  • DNS problems with Google on Windows 7

    Hello dear superuser community. I had no idea where to post this because it is a problem that completely baffles me. I have a lot of experience with network configuration, but I am completely out of ideas on how to fix this. I have a Fritz!Box branded router on my ISP 1&1 in Germany. My computer is connected to it with a normal Ethernet cable. I always manually set my IP on the computer and use the Google DNS servers for name resolution. I also tried OpenDNS and the result is the same. With that configuration the following happens: Google search responds with big delay Gmail, Google Calendar & Google Drive requests time out the majority of the time In order to troubleshoot, I set the network connection to DHCP for both IP & DNS. At that point, what happens is the following: Google search times out most of the time Gmail, Google Calendar & Google Drive work most of the time Sometimes, it happens that the sites that time out will come up, but weirdly enough, the pictures on the buttons will be missing. For instance, the magnifying glass on Google will be gone or the circle arrow on Gmail (but all buttons of course). All other websites load just fine - and very quickly. All other network functionality is completely unimpacted. The behaviour of fixed IP & Google DNS vs automatic IP & DNS is easily reproducible. I am going crazy trying to fix this as I have no idea what the hell is going on at this point. Here a list of the things I have tried thus far: Flushed the DNS Tried on different browsers (Works fine on my laptop by the way) Tried disabling Teredo & IPv6 stack Emptied all caches Checked the HOSTS file Rebooted the router Reset the router Reinstalled the network adapter Tracert displayes normal route until timing out at one point Ping usually doesn't work for the unreachable sites either Ran both complete Norton 360 & Kaspersky 2012 scan Ran Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool in safe mode Tried connection in safe mode & networking enabled If you have any ideas, please let me know. I'm getting desperate...

  • Why does Google Reader use up so much memory?

    I'm running the dev version of Chrome and just found out I could see the memory usage of every tab (press shift + ESC to find out yourself). Turns out the Shockwave Flash plugin uses 240 MB of memory and 27% of CPU while having open Google Reader. Killing this page brings it down to 50 MB. I reckon it builts up after reading through about 100 feeds. So my question is: why does it take up so much memory and what should I do to diminish it? Why I care? I often don't restart my browser (or laptop for that matter) and keep the Google Reader tab open for long periods of time. The memory does start to add up that way. Plus I have the feeling, perhaps incorrect, that it slows things down as well looking at the CPU usage. Side note: using Chrome 4 on Windows 7 (32 bit)

  • Is there a way to see what is typed or websites visted when a spouse is using google chrome in incognito ?

    My spouse and I have 2 laptops both running windows 7 and I have 1 desktop running vista. I have reason to believe she is cheating and I want to watch her internet usage, She is always using google chrome in incognito mode. I have tried a few keyloggers but they never seem to be able to get the keystrokes when she is on google. I dont know if there is a way I can network them so they go thru my desktop then to the internet. We are using Brighthouse cable internet. any ideas would be great thank you

  • Massive Crawling requests from Google Apps Engine useragent

    Hi friends, I'm badly affected with 'Google AppEngine-Google' UserAgent.. receiving 5/6 requests per second on http server. This bot is crawling my site just like GoogleBot does. Following is the sample of url in my access logs. 72.14.192.3 - - [19/May/2010:01:27:06 +0000] "GET /some-url/etc-123.htm HTTP/1.1" 200 4707 "-" "AppEngine-Google; (+http://code.google.com/appengine; appid: harpy000)" I have checked the ip address it is registered with Google Inc. Can anyone tell me where i can report Abuse to Google Inc. Or any information about this issue. Thank you!

  • Have main website hosted on 3rd party while keeping Google Sites for Users

    Hi, I want a third party hosting my main site with PHP, MySQL, etc... I don't know which DNS records to modify. Is it possible to have the following mappings: www.example.com = 3rd party hosting blog.example.com = other 3rd party hosting mail.example.com = Google Mail docs.example.com = Google Docs sites.example.com = Google Sites sites.example.com/internal-site = Google Sites internal site ... Right now in TotalDNS, I have www = ghs.google.com. If I modify only this record to point to the IP provided by the 3rd party hosting, is it going to work ? Do I also need to add NameServers, remove the ones Google added ? Thx for the help

  • infoWindow on MarkerClusterer in google maps

    I need infoWindow to be opened instead of zooming in map, when clicking on the ClusterMarker. I am using Gmaps util library MarkerClusterer for creating cluster of markers. I tried changing following line in markerclusterer.js ClusterMarker_.prototype = new GOverlay(); with ClusterMarker_.prototype = new GMarker(); so that I can get the openInfoWindow() function in the clustermarker, but that didnt worked out. Got some error. If possible, Please suggest solution so that this can be done with MarkerClusterer. Or else any other library which will be able to do this. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi, I am trying to implement Google Authentication in my website, in which I would also be pulling some Google Data using the Google Data API and I am using Google App Engine with Jinja2. My question is, so many ways are mentioned to do it. I am confused between Google Federated Login,Google Data Protocol, Hybrid Protocol. Are these things the same or different ways to do the same thing. From what I read and understood, which might be incorrect, Google Federated Login uses the hybrid protocol to authenticate and fetch the google data. Is there a proper guide to implement any one of these in python. Examples which I found at the google link are kind of different. From what I understood,correct me if i am wrong, I have to implement only the OpenID Consumer part. In order to implement Google Federated Login in Python, I saw that we need to download a separate library from the openid-enabled.com but I found a different library for the google data implementation at http://code.google.com/p/gdata-python-client/ As you can see, I am confused a lot :D.     hi , i am designing a simple project based to do list. the idea is to define tasks under project ( no workflow - just "task is completed" or not is required. ) in a hirarchial way. i.e. each task has multiple task and that task may have other multiple task. a project can be said to be completed if all task under that project are completed. , i tought of using refrenceproeperty to create hirarchy , but could not figure out easy way ( which do not take more than 30 seconds to find all the children of a project and check weather it is completed or not ) . to detect if project is complete or not. how to design database for such job ? and also , if i need to copy the project in order to define another project , how to copy hierarchical data ?

  • Doing large updates against indexed view

    We have an indexed view that runs across three large tables. Two of these tables (A & B) are constantly getting updated with user transactions and the other table (C) contains data product info that is needs to be updated once a week. This product table contains over 6 million records. We need this view across these three tables for our core business process and unfortunately we cannot change this aspect. We even had a sql server MVP come in to help test under load to make sure we have the most efficient configuration. There is one column in the product table that gets utilized in the view and has to be updated each week. The problem we are now encountering is that as volume is increasing on our transactions against tables A & B, the update to Table C is causing deadlocks. I have tried several different methods to no avail: 1) I was hoping that we could change the view so that table C could be a dirty read "WITH (NOLOCK)" but apparently that functionality is not available with indexes views. 2) I thought about updating a new column in Table C and then just renaming it when the process is done but you cannot do that due to the dependency in the view. 3) I also entertained the idea of writing this value to a temporary product table, and then running an ALTER statement against the view to have it point to my new table. however when i did that the indexes on my view were dropped and it took quite a bit of time to recreate them. 4) we tried to do the weekly update in small chunks (as small as 100 records at a time) but we still run into dead locks. questions: a) we are using sql server 2005. Does sql server 2008 have a new functionality with their indexed views that would help us? Is there now a way to do dirty reads w/ an indexed view? b) a better approach to altering an existing view to point to a new table? thanks!

    I am using the API to understand the performance of Adwords ad campaigns. I need to know how to attribute metrics back to the date dimension. For instance, for a given date, if I have 20 clicks, 18 visits, and 3 goal completions, does it mean that: 1) All of these actions happened on the day in question and are otherwise independent (meaning that the 3 goals could have been for people that clicked any time in the past 30 days, not who clicked on that day) 2) The on-site actions are a subset of the click activity on that day (i.e. on that day, 20 people clicked, 18 registered a real visit, and 3 completed a goal) If it is scenario 2, does that mean there is a need to refresh old rows every day?     I am querying the __Stat_Kind__ kind. It does not return me entities about kinds that currently exist in the datastore but it includes entities about kinds that I had deleted more than a week ago. I am not so much concerned about it returning me the non-existent kinds - the doc does mention this scenario after all. But I am concerned that it does not return me info about my current kinds. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong? To folks on the app engine team: Also, on the dev server neither __Stat_Kind__ nor __Stat_Total__ return any entities. Which means I need to deploy my app to appspot before I can test this behavior. It would be nice if the dev server did return some basic info. Thanks, Keyur

Basically I want it to list down the records like this: '<div id="record_' + number + '">' + localstorage value + '</div>' The number in the class should add 1 every record, e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4 every record it lists down, and so on. And what I need to provide is just the url of the spreadsheet.   • iPhone: Animating a view when another view appears/disappears

    I have the following view hierarchy UITabBarController - UINavigationController - UITableViewController When the table view appears (animated) I create a toolbar and add it as subview of the TabBar at the bottom of the page and let it animate in with the table view. Same procedure in other direction, when the table view disappears. It does not work as expected. The animation duration is OK, but somehow not exact the same as the animation of the table view when it becomes visible When I display the table view for the second time, the toolbar does not disappear at all and remains at the bottom of the parent view.   • Google App Engine - low-level datastore API flag?

    In my GAE-Java app, I'm using the low-level datastore API. Hence I don't need the GAE app instance to load any of the higher level data access libraries such as JPA, JDO, Data Nucleus, etc. Is there a flag that I can set to indicate that I don't want these libraries to be loaded? My motivation to do this is to reduce app instance startup time everywhere I can. Now I don't know if these libraries are loaded only on-demand or always. The dev environment logs messages related to data nucleus which seems to indicate that some of these libraries may be pre-loaded? I hope I'm wrong here. Thanks, Keyur

  • iPhone View Switching basics.

    I am just trying to get my head around simple view switching for the iPhone and have created a simple app to try and help me understand it. I have included the code from my root controller used to switch the views. My app has a single toolbar with three buttons on it each linking to one view. Here is my code to do this but I think there most be a more efficient way to achieve this? Is there a way to find out / remove the current displayed view instead of having to do the if statements to see if either has a superclass?
