I then thought it might be unnecessary as the ESXi cluster already provides redundancy with 4 NICs (in my case) and should manage the network traffic pretty intelligently, right? Two private networks Zero private networks What are the advantages/disadvantages between the two shown configurations - on an ESXi 4.1 host?

    I have set up an any-domain config on my nginx server - to reduce the amount of work needed when I open a new site/domain.     I have two hosts A and B and a host(called client here) C C will establish a tcp connection with A, and send http requests to A then A will relay the HTTP requests to B (the relaying may be seconds of delay) and B will spoof its IP address as the IP of A and send http response to C I know there is sequnce number inconsistency problem, but is it possible to trick the TCP protocol to make the connection viable? thanks!

    I know that similar questions have been asked, but the available answers are not very clear, so please bear with me. After setting up a few <VirtualHost>s in apache, I'd like to configure the _defualt_ ServerName so that it returns the 404 message. I.e., unless some explicitly available domain is specified in the Host http header, return 404. (Ideally something more direct than pointing to a now-nonexistent directory.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can tomcat perform ssl redirection by filtering host alias?

    Hi, We have a tomcat server (6.0.20) running one web application behind two urls, e.g. www.foo and secure.foo This is configured in the server.xml as one host with a single alias: <Host name="www.foo" appBase="webapps"> <Context docBase="foo" path=""></Context> <Alias>secure.foo</Alias> </Host> Ideally we'd like any requests to secure.foo on port 80 to be automatically redirected to use ssl. However, I can only find instructions for redirecting based on the path after the hostname, so I could add a /* security constraint but then this would apply to both urls. Does anyone know if it's possible to apply the redirection by filtering on hostname requested? (We've already got the ssl connector, certificate, etc. working ok). I know we could do it by sticking an apache server in front of tomcat and handling the redirection there, but I'm curious to know if tomcat can do this on its own. Thanks

    I'm attempting to join an OS X Mavericks (10.9) client to a Windows Server 2008 Active Directory domain, however the bind fails with this error in the OS X client's system.log: Oct 24 15:03:15 host.domain.com com.apple.preferences.users.remoteservice[5547]: -[ODCAddServerSheetController handleOtherActionError: gotError: Error Domain=com.apple.OpenDirectory Code=5202 "Authentication server encountered an error while attempting the requested operation." UserInfo=0x7f9e6cb3e180 {NSLocalizedDescription=Authentication server encountered an error while attempting the requested operation., NSLocalizedFailureReason=Authentication server encountered an error while attempting the requested operation.}, Authentication server encountered an error while attempting the requested operation. I've joined (bound) Ubuntu Linux clients to the same domain with net ads join in the past with no problems (using the same administrative user). I don't have access to any server logs. Here's the GUI error (from Directory Utility) on the OS X client: Here's the GUI error (from User's and Groups) in System Preferences on the OS X client: Update After some Wiresharking I've got some more info: OS X Client - KDC (over UDP): AS_REQ (no padata) OS X Client <- KDC (over UDP): KRB5KDC_ERR_PREAUTH_REQUIRED OS X Client - KDC (over UDP): AS_REQ (this time with PA-ENC-TIMESTAMP in padata) OS X Client <- KDC (over UDP): KRB5KDC_ERR_RESPONSE_TOO_BIG OS X Client - KDC (over TCP): AS_REQ (also with PA-ENC-TIMESTAMP in padata) OS X Client <- KDC (over TCP): KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP ...and that's it. This is what I think is going on: The OS X client sends a kerberos request. The KDC says, "You need to pre-authenticate. Try again" The OS X client tries to pre-authenticate (all this so far is over UDP) Something gets lost on our network and the KDC says, "Oops something went wrong" The OS X client switches to TCP and tries again. Over TCP, the KDC says, "You're using an encryption type I don't support" Note that in its padata records, the OS X client is always using "aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96" as its encryption type. However, in its KDC_REQ_BODY record it lists the aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96, aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96, des3-cbc-sha1, and rc4-hmac encryption types. When the KDC comes back with KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP, it uses rc4-hmac as its encryption type in its padata record. I know next to nothing about Kerberos, but it seems to me that the OS X client should go ahead and try the rc4-hmac encryption type. However, it does nothing after this.   • How does VirtualBox's memory usage work?

    I've been running several VM's with VirtualBox, and the memory usage reported from various perspectives, and I'm having trouble figuring how much memory my VMs actually use. Here is an example: I have a VM running Windows 7 (as the Guest OS) on my windows XP Host machine. The Host Machine Has 3 GB of RAM The Guest VM is setup to have a base memory of 1 GB If I run Task Manger on the Guest OS, I see memory usage of 430 MB If I run Task Manger on the host OS, I see 3 processes that seem to belong to VirtualBox: VirtualBox.exe (1), using 60 MB of memory (This one seems to have the most CPU usage) VirtualBox.exe (2), using 20 MB of memory VBoxSvc.exe, using 11.5 MB of memory While running the VM, the Host OS's memory usage is about 2 GB When I shut down the VM, the Host OS's it goes back to memory usage goes down to about 900 MB So clearly, there are some huge differences here. I really don't understand how the GuestOS can use 400+ MB, while the Host OS only shows about 75 MB allocated to the VM. Are there other processes used by VirtualBox that aren't as obviously named? Also, I'd like to know if I run a machine with 1 GB, is that going to take 1 GB away from my host OS, or only the amount of memory the Guest machine is currently using? update Somene expressed distrust over my memory usage numbers, and I'm not sure if that distrust was directed at me, or my Host OS's Task Manager's reporting (which is perhaps the culprit), but for any skeptics, here is a screenshot of those processes on the host machine:

    i started working with ubuntu 11.10 last year. i upgraded to 12.04 a week back. since then i have had all sorts of problems with network connection. first had to install the new driver. the hardware switch somehow got disabled then the above problem arrived. even tho the options are all enabled, the OS is not able to detect scan available network connections. also i have to bring to notice that once in a while it does get connected, can not explain how it happens.     Hi I have spent aprox 2 days trying to get this to work doing a google searches left and right and I did get it working except for sprite batch nodes. So in my class I am able to load kuwalio_stand.png and I tested kuwalio_walk1.png and 2 and 3 from the FrameCache(). They work for sure 100%.   • Spritebatch node animation appears to be broken in cocos2d-x 2.0.3

    Hi I have spent aprox 2 days trying to get this to work doing a google searches left and right and I did get it working except for sprite batch nodes. So in my class I am able to load kuwalio_stand.png and I tested kuwalio_walk1.png and 2 and 3 from the FrameCache(). They work for sure 100%.   • Nagios "CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds" problems with service and host Checks.

    Hi Everyone, got a little bit of a problem with a Nagios system we are using in our office, which has only recently started appearing. what i would like to know really is the best solution to resolve this problem as ive done a bit of reading on it and there seems to be lots of different ways to solve it.. basically at random points throughout the day and on random hosts / services we will get a Critical warning flagged up that something is not behaving as it should, when we investigate 9 times out of 10 we end up with this as an error message. "SERVICE ALERT: SERVERNAME ;NSClient++ Version;CRITICAL;SOFT;1;CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds" indicating the service or host has timed out, where do i go about setting the timeouts so this stops ? ive read that some of the plugin timesouts are as low as 10 seconds... thanks Kris

    How can I use PowerShell [adsisearcher] to query a domain that I am not a member of? Usually I will do something like this: $myAdsi = [adsisearcher]"" $myAdsi.SearchRoot = [adsi]"LDAP://dc=corp,dc=mycompany,dc=com" $myAdsi.Filter = "objectCategory=computer" $res = $myAdsi.FindAll() If I run this snippet on a host in my domain, I get the expected result. However, if I run this from a computer that has network access to the domain (through a L2L VPN) I get the error: Exception calling "FindAll" with "0" argument(s): "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. " At line:11 char:33 + $adComputers = $searcher.FindAll <<<< () + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : DotNetMethodException This is somewhat expected as I have not provided any sort of credentials to [adsisearcher] that would tell it how to authenticate. My question is: how do I let [adsisearcher] know that I want to authenticate against a domain in which I am not a member?
