  I am trying to use an HQL to perform a simple update in hibernate, but i can't seem to get it to work. i have a query template defined as: private static final String CHANGE_DEVICE_STATUS = "UPDATE THING" +"SET ACTIVE = ?   I have a silent installation of SQL Server 2005 that works great when installing SQL Server on a machine that does not have it already installed. • N Tiers with SubSonic 3, Dirty Columns collection is alwayes empty on update

  Hello guys here is what i am doing, and not working for me. I have a DAL generated with SubSonic 3 ActiveRecord template, i have a service layer (business layer if you well) that have mixture of facade and some validation. say i have a method on the Service layer like public void UpdateClient(Client client); in my GUI i create a Client object fill it with some data with ID and pass it to the service method and this never worked, the dirty columns collection (that track which columns are altered in order to use more efficant update statment) is alwayes empty. if i tried to get the object from database inside my GUI then pass it to the service method it's not working either. the only scenario i find working is if i query the object from the database and call Update() on the same context all inside my GUI and this defeats the whole service layer i've created. however for insert and delete everything working fine, i wonder if this have to do something with object tracking but what i know is SubSonic don't do that. please advice. thanks. • How to invoke make install for one subdirectory of Qt project

  I'm working on custom library and I wish users could just use it by adding: CONFIG += mylib to their pro files. This can be done by installing mylib.prf file to %QTDIR%/mkspec/features. I've checked out in Qt Mobility project how to create and install such file, but there is one thing I'd like to do differently. If I correctly understood the pro/pri files of Qt Mobility, inside the example projects they don't really use CONFIG += mobility, instead they add QtMobility sources to include path and share the *.obj directory with main library project. For my library I'd like to have examples that are as independent projects as possible, i.e. projects that can be compiled from anywhere once MyLib is compiled and installed. I have following directory structure: mylib | |- examples |- src |- tests \- mylib.pro It seems that the easiest way to achieve what I described above is creating mylib.pro like this: TEMPLATE = subdirs SUBDIRS += src SUBDIRS += examples tests:SUBDIRS += tests And somehow enforce invoking "cd src && make install" after building src. What is the best way to do this? Of course any other suggestions for automatic library deployment before examples compilation are welcome.

• Flexible forms and supporting database structure

  I have been tasked with creating an application that allows administrators to alter the content of the user input form (i.e. add arbitrary fields) - the contents of which get stored in a database. Think Modx/Wordpress/Expression Engine template variables. The approach I've been looking at is implementing concrete tables where the specification is consistent (i.e. user profiles, user content etc) and some generic field data tables (i.e. text, boolean) to store non-specific values. Forms (and model fields) would be generated by first querying the tables and retrieving the relevant columns - although I've yet to think about how I would setup validation. I've taken a look at this problem, and it seems to be indicating an EAV type approach - which, from my brief research - looks like it could be a greater burden than the blessings it's flexibility would bring. I've read a couple of posts here, however, which suggest this is a dangerous route: How to design a generic database whose layout may change over time?   I have a set of custom ASP.NET server controls, most of which derive from CompositeControl. I want to implement a uniform look for "required" fields across all control types by wrapping each control in a specific piece of HTML/CSS markup.   I'm trying to put together a very simple REST-style interface for communicating with our partners. • Magento help with creating model in custom class

  I'm trying to add some custom filter methods to my magento module. I though it would be simple but I can't figure out why it's not working. My model which extends the catalog/product class contains this: public function filterProdType($prod_id) { $this->addAttributeToFilter('attribute_set_id', $prod_id); } Then in my template I have this: $collection = Mage::getModel('configurator/product')->getCollection()->addAttributeToSelect('*'); $collection->filterProdType(50)->addAttributeToFilter('type_id', 'bundle'); foreach ($collection as $item){ echo $item->getName() . ', '; } Just to try things out. But I don't get any results, no error, and it doesn't finish rendering the page (missing footer). When I do this instead, it works: $collection = Mage::getModel('configurator/product')->getCollection()->addAttributeToSelect('*'); $collection->addAttributeToFilter('attribute_set_id', 50)->addAttributeToFilter('type_id', 'bundle'); foreach ($collection as $item){ echo $item->getName() . ', '; } I'm just wondering what I'm missing. UPDATE: I didn't realize error reporting was turned off, after turning it on I get the error: Fatal error: Call to undefined method Mage_Catalog_Model_Resource_Eav_Mysql4_Product_Collection::filterProdType() I assumed after instantiating $collection using my custom model, it would find my new method.

• Binding Listbox item source to a collection of collections in windows phone 7

  Hi there, I am trying to bind a Listbox ItemSource to a collection of multiple Lists. i.e. List PersonCollection List Person List Collection Now I need to show items from both of these list. In wpf you could use HierarchicalDataTemplate i believe, but not sure how I can do it in windows phone 7. Tried with Blend and it generates the following data template. <DataTemplate x:Key="PersonDataTemplate"> <Grid> <StackPanel Margin="0,0,1,0" Orientation="Vertical" VerticalAlignment="Top"> <TextBlock Margin="0,0,1,0" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding Person[0].Name}" d:LayoutOverrides="Width"/> <TextBlock Margin="0,0,1,0" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding Collection[0].Total}" d:LayoutOverrides="Width"/> </StackPanel> </Grid> </DataTemplate> Is there another way I can do this? Cant find anything similar on the net apart from the confirmation that HierarchicalDataTemplate is not supported in Windows Phone 7. I have other ways to do but none elegant.. Thanks in advance. • What is the purpose of the Html "no-js" class?

  I notice that in a lot of template engines, in the HTML5 Boilerplate, in various frameworks and in plain php sites there is the no-js class added onto the html element. Why is this done? Is there some sort of default browser behavior that reacts to this class? Why include it always? Does that not render the class itself obsolete, if there is no no-"no-js" case and html can be addressed directly? • Creating sublines on Joomla menu items

  In my toplevel menu items, I would like to make a subline for each item. I don't think it's possible to do by default, byt YooTheme has done it in many of their templates. The menu output look like this <div class="moduletable_menu"> <ul id="mainmenu" class="menu"> <li class="active item1" id="current"> <a href="URL_HIDDEN"> <span>Services</span> </a> </li> </ul> This basically outputs a one line menu item like so: Services What I would like to do is have a menu item like this: Services Service x, Service y, Service z For reference, have a look at the main menu on the YooTheme demo page. The way YooTheme does this, is using two pipes (||) as a linebreak, so in the Joomla backend you type "Services||Service x, Service y, Service z" as the menu title, and then there must be some fancy javascript that breaks this title into two spans, ready to be styled using css. Does anyone know of an easy way to code this? Please note that I am looking to build this feature into a custom template (ie. non-yootheme). Also note that I am not using MooTools, but Jquery instead.

• Starting a code library.

  Hi, I've been meaning to start a library of reusable code snippets for a while and never seem to get round to it. I think my main problems are: Where to start. What structure should my library take? Should it be a compiled library (where appropriate or just classes I can drop into any project? Or a library project that can be included? In my experience, a built library will quickly become out of date and the source will get lost. So I'm leaning towards source libraries that I can export from SVN and include in any project. Intellectual property. I am employeed, so a lot of the code I write is not my IP. How can I ensure that I don't give my own IP away using it on projects in work and at home? I'm thinking the best way would be to licence my library with an open source licence and make sure I only add to it in my own time using my own equipment and therefore making sure that if I use it in a work project the same rules apply as if I was using a third party library. I write in many different languages and often would require two or more parts of this library. Should I look at implementing a few template projects and a core project for each of my chosen reusable components and languages? Has anyone else got this sort of library and how do you organise and update it?

  I have a php/flex value object that I am using to transmit data to/from in my application. Everything works great php-flex, but I am having an issue with flex-php. In my MergeTemplateService.php service I have the following code. This is the method that flex hits directly: function updateTemplate($valueObject){ $object = DAOFactory::getMergeTemplateDAO()->update($valueObject); return $object; } I am passing a value object that from flex looks like this: (com.rottmanj.vo::MergeTemplateVO)#0 communityID = 0 creationDate = (null) enterpriseID = 0 lastModifyDate = (null) templateID = 2 templateName = "My New Test Template" userID = 0 The issue I am having is that my updateTemplate method sees the value object as an array and not an object. But in order to keep thing short and clean, I don't prefer passing an extra parameter. Is there any way of doing this without modifying the method signature in the example?

  Hi Geeks, I have to use the third party static library for my qt application to run on windows. The third party provides me a .lib and .h file for use. These libraries are compiled with MSVC compiler. My qt Creator is using MinGW compiler to compile my application. I copied the .h and .lib file to my qt project directory and then added those in .pro file as follows QT += core gui TARGET = MyTest TEMPLATE = app LIBS += C:\Qt\2010.05\qt\MyTest\newApi.lib SOURCES += main.cpp\ mainwindow.cpp HEADERS += mainwindow.h \ newApi.h FORMS += mainwindow.ui Now I am getting some runtime error like this - Starting C:\Qt\2010.05\qt\MyTest-build-desktop\debug\MyTest.exe... C:\Qt\2010.05\qt\MyTest-build-desktop\debug\MyTest.exe exited with code -1073741515 Can any body suggest is this runtime error is due to mismatch of compiler? (because of my .lib file I added is comipled in MSVC compiler and my qt app is compiled using MinGW compiler) If not what may be the reason? Am I missing anything in adding the .h and .lib file to my qt project? If my MinGW compiler will not support the .lib file generated in MSVC compiler what may be the work-arround? Can I create the .lib files in MinGW compiler? or this format is supported only by MSVC compiler only? Please suggest...

• Java - Calling all methods of a class

  I'm currently working on an application that has to render several Freemarker templates. So far I have a Generator class that handles the rendering. The class looks more or less like this: public class Generator { public static void generate(…) { renderTemplate1(); renderTemplate2(); renderTemplate3(); } private static void render(…) { // renders the template } private static void renderTemplate1() { // Create config object for the rendering // and calls render(); }; private static void renderTemplate1() { // Create config object for the rendering // and calls render(); }; … } This works, but it doesn't really feel right. What I would like to do is create a class that holds all the renderTemplate...() methods and then call them dynamically from my Generator class. This would make it cleaner and easier to extend. I was thinking about using something like reflection, but it doesn't really feel like a good solution either. Any idea on how to implement this properly ?

  I'm a bit confused as to what i have incorrect with my script that is causing this error. I have a function which calls a fill for game settings but it doesn't like my getline. • passing string to a AJAX/JSON function

  I’m having trouble getting a AJAX/JSON function to work correctly. I had this function grabbing value from a drop down box but now I want to use an anchor tag to set it's value. I thought it would be easy to just use the onClick event to pass string to the function I was using for the drop down box but it doesn’t do anything. I’m stumped! • Help with c# event listening and usercontrols

  OK so I have a page which has a listview on it. Inside the item template of the listview is a usercontrol. This usercontrol is trying to trigger an event so that the hosting page can listen to it. My problem is that the event is not being triggered as the handler is null. (ie. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have tried setting EnableViewState to true for my listview but that hasn't made a difference. Is there somewhere else I'm supposed to be wiring up the control handler? Note - apologies if I've got my terminology wrong and I'm referring to delegates as handlers and such :)
