understanding how postgresql processes queries (using plans, statistics etc.) or are there others?

  • Alternative to MS Dynamics CRM 4.0?

    hi, A customer of mine have been testing a trial of MS CRM 4.0 that I installed for them, but they concluded that it might be a bit heavy for them. I promised them to look into other CRM applications that use SQL Server as the backend and preferably has an Outlook plugin so you can do "CRM Stuff" directly from Outlook. If anyone knows about alternatives, I would appreciate it if you leave a link here!

    I currently have Google Chrome dev version installed, however visting http://www.soundstep.com/blog/experiments/jsdetection/, it said I needed to install Google Chrome Beta. Isn't dev higher than beta? I thought there was these versions of Google Chrome, from lowest to highest version: Stable Beta Dev Canary (Chromium) Is the detection of my browser failing on the website, or have Google Chrome changed their versioning system?     I am running mac 10.6.4 on an iMac and am using it as a developer server. I have Apache and Entropy php5 installed, when i write my applications, some pages wont run when php has errors, however these are not recorded on a log file, I created one php_errors.log and entered the following on the php.ini file error_log = /usr/local/php5/logs/php_errors.log However errors are not written to this file and i have log_errors = true What could be the problem

  • Remove nesting "My Music" folder names in Windows 7.

    I was messing around with the Location tab in "properties" for "My Music" and ended up changing it a few times to directories on another drive. I quickly decided I didn't like the change and reverted it back. The My Music folder in my users directory is working fines but now my iTunes directory is labeled as "My Music" and the music directory within is called "My Music". Describing the issue simply: D:\iTunes\Music is labeled as Computer Local Disk(D:) My Music My Music Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.

  • NFS server Windows 2008 - mounting via linux - input/output error help.

    I want to try mounting a folder with NFS - I set up the NFS sharing on a windows 2008 R2 server, specified hosts in the NFS permissions (by IP address) and mounted via /etc/fstab it mounts, but when I try to list the folder, I get 'input/output error' the owner/group on the local mount point look weird too? drwx------ 2 4294967294 4294967294 4096 2011-02-10 19:15 data/ I mounted in /etc/fstab as: 10.0.6.55:/share$ /media/data nfs soft,intr,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 What am I doing wrong?

  • Vmware Player network adapters have no network or internet access in Windows 7 enterprise

    As per the title. My VMWare player installation has setup the two network adaptor VMnet1 and VMnet8 and they are picked up as unidentified networks with no network access (i need this to activate my windows server installation on it). The option to change the network location is not available (this might be because of network policy on the domain despite having set this as configurable in the local security policy section). Is there anyway i can change how these networks are detected or alter the configuration of vmware to get around this?

  • Force Windows 7 to store thumbnails locally

    I want Windows 7 to store thumbnails cache files in the same folder as the files (thumbs.db) instead of using the centralized location for all thumbnails (By default %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer). How would one achieve this effect? Alternatively, if the former is implausible, I'd settle for no thumbnail caching at all, forcing Windows to regenerate thumbnails each time a folder is accessed.

    I have a Tomcat server running on my local dev machine(running Windows8) & I use fiddler2 to assign an alias to localhost as my domain name (www.mydomainName.com), so my application webpages open in the browser like this: http://www.mydomainName.com/myAppName/welcome.html instead of http://localhost:8080/myAppName/welcome.html But I want to my webapp pages urls to omit 'myAppName' & be something like : http://www.mydomainName.com/welcome.html How could I configure to do this ?

How do I safely setup permissions on the shared folder so that when i do something like: src="subdomain.domain.com/Image1.png" I wont get access denied? In this app, I need to specify the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/local/oracle/lib But when I run the app with sudo script/server, it doesn't run because that library path is not in roots' env. What should I do to make it work? I tried to put the path under root ./bashrc and it didn't work.

    I installed MinGW by using mingw-get-inst-20111118.exe and it works but it is very slow! i don't want to install it online, i remember that i have previously installed MinGW and msys by using two files mingw.exe and msys.exe without using the internet and it was great, but now i cant repeat what i have done and i cant find a link to mingw.exe! please i want a simple steps for offline better installation? thanks

  • Store ESX5 images on a NAS?

    I have a basic NAS device (Buffallo LinkStation Duo) that can only present SMB fileshares to the network. For testing annd for getting a dying physical machine working I would like to store my VMDK on here. Is that possible, or will I have to find some way of presenting this as an iSCSI target of some sort? I've only used iSCSI or local storage in the past, but this isn't possible at the moment.     I'm trying to speed up my PC, and I figured out that a full version of SQL Management Studio 2012 is installed including localhost server. I only need to connect to remote hosts, so running a local server by default should be disabled. Is there an easy way to disable certain parts so I can speed up my PC and booting time? Thanks in advance. I really have no clue what processes I can disable without ruining everything.
