  • Xcode 4: deleting items in Build Settings

    In XCode 4.0 there's a newly designed Build Settings page. My problem is that I can't see how to remove a setting once I've specified it. Example: I've changed "Versioning System" to "Apple Generic" at the target level. Afterwards I realised I should set it at the project level, and so I want to delete the target level setting. However, there's no way I can see to remove the setting -- you click on it and there's two options, neither of which is the default "not specified" empty setting. Hitting the delete key on the keyboard nothing. The same goes for fields that accept text -- if I try to delete a setting by just deleting all the text set, it still shows that field in green, but with no text in it, and regards it as the presence of a setting.

  • How to make overflow: hidden really hide content?

    Please, look at this example. I intend making horizontal layout with pure html/css, don't bother of old browsers. I made it with display: table technique. But displaying main text containers (light-yellow) became a problem. Each of this has overflow: hidden to prevent vertical scroll. Later, I intend adding some shadow effect at the bottom. Now, I want to make in, for example, 80% height with 10% margin top and bottom. But what I get is container with larger text stretching all parents container (light-green), so 80% of it became too much. Is there any way to avoid it without javascript? Maybe I can get text container any height, but with some margin at the bottom. I will appreciate any solution.

If it's in mycode.js, it's not. Every code example I've see seems to says this should work. What am I doing wrong?

I've look everywhere, and people suggest me to use NSZombieEnabled on my executables environment variables.     I'm moving a sites search over to google custom search. The old input for text looks like this: <input type="text" value="Search this website..." name="s" id="searchbox" onfocus="if (this.value == 'Search this website...') {this.value = '';}" onblur="if (this.value == '') {this.value = 'Search this website...';}" /> Now I need to Have the attr 'name' as 'q', like so: <input type="text" value="Search this website..." name="q" id="searchbox" onfocus="if (this.value == 'Search this website...') {this.value = '';}" onblur="if (this.value == '') {this.value = 'Search this website...';}" /> The odd thing is that when I swap the name over to q, I'm unable to clear the search box on focus. Am I missing something super easy?

    Hi Folks We Want to Create an online game like this.I think that ,this type of games have a scheduling software on web server. For Example : Player Click to create a resource And resource creation will be take a moment like 20 Minutes.(Every resource creation time will be different). This message will send to web server application but this message will not processed at same time for example must be processed after 20 Minutes. The web server application after getting the message must be put the order in the Queue. We have Some big problems : 1- The Jobs must be complete by the web server application Even the player Exit the Game. I think that we must create something like Windows service on Web Server. Can we do it? or Is there a better way? 2- The Second problem depended on problem 1 .Because we will have many Jobs (every player can create 20,30 Jobs in every Loggin and we will have thousands of users) , So Our Scheduling System Must be Work On time . it's possible that , there is 100 , 1000 jobs in a same second , if application Can't Done Jobs in him Second will be use the next second Time and the next second jobs will shift to next second and etc. How We can do for this problem ?     in a C# file i have a class Archiver { [DllImport("Archiver.dll")] public static extern void archive(string data, StringBuilder response); } string data is an input, and StringBuilder response is where the function writes something the archive function prototype (written in C) looks like this: void archive(char * dataChr, char * outChr); and it receives a string in dataChr, and then does a strcpy(outChr,"some big text"); from C# i call it something like this: string message = "some text here"; StringBuilder response = new StringBuilder(10000); Archiver.archive(message,response); this works, but the problem, as you might see is that i give a value to the StringBuilder size, but the archive function might give back a (way) larger text than the size i've given to my StringBuilder. any way to fix this?

  • Div, Background Image, and Image Map

    On a web page I'm creating, I have a div with a background image. I overlay some text over the image that I'll be changing frequently, so that's why I'm using a background image and real text instead of an img tag that contains the text. The background image contains some click-able areas, so I need an image map. I think the best way to do this is to have another overlay div with a transparent image, and have an image map for the transparent image that corresponds to the background area click-able areas. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way?

  • Does QThread::sleep() require the event loop to be running?

    I have a simple client-server program written in Qt, where processes communicate using MPI. The basic design I'm trying to implement is the following: The first process (the "server") launches a GUI (derived from QMainWindow), which listens for messages from the clients (using repeat fire QTimers and asynchronous MPI receive calls), updates the GUI depending on what messages it receives, and sends a reply to every message. Every other process (the "clients") runs in an infinite loop, and all they are intended to do is send a message to the server process, receive the reply, go to sleep for a while, then wake up and repeat. Every process instantiates a single object derived from QThread, and calls its start() method. The run() method of these classes all look like this: from foo.cpp: void Foo::run() { while (true) { // Send message to the first process // Wait for a reply // Do uninteresting stuff with the reply sleep(3); // also tried QThread::sleep(3) } } In the client's code, there is no call to exec() anywhere, so no event loop should start. The problem is that the clients never wake up from sleeping (if I surround the sleep() call with two writes to a log file, only the first one is executed, control never reaches the second). Is this because I didn't start the event loop? And if so, what is the simplest way to achieve the desired functionality?

  • Why Date Format in ASP NET MVC Differs when used inside Html Helper?

    Hi, I just came across a very interesting issue. If I use ViewData to pass a DateTime value to the view and then display it inside a textbox, even though I'm using String.Format in the exact same manner, I get different formatting results when using the Html.TextBox helper. <%= Html.TextBox("datefilter", String.Format("{0:d}", ViewData["datefilter"]))%> <input id="test" name="test" type="text" value="<%: String.Format("{0:d}", ViewData["datefilter"]) %>" /> The above code renders the following html: <input id="datefilter" name="datefilter" type="text" value="2010-06-18" /> <input id="test" name="test" type="text" value="18/06/2010" /> Notice how the fist line that uses the Html helper produces the date format in one way while the second one produces a very different output. Any ideas why? Note: I'm currently in Brazil, so the standard short date format here is dd/MM/yyyy.

    I'm trying to read the public twitter status of a user so I can display it in my Windows Phone application. I'm using Scott Gu's example: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2010/03/18/building-a-windows-phone-7-twitter-application-using-silverlight.aspx When my code comes back from the async call, I get a "System.Security.SecurityException" as soon as I try to use the e.Result. I know my uri is correct because I can plop it in the browser and get good results.     Coming from Perl, I sure am missing the "here-document" means of creating a multi-line string in source code: $string = <<"EOF" # create a three line string text text text EOF In Java I have to have cumbersome quotes and plus signs on every line as I concatenate my multiline string from scratch. What are some better alternatives? Define my string in a properties file? Edit: Two answers say StringBuilder.append() is preferable to the plus notation. Could anyone elaborate as to why they think so? It doesn't look more preferable to me at all. I'm looking for away around the fact that multiline strings are not a first-class language construct, which means I definitely don't want to replace a first-class language construct (string concatenation with plus) with method calls. Edit: To clarify my question further, I'm not concerned about performance at all. I'm concerned about maintainability and design issues.

  • FreeTDS runs out of memory from DBD::Sybase

    When I add client charset = UTF-8 to my freetds.conf file, my DBD::Sybase program emits: Out of memory! and terminates. This happens when I call execute() on an SQL query statement that returns any ntext fields. I can return numeric data, datetimes, and nvarchars just fine, but whenever one of the output fields is ntext, I get this error. All these queries work perfectly fine without the UTF-8 setting, but I do need to handle some characters that throw warnings under the default character set. (See related question.) The error message is not formatted the same way other DBD::Sybase error messages seem to be formatted. I do get a message that a rollback() is being issued, though. (My false AutoCommit flag is being honored.) I think I read somewhere that FreeTDS uses the iconv program to convert between character sets; is it possible that this message is being emitted from iconv? If I execute the same query with the same freetds.conf settings in tsql (FreeTDS's command-line SQL shell), I don't get the error. I'm connecting to SQL Server. What do I need to do to get these queries to return successfully?

    I'm trying to search and replace in excel, the column is formatted as 'Text'. Find: [@ replace with: @ Whenever this finds a match at the start of a cell i.e the cell contents start with [@ and tries to replace that with @ the result is an error 'This function is not valid' I guess that since the @ operator is for references, this is causing the cell to be interpreted differently (not as text anymore) How do I make this replacement work? Copy/paste into another program is not a good option because some of the cells contain line-breaks.

Also I am not sure if I'm doing some things correctly since the objective is just to pass the test, there are a lot of ways in passing it and I may be doing something that isn't up to standards. Is there a way to confirm if I'm doing things right? a specific example: in about_nil, def test_nil_is_an_object assert_equal __, nil.is_a?(Object), "Unlike NULL in other languages" end so is it telling me to check if that second clause is equal to an object(so i can say nil is an object) or just put assert_equal true, nil.is_a?(Object) because the statement is true? and the next test: def test_you_dont_get_null_pointer_errors_when_calling_methods_on_nil # What happens when you call a method that doesn't exist.   • Android EditText within a ListView

    I have created a custom Array Adapter to bind a custom row that contains some static text and an editable EditText. I am trying to register to be notified when the user changes the text within the edit text and when notified to determine which ArrayList row the modified EditText corresponds to. In the past with other types of views such as a Spinner I could simply put a reference to the parent view and the row number into the tag for the Spinner view. And then when I was notified that the value changed I read the tag to determine how to correlate it back to the master ArrayList. The problem with registering to be notifed with an EditText change is that you do not get back a view but instead get a TextWatcher and I have no way to correlate back to the parent view or ArrayList row. What is the technique that you need to use in this circumstance?
