• Migrating Roaming Profiles from one drive to another

  As the title suggests, how can I migrate roaming profiles located in one drive (starting to fill up already) to another? Current share is like this "SVR1\Shares\UserProfiles\%username%\ But of course, this is located in C:/Shares/UserProfiles/%username%/ What do I need to do? Do I simply copy/paste into the bigger(RAID1) drive and then repoint all the profile paths (using AD Users&Computers profile properties)? What if I can point this to a different file server all together? Best practices? tips? anything you guys can suggest. Thanks!

  I want to move a volume from a smaller drive to a larger unformatted one. What is the best way to achieve this? Ideally I'd like the new volume to have the same name as the older volume as it contains user accounts, and is a destination of various symlinks that I have on other volumes. Update: I used Carbon Copy Cloner in the end and it worked perfectly. I was able to simply rename the new volume in Finder to the same name as the old volume and then powered down and removed the old drive on which the volume lived. When I restarted, the new volume seamlessly worked in place of the old volume.

  I currently have an IIS6 server that hosts one web site/domain. I am developing another web site (completely separate) that I want to host on this same server. Both domains were purchased from GoDaddy. I believe I will need a server-side ISAPI rewrite filter to internally route the incoming requests based on the domain name. I plan to use Ionic's ISAPI Rewrite Filter to do this because it is free. I know how to install the ISAPI filter and apply it to a web site in IIS, but I have no clue how I am going to route the incoming requests correctly (based on the domain). Also, I don't know if it is wise to setup multiple "Web Sites" or "Virtual Directories". I am thinking that this will depend on how the configured. How should I go about getting this accomplished?

  I have a server with two Raids. Raid 0: 2x 1TB Raid 6: 8x 2TB The first raid I used for the hyper-v installation itself. The virtual machines should use the Raid 6, but how can I config it? I need at least one file server with the most of the disc space (maybe a second). But every vhd has a maximum of 2 TB and I can't use the volume directly because other virtual machines have to have access the Raid6. What do I do?

  I have spreadsheets in OpenOffice.org Calc that consist of the first sheet and an arbitrary number of additional sheets, each collecting data for a specific month. The Month sheets have an identical structure. The first sheet is supposed to provide an overview to the most important numbers in the month sheets. Whenever I add a Month sheet, I want it to appear automatically in the Overview sheet with the structure given below. So, for each Month sheet, copy or reference some of the cells into the Overview sheet: {Referenced Sheet Name} | Fixed Header1 | Fixed Header2 | Fixed Header3 Fixed Label 1 | {CellRef 1} | {CellRef 2} | {CellRef 3} Fixed Label 2 | {CellRef 4} | {CellRef 5} | {CellRef 6} I know how do to this for just one sheet by hand, but I have no clue how to make Calc do this automatically for me. • Two virtual computers using one laptop?

  Hi, I have a laptop and an external display. I am able to use the external display either as extended desktop OR duplicate desktop. I also use a separate keyboard and mouse. So effectively, the laptop acts just as a box without display. I want to know is it possible to use the laptop as 2 virtual PCs. (with separate control). I.E., one person uses the laptop as a laptop, and other person can simultaneously connect a keyboard and mouse and the external display and effectively get a second PC. OS I am using - windows (thought solution for other OSes are welcome). Laptop is a Dell Precision M6300. thanks JP

• All nework interfaces hang for seconds while one interface goes up/down

  I am building a client/server application that uses several network interfaces in parallel for redundancy, and I have noticed that while one network interface goes down or goes up, the communication on other interfaces hangs for several seconds. I could reproduce this behavior without my application in a simple way: there are 2 interfaces available on computer 1 ( Ethernet and WiFi ) ping from computer 2 the IP address of the Ethernet connection of computer 1 disconnect the WiFi of computer 1 ping hangs for seconds, and then the packets are traveling again between the 2 computers. The hanging happens as well if I turn back on the WiFi connection on computer 1. It happens as well if I ping the WiFi IP, and turn off/on the Ethernet connection ( or unplug/plug the cable). I am using Linux Ubuntu 12.04 on both computers. Any ideas why is this happening, and if / how can it be avoided?

  Hi all, I'm planning out a joinder between two domains, as would take place with contracting companies. Forests A and B exist in distant sites, and there is to be a one-way forest trust so that domain users in Forest A can be authenticated on machines in Forest B. In order to facilitate this, each forest's domain controller must be able to contact each other in order to set up & confirm the trust, but my question is what underlying networking magic must take place beneath it. So far the prevailing approach has been to maintain a VPN connection between the two sites, but the technet documentation seems to indicate that DNS forwarding may be the way to go. Is this the case? Furthermore, if DNS will suffice, does that mean that there must be a server running DNS on boundary servers in each domain so that they can be reached from across the internet? How must they be configured? Thanks!

• phpize: m4 error just in one extension

  On Linux, I installed php 5.3.8 from source. Using phpize for installing an extension works fine but not on one specific extension (mysqlnd). # cd /opt/php/5.3.8/ext/pdo && /opt/php/5.3.8/bin/phpize ... this runs ok # cd /opt/php/5.3.8/ext/mysqlnd && /opt/php/5.3.8/bin/phpize Cannot find config.m4. Make sure that you run '/opt/php/5.3.8/bin/phpize' in the top level source directory of the module` As you can see error can not be that I am not on top level source directory since I am. I tried to call phpize from ext folder - did not work either! For info I have m4 installed Any idea? Thanks :)

  Hello everyone. Question: On FreeBSD8 I need to have two opened HTTPS different ports (443 and 444, for example). In other words, I need two providers, working simultaneously: Ordinary SSL signed certificate (# Thawte) on 443 port Special russian security provider (# DIGTProvider, based on CryptoPro CSP software) on 444 port I also have to mentioned, that the major provider is the 2'nd provider. I want to give each of my clients a personalized URL to access my web site. I have mySite.com and I would like to allow client A to acess the site via A.mySite.com and client B to use B.mySite.com. These would all point the the mySite.com domain with the same ip address. Can this be done in IIS? Do I have to register new domains for each client? Are there other ways to accomplish the same thing?

• Migration of egroupware from one Ubuntu server to another

  I am new to server administration and have been attempting to migrate from one Ubuntu server to another for 4 days now. I am having a problem with migration of egroupware settings. Specifically, I need to find where knowledgebase saves the files on the local machine. I have the database set correctly and its using the previous settings. However, articles in knowledgebase are not showing images associated with them. I have tried everything to find the file on the old server that stores data files uploaded to the knowlegebase but I cannot. If there is another way to import these files, or if someone knows where they are saved, I would really appreciate the help. -Chris

  I have a Mac (OS X 10.5) that I would like to connect to a dedicated/isolated Internet connection (one that is not connected to the LAN), and a LAN. The LAN is set up with its own, separate, Internet connection which is shared by several dozen computers (and is quite slow). I want to set it up so that the Mac uses its own dedicated Internet connection (on a different account with a different company) for its Internet access, but can still access the local area network as well.   I'm trying to find out whether it's generally possible to have a multi-monitor setup with both a widescreen monitor and a regular monitor (ie. one with a 4:3 picture ratio). I'd like to run them in Extended Desktop mode on a Windows Vista machine. The computer is a Dell notebook with an onboard Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset. While I know that this notebook is capable of driving multiple monitors, I don't know if it is also able to drive monitors with varying resolutions. Does anyone know if differing screen resolutions is generally a problem?

  If you're a Firefox user you know that if you have 10 tabs open and say you're in the tab #5. If you open a new tab which will become #11 in order and search something, after you finish and close this #11 tab Firefox will direct you the the last active tab you were in which is #5. Using Vimperator You won't get the similar effect. In the same scenario, while you're in tab #5 you can go t and search for something which will lead to opening a tab at #11. Now you press d and where you are now ? #10 and you need to ctrl+p all the way back to #5. So in this case I am looking for one of these solutions. to be able to open a tab straight after the current tab (which closing it will capital D will put me back to my active tab) a way to close a tab and being brought back to the last active tab that I worked on. Will appreciate it if somebody got a solution for this. thanks

• Sonicwall - dual WAN ports - switch from one to another

  Hi, Folks! I'm using a SonicWall NSA 240 which has two WAN ports (T1 and Comcast) and the LAN port has a cable which connects to a switch. From the switch, several cables connect to other switches. The SonicWall doesn't have DHCP enabled; one of our domain controllers running Windows Server 2003 also functions as a DHCP server. Is there a way for a user in our network to change connection from T1 to Comcast as their ISP or vice versa?   Hi, I have a automation build server which creates nightly builds. It does this while logged off in Windows XP. This is is one domain while the server I wish to copy the builds to is in another domain (win2k3). I can't use a network share when logged off and as soon as I try to browse manually to the server it prompts for a username/password I am guessing the only way is to create a script/batch file which has a domain account and password for the server and runs at a scheduled time. If there is a more elegant way, please let me know. thanks

• Redirect input from one terminal to another

  I have sshed into a linux box and I'm using dvtm and bash (although I have also tried this with Gnu screen and bash). I have two terminals, current /dev/pts/29 and /dev/pts/130. I want to redirect the input from one to the other. From what I understand, in /dev/pts/130 I can type: cat </dev/pts/29 And then when I type in /dev/pts/29 the characters I type should show up in /dev/pts/130. However what ends up happening is that every other character I type gets redirected. For example, if I type "hello" I get this: /dev/pts/29 | /dev/pts/130 $ | $ cat </dev/pts/29 $ el | hlo This is really frustrating as I need to do this in order to redirect the io of a process running in gdb (I've tried both run /dev/pts/# and set inferior-tty /dev/pts/# and both resulted in the aforementioned behavior). Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug in bash/screen/dvtm?

I don't want to just deny access to the whole youtube domain, but only to replace the .flv/.mp4 request with the one that I want. That way, if someone tries to watch youtube videos on the network, He'll get a video of why using our expensive bandwidth for pleasure is a no-no. I thought about using a packet manipulation program and just replace the video ID with something that I want, but I didn't manage to do it right.

  I have a 1tb NAS that has a 1tb usb external hard attached I have prepared the file system on the usb disk and mounted it I want to 100% sync my data from my nas to the usb disk - but I want it to be incremental and only have the NAS as the 'master' - eg if a file changes on the usb external hard drive I want it to ignore this change as its not the live version (not that I think the files will change on the usb disk but im paranoid the live could get overwritten) Also if a file gets deleted on live I want to retain the deleted file on the usb disk Can unison sync one-way and achive the above for me? if so with simply unison sorce/ target/ Work? • Adding multiple Exchange accounts under one profile in Outlook 2010 or 2013

  I work for two companies, each having own Exchange Server. I want to configure my Outlook for both email accounts. I am not able to add both accounts under the same profile in Outlook 2010, nor 2013. I found some how-to articles, each involving Office Configuration Tool. However, my installation does not support this tool. I have Office 2010 Home and Business, and Office 2013 Preview click-to-run. Is there another way? P.S. Having two different profiles, one for each Exchange account, is inconvenient. I cannot run two instances of Outlook at the same time and switching all the time is tedious.
