• "getpt failed: No such file or directory" when opening a terminal through VNC

  I am running Debian Wheezy on my server, and have just installed a VNC server and Xfce. I have come across a problem: whenever I open a terminal emulator through VNC, I get an error box with this message: Failed to execute child. getpt failed: No such file or directory. This happens with every terminal I try to run. I can still run commands through SSH, however. It's just the terminal that won't open. • exchange server 2010 Outlook Web Access - Exchange Control Panel WEB Interface

  from what i can gather the mailbox bit of the web interface works fine.. when any of the users go to options (top right) and try to use some of the features such as the Organise Mail Delivery Reports to find messages etc... it comes up with a message .. "An item with the same key has already been added" I've looked in the event viewer and i think its this error - Watson report about to be sent for process id: 7016, with parameters: E12IIS, c-RTL-AMD64, 14.00.0639.021, ECP, ECP.Powershell, https://x.x.x.x/ecp/PersonalSettings/Accounts.svc/GetList, UnexpectedCondition:ArgumentException, c09, 14.00.0639.021. • OpenNebula: [HostPoolInfo] User couldn't be authenticated, aborting call

  I installed OpenNebula 3.2.1 following the guide found under http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel3.2:ignc on a Debian 6.0.4 machine. Everything seemed fine until trying to execute the command onevm list Then I always get this: oneadmin@opennebula-master:~$ onevm list [VirtualMachinePoolInfo] User couldn't be authenticated, aborting call. The file one_auth exists. I even gave the oneadmin user a password although it doesn't seem to be required according to the guide. I copied the password hash from /etc/shadow to the one_auth file. Still no success. Any ideas are appreciated.

• DB2 upgrade database Fails due to descriptor corruption

  Hi Everyone, I've recently upgraded my DB2 9.5 to DB2 9.7, and I am unable to update my database to v9.7. The error I have been receiving is this: "SQL0901N The SQL statement failed because of a non-severe system error. Subsequent SQL statements can be processed. (Reason "Packed descriptor corruption found. Please run RUNSTATS on this table".) SQLSTATE=58004" I have tried to connect with 9.5 clients that worked before the "upgrade" on other machines, but they complain about the DB not being migrated to the current version. So my DB is now somewhere in limbo between 9.5 and 9.7. Would anyone have any clever ideas on how to execute runstats on this DB without being able to connect to it? I'm not concerned so much about the data inside, as I am about the settings (name,optimization stuff, etc) Please let me know if I there is any information I left out. Thanks, Jdcc

After debugging a "can't read/execute /etc/ppp/peers" problem (since /etc/ppp didn't exist) and following the advice on the Apple support forums (I tried a clean install, and sudo chmod u+s /usr/sbin/pppd had no effect), I'm getting this error: Connected. • Why do I get Access Denied when using WinRM?

  Following on from this question: Why does my PowerShell script hang when called in PSEXEC via a batch (.cmd) file? I took the advice from Jim B and installed WinRM. To recap I have two servers: HMon01 - runs Windows 2003 Standard SP2 Web1928 - runs Windows 2008 Standard SP2 Both servers are standalone. I installed WinRM for Windows 2003 from here and configured WinRM as follows on both machines: Client NetworkDelayms = 5000 URLPrefix = wsman AllowUnencrypted = false Auth Basic = true Digest = true Kerberos = true Negotiate = true Certificate = true DefaultPorts HTTP = 80 HTTPS = 443 TrustedHosts = * The problem I have is that if I remotely execute commands using the remote machine's built in Administrator account then all is well. However I have an account on the remote machine named remoteexec which is a member of the Administrators group (we disable our Administrator accounts). If I use this account then I get Access Denied errors. I've done all the usual things such as checking passwords and the like. Why would this be?

The same command has worked previously with our Win2K3 hosts - so we're presuming it is some form of security change between the 2003 and 2008R2. Anyone have any clues?

The file %APPDATA%\Roaming\Microsoft\ExchangeRemotePowerShell\DOMAINNAME\DOMAINNAME.format.ps1xml is not digitally signed. The script will not execute on the system. Please see "get-help about_signing" for more details... The %APPDATA% is stored on an external server on my network (that I can ping to without problems). I am missing a ton of PS cmdlets too, which I'm presuming are stored in '*.format.ps1xml' Can someone tell me where to start?

It occurs when the installer tries to execute C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\netcfg.exe -add service vflt C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\drivers\vfilter.inf Antivirus, firewall, etc are disabled and I'm running as an administrator. I've installed vfilter.inf manually, but it leads nowhere. I have a similar situation with the Cisco VPN client. I need a VPN client supports group authorization, and imports the settings from pcf format. Windows Vista 32-bit, Shrew client 2.1.5, also try 2.0.0 for 32-bit.

Dean Richardson Update: Thanks to quanta's suggestion, I looked at the /var/log/mysql/error.log file. I found error messages relating to pointers, fatal signals, and more stuff that I really couldn't make much sense of. I also found mysql man page references, however. One suggested that I try starting mysqld with the --innodb_force_recovery=# option, then attempt to dump (or drop) the offending/corrupted database or table. I worked through the escalating option levels one-by-one (innodb_force_recovery=1, innodb_force_recovery=2, etc.) This allowed me to successfully run mysql -u root -p from the command line and execute several commands. I was able to run queries on my production database, but any attempt to query, dump, or even drop my development database raised an error and led to me losing the connection to mysql. So I've made progress, but until I'm somehow able to drop or repair my development db I'm still unable to get my app to load. Any further advice or suggestions? Thanks! • Problem using psexec to remotely GAC a file

  As part of a deployment process I am trying to GAC a series of files. The actual build process occurs on a build server, and I am trying to use psexec to GAC the files on whichever machine has requested the build. The current line I am trying to execute is: C:\PsToolspsexec.exe \COMPUTER -u USER -p PASS gacutil.exe -i Assembly.dll -f The error that I am getting back is: Failure adding assembly to the cache: The system cannot find the file specified. So apparently the dll reference is on the remote box, and unfortunately the dll is sitting on the build box. Is there any way to just do this with psexec somehow, or do I need to copy it to some temporary location on the \\COMPUTER? I know there are commands to copy the executable as part of the psexec process, but I can't seem to find anything similar for supporting files.

• How can I make check_nrpe wait for my remote script to finish executing?

  I have a python script that's being used as a plugin for NRPE. This script checks to see if a process if running on a virtual machine by doing an SSH one-liner with a "ps ax | grep process" attached. When executing the script manually, it works as expected and returns a single line of output for NRPE as well as a status based on whether or not the process is running. When I attempt to run the command setup to execute this script (from my Nagios server), I instantly get the output "NRPE: Unable to read output", however when I run the script manually it takes about a second before it returns output. Other commands run just fine, so it would seem like NRPE needs to wait a second or two for output rather than instantly failing, but I've been unable to find any way of accomplishing this; any tips? Thanks PS: The virtual machines are not accessible from anywhere other than the host machine, hence the need for the nrpe plugin to ssh from the host into the VM to check the process.

• Rails3 environment running very slow on Windows XP, Ubuntu 9.04, Ubuntu 9.10

  I've tried all three (granted the Ubuntu versions were via VirtualBox with XP as a host, but I gave the images all the available RAM my system has). Loading the rails environment is taking 30-60 seconds. rails console, rake test:units - anything that requires rails to load up. And not just on the first go - every time. I've even used autotest to see if it helps with execution time for unit tests, but it doesn't. Any time I change one test, it still takes 30 seconds to load them, and then about 4 seconds to execute. Has anyone else come across this issue? Has anyone figured out any way to fix this?

  I am using Robocopy for backing up my project directories to an external disk, and it works like a charm. Except for one little issue: sometimes, I wish I could override the destination directory which I specify in my Robocopy Job file (myproject.rcj) to send the files somewhere else.   I have a web application in which our outside customers need access to run transactions (stored procs on Sql Server) on our domain. We have looked into LDS to keep these users separate from our domain. The problem we are having is allowing the LDS users the AD security rights to access these stored procs. For administration purposes we would like to use an AD group for each transaction (stored proc) which has access to execute. Is there a way to add LDS users to this AD group or allow them the security rights to do this? We have setup LDS and can authenicate an AD user thru to runs these transactions. LDS is running on Server 08 R2. AD is also Server 08 R2. Thanks.

  How can I permanently add virtual wireless interfaces to my network configuration with iw? I created the following interfaces: iw phy phy0 interface add vwlan0 type station iw phy phy0 interface add vwlan1 type __ap The first is configured as a wifi client connecting to an existing network (wpa_supplicant) The second is configured as wireless hotspot (hostapd + dnsmasq) The setup works, but now I can't quite figure out what the best strategy is to save this configuration permanently. Have made an init script for wpa_supplicant Have made an init script for the hotspot Virtual adaptor network settings set in /etc/network/interfaces But all this depends on the wireless interfaces being created. What would be the best way to make sure these interfaces are created before the network is set up and the services are run? As a bonus, since this wireless interface is a usb device, would it be possible to have the interfaces created (and the services started) when the interface is hotplugged? I know you can execute code after a network interface is up, but the wlan0 interface that is hotplugged should never be up. Operating system is raspbian

  I had been practicing ASP on my local machine.. I just wanted to change the TCP port address to 8080 and that is what I did, since then the URL "http://localhost/" is showing PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED, and technical reason being shown is : "You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed." I tried to change back the TCP port address to 80, (which is default) but its not making any difference. What should I do now, to make localhost to work as before ? When I create a virtual directory for the same path "C:/InetPub/wwwroot" then it works but with this URL "http://localhost/virualname/filename.asp" .. where as "http://localhost/filename.asp" throws error, as mentioned above.
