Dreamhost DNS CNAMEs work at my house, not for anyone else

I have my domain BQQKSHELF.COM that I bought through Dreamhost. I set up a CNAME so that zach.bqqkshelf.com points to my app at zach.heroku.com. The app at Heroku is working fine. Everyone can agree on that. When I go to zach.bqqkshelf.com, everything seems to work okay too. When I ask my roommate to go to it, it works. When I go to it on my iTouch, it works. When I IM my friends and ask them to go to zach.bqqkshelf.com, they get a time out error. How is this possible?

Resolve sibling folder in JavaScript Function

Hi, I am trying to pass into an JavaScript function two paths for an XML and XSLT. It would appear that in the sample HTML below that the use of "../xsl/filename" does not work for me in the xslt() function. If I specify the path as being "./filename" though this does work. Does anyone know how I can work around this or find some way that I can specify a sibling folder without an absolute path reference? I would prefer not to have to change my file paths as my development environment is set up with the xslt's, sample data and source code structured in a particular way. Users database empty after Samba3 to Samba4 migration on different servers

I have to migrate a Samba 3 to a new Samba 4 server. My problem is that the database on the samba 3 server seems a bit empty. The secrets.dtb file is only 20K whereas the “pbedit -L |wc -l”command give me 16970 lines. On my Samba3 /var/lib/samba is 1,5M After I had migrate the databse (following instructions on http://dev.tranquil.it/index.php/SAMBA_-_Migration_Samba3_Samba4), “pdbedit -L” command on the new server give me only : SAMBA4$, Administrator, dns-samba4, krbtgt and nobody. So I tried to create a VM with a Samba3. I added some users, done the same things I did for the migration and now I can see the users created on the VM. It’s like users on the Samba 3 server are in a sort of cache. I already migrate the /etc/{passwd,shadow,group} files and I can see users with the “getent passwd” command. Any ideas why my users are present when I use pdbedit but the database is so empty ? Hi, I did ask a question before. The answer made sense, but I could never get it to work. And now I gotta get it working. But I cannot figure out BASH's if statements. How to troubleshoot a PHP script that causes a Segmenation Fault?

I posted this on stackoverflow.com as well because I'm not sure if this is a programming problem or a server problem. I'm using ubuntu 9.10, apache2, mysql5 and php5. I've noticed an unusual problem with some of my php programs. Sometimes when visiting a page like profile.edit.php, the browser throws a dialogue box asking to download profile.edit.php page. When I download it, there's nothing in the file. profile.edit.php is supposed to be a web form that edits user information. I've noticed this on some of my other php pages as well. I look in my apache error logs, and I see a segmentation fault message: [Mon Mar 08 15:40:10 2010] [notice] child pid 480 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) And also, the issue may or may not appear depending on which server I deploy my application too. Additonal Details This doesn't happen all the time though. It only happens sometimes. For example, profile.edit.php will load properly. But as soon as I hit the save button (form action="profile.edit.php?save=true"), then the page asks me to download profile.edit.php. Could it be that sometimes my php scripts consume too much resources? Sample code Upon save action, my profile.edit.php includes a data_access_object.php file. I've been successful in creating a simple trigger with a PHP script. The problem comes when I have to use "DELIMITER" in my trigger creating because I have nested if/then statements. For example, the following DOES work: $sql = 'CREATE TRIGGER `database`.`detail` BEFORE INSERT on `database`.`vibez_detail` FOR EACH ROW set @a=new.realtime_value'; $junk = mysqli_query($link, $sql); However, if I need to use "DELIMITER" I get errors galore. Here's what works if I go to the MySQL client at the server: DELIMITER $$; DROP TRIGGER `database`.`detail`$$ CREATE TRIGGER `database`.`detail` BEFORE INSERT on `database`.`vibez_detail` FOR EACH ROW BEGIN set new.data_rate = 69; insert into alarm_trips_parent values (null, new.data_rate, 6969, now()); set @tripped_time = now(); set @tripped:=true; end if; end if; END$$ DELIMITER ;$$ How can I construct the PHP code to get this to work? Seems the mysqli_query($link, $sql) chokes as soon as I put "DELIMITER" in the $sql variable. Connection closed." I'd isolated that line in the script which connected to the remote machine, and ran it on the local machine (where this class file and script file are stored), and the command executed successfully I'd manually run the command which the Java class file will execute and it also tested okay: $ script.sh param1 param2 param3 I'd tried to look up the error message on the Internet, and apparently it seems to have something to do with known_hosts. Could this be the reason, or is there something else I'm missing? Thanks so much!

USB to IDE/SATA adapter

I have an old IDE HDD that I am trying to pull files off of. I am using a USD to IDE/SATA adapter. I plug in the power and adapter plugs into the drive and it fires up. I plug the USB plug into my XP laptop and it installs the drivers. I can see USB Mass Storage Device under Device Manager. My problem is I can't see the drive in either Windows Explorer or under Disk Management under Computer Management. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Do I have to slave the old hdd? Do I have to make BIOS changes?

i am searching for this string: <li class="g w0"><h3 class=r> within the html source of this link: "http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Santarus Inc?" this is how i am searching for it: d=html.IndexOf(@"<li class=""g w0""><h3 class=r><a href=""",1); for some reason it is finding an occurence of it that is incorrect. dd clone hard drive: Input/Output Error though "chkdsk" says OK

Hi, I've used dd to clone hard drives before using 'dd' and a live cd, but have run into a problem. The issue: dd fails with an "Input/Output Error" on /dev/sda3 , even though windows "check disk" (chkdsk) says it's ok. Context: Trying to replace my laptop hard drive w/ a faster one of the same size Laptop has NTFS on a 320gb hard drive Booting into knoppix Knoppix recognizes 'original' drive (/dev/sda) I am using a usb connection for ‘new' drive (irrelevant, but just an fyi) Knoppix recognizes the usb drive as /dev/sdb Using dd, as follows: dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb "dd" gives the I/O error above at 82Gb (out of 320Gb) I then tried checking each partition as follows and found it failed on /dev/sda3: dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/dev/null dd if=/dev/sda2 of=/dev/null dd if=/dev/sda3 of=/dev/null I have ran windows xp chkdsk on the offending drive in both "find only" and "find and fix" mode and it reports no errors Question How can I find and fix the error on my original hard drive partition (i.e. /dev/sda3) so that dd reads it successfully?

Hello, I recently installed rails in fedora 12. I'm new to linux as well. Everything works fine on Windows 7. But I'm facing lot of problems in linux. Help please! I've installed all the essentials to my knowledge to get the basic script/server up and running. I have this error from boot.rb popping up when I try script/server. Some of the details I'd like to give here: The directories where rails, ruby and gem are installed, [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ which ruby /usr/local/bin/ruby [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ which rails /usr/bin/rails [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ which gem /usr/bin/gem And when I run the script/server, this is the error. [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ script/server ./script/../config/boot.rb:9:in `require': no such file to load -- rubygems (LoadError) from ./script/../config/boot.rb:9 from script/server:2:in `require' from script/server:2 And the PATH file looks like this [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ cat ~/.bash_profile # .bash_profile # Get the aliases and functions if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then . ~/.bashrc fi # User specific environment and startup programs PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin export PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin/ruby:$PATH" I suppose it is something to do with the PATH file. Let me know what I need to change here. If there are other changes I should make, please let me know, Thanks
