• iOS Switching an embedded view in storyboard

  I have been trying to figure this out all day and I know it should be able to be done, but being new to iOS development using Objective-C and not Appcelerator I'm having newbie issues. What I am trying to accomplish is to have an embedded view in one of my other views, but to be able to switch which view is embedded through programming. I am using storyboards. When I tried to use the view container it displays the attached view, but I cannot attach multiple views to the container in the storyboard. I drew up an image, but to my annoyance I cannot post an image on here because I don't have enough "rep" points, so I posted it on my site: http://static.c6gx.com/images/iphone-embedded-views-diagram.jpg Later on I would like what appears to be a push segue, within that view container, but first I just want to be able to switch between embedded view 1, 2, 3, etc. Am I supposed to be using a view container to accomplish this, or some other type of controller? Then how would I call the transition to change the view? Thank you for any help you can provide.

• Query String to Object with strongly typed properties

  Let’s say we track 20 query string parameters in our site. Each request which comes will have only a subset of those 20 parameters. But we definitely look for all/most of the parameters which comes in each request. We do not want to loop through the collection each time we are looking for a particular parameter initially or somewhere down the pipeline in the code. So we loop once through the query string collection, convert string values to their respective types (enums, int, string etc.), populate to QueryString object which is added to the context. • How to store and remove dynamically and automatic variable of generic data type in custum list data

  Hi I have created a List data structure implementation for generic data type with each node declared as following. struct Node { void *data; .... .... } So each node in my list will have pointer to the actual data(generic could be anything) item that should be stored in the list. I have following signature for adding a node to the list AddNode(struct List *list, void* eledata); the problem is when i want to remove a node i want to free even the data block pointed by *data pointer inside the node structure that is going to be freed. at first freeing of datablock seems to be straight forward free(data) // forget about the syntax..... But if data is pointing to a block created by malloc then the above call is fine....and we can free that block using free function int *x = (int*) malloc(sizeof(int)); *x = 10; AddNode(list,(void*)x); // x can be freed as it was created using malloc what if a node is created as following int x = 10; AddNode(list,(void*)&x); // x cannot be freed as it was not created using malloc Here we cannot call free on variable x!!!! How do i know or implement the functionality for both dynamically allocated variables and static ones....that are passed to my list.... Thanks in advance...

• C#, Can I check on a lock without trying to acquire it?

  Hello, I have a lock in my c# web app that prevents users from running the update script once it has started. I was thinking I would put a notification in my master page to let the user know that the data isn't all there yet. • My UITableView has duplicated rows

  Im not sure why, but my UITableView, which isnt anything fancy, is showing repeating rows when it shouldnt be. It seems that the rows that get added when the user scrolls (i.e. the rows that are off the screen to start with) are getting the data for the wrong row index. Its almost like when a new cell is de-queued, it's using a cell that 'was' used, but wasn't cleaned up correctly. • Does running IIS7 in classic mode affect MVC output caching?

  I have a need to run an application in classic mode for backwards compatibility with a specific application, and am trying to understand what kind of impact that will have on the performance of an MVC application that is running on the site. If we put a few static file maps (for .js, .css, .png, etc) above the ASP.NET wildcard map to reduce the amount of processing by the ASP.NET handler, will we be approaching the integrated mode in terms of performance? The thing i'm primarily concerned with is any effect this might have on output caching. I understand that integrated mode might (?) allow for the output cache to handle non ASP.NET content, but that isn't really a concern. We're more interested in ensuring that the MVC application has full use of the output cache. Empirically i've found that the two configurations operate on par when things go well, but if the page references resources that are not available, the integrated mode tends to fail much more quickly than the classic mode (e.g. 500 ms vs 10 seconds), reducing 'hang time' on the page load.   I need to simulate a test scenario in which I call the getBytes() method of a String object and I get an UnsupportedEncodingException.   I'm new to large scale BB app deployment and I'm looking for some clarification on the various methods of deployment. Please bear with me as I'm sure there is more to it than my naive view would lead me to believe. My app is very targeted to corporate users and requires a subscription to some additional services before it can be used. In other words, it's not targeted towards the consumer market, so I'm not worried about people not being able to easily find it online. What do I need to be aware of when looking at deployment strategies? Any gotchas? From my understanding my choices are: - App World small upfront vendor fee users can easily search for and find my app billing handled by RIM 4 licensing models (static, single, pool, dynamic). Though I'm not sure I've seen enough info on the pool and dynamic to fully appreciate how it might help me. - Download from my website billing is handled by me can I enforce the number of licenses that are in use within an organization? is this easier/harder for a user? - What else am I missing?

  My project requires Java 1.6 for compilation and running. Now I have a requirement to make it working with Java 1.5 (from the marketing side). I want to replace method body (return type and arguments remain the same) to make it compiling with Java 1.5 without errors. Details: I have an utility class called OS which encapsulates all OS-specific things. It has a method public static void openFile(java.io.File file) throws java.io.IOException { // open the file using java.awt.Desktop ... } to open files like with double-click (start Windows command or open Mac OS X command equivalent). Since it cannot be compiled with Java 1.5, I want to exclude it during compilation and replace by another method which calls run32dll for Windows or open for Mac OS X using Runtime.exec. Question: How can I do that? Can annotations help here? Note: I use ant, and I can make two java files OS4J5.java and OS4J6.java which will contain the OS class with the desired code for Java 1.5 and 1.6 and copy one of them to OS.java before compiling (or an ugly way - replace the content of OS.java conditionally depending on java version) but I don't want to do that, if there is another way. Elaborating more: in C I could use ifdef, ifndef, in Python there is no compilation and I could check a feature using hasattr or something else, in Common Lisp I could use #+feature. Is there something similar for Java? Found this post but it doesn't seem to be helpful. Any help is greatly appreciated. kh.

It appears (through looking at the samples that came with the WS WSDL) that if the stub is generated in .NET, this header information is exposed through a member variable in the stub class. However, when I generate my Axis2 java stub using WSDL2Java it doesn't appear to be exposed anywhere. What is the correct way to extract this information from the SOAP envelope header?   How can I create a fubumvc behaviour that wraps actions with a particular return type, and if an exception occurs while executing the action, then the behaviour logs the exception and populates some fields on the return object? Also, any exceptions thrown by the action don't make it as far as this, the request is terminated before execution gets to the catch block. What am I doing wrong? Is this legal and i'm just making some syntax error that i can't see (thus causing the error message) or can what i'm trying to do just not be done?

• How to keep Java Frame from waiting?

  I am writing a genetic algorithm that approximates an image with a polygon. While going through the different generations, I'd like to output the progress to a JFrame. However, it seems like the JFrame waits until the GA's while loop finishes to display something. I don't believe it's a problem like repainting, since it eventually does display everything once the while loop exits. I want to GUI to update dynamically even when the while loop is running.
