• How do I deploy a charm from a local repository?

  I am trying to run the Charm tutorial from the juju documentation by creating a new charm from a local repository. I started by installing the charms from bzr to my local ubuntu 12.04 desktop running in a virtual machine. The new file structure is the following: ubuntu@ubuntu-VirtualBox:~$ find charms/precise/drupal/ charms/precise/drupal/ charms/precise/drupal/hooks charms/precise/drupal/hooks/db-relation-changed charms/precise/drupal/hooks/install charms/precise/drupal/hooks/start charms/precise/drupal/hooks/stop charms/precise/drupal/metadata.yml charms/precise/drupal/README When I install the mysql charm, which was downloaded from the remote charm repository, it works fine. However when I run the following command to deploy the new charm it fails with the following error message: ubuntu@ubuntu-VirtualBox:~$ juju deploy --repository=charms local:precise/drupal 2012-05-09 10:01:05,671 INFO Searching for charm local:precise/drupal in local charm repository: /home/ubuntu/charms 2012-05-09 10:01:05,845 WARNING Charm '.mrconfig' has an error: CharmError() Error processing '/home/ubuntu/charms/precise/.mrconfig': unable to process /home/ubuntu/charms/precise/.mrconfig into a charm Charm 'local:precise/drupal' not found in repository /home/ubuntu/charms 2012-05-09 10:01:06,217 ERROR Charm 'local:precise/drupal' not found in repository /home/ubuntu/charms Is there some file missing in the drupal charm directory that juju needs to make the charm valid? Also, I get the file processing error for the .mrconfig file also when deploying the mysql charm so is there something I need to change there perhaps?

• Installed Perl DBI Module Can't Be Found

  I'm trying to setup a Perl development environment on my Mac laptop and have been having a really hard time getting it working. I thought I had everything configured correctly but when I try to run a sample script it is reporting errors with the DBI module and can't access the DB. Here is what is reported in the Apache error logs: [Fri Apr 30 23:11:33 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Can't locate DBI.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0 /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0 .) at main.pm line 5.   Greetings, I am trying to perform a copy from one vector (vec1) to another vector (vec2) using the following 2 abbreviated lines of code (full test app follows): vec2.reserve( vec1.size() ); copy(vec1.begin(), vec1.end(), vec2.begin()); While the call to vec2 sets the capacity of vector vec2, the copying of data to vec2 seems to not fill in the values from vec1 to vec2.   Hi, a linear linked list is a set of nodes. Now I want to invert the list so that the first node is the last and the last the first. The inverted list has to be a deep copy. I started developing the invert function but I am not sure. Any Ideas? Update: Maybe there is a recursive way since the linear linked list is a recursive data structure. I would take the first element, iterate through the list until I get to a node that has no child and append the first element, I would repeat this for the second, third....

• How do I use text in one cell to trigger row to be copied on another sheet in Excel?

  I provide all of the cut lists for our cabinet manufacturing in Excel. I tally all parts for the entire job on the first worksheet in an Excel file, and then filter the rows based on the "Material" column, and manually copy/paste each row in to its own material-specific worksheet (example: I filter "Materials" column for "Maple Ply", and then copy all "Maple Ply" rows to the "Maple Ply" worksheet). Then the material specific worksheets are sent to the shop floor for cutting. This is time consuming, and if I need to change any data in the first page, I have to go and manually update the copied row in its material-specific page. Is there any way to make each material page "look" for its material, and automatically populate itself with any row that has the appropriate material in the material column (example: any time I enter "Maple Ply" in the material column of sheet one, that row is automatically copied to the "Maple Ply" worksheet)? If so, could this link be dynamic, rather than just a copy, so that if I change a cell in a particular row on sheet one, that data is also updated on the material-specific worksheet copy? • Java: Copying an exe-file and launching afterwards fails

  Hi, I want to copy an existing .exe-file from one directory to another and launch it afterwards with Java. Like this: FileIO.copy( new File( sourceFile ), new File( targetFile ) ); System.out.println( "Existing: " + new File( targetFile ).exists() ); System.out.println( "Launching " + targetFile ); String cmd[] = { targetFile }; Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd ); p.waitFor(); System.out.println( "Result: " + p.exitValue() ); The output is like this: Existing: true Launching C:\test\Launcher.new.exe Result: 2 So Java says that the file is valid and existing, but Windows just can't launch the process because it thinks the file is not there. The pathes are absolute and with backslashes. I also have all permissions on the files so I'm allowed to execute them. The Launcher.new.exe is generated by Launch4j, so it's more or less standalone. At least it doesn't depend on DLLs in the same folder. But strange: It works when I copy and launch the notepad.exe. One more strange thing: If I don't copy the file by Java but by hand, the launching also fails with the same error. OS is Vista with SP1. Any clue?

• Local Flash in Chrome pepper player won't link to internet

  I have a local .swf file in a local .html file. The flash file opens a popup window when a link is clicked. In Chrome, when I open the html file and click the button, nothing happens. Then when I go to about:plugins and disable the top Flash player (the pepper one) then try refresh and try clicking the button again, nothing happens. Then when I go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and add the the folder the files are stored in to the list and refresh the page and click the button again, it opens the popup. When I re-enable the pepper flash player, and re-add the folder to the allowed list in flash (it's gone from the list now that I changed players), refresh the page and click the button again, it does nothing. I don't know why it won't open with the pepper player. I'm using Windows 7, Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m, Pepper Flash player 11.4.31.110, and regular Flash Player 11,4,402,287.

  How can I disable the local user account password complexity settings on Windows 2008 R2 "Server Core"? I am trying to migrate our windows 2003 web server to windows 2008 R2. I am trying to see if I can use the "Server Core" install, and it has been a very internet search intensive experience. What I can't find out how to do is to find out how to disable password complexity for local user accounts. While our user account generator currently creates nice strong passwords, there was a time when this was not the case and unfortunately forcing the users to change their password is not an option at this time.   I have a few servers that are acting in this behavior, you log in and always get put into a temporary profile. The server is licensed for TS. The user I am testing with has local admin rights so it doesn't seem to be a permission issue on the server. I'll first get a message that the users roaming profile cannot be found, even though we dont use roaming profiles. I then get another message immediately after saying a local profile could not be loaded, so it will only use a temp profile. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For example, if I edit a text file in the local folder and then save it, it should immediately detect it and push the changes to the remote folder. It can be unidirectional (changes made on the local folder has to be pushed to the remote folder but the reverse is not necessary). It should also be able to specify some excluded files/folders which do not need to be in sync. Is there such an application that you know of?

  The joys of a Samba domain... First off Domain Group policy can't be used until Samba 4 arrives. We need to setup Software Restriction Policies (SRPs) on most of the computers in our Samba domain and I would dearly like to automate this. (We are moving away from just disabling the Windows installer). The traditional way is to set SRPs using Local Group Policy (LGP) Computer Conf-Windows Settings-SRP but this involves visiting every machine as it can't be set using in NTConfig.pol. It is possible to attempt to create the SRPs directly in the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Safer\CodeIdentifiers\262144\Paths\{30628f61-eb47-4d87-823b-6683a09eda87}] "LastModified"=hex(b):40,a2,94,09,b5,5d,ca,01 "Description"="" "SaferFlags"=dword:00000000 "ItemData"="C:\\location\\subfolder" SaferFlags DWORD seems to be what turns it on or off, but although this seems to work it does not update the Local Group Policy - SRPs still show as "No SRPs Defined". Where does the LGP store this setting - is it even in the registry and more importantly - Is there a cleverer way of setting up SRPs?

• Sendmail Issue - Local Mail / Inner Domain Mail

  Environments: Ubuntu / Sendmail / Google Apps Emailing: I send and receive all of my emails through google apps besides emails that are sent directly from my website. My Web Domain: example.com (for the purpose of the question only) Problem: When my website sends an email, using sendmail, to any local address ([email protected]) I get an unknown user error. Emails sent to other domains seem to work just fine. Question: I believe this is because I don't have these users defined on my ubuntu server, this is besides the point I need to configure sendmail such that it doesn't pick out local emails sent to ([email protected]) and instead finds their name server which points to google apps and sends it there instead. This is my first try at serverfault, I normally use stackoverflow so let me know if I'm messing up! Thank you!

• Synchronize pasteboard between remote tmux session and local Mac OS pasteboard

  Setup: I use iTerm2 on MacOS to connect to a remote server. The remote server runs tmux, in which I open files and edit in vim sessions. Problem: I can't copy/paste between the remote tmux session and the local iTerm client. I can use iTerm 2's alt/option + mouse selection to select text, but this copies over multiple vim panes/tmux panes - bad. Is there any elegant solution to make selections in tmux panes synchronize between the remote pasteboard and the local (MacOS pasteboard)? I've seen reattach-to-user-namespace, but I'm pretty certain it doesn't do what I want.

• Unable to connect to local SQL Express (2008)

  I'm trying to get an installation of SQL Express 2008 working, but no matter what I do I can't connect to it with management studio. I've enabled TCP/IP for the instance. I've tried connecting with machinename\instance, .\instance, (local), etc etc etc. Nothing works, and I always get the same message. If I browse for a server, the only server listed is the local integration services, which I can connect to just fine. The SQL server service is running (SQLEXPRESS), SQL Server Agent is not (and won't, can't enable it), and SQL Server Browser is. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go next? I've tried uninstalling EVERYTHING sql and reinstalling, no change.

• Php.ini: Local Value vs Master Value (safe_mode, specifically)

  I can change php.ini values on my Apache and restart to see them in effect via a script showing php_info(). However, one setting is causing problems: safe_mode. I set it to "off" in php.ini but php_info() still shows it as Local value: On Master value: Off How can I find out which local value is overriding the master value? There's no htaccess directive of that kind in the httpdocs folder in question... (I already downloaded all files php_info() claims to be additional .ini files parsed, but safe_mode is not set in them.)

• local cache for NAS or network folder

  I am planning to build a network attached storage (NAS) server. Is there a way to cache frequently acccessed files from the remote storage automatically on the local PC? (I am not looking for a way to sync whole folders like rsync, but rather something that automatically and transparently caches the last accessed 50 gb of files.) Ideally I am searching for something that caches writes as well as reads, since only one pc will be accessing the server (and one day of lost changes if the local cache is damaged would be acceptable) I looked into windows offline files, but as far as I could tell this requires manual interaction to disconnect the server or go into offline mode in order to use the cache. The server would probably be running Linux or freeNAS, the pc runs Windows xp, but could be upgraded to 7 if required.

• Software distribution from web server to client using PHP/FTP

  I develop and maintain a number of add-ons and utilities for various widget (mainly aMember) which generally means I need to install php based codes onto other people's systems. Whilst I have a VPS and have access to rsync and all sorts of yummy tools most of the people I deal with have a basic ftp access and that's all folks. To upload from my local system is also a problem as I am satellite based (two-way) so it is fairly slow and expensive and in any case the files are already on my server. So there is no rsync, fxp, ssh and I can't really install anything as it is obviously not my system, they would be justifiably miffed if I started installing file managers or other things onto their sites. What I have been trying to find is a utility that I can run on my server from the web, preferably php based, that will be like a file manager but a bit different. Two panels. LH-Side the local server .. pretty much like a standard FM application RH-Side ability to login via FTP to the clients system Then I can fiddle as required. The closest thing I have found is net2ftp but it doesn't have the gui interface, at the moment I simply ssh into my server power up ncftp and run that way, but something easier to use would be mucho niceness. • linux need to discover local sata mirror before hba attached scsi

  (none of the machines mentioned are in production) Hello, I'm trying to install Centos 5.4, which wants to put the boot loader on either the boot sector of the boot drive (a local SATA mirror, recognized second as sdb) or the mba of a hba-attached SCSI array (recognized first as sda). There's a LILO install already on the mba of sdb, which keeps trying to boot first. If I zero out the MBA of sdb, would the boot loader at sdb1 be found and booted? I was thinking of that as a plan B, as I was mostly thinking of coaxing CentOS to find the local mirror first and bring that up as sda, but I haven't found info on how to do this anywhere.
