  • need some tips about distributed c# desktop application

    Hi , my doubt is the following, I have a network with 5 pcs, each machine has XP installed, I don't know much about distributed desktop applications, so what i want is to create a C# application using sql server 2005 database and visual studio 2008. I want that each pc can have access to create/update/delete data on the one XP machine that will store the database files. Do i need WServer2003 or any special network technology?? thanks in advance

Here's the script, that catches the changes, but doesn't execute the code within the do/done I init it like sh watch.sh and here's the script #!/bin/sh while inotifywait -m -o ./log.txt -e modify ./*.styl; do stylus -c %f done I tried having echo "hi" within the exec portion but nothing executes

    I am studying COM so there're some basic questions puzzling me... I know that IDL file is used to describe the method definitions (or the so called 'contract' between software modules), and the .H header files contains something like a method prototype, which looks similar to what the IDL is meant for.     I am looking to build a widget for a site which allows users to tag images from individual frames of a video file but would prefer not to have to build a custom Flash tool. Is there an existing free library or framework which simplifies things like this in a webapplication setting? Features would also involve basic video playback functionality as well as time-driven meta-data and the ability to extract images from individual video frames. Are there existing open-source web-based tools for video manipulation other than building your own custom Flash app?

    GUID are generated by the combination of numbers and characters with a hyphen. eg) {7B156C47-05BC-4eb9-900E-89966AD1430D} In Visual studio, we have the 'Create GUID' tool to create it. I hope the same can be created programmatically through window APIs. How GUIDs are made to be unique? Why they don't use any special characters like #,^ etc... Also Is it possible to design our own algorithm to create unique GUIDs?

  • How to parse a date from an SSIS Excel filename

    I want to use the foreach container to iterate through a folder matching something like: "Filename_MMYYYY.xls". That's easy enough to do; but I can't seem to find a way to parse the MMYYYY from the filename and add it to a variable (or something) that i can use as a lookup field for my DimDate table. It seems possible with a flat file data source, but not an excel connection. I'm using Visual Studio 2005. Please help!
