  • Can an algorithmic process ever give true random numbers ?

    I have worked with random functions in python,ruby, MATLAB, Bash and Java. Nearly every programming language has a function to generate Random numbers. However, these apparently random sequences are termed as pseudo-random number sequences as the generation follows a deterministic approach, and the sequence seems to repeat (usually with a very large period). My question, can an algorithmic/programming process ever yield true random numbers ? The questions probably is more of theoretical computer science than just programming !

    Hi, I'm a college student majoring in computer science. I know java and will be learning C++ the next couple years at school. I want to add another language to my repertoire and have gotten conflicting advice: Ruby, Python, Perl, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, among others. I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the relative value of each of these languages in the job market, the ease of learning of each of the languages, and just personal preferences when it comes to the languages mentioned above.     I have a directory called "notes" within the notes I have categories which are named "science", "maths" ... within those folder are sub-categories, such as "Quantum Mechanics", "Linear Algebra". ./notes --> ./notes/maths ------> ./notes/maths/linear_algebra --> ./notes/physics/ ------> ./notes/physics/quantum_mechanics My problem is that I don't know how to put the categories and subcategories into TWO SEPARATE list/array.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which schools / programs I can do? A masters is probably out of the question, due to the time required (and my not so good verbal score on my GRE).   • Help with google maps api, user allowed marker map

    Without telling everyone too much about my new idea for a website, Pretty much I need help, maybe someone can help write it up, with a site that has a simple map that allows any user to double click the map and make a marker. Now the problem is that I need to add sub-menus under Science and Pipeline heading. Since I didn't use UL or LI, how can I add sub-menus under those heading. OR, can you tell me any other way to create a NAV bar that shows the logo as well. so it would be LOGO and MENUS on the same line. Great thanks in advance.
