  I have installed xfig on my computer(MacOSX) but in order to complete the instalation I need a make install inside the source directory of xfig. I used the command whereis xfig in order to find the path of the source of xfig (as I cannot find it otherwise) but when I type this command I get no answer as i.e: hcp249:~ madalinahodorog$ whereis xfig hcp249:~ madalinahodorog$ why dont I get some answer? how can I find the path to the source of xfig? thank you in advance, madalina

  I just downloaded wxWidget source code on my snow leopard machine. The source code is the multiplatform one, so it contains windows and GTK components of wxWidget as well. I'd like to compile the wxWidget source code, but haven't found a good guide yet. This is my first step to create a multiplatform project, hopefully I would be able to use CMake to generate makefile later on. Any help would be appreciated.

• Why are my Flex resource bundles not being loaded?

  I have an Actionscript module in the flex source folder filterModules, which is one of two additional source folders in my project (the main source folder is reports, but I'm not dealing with anything in there right now). Here's the MXML content that references the resources. ... This array is assigned to the dataProvider field of a ComboBox. It's not bound using the bindings, presumably for reasons that made sense to the original developer, and it'd be nontrivial to change the class to make that happen. I additionally have a resource property file in a folder resources/en_US and I have the source folder resources/{locale} in the project source settings. My additional compiler options are -locale en_US. The resource property file is resources/en_US/labels.properties (All paths are relative to the flash builder project root) and contains (amongst other things) these keys: metric.q3 = Overall Satisfaction metric.q5 = Personnel metric.q9a = Issue Resolution metric.q42 = Visit Duration Sat metric.q34 = Visit Duration I have written some FlexUnit tests that run in my local Flash Player that exercise these resources -- they check that every label is represented in the metrics array, for example, so I know that the resource file is loaded when run locally. However, when I copy the module .swf file over to my server, the combo box to which the array is assigned is empty. I copy the .swf like so, if it matters: rsync -rlDv --inplace -T /tmp ~/projects/flex_reports/bin-debug/rankingFilter.swf HOSTNAME:WEBROOT/flashPath/ Why is this? I am not able to debug the remote module because our surrounding site sets up a lot of context and makes some database calls to determine which module to load. I'm hoping to get some pointers on why resource bundles might not show up. I'd understand it if the array was present with wrong labels, but the array is instead completely empty, which is pretty odd.

  I execute the following command line for ffmpeg.exe -i C:\Beema\video-source\DO_U_BEEMA176x144short.avi -i C:\Beema\video-source\DO_U_BEEMA176x144short.avi -i C:\Beema\temp\9016730-51056331-stitcheds.avi -i C:\Beema\video-source\GOTTA_BEEMA176x144short.avi -y -ac 1 -r 24 -b 25K C:\Beema\video-out\9a062fb6-d448-48fe-b006-a85d51adf8a1.mpg The output file in video-out ends up having a single copy of DO_U_BEEMA. I do not understand why ffmpeg is not concatenating. Any help is dramatically appreciated,

• Web Development Goes Pre-Visual InterDev

  As a longtime and hardcore ASP.NET webforms developer, I’m finding the new client-side development world a bit of a grind.  I love learning new technologies, but I can’t help feeling we’ve regressed and lost our old RAD advantage as we move heavy lifting to the client. For my latest project, I’m using Telerik’s KendoUI in Visual Studio 2012. To say I feel clumsy writing this much JavaScript is an understatement. It seems like the only safe way to ‘write’ this code is by copying a working snippet from someone else and pasting it into my HTML page.  For me, JavaScript has largely been for small UI tasks like client-side validation and a bit of AJAX – and often emitted by a server-side control. I find myself today lost in nests of curly braces that Ctrl+K, Ctrl+D doesn’t seem to understand that well either. IntelliSense, my old syntax saviour, doesn’t seem to have kept up with this cobweb of code either. Code completion? Not seeing it. As I fumbled about this evening, I thought about how web development rocketed forward when Microsoft introduced Visual InterDev. Its Design-Time Controls (DTCs) changed the way we created sites. All the iterations of Visual Studio have enhanced that server-side experience where you let a tool write the bulk of the code and manually finesse it from there. What happened? Why am I typing  properties and values (especially default values!) into VS 2012 to get a client-side grid on a page? Where are the drag and drop objects that traditionally provided 70 percent of the mark-up and configuration?  Did we forget how to write Property Pages where you enter a value and the correct syntax appears magically in the source code? To me, the tooling was looking the other way as the scene shifted from server-side code to nimble client-side script. It’ll have to catch up. Although JavaScript is the lingua franca of web browsers, the language is unwieldy, tough to maintain, and messy to debug. If a .NET JIT compiler can turn our VB, F#, and C# source code into an Intermediate Language that executes on a computer, I don’t see why there can’t be a client-side compiler that turns a .NET language into JavaScript that browsers can consume.

  Hi, I have a SingletonClass, which has only one instance. I want to expand it and add to it a category (MoreFeatures). I created a source SingletonClass+MoreFeatures, which interface/implementation looks like that: @interface SingletonClass (MoreFeatures) - (void) feature; @end @implementation SingletonClass (MoreFeatures) - (void) feature() { } @end When I created my SingletonClass i followed the Apple's example of Singleton implementation in cocoa. This singleton resides in a project B, which is a dependency of a bigger project A. I can call for [[SingletonClass sharedInstance] foo] from a source in project A and it works in case that function foo is located in SingletonClass interface/implementation. When I try to call [[SingletonClass sharedInstance] feature] from a source in project A, I get a crash, which says that there is no method feature for class SingletonClass... Why it happens? • TFS 2008 warning when trying to add set-up project

  I have a similar problem to that mentioned here. However, mine is in TFS 2008. I get the following warning when trying to add a set-up project to an existing solution (either just create the set-up project or “add to source control”). The project that you are attempting to add to source control may cause other source control users to have difficulty opening this solution or getting newer versions of it. To avoid this problem, add the project from a location below the binding root of the other source controlled projects in the solution Continue / Cancel As with the question above, I think my folder structure is at fault. However, the current folder structure is as follows: Solution Main Project My guess is that, for some reason it’s trying to add the set-up project directly into the solution folder. So, is there a way to validate where it’s trying to add this without selecting “Continue” above? Alternatively, is there a way to force the set-up project to create in its own folder?

  I have Debian based system (Ubuntu 11.10) on XEN VPS. I've installed OpenVPN and works great. I need to install PPTP too, so did it and clients can connect, but they have no internet on client side. If I connect to VPN over PPTP I can ping and access to only my VPS by its IP, but ony that. There's no "internet" on client side. It looks it's not DNS problems (I'm using 8.8.8.8) because I can't ping known IPs. I bet the solution is simple, but don't have any idea.   New to pthread programming, and stuck on this error when working on a C++&C mixed code. What I have done is to call the c code in the thread created by the c++ code. There is a static boolean pointer used in the thread and should got free when the thread finishes. However I noticed that every time when the program processed into the c function, the value of the boolean pointer would be changed and the segmentation fault then happened due to the free().
