  • "Scheduling restart of crashed service", but no call to onStart() follows

    - by kostmo
    In the 1.6 API, is there a way to ensure that the onStart() method of a Service is called after the service is killed due to memory pressure? From the logs, it seems that the "process" that the service belongs to is restarted, but the service itself is not. I have placed a Log.d() call in the onStart() method, and this is not reached. To test my service under memory pressure, I spawn it from an activity, then launch the web browser and visit some Javascript-heavy websites like Slashdot until my service is killed. The logcat reads: 03-07 16:44:13.778: INFO/ActivityManager(52): Process com.kostmo.charbuilder.full (pid 2909) has died. 03-07 16:44:13.778: WARN/ActivityManager(52): Scheduling restart of crashed service com.kostmo.charbuilder.full/com.kostmo.charbuilder.DownloadImagesService in 5000ms 03-07 16:44:13.778: INFO/ActivityManager(52): Low Memory: No more background processes. 03-07 16:44:13.778: ERROR/ActivityThread(52): Failed to find provider info for android.server.checkin 03-07 16:44:13.778: WARN/Checkin(52): Can't log event SYSTEM_SERVICE_LOOPING: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unknown URL content://android.server.checkin/events 03-07 16:44:18.908: INFO/ActivityManager(52): Start proc com.kostmo.charbuilder.full for service com.kostmo.charbuilder.full/com.kostmo.charbuilder.DownloadImagesService: pid=3560 uid=10027 gids={3003, 1015} 03-07 16:44:19.868: DEBUG/ddm-heap(3560): Got feature list request 03-07 16:44:20.128: INFO/ActivityThread(3560): Publishing provider com.kostmo.charbuilder.full.provider.character: com.kostmo.charbuilder.provider.ImageFileContentProvider

  • addChild to root and fade in

    - by steve
    Still very newbish at Actionscript. Trying to get a website done for class on wednesday, but I can't get this one thing down. Currently there's the main timeline, then a movieclip called menu_mc, and within that are a bunch of buttons. For now, I only have one button scripted. When the button is scripted, I want a movieclip with content embedded in it to fade in on the right side, along with a close button. I can get the movie/button to appear and close, but I can't get them to fade in and out. This is what I have: import flash.display.*; import fl.transitions.*; import flash.events.MouseEvent; stop(); var closeBtn:close_btn = new close_btn(); closeBtn.x = 850; closeBtn.y = 15; var bagLink:MovieClip = new bag_link_mc(); bagLink.x = 900; bagLink.y = 0; menu_bag_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, bagClick); function bagClick(event:MouseEvent):void{ if(MovieClip(root).currentFrame == 850) { } else { MovieClip(root).addChild (bagLink); MovieClip(root).addChild (closeBtn); MovieClip(root).gotoAndPlay(806); } } closeBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeBag); function closeBag (event:MouseEvent):void{ MovieClip(root).removeChild(bagLink); MovieClip(root).removeChild(closeBtn); MovieClip(root).gotoAndPlay(850); }

  • Javascript onunload form submit isn't submitting data

    - by Kevin
    I currently have form that checks if a user has unsubmitted changes when they leave the page with a function called through the onunload event. Here's the function: function saveOnExit() { var answer = confirm("You are about to leave the page. All unsaved work will be lost. Would you like to save now?"); if (answer) { document.main_form.submit(); } } And here's the form: <body onunload="saveOnExit()"> <form name="main_form" id="main_form" method="post" action="submit.php" onsubmit="saveScroll()"> <textarea name="comments"></textarea> <input type="submit" name="submit2" value="Submit!"/> </form> I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. The data gets submitted and saved in my database if I just press the submit button for the form. However, trying to submit the form through the onunload event doesn't result in anything being stored, from what I can tell. I've tried adding onclick alerts to the submitt button and onsubmit alerts to the form elements and I can verify that the submit button is being triggered and that the form does get submitted. However, nothing gets passed stored in the database. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Writing catch block with cleanup operations in Java ...

    - by kedarmhaswade
    I was not able to find any advise on catch blocks in Java that involve some cleanup operations which themselves could throw exceptions. The classic example is that of stream.close() which we usually call in the finally clause and if that throws an exception, we either ignore it by calling it in a try-catch block or declare it to be rethrown. But in general, how do I handle cases like: public void doIt() throws ApiException { //ApiException is my "higher level" exception try { doLower(); } catch(Exception le) { doCleanup(); //this throws exception too which I can't communicate to caller throw new ApiException(le); } } I could do: catch(Exception le) { try { doCleanup(); } catch(Exception e) { //ignore? //log? } throw new ApiException(le); //I must throw le } But that means I will have to do some log analysis to understand why cleanup failed. If I did: catch(Exception le) { try { doCleanup(); } catch(Exception e) { throw new ApiException(e); } It results in losing the le that got me here in the catch block in the fist place. What are some of the idioms people use here? Declare the lower level exceptions in throws clause? Ignore the exceptions during cleanup operation?

  • How to make UIButton work like Launcher in SpringBoard, when pressed for long timeinterval

    - by KayKay
    In my ViewController I am using UIButton which triggers some action when touchedUpInside. Upto here no problem, but i also want to add another action for touchDown event. More precisely i dont have an idea how to add that action to which event, that will work the same as when App-Icon is pressed longer in springboard which causes springboard enter in editing mode.Actually what i want is : when this button is kept holding for ,say about 2 seconds it will pop-up an alertView without touch being heldUp (with finger is still on button). I have tried with 2 NSdate difference, one of which is allocated when touchedDown and other when touchUpInside. Its working and popping alert,but only after touchedUpInside. I want it to show alert without touch being removed. Here is the code. (IBAction)touchedDown:(id)sender { momentTouchedDown = [[NSDate alloc] init];//class variable NSLog(@"touched down"); } - (IBAction)touchUpInside:(id)sender { NSLog(@"touch lifted Up\n"); NSDate *momentLifted = [[NSDate alloc] init]; double timeInterval = [momentLifted timeIntervalSinceDate:momentTouchedDown]; NSLog(@"time lifted = %@, time down = %@, time diff = %@", momentLifted, momentTouchedDown, [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%g",timeInterval]); [momentLifted release]; if(timeInterval > 2.0) { NSLog(@"AlertBox has been fired"); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Yes" message:@""//msg delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:@"OK" , nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } } Please provide me an insight..thanks for help in advance.

  • Triple Quotes? How do I delimit a databound Javascript string parameter in ASP.NET?

    - by David HAust
    How do I delimit a Javascript databound string parameter in an anchor OnClick event? I have an anchor tag in an ASP.NET Repeater control. The OnClick event of the anchor contains a call to a Javascript function. The Javascript funciton takes a string for it's input parameter. The string parameter is populated with a databound value from the Repeater. I need the 'double quotes' for the Container.DataItem. I need the 'single quotes' for the OnClick. And I still need one more delimiter (triple quotes?) for the input string parameter of the Javascript function call. Since I can't use 'single quotes' again, how do I ensure the Javascript function knows the input parameter is a string and not an integer? Without the extra quotes around the input string parameter, the Javascript function thinks I'm passing in an integer. Cheers in advance for any knowledge you can drop. The anchor: <a id="aShowHide" onclick='ToggleDisplay(<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "JobCode") %>);' >Show/Hide</a> and here is the Javascript: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">/* Shows/Hides the Jobs Div */ function ToggleDisplay(jobCode) { /* Each div has it's ID set dynamically ('d' plus the JobCode) */ var elem = document.getElementById('d' + jobCode); if (elem) { if (elem.style.display != 'block') { elem.style.display = 'block'; elem.style.visibility = 'visible'; } else { elem.style.display = 'none'; elem.style.visibility = 'hidden'; } } }</script>

  • LINQDataSource and private columns

    - by fyjham
    Hey, I was trying to use a ListView bound to a LinqDataSource to insert to a table where I had a few columns private to the table class (Specifically password columns - only access I want to give outside the class is methods that generate the salt and encrypt the password to store it in 1 go). I gave this a few shots, but I didn't come up with anything I really liked... was wondering if anyone has a better way to do this. The methods I've found: Use the LinqDataSource inserting event and make the appropriate calls on e.NewObject. I don't really like this because it's so far removed from the actual input and there's no simple way to hold the password in the meantime other than a class variable set during the ListView's inserting event (Which works, but seems a little dodgy). Open up these properties and just ask everyone to use the appropriate static methods for encoding the passwords they pass in. I don't really like this cause I'd prefer that class to enforce data integrity rather than relying on all calling code doing it properly... I'm currently going with option #1, but I don't really like passing values between events using class variables like that (It just seems unstructured... even though I can guarantee the events will happen in the right order). Does anyone know a better way, or alternatively am I being too pedantic and one of the methods above is actually the right way to go? Thanks

  • Displaying music list using custom lists instead of array adapters

    - by Rahul Varma
    Hi, I have displayed the music list in a list view. The list is obtained from a website. I have done this using Arraylist. Now, i want to iterate the same program using custom lists and custom adapters instead of array list. The code i have written using array lists is... public class MusicListActivity extends Activity { MediaPlayer mp; File mediaFile; TextView tv; TextView albumtext; TextView artisttext; ArrayList<String> al=new ArrayList<String>(); //ArrayList<String> al=new ArrayList<String>(); ArrayList<String> node=new ArrayList<String>(); ArrayList<String> filepath=new ArrayList<String>(); ArrayList<String> imgal=new ArrayList<String>(); ArrayList<String> album=new ArrayList<String>(); ArrayList<String> artist=new ArrayList<String>(); ListView lv; Object[] webImgListObject; String[] stringArray; XMLRPCClient client; String loginsess; HashMap<?, ?> siteConn = null; //ImageView im; Bitmap img; String s; int d; int j; StreamingMediaPlayer sm; int start=0; Intent i; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.openadiuofile); lv=(ListView)findViewById(R.id.list1); al=getIntent().getStringArrayListExtra("titles"); //node=getIntent().getStringArrayListExtra("nodeid"); filepath=getIntent().getStringArrayListExtra("apath"); imgal=getIntent().getStringArrayListExtra("imgpath"); album=getIntent().getStringArrayListExtra("album"); artist=getIntent().getStringArrayListExtra("artist"); // ArrayAdapter<String> aa=new ArrayAdapter<String>(this,R.layout.row,R.id.text2,al); • BackgroundWorker might be causing my application to hang

    - by alexD
    I have a Form that uses a BackgroundWorker to execute a series of tests. I use the ProgressChanged event to send messages to the main thread, which then does all of the updates on the UI. I've combed through my code to make sure I'm not doing anything to the UI in the background worker. There are no while loops in my code and the BackgroundWorker has a finite execution time (measured in seconds or minutes). However, for some reason when I lock my computer, often times the application will be hung when I log back in. The thing is, the BackgroundWorker isn't even running when this happens. The reason I believe it is related to the BackgroundWorker though is because the form only hangs when the BackgroundWorker has been executed since the application was loaded (it only runs when given a certain user input). I pass this thread a List of TreeNodes from a TreeView in my UI through the RunWorkerAsync method, but I only read those nodes in the worker thread..any modifications I make to them is done in the UI thread through the progressChanged event. I do use Thread.Sleep in my worker thread to execute tests at timed intervals (which involves sending messages over a TCP socket, which was not created in the worker thread). I am completely perplexed as to why my application might be hanging. I'm sure I'm doing something 'illegal' somewhere, I just don't know what.

  • How to update the user profile through tokenid when a particular user logs in using his username and password

    i have an application in which when the user enters his username and password in the login form , his username and password are submitted to the server database for validation and if he is a valid user a tokenid is generated for him through JSON response and he is allowed to log in.this is the JSON response that i get in the console when a valid user log in through the log in form : {"TokenID":"kaenn43otO","isError":false,"ErrorMessage":"","Result":[{"UserId":"164","FirstName":"Indu","LastName":"nair","Email":"[email protected]","ProfileImage":null,"ThumbnailImage":null,"DeviceInfoId":"22"}],"ErrorCode":900} 2011-06-24 11:56:57.639 Journey[5526:207] this is token id:kaenn43otO so when the same user wants to update his profile by clicking on the update tab using the tokenid So that if he want he can his firstname,lastname,password,email.etc.i i have done the following code to update the user profile using tokenid but it does not work.i get tokenid when the user log in and this tokenid i have to pass to other class: this is my code to update user profile: -(void)sendRequest { //this is the class in which i get the tokenid and i am passing it to this class apicontroller *apitest = [[apicontroller alloc]init]; NSString *tokentest = apitest.tokenapi; NSString *post = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Token=%@&firstname=%@&lastname=%@&Username=%@&Password=%@&Email=%@",tokentest,txtfirstName.text,txtlast.text,txtUserName.text,txtPassword.text,txtEmail.text]; NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [postData length]]; NSLog(@"%@",postLength); NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://192.168.0.1:96/JourneyMapperAPI?RequestType=Register&Command=SET"]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [request setValue:@"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [request setHTTPBody:postData]; NSURLConnection *theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; if (theConnection) { webData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; NSLog(@"%@",webData); [theConnection start]; } else { } } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { [webData setLength: 0]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [webData appendData:data]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { [connection release]; [webData release]; } -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSString *loginStatus = [[NSString alloc] initWithBytes: [webData mutableBytes] length:[webData length] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(@"%@",loginStatus); [loginStatus release]; [connection release]; [webData release]; } -(IBAction)click:(id)sender { [self sendRequest]; } this is my apicontroller.m file in which i am creating login form so that user login and in this page tokenid is generated -(void)sendRequest { UIDevice *device = [UIDevice currentDevice]; NSString *udid = [device uniqueIdentifier]; //NSString *sysname = [device systemName]; NSString *sysver = [device systemVersion]; NSString *model = [device model]; NSLog(@"idis:%@",[device uniqueIdentifier]); NSLog(@"system nameis :%@",[device systemName]); NSLog(@"System version is:%@",[device systemVersion]); NSLog(@"System model is:%@",[device model]); NSLog(@"device orientation is:%d",[device orientation]); NSString *post = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Loginkey=%@&Password=%@&DeviceCode=%@&Firmware=%@&IMEI=%@",txtUserName.text,txtPassword.text,model,sysver,udid]; NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [postData length]]; NSLog(@"%@",postLength); NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://192.168.0.1:96/JourneyMapperAPI?RequestType=Login"]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [request setValue:@"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [request setHTTPBody:postData]; NSURLConnection *theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; if (theConnection) { webData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; NSLog(@"%@",webData); } else { } } //to select username and password from database. -(void)check { //app.journeyList = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; [self createEditableCopyOfDatabaseIfNeeded]; NSString *filePath = [self getWritableDBPath]; sqlite3 *database; if(sqlite3_open([filePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { const char *sqlStatement = "SELECT Username,Password FROM UserInformation where Username=? • Creating spotlight in OpenGL scene

    - by Victor Oliveira
    Im studying OpenGL and trying to create a spot light at my application. The code that Im using for my #vertex-shader is below: #:vertex-shader #{ #version 150 core in vec3 in_pos; in vec2 in_tc; out vec2 tc; glLightf(GL_LIGHT0, GL_SPOT_CUTOFF, 20.0f); GLfloat spot_direction[] = { -1.0, -1.0, 0.0 }; glLightfv(GL_LIGHT0, GL_SPOT_DIRECTION, spot_direction); glEnable(GL_LIGHT0); void main() { vec4 pos= vec4(vec3(1.0)*in_pos - vec3(1.0), 1.0); pos.z=0.0; gl_Position = pos; tc = in_tc; } } The thing is, everytime Im trying to run the code an Error that says: Type: other, Source: api, ID: 131169, Severity: low Message: Framebuffer detailed info: The driver allocated storage for renderbuffer 1. len = 157, written = 0 failed to compile vertex shader of deferred: directional info log for shader deferred: directional vertex info log for shader deferred: directional: ERROR: Unbound variable: when Specifications: Renderer: GeForce GTX 580/PCIe/SSE2 Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 319.17 GLSL: 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compiler Status: Using GLEW 1.9.0 1024 x 768 OS: Linux debian I guess to create this spotlight is pretty much simple, but since Im really new to OpenGL I dont have a clue how to do it until now, even reading sources like: http://www.glprogramming.com/red/chapter05.html#name3 Read also in some place that light spots can get really hard to understand, but I cant avoid this step right now since Im following my lecture schedule. Could anybody help me?

  • Flex AS3: ComboBox set visible to false doesn't hide

    - by jolierouge
    I have a combobox in a view that receives information about application state changes, and then is supposed to show or hide it's children based on the whole application state. It receives state change messages, it traces the correct values, it does what it's supposed to do, however, it just doesn't seem to work. Essentially, all it needs to do is hide a combobox during one state, and show it again during another state. Here is the code: public function updateState(event:* = null):void { trace("Project Panel Updating State"); switch(ApplicationData.getSelf().currentState) { case 'login': this.visible = false; break; case 'grid': this.visible = true; listProjects.includeInLayout = false; listProjects.visible = false; trace("ListProjects: " + listProjects.visible); listLang.visible = true; break; default: break; } } Here is the MXML: <mx:HBox> <mx:Button id="btnLoad" x="422" y="84" label="Load" enabled="true" click="loadProject();"/> <mx:ComboBox id="listProjects" x="652" y="85" editable="true" change="listChange()" color="#050CA8" fontFamily="Arial" /> <mx:Label x="480" y="86" text="Language:" id="label3" fontFamily="Arial" /> <mx:ComboBox id="listLang" x="537" y="84" editable="true" dataProvider="{langList}" color="#050CA8" fontFamily="Arial" width="107" change="listLangChange(event)"/> <mx:CheckBox x="830" y="84" label="Languages in English" id="langCheckbox" click='toggleLang()'/> </mx:HBox>

  • How do I Extend Blogengine.Net to collect statistics of visitors?

    - by Stefan
    I love BlogEngine. But from what I can se it does not collect the standard information about the visitors I would like to see (referrer, browser-type and so on). When I log in as Admin I have a menu item named "Referrer". I can choose a weekday and then I'll be presented with 1 or 2 rows with "google.com 4 hits, "itmaskinen.se 6 hits" and so on, But that's not what I want to se, I want to se where my visitors come from, country, IP if possible, how many visitors and so on. If someone of you are familiar with Blogengine.Net and can point me in the right direction to where I would put my own log-code or if you know any visitor-statistic-extension that can do it for me, I would be really happy to know. I prefer an extension, because if I make changes myself to BlogEngine it may break later updates I install. Blogengine.Net is a blog software made in .Net found here: http://www.dotnetblogengine.net/ And yes, I prefer to take this question here rather then in the Blogengine.Net forum, you know why. ;) (Anyone, feel free to edit my (bad) english in this post and after that delete this sentence)

  • Is there an MVVM-friendly way to swap views without value converters firing unnecessarily?

    - by DanM
    I thought what I was doing was right out of the Josh Smith MVVM handbook, but I seem to be having a lot of problems with value converters firing when no data in the view-model has changed. So, I have a ContentControl defined in XAML like this: <ContentControl Grid.Row="0" Content="{Binding CurrentViewModel}" /> The Window containing this ContentControl references a resource dictionary that looks something like this: <ResourceDictionary ...> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:SetupPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:SetupPanel /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:InstructionsPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:InstructionsPanel /> </DataTemplate> </ResourceDictionary> So, basically, the two data templates specify which view to show with which view-model. This switches the views as expected whenever the CurrentViewModel property on my window's view-model changes, but it also seems to cause value converters on the views to fire even when no data has changed. It's a particular problem with IMultiValueConverter classes, because the values in the value array get set to DependencyProperty.UnsetValue, which causes exceptions unless I specifically check for that. But I'm getting other weird side effects too. This has me wondering if I shouldn't just do everything manually, like this: Instantiate each view. Set the DataContext of each view to the appropriate view-model. Give the ContentControl a name and make it public. Handle the PropertyChanged event for the window. In the event handler, manually set the Content property of the ContentControl to the appropriate view, based the CurrentViewModel (using if statements). This seems to work, but it also seems very inelegant. I'm hoping there's a better way. Could you please advise me the best way to handle view switching so that value converters don't fire unnecessarily?

  • Monitoring all events in a class and sub-classes

    - by Basiclife
    Hi, I wonder if someone can help me. I've got a console App which I use to debug various components as I develop them. I'd like to be able to log to the console every time an event is fired either in the object I've instantiated or in anything it's instantiated [ad infinitum]. I wouldn't see some of these events normally due to them being consumed further down the chain). Ideally I would be able to log all public and private events but if only public are possible, I can live with that. I've Googled and all I can find is how to monitor a directory - So I'm not sure if this is not possible or simply has a name that I don't know. The sort of information I'm after is similar to what's found in an exception - Target Site, Source, Stack Trace, etc... Could I perhaps do this through reflection somehow? If someone could tell me if this is even possible and perhaps point me at some good resources, I'd be very grateful. Many thanks Basic To Give you an idea of the console App: Sub Main() Container = ContainerGenerate.GenerateContainer() Dim TemplateID As New Guid("5959b961-b347-46bc-b1b6-cba311304f43") Dim Templater = Container.Resolve(Of Interfaces.Mail.IMailGenerator)() Dim MyMessage = Templater.GenerateMail(TemplateID, Nothing, Nothing) Dim MySMTPClient = Container.Resolve(Of SmtpClient)() MySMTPClient.Send(MyMessage) Finish() End Sub

  • Outgoing UDP sniffer in python?

    - by twneale
    I want to figure out whether my computer is somehow causing a UDP flood that is originating from my network. So that's my underlying problem, and what follows is simply my non-network-person attempt to hypothesize a solution using python. I'm extrapolating from recipe 13.1 ("Passing Messages with Socket Datagrams") from the python cookbook (also here). Would it possible/sensible/not insane to try somehow writing an outgoing UDP proxy in python, so that outgoing packets could be logged before being sent on their merry way? If so, how would one go about it? Based on my quick research, perhaps I could start a server process listening on suspect UDP ports and log anything that gets sent, then forward it on, such as: import socket s =socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_DGRAM) s.bind(("", MYPORT)) while True: packet = dict(zip('data', 'addr'), s.recvfrom(1,024)) log.info("Recieved {data} from {addr}.".format(**packet)) But what about doing this for a large number of ports simultaneously? Impractical? Are there drawbacks or other reasons not to bother with this? Is there a better way to solve this problem (please be gentle).

  • Intent Bundle returns Null every time?

    - by Max
    I have some extras sent to a new intent. There it grabs the bundle and tests if it is null. Every single time it is null even though I am able to get the values passed and use them. Can anyone see what is wrong with the if statement? Intent i = getIntent(); Bundle b = i.getExtras(); int picked = b.getInt("PICK"); int correct = b.getInt("CORR"); type = b.getString("RAND"); if(b == null || !b.containsKey("WELL")) { Log.v("BUNDLE", "bun is null"); } else { Log.v("BUNDLE", "Got bun well"); } EDIT: Heres where the bundle is created. Intent intent = new Intent(this, app.pack.son.class); Bundle b = new Bundle(); b.putInt("PICK", pick); b.putInt("CORR", corr); b.putString("RAND", "yes"); intent.putExtras(b); startActivity(intent);

  • Can't block capslock with CGEventTap

    - by Thor Frølich
    I'm using Quartz CGEventTap in an attempt to globally intercept capslock presses and block them (to have them do something useful instead). I succesfully detect capslock presses but have so far been unable to block them. My code (originating from this stackoverflow answer) is something like this: eventTap = CGEventTapCreate(kCGHIDEventTap, kCGTailAppendEventTap, kCGEventTapOptionDefault, eventMask, myCGEventCallback, &oldFlags); runLoopSource = CFMachPortCreateRunLoopSource(kCFAllocatorDefault, eventTap, 0); CFRunLoopAddSource(CFRunLoopGetCurrent(), runLoopSource, kCFRunLoopCommonModes); CGEventTapEnable(eventTap, true); CGEventRef myCGEventCallback(CGEventTapProxy proxy, CGEventType type, CGEventRef theEvent, void *refcon) { CGEventFlags *oldFlags = (CGEventFlags *)refcon; switch (type) { case kCGEventFlagsChanged: { CGEventFlags newFlags = CGEventGetFlags(theEvent); CGEventFlags changedFlags = *oldFlags ^ newFlags; *oldFlags = newFlags; if (changedFlags == 65536) { NSLog(@"Capslock pressed. Let's not return the event"); return NULL; } break; } default: break; } NSLog(@"Different modifier than capslock. Returning the event"); return theEvent; } If I understand correctly returning NULL should effectively block the keypress from propagating. Indeed it also does for "normal" keyup and -down events. However capslock toggles regardless. Any ideas why that is? Am I making incorrect assumptions? And/or how can I do things differently to achieve my goal? Thanks, Thor

  • When is onBind or onCreate called in an android service browser plugin?

    - by anselm
    I have adapted the example plugin of the android source and the browser recognises the plugin without any problem. Here is an extract of AndroidManifest.xml: <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:debuggable="true"> <service android:name="com.domain.plugin.PluginService"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.webkit.PLUGIN" /> </intent-filter> </service> </application> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="7" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.webkit.permission.PLUGIN"></uses-permission> The actual Service class looks like so: public class PluginService extends Service { @Override public IBinder onBind(Intent arg0) { Log.d("PluginService", "onBind"); return null; } @Override public void onCreate() { Log.d("PluginService", "onCreate"); // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(); AssetInstaller.getInstance(this).installAssets("/data/data/com.domain.plugin"); } } The AssetInstaller code is supposed to extract some files required by the actual plugin into the /data/data/com.domain.plugin directory, however wether onBind nor onCreate are called. But I get lot's of debug trace of the actual libnpplugin.so file I'm using. So the puzzle is when and under what circumstance is the Service bound or created in case of a browser plugin. As things look the service seems to be a dummy service. Having said that, is there another intent that can be executed at installation time probably? The only solution I see right now is installing the needed files from the native plugin code instead. Any ideas? I know this is quite a tricky question ;)
