  • Increasing the JVM maximum heap size for memory intensive applications

    - by Alceu Costa
    I need to run a Java memory intensive application that uses more than 2GB, but I am having problems to increase the heap maximum size. So far, I have tried the following approaches: Setting the -Xmx parameter, e.g. -Xmx3000m. This approaches fails at the creation of the JVM. From what I've googled, it looks like that -Xmx must be less than 2GB. Using the -XX:+AggressiveHeap option. When I try this approach I get an 'Not enough memory' error that tells that the heap size is 1273.4 MB, even though my computer has 8GB of memory. Is there another approach that I can try to increase the maximum heap size of the JVM? Here's a summary of the computer specs: OS: Windows 7 (64 bit) Processor: Intel Core i7 (2.66 GHz) Memory: 8 GB

  • Remove binding to FrameworkElementFactory

    - by Damien
    I am currently creating a datatemplate to display data in a listview control in a specific manner and bound to the data. This works fine. But I need to be able to remove the bindings when the screen is closed and control is being disposed. How can I do this? I am thinking of just passing null as the second parameter of SetBinding and not sure if this will fix the issue. Also I have tried BindingOperation.ClearBindings, but I have a FrameworkElementFactory object and not a DependancyObject. Any help would be appricaited. //Create a Element Factory object to save the elements that make //up the DataTemplate cellTemplateFactory = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(TextBlock)); //Set the binding to the text property of the textblock element var binding = new Binding(dispColumn.BindingField) { TargetNullValue = string.Empty, Mode = BindingMode.OneTime };

  • what is a performance way to 'tree-walking' through my Entity Framework data

    - by Greg
    Hi, I have a Entity Framework design with a few tables that define a "graph". So there can be a large chain of relationships between objects in the few tables via concept of parent/child relationships. What is a performance way to 'tree-walking' through my Entity Framework data? That is I assume I wouldn't want to load the full set of all NODES and RELATIONSHIPS from the database for the purpose of walking the tree, where the end result may only be identifying leaf nodes? Or would this be OK with the way lazy loading may work at the column/parameter level? Else how could I load just the skeleton of the objects and then when needing to refer to any attributes have them lazy load then?

  • C2664 when casting child class to templated parent class

    - by DC
    I have a parent class which is templated, and a child class which implements it. template< typename T1, typename T2> class ParentClass{ . . . }; class ChildClass : public ParentClass<MyT1, MyT2> { . . . }; And I want to have a pointer which I can use polymorphically: ParentClass<T1, T2>* ptr; ptr = static_cast<ParentClass<MyT1, MyT2>* >(new ChildClass() ); No matter how I cast it, I always get a C2664 which has the same expression: error C2664: cannot convert parameter 1 from 'ParentClass< T1,T2 *' to 'ParentClass< T1,T2 *' Is it not possible to cast pointer types between inherited types if the parent is templated, even if the types specified in the templates are the same?

  • Transfer of control and data between C and C#

    - by Prithvi
    C# main program needs to call a C program GA.c This C code executes many functions and one function initialize() calls objective() function. But this objective function needs to be written in C#.This call is in a loop in the C code and the C code needs to continue execution after the return from objective() until its main is over and return control to C# main program. C# main() { //code call to GA in C; //remaining code; } GA in C: Ga Main() { //code call to initialize function(); //remaining code } initialize funtion() in GA { for(some condition) { //code call to objective(parameter) function in C#; //code } } How do we do this?

  • Drupal. Use AJAX to update view's content

    - by ozke
    Hi, I've created a view in Drupal that retrieves a list of nodes. The display of this view is a page and it works perfectly well. It does even allow me to filter its content by argument. See the current's view configuration (click to enlarge): I want to use AJAX to use the filter (by parameter) functionality without reloading the page. I've enabled the "Use AJAX" option but I am not sure on how to continue. Any ideas on how to do that? By the way, I'm building my own theme (in case that changes anything). Thanks in advance Update: Basically, this view works when I browse through section/parameter1, section/parameter2... but I want to do the same with AJAX, without reloading the page. I hope is clearer now

  • Optimize C# Code Fragment

    - by Eric J.
    I'm profiling some C# code. The method below is one of the most expensive ones. For the purpose of this question, assume that micro-optimization is the right thing to do. Is there an approach to improve performance of this method? Changing the input parameter to p to ulong[] would create a macro inefficiency. static ulong Fetch64(byte[] p, int ofs = 0) { unchecked { ulong result = p[0 + ofs] + ((ulong)p[1 + ofs] << 8) + ((ulong)p[2 + ofs] << 16) + ((ulong)p[3 + ofs] << 24) + ((ulong)p[4 + ofs] << 32) + ((ulong)p[5 + ofs] << 40) + ((ulong)p[6 + ofs] << 48) + ((ulong)p[7 + ofs] << 56); return result; } }

  • zend_acl: Adding extra resources dynamically and getting a param predispatch

    - by Timmeh
    First sorry about the woffle as I'm not sure how best to describe this. Basically I am not sure how I can get param in the bootstrap before the controller is loaded, but here is the long winded version... I have got an acl class storing all my default resources in. All my page/post content is a database and I want the admin the ability to choose who which role the page would become available. I know it is possible just to loop through the database table and add them all in at once, but I am concerned that this is a drain on resources. I have it working whereby my access check plugin can call a dynamic permission function, but I need to get the parameter of the current page ID and it's permission to set it before the controller is loaded. Does that make sense or am I worry over nothing and I should just get the resources of all the pages at once? thanks in advance for reading my garble!!

  • Use Regular expression with fileinput

    - by chrissygormley
    Hello, I am trying to replace a variable stored in another file using regular expression. The code I have tried is: r = re.compile(r"self\.uid\s*=\s*('\w{12})'") for line in fileinput.input(['file.py'], inplace=True): print line.replace(r.match(line), sys.argv[1]), The format of the variable in the file is: self.uid = '027FC8EBC2D1' I am trying to pass in a parameter in this format and use regular expression to verify that the sys.argv[1] is correct format and to find the variable stored in this file and replace it with the new variable. Can anyone help. Thanks for the help.

  • innodb lock wait timeout

    - by shantanuo
    As per the documentation link given below: When a lock wait timeout occurs, the current statement is not executed. The current transaction is not rolled back. (Until MySQL 5.0.13 InnoDB rolled back the entire transaction if a lock wait timeout happened. You can restore this behavior by starting the server with the --innodb_rollback_on_timeout option, available as of MySQL 5.0.32. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/innodb-parameters.html#sysvar_innodb_lock_wait_timeout Does it mean that when a lock wait timeout occurs, it compromises the transactional integrity? "roollback on timeout" was the default behaviour till 5.0.13 and I guess that was the correct way to handle such situations. Does anyone think that this should be the default behaviour and the user should not be asked to add a parameter for a functionality that is taken for granted?

  • CDI @Conversation not propagated with handleNavigation()

    - by Thomas Kernstock
    I have a problem with the propagation of a long runnig conversation when I redirect the view by the handleNavigation() method. Here is my test code: I have a conversationscoped bean and two views: conversationStart.xhtml is called in Browser with URL http://localhost/tests/conversationStart.jsf?paramTestId=ParameterInUrl <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"> <f:metadata> <f:viewParam name="paramTestId" value="#{conversationTest.fieldTestId}" /> <f:event type="preRenderView" listener="#{conversationTest.preRenderView}" /> </f:metadata> <h:head> <title>Conversation Test</title> </h:head> <h:body> <h:form> <h2>Startpage Test Conversation with Redirect</h2> <h:messages /> <h:outputText value="Testparameter: #{conversationTest.fieldTestId}"/><br /> <h:outputText value="Logged In: #{conversationTest.loggedIn}"/><br /> <h:outputText value="Conversation ID: #{conversationTest.convID}"/><br /> <h:outputText value="Conversation Transient: #{conversationTest.convTransient}"/><br /> <h:commandButton action="#{conversationTest.startLogin}" value="Login ->" rendered="#{conversationTest.loggedIn==false}" /><br /> <h:commandLink action="/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml?faces-redirect=true" value="Login ->" rendered="#{conversationTest.loggedIn==false}" /><br /> </h:form> <h:link outcome="/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml" value="Login Link" rendered="#{conversationTest.loggedIn==false}"> <f:param name="cid" value="#{conversationTest.convID}"></f:param> </h:link> </h:body> </html> The Parameter is written to the beanfield and displayed in the view correctly. There are 3 different possibilites to navigate to the next View. All 3 work fine. The beanfield shows up the next view (conversationLogin.xhtml) too: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"> <h:head> <title>Conversation Test</title> </h:head> <h:body> <h:form> <h2>Loginpage Test Conversation with Redirect</h2> <h:messages /> <h:outputText value="Testparameter: #{conversationTest.fieldTestId}"/><br /> <h:outputText value="Logged In: #{conversationTest.loggedIn}"/><br /> <h:outputText value="Conversation ID: #{conversationTest.convID}"/><br /> <h:outputText value="Conversation Transient: #{conversationTest.convTransient}"/><br /> <h:commandButton action="#{conversationTest.login}" value="Login And Return" /><br /> </h:form> </h:body> </html> When I return to the Startpage by clicking the button the conversation bean still contains all values. So everything is fine. Here is the bean: package test; import java.io.Serializable; import javax.annotation.PostConstruct; import javax.enterprise.context.Conversation; import javax.enterprise.context.ConversationScoped; import javax.faces.event.ComponentSystemEvent; import javax.inject.Inject; import javax.inject.Named; @Named @ConversationScoped public class ConversationTest implements Serializable{ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; final String CONVERSATION_NAME="longRun"; @Inject Conversation conversation; private boolean loggedIn; private String fieldTestId; @PostConstruct public void init(){ if(conversation.isTransient()){ conversation.begin(CONVERSATION_NAME); System.out.println("New Conversation started"); } loggedIn=false; } public String getConvID(){ return conversation.getId(); } public boolean isConvTransient(){ return conversation.isTransient(); } public boolean getLoggedIn(){ return loggedIn; } public String startLogin(){ return "/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml?faces-redirect=true"; } public String login(){ loggedIn=true; return "/tests/conversationStart.xhtml?faces-redirect=true"; } public void preRenderView(ComponentSystemEvent ev) { // if(!loggedIn){ // System.out.println("Will redirect to Login"); // FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(); // ctx.getApplication().getNavigationHandler().handleNavigation(ctx, null, "/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml?faces-redirect=true"); // ctx.renderResponse(); // } } public void setFieldTestId(String fieldTestId) { System.out.println("fieldTestID was set to: "+fieldTestId); this.fieldTestId = fieldTestId; } public String getFieldTestId() { return fieldTestId; } } Now comes the problem !! As soon as I try to redirect the page in the preRenderView method of the bean (just uncomment the code in the method), using handleNavigation() the bean is created again in the next view instead of using the allready created instance. Although the cid parameter is propagated to the next view ! Has anybody an idea what's wrong ? best regards Thomas

  • Mongodb using db.help() on a particular db command

    - by user1325696
    When I type db.help() It returns DB methods: db.addUser(username, password[, readOnly=false]) db.auth(username, password) ... ... db.printShardingStatus() ... ... db.fsyncLock() flush data to disk and lock server for backups db.fsyncUnock() unlocks server following a db.fsyncLock() I'd like to find out how to get more detailed help for the particular command. The problem was with the printShardingStatus as it returned "too many chunks to print, use verbose if you want to print" mongos> db.printShardingStatus() --- Sharding Status --- sharding version: { "_id" : 1, "version" : 3 } shards: { "_id" : "shard0000", "host" : "localhost:10001" } { "_id" : "shard0001", "host" : "localhost:10002" } databases: { "_id" : "admin", "partitioned" : false, "primary" : "config" } { "_id" : "dbTest", "partitioned" : true, "primary" : "shard0000" } dbTest.things chunks: shard0001 12 shard0000 19 too many chunks to print, use verbose if you want to for ce print I found that for that particular command I can specify boolean parameter db.printShardingStatus(true) which wasn't shown using db.help().

  • Error in my OO Generics design. How do I workaround it?

    - by John
    I get "E2511 Type parameter 'T' must be a class type" on the third class. type TSomeClass=class end; ParentParentClass<T>=class end; ParentClass<T: class> = class(ParentParentClass<T>) end; ChildClass<T: TSomeClass> = class(ParentClass<T>) end; I'm trying to write a lite Generic Array wrapper for any data type(ParentParentClass) ,but because I'm unable to free type idenitifiers( if T is TObject then Tobject(T).Free) , I created the second class, which is useful for class types, so I can free the objects. The third class is where I use my wrapper, but the compiler throws that error. How do I make it compile?

  • ASP.NET MVC, JSON & non JavaScript clients

    - by redsquare
    I need to ensure that an application I am developing is accessable and also works with JavaScript turned off. I just need a pointer to assist with the following. I had 3 'chained' select boxes and I wanted JavaScript enabled clients to have a nice Ajax experience. I can easily write the required functionality to populate the chained boxes on the change event of the preceeding select using jQuery and JSON with a WCF service. However what about the non JavaScript client? Would I wrap a submit next to the select and place these inside their own form to post back with a certain action or different querstring parameter? Can the same controller give me a partial JSON response as well as feeding the full HTML response. Can anyone point me to a good demo that utilises both JSON and normal HTTP posts to produce the same result in ASP.NET MVC. All ASP.NET MVC demo/examples I see forget about the non JavaScript enabled client.

  • Korn Shell - Test with variable that may be not set

In some cases the file name not have an extension, and this causes the FILE_EXT variable to be empty, which causes the following error: ./script[37]: test: 0403-004 Specify a parameter with this command. How should I be calling this function so that I do not get this error?

  • internet explorer, google chrome injection

    - by Volim Te
    I wrote code that injects a function in Internet Explorer/Chrome but it doesn't work with these processes. Basically, it fills one big structure with all the APIs my function needs, strings, and other data, then it opens a process to get a handle, virtualallocex to allocate enough memory to store a function and structure there, and it writes the function and the structure in allocated memory. It then runs createremotethread there with the function as a starting address and structure as parameter. It works all great with calc/notepad/winamp processes but I have problems with browser injection. I'm wondering what could it be, I'm using these APIs. x.xCreateFile x.xWriteFile x.xCloseHandle x.xSleep x.xVirtualAlloc x.xVirtualFree x.xMessageBox x.xLoadLibrary x.xShellExecute Is it because browsers are protected now and they're running with lowest privileges?

  • uint8_t and unsigned char linking error

    - by mnn
    I'm using template function: template<typename T> void func(const T& value) { obj->func(value); } where obj is object of class: void my_object::func(int64_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint64_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint32_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint16_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint8_t value) { ... } The problem is with uint8_t overload of my_object::func() override. Linker complains about unresolved external symbols to overloads, which should have unsigned char parameter. Should I replace uint8_t overload with unsigned char overload? Edit: Just now noticed, that linker complains about uint64_t and int64_t too. I compile on Windows using MSVC++ 2008 Express.

  • K&R Exercise 1-21 - Mental incomprehension.

    - by asdfg
    The "impossible" K&R exercise. "Write a program entab that replaces strings of blanks by the minimum number of tabs and blanks to achieve the same spacing. Use the same tab stops, say every n columns. Should n be a variable or a symbolic parameter?" The problem I'm having is, I'm unsure about how to even do this correctly. I know it's not very explanatory, but that's pretty much the problem here. Most of the examples I've seen have counted a number of blanks, and replaced those series with a tab, but this isn't what its asking, I reckon I understand what its asking, but currently feel unable to do this. Could anyone help :)

  • MS SQL Server 2008 Stored Procedure Result as Column Default Value

    - by user337501
    First of all, thank you guys. You always know how to direct me when I cant even find the words to explain what the heck im trying to do. The default values of the columns on a couple of my tables need to equal the result of some complicated calculations on other columns in other tables. My first thought is to simply have the column default value equal the result of a stored procedure. I would also have one or more of the parameters pulled from the columns in the calling table. I don't know the syntax of how to do it though, and any time the word "stored" and "procedure" land next to each other in google I'm flooded with info on Parameter default values and nothing relating to what I actually want. Half of that was more of a vent than a question...any ideas though? And plz plz dont say "Well, you could use an On-Insert Trigger to..."

  • Replace repeating character with array elements in PHP

    - by Will Croft
    I hope this is blindingly obvious: I'm looking for the fastest way to replace a repeating element in a string with the elements in a given array, e.g. for SQL queries and parameter replacement. $query = "SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = ? AND c = ?"; $params = array('bee', 'see'); Here I would like to replace the instances of ? with the corresponding ordered array elements, as so: SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = 'bee' and c = 'see' I see that this might be done using preg_replace_callback, but is this the fastest way or am I missing something obvious?

  • Policy based design and defaults.

    - by Noah Roberts
    Hard to come up with a good title for this question. What I really need is to be able to provide template parameters with different number of arguments in place of a single parameter. Doesn't make a lot of sense so I'll go over the reason: template < typename T, template <typename,typename> class Policy = default_policy > struct policy_based : Policy<T, policy_based<T,Policy> > { // inherits R Policy::fun(arg0, arg1, arg2,...,argn) }; // normal use: policy_base<type_a> instance; // abnormal use: template < typename PolicyBased > // No T since T is always the same when you use this struct custom_policy {}; policy_base<type_b,custom_policy> instance; The deal is that for many abnormal uses the Policy will be based on one single type T, and can't really be parameterized on T so it makes no sense to take T as a parameter. For other uses, including the default, a Policy can make sense with any T. I have a couple ideas but none of them are really favorites. I thought that I had a better answer--using composition instead of policies--but then I realized I have this case where fun() actually needs extra information that the class itself won't have. This is like the third time I've refactored this silly construct and I've got quite a few custom versions of it around that I'm trying to consolidate. I'd like to get something nailed down this time rather than just fish around and hope it works this time. So I'm just fishing for ideas right now hoping that someone has something I'll be so impressed by that I'll switch deities. Anyone have a good idea? Edit: You might be asking yourself why I don't just retrieve T from the definition of policy based in the template for default_policy. The reason is that default_policy is actually specialized for some types T. Since asking the question I have come up with something that may be what I need, which will follow, but I could still use some other ideas. template < typename T > struct default_policy; template < typename T, template < typename > class Policy = default_policy > struct test : Policy<test<T,Policy>> {}; template < typename T > struct default_policy< test<T, default_policy> > { void f() {} }; template < > struct default_policy< test<int, default_policy> > { void f(int) {} }; Edit: Still messing with it. I wasn't too fond of the above since it makes default_policy permanently coupled with "test" and so couldn't be reused in some other method, such as with multiple templates as suggested below. It also doesn't scale at all and requires a list of parameters at least as long as "test" has. Tried a few different approaches that failed until I found another that seems to work so far: template < typename T > struct default_policy; template < typename T, template < typename > class Policy = default_policy > struct test : Policy<test<T,Policy>> {}; template < typename PolicyBased > struct fetch_t; template < typename PolicyBased, typename T > struct default_policy_base; template < typename PolicyBased > struct default_policy : default_policy_base<PolicyBased, typename fetch_t<PolicyBased>::type> {}; template < typename T, template < typename > class Policy > struct fetch_t< test<T,Policy> > { typedef T type; }; template < typename PolicyBased, typename T > struct default_policy_base { void f() {} }; template < typename PolicyBased > struct default_policy_base<PolicyBased,int> { void f(int) {} };

  • Counting characters in an Access database column using SQL

    - by jzr
    I have the following table col1 col2 col3 col4 ==== ==== ==== ===== 1233 4566 ABCD CDEF 1233 4566 ACD1 CDEF 1233 4566 D1AF CDEF I need to count the characters in col3, so from the data in the previous table it would be: char count ==== ===== A 3 B 1 C 2 D 3 F 1 1 2 Is this possible to achieve by using SQL only? At the moment I am thinking of passing a parameter in to SQL query and count the characters one by one and then sum, however I did not start the VBA part yet, and frankly wouldn't want to do that. This is my query at the moment: PARAMETERS X Long; SELECT First(Mid(TABLE.col3,X,1)) AS [col3 Field], Count(Mid(TABLE.col3,X,1)) AS Dcount FROM TEST GROUP BY Mid(TABLE.col3,X,1) HAVING (((Count(Mid([TABLE].[col3],[X],1)))>=1)); Ideas and help are much appreciated, as I don't usually work with Access and SQL.

  • How can I change or remove HttpRequest input arguments in a HttpModule

    - by Eric Gunn
    Is it possible to change or remove http request form inputs in an httpmodule? My goal is to create a security IHttpmodule that will check the request for reasonable values, such as limits on acceptable input and query parameter length, or use the AntiXSS Sanitizer to remove threats, log potential hack attempts, etc. before a request is passed on to a processor. Because this is a cross cutting concern I'd prefer to find a solution that applies to all requests and affects all ways request values could be accessed, Reqest.Form, Action(model), Action(FormCollection), HttpContext.Current.Request.Form, etc. I'm using MVC and have considered creating custom model binders to clean the data before creating the model instance. But that would be application specific, require remembering to register every model binder and only apply to Action(model).
