  • wpf - window to be tight round user control

    Hi, I've got a user control that I'm loading into a Window dynamically - I wanted to set the Window so that it didn't have a size and then I thought the window to resize accordingly depending on the UserControl. However it dosn't - can anyone assist please? I've made a very basic example - I've cut out the dynamic bits and just put a UserControl in a Window. What do I need to do to get the window to be tight around the UserControl?   • Help me re-center a ModalPopup within an iframe when the iframe's parent window scrolls

    I have a web page with an iframe in it (I don't like it, but that's the way it has to be). It's not a cross-domain iframe so there's nothing to worry about there. I have written a jQuery extension that does the centering of a ModalPopup (which is called from an overridden AjaxControlToolkit.ModalPopupBehavior._layout method) based on the width and height of the iframe's parent, so that it looks centered even though the iframe is not in the center of the page. It's a lot of tricky stuff, especially since the web page I added the iframe to runs in quirks mode. Now, I've also overridden AjaxControlToolkit.ModalPopupBehavior._attachPopup, so that when the parent window resizes or scrolls, the ModalPopup inside of the iframe recenter's itself relative to the new size of the parent window. However, the same code that attaches the popup to the parent window's resize event does NOT work for the parent window's scroll event.   • Opening URL in New Tab doesn't work in existing, programmatically-opened New Window (Firefox)

    I am building a web app, for myself, to control some servers on my home network, and discovered what I think is very odd behavior in Firefox. If you open a pop-up, via javascript, in Firefox, is it then impossible to open a new tab, via javascript in that pop-up? If not impossible, how do you do it? Given a clean, default Firefox 3.6.3 installation... If I open a page in Firefox and then call var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank','top=10'); A brand new "pop-up" window opens. However, if instead I call var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com'); A get a new tab. HOWEVER... If I call the first version var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank','top=10'); And then in the new "pop-up" that opens, I call var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com'); It opens a new tab in the original window, not a new tab in the pop-up. This seems very odd, and not intuitive at all. Why would the call in the pop-up open a tab in the "parent" window?

    Hi, When window A is show, I want to show another none-modal popup window B, but: I don't want window A to become inactive due to window B becomes the front window; I want that when window B is focused, I pull down a combo box control on window A with one click (generally you have to click twice, one for moving the focus to window A and the second for pulling down the combo box); As you can see, the window B that I want is something like a more usable popup window like a popup menu (which is less a obstacle than a general none-modal window when you want it to get away by clicking on any other part of the parent window).     I'm having a problem with an IIS application that occasionally spikes up in CPU usage, and am trying to use procdump to get a memory dump for examination. I'm running "procdump.exe -64 -mA 9999" where 9999 is the pid of the process. But every time I do it, I get an error: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed. Doing this also recycles the apppool, relieving the CPU spike, so I can't keep trying until I get it right. Does anyone know what is going wrong?

  • Intel Core i7 clockspeeds

    I've got an Intel i7 3770 CPU and am generally quite happy about it. However when I am just browsing around without programs running in background it seems to underclock itself quite a lot. This is not a real issue, however there seems to be a small hiccup (0.1s maybe) when it clocks itself higher again. Does anyone have a similar issue? Can I change the thresholds that are being used to change the clocks? I absolutely like that it underclocks the CPU whenever I am not around, but it shouldn't start to annoy me. It might also be related to Windows 8.1, but I am not sure about that, just saying that it's a possibility. I ran LatencyMon as suggested and got this (worrying?) result:

  • Book Review: Getting Started With Window 8 Apps By Ben Dewey

    When O’Reilly gave me an opportunity to review this book I was excited.  It gave me a reason to finally put some time into this new platform and what developers will need to learn in order to be successful. This book by Ben Dewey is only 92 pages long, so if you were looking for an in-depth treatment of Windows 8 development you will need supplemental materials.  It is also due for an update from the perspective of recent changes made by Microsoft prior to the final release of the OS and tools.  This causes a few issues if you try to run the code samples because of namespace changes. I was encouraged by the fact that the author didn’t do the typical “hello world” app.  He uses a lot of pattern based development techniques and hits many of the main topics including: Application lifecycle Charms integration Tiles Sensors The lifecycle is critical for anyone who hasn’t done mobile development before.  Limited resources on these devices mean that the OS can suspend or kill your app altogether if it decides it needs to.  He covers tombstoning which is the key to Windows 8 and Windows Phone lifecycle management. He also dedicates a chapter to marketing and distributing the application you build.  From my experience with Windows Phone development this is crucial information.  You need to know how to test your application so that it is going to pass certification and present your app so that it is going to get noticed amongst thousands of other apps. The main things that I wish had been in the book explanations of more of the common controls and more complete explanation of patterns that were implemented.   • Is there any way to stop a window's title bar merging with the panel when maximised?

    I'm working on a desktop machine with plenty of screen real-estate, so I don't need my windows' title bars to merge with the global menu bar when the windows are maximised. Moreover, I'm working on a dual-screen set-up, so the fact that a window is maximised doesn't mean that it's the only window visible. Before Unity I'd switch to a maximised window by clicking on its title bar, or close the window, even though it isn't focused, by clicking on its close button; I can no longer do this because the title bar is missing and the global menu bar is empty on that screen. This isn't a huge problem - I can click on some of the window's chrome to focus it - but it's unintuitive and it's forcing me to relearn my mousing behaviour. I'd like to turn-off the merging of title and global menu bars, but how? EDIT: I simply want the title bar of the window NOT to merge with the top panel whenever I maximize a Window. The global menu should stay in the top panel as far as I am concerned. Current it maximizes like this I want it to maximize like this (In that screeny the unmaximized Window has been resized to take rest of the space)

  • scale mode window on same workspace (ubuntu 12.04)

    I have recently upgraded from ubuntu 11.10 to ubuntu 12.04. Generally in unity if we open several interface of an application then we can switch them by double clicking the icon of the application on unity panel. It shows the opened application's multiple interface in scale mode. But ubuntu 12.04 does not show the windows of different workspace in scale mode. If i open three nautilus, two in same and one in different workspace then click on icon show two interface (which workspace contains two). That's means it only shows current workspace's application's interface. Is it a bug or feature of ubuntu 12.04? Is there any way to fix it?

  • Browser history, by window

    I use Chrome --but can switch to another browser if the feature I am about to describe is available. Browsing history, AFAIK in Chrome is sorted exclusively chronologically. Very often however, I will be working on a particular task on my laptop and have multiple (read: a lot) of tabs open in a single Chrome window for that task. Before finishing that task, I may need to work on something else --so I will open another window and minimize the other one, and start researching an entirely different issue. Over the course of a day, I may end up with 10-15 windows with many tabs each. This raises two issues: (a) memory usage and (b) quickly switching between the most relevant two or three windows. I solve these two problems like any regular guy probably would --closing windows. I want to be able to reopen specific windows that I have closed, such that the tabs that were open in that window at the time the window was closed will reopen. Ideally, closed windows will be sorted by the time they were closed and identified by the tabs that were open (even more ideally, I would be able to name these windows (contemporaneously or in the history menu)). Now that I describe this, what I am asking is: does any browser offer the ability to "save and close" windows? (This is distinct from an option to auto-restore tabs upon reopening the browser) Thank you.

  • Gray "apply" button in NetworkManager openvpn connection window

    I installed all the necessary packages for the networkmanager-openvpn function to function. The openvpn-connection-setting are successfully imported into the networkmanger via the conf file but the apply button is grayed out, so that actually saving and using the connection isn't possible? Does anyone know, where the problem is? It's a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 after the upgrade from 10.04 sent the networkmanger down the drain. I was told the following: Sounds like a policy issue. read this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1616355 look carefully in the file mentioned, at the element. What is there ? "No" will cause the action detailed to be unavailable. Ideally "yes" or "auth_admin_keep" should be there. They will either allow all access, or prompt for a admin password. The above does not seem to work for me - It still has a gray apply button. If I choose a file for User certificate as well as CA Certificate "which is all openvpn supplies and needs" and a key file it will allow me to click apply - but obviously wont connect. :l I am at a lost end.

Do they affect the performance of CPU or system? Do they result in increased deviation of performance numbers? (i.e. Do they prevent me from getting reliable performance numbers?) If so, how do I avoid these messages and increasing counters? Would running the performance tests on a well-cooled desktop system help?

    In Ubuntu 14.04 I have Keepass2 in my Launchbar. I do execute Keepass and I can see it is executing by a small arrow. With statement : ps - fu bernard | grep keepass2 Also with alt-tab I see Keepass. If I click on the Keepass icon still I am not switched to Keepass. The same happened to me with XAMPP from https://www.apachefriends.org so it seems a general Ubuntu 14.04 problem I execute this in Virtualbox client. If I switch sometimes to other VB client, when I come back the Windows is visible.

  • Launcher icon size and window behavior broken

    I have installed the nvidia driver for my graphic card, just following some tutorials what works fine now. After this I could set the Icon size of the launcher, windows had a nice litte shadow, resolution was better and the windows showed up a nice effect when popping up an or when bringing to full-screen... But today the this was just gone after reboot. What could this be? Nvidia xserver-settings are availible. I installed and reinstalled wine1.5 via the apt-get commands, so this might broke something. What can do to fix this again? Greetings philipp EDIT: I went on searching and all i found was that this problem might be connected to the mode of unit, so there is 2d and 3d, but could also be something else, just because setting the mode brings no change. EDIT 2: the version of Ubuntu is: 12.04 and it is a 64 bit environment the graphic card is: GeForce GT 330M Edit 3: Using maps.google in webGL mode does not work anymore too, it was working yesterday. EDIT 4: the screenshot. btw: I think that blender is not working anymore too... EDIT: 5 I think that the problem is closely connected to this output

  • Windows Vista: Folder options not working

    I'm running Windows Vista Service Pack 2. I have the Folder Options set to "Open each folder in the same window." (Organize | Folder Options | General). Each time I open a folder, it opens in a new window. How do I get it to open each folder in the same window? I have tried the following techniques with no success: 1. Expand number of MBAG entries in Registry. (The number is 40,000 now.) 2. Delete Bags and MBAG entries in Registry. (Rebooted machine after, still no success). 3. Change to "Open each folder in its own window". Saved, then changed back. 4. Under View tab, changed "Remember each folder's view settings": unchecked, Apply to Folders, checked, Apply to folders. 5. Applied application from Annoyances.org. Still no success. 6. Clicked on Reset Default Options, then OK. (Opening in same fold is a default option!) Still unsucessful. I want the folders to open in the same window, just like the options say.
