• MS SQL and .NET Typed Dataset AllowDBNull Metadata

  Good afternoon, I am generating a typed dataset from a stored procedure. The stored procedure may contain something like: select t1.colA, t2.colA AS t2colA from t1 inner join t2 on t1.key = t2.key When I generate the typed dataset, the dataset knows whether t1.colA allows NULLs, but it always puts FALSE in AllowDBNull for t2.colA even if t2.colA allows NULL. Is this because the column is aliased? Is there any way, from SQL, to hint to VS that the column allows NULL? We currently have to go in and update the column's AllowDBNull if we regenerate the table. Thanks in advance. Christian

• How to fix slow scrolling when using webkit-transform and relative positioning on the iphone

  I have implemented scrolling of a div by using relative positioning and webkit animation for the iphone, it works beautifully on desktop safari but is choppy on the actual iphone (fine on the simulator). The scrolling works by having a div nested and clipped (overflow:hidden) by its parent. I then set the top position and animate it with -webkit style declarations. The iphone seems to noticeably slow down when there are a lot of items in the inner div. Any ideas how make the scrolling smoother? This was a problem with iScroll code and my own hand coded stuff.

  I have the following html <div id="list_item_template"><li><a href="#">Text</a></li></div> and javascript: var item = $("#list_item_template").clone(); What I want to do is access the inner <a> tag of the cloned copy and add an attribute. Without cloning I would just do: $("#list_item_template a").attr("onclick", "SomeFunction()"); However, I need to perform that operation on the cloned copy, not on the html currently on the page. How would I do this?

• XML/XHTML replace content?

  I have a XHTML string I want to replace tags in for example <span tag="x">FOO</span> <span tag="y"> <b>bar</b> some random text <span>another span</span> </span> I want to be able to find tag="x" and replace FOO with my own content and find tag=y and replace all the inner content with by own content. What is the best way to do this? I am thinking regex is definitely out of the question. Can XPATH do this or is that just for searching can it do manipulation?

• Could not load ruby textmate?

  I have a MacBook Pro, running Mavericks, but I'm not too acquainted with its inner workings. I'm just a humble CS student. After install Ruby 1.9.3 and Rails 4.0.0, I get this annoying message every time I open a new terminal window: Unknown ruby interpreter version (do not know how to handle): textmate. Could not load ruby textmate. The message is in bright red, so it worries me. What can I do to fix it/get rid of it? Thanks! EDIT: As it turns out, the message stopped showing, but I can't recall what I did to make it stop. In any case - thanks for reading!

• Simple MySQL Query taking 45 seconds (Gets a record and its "latest" child record)

  I have a query which gets a customer and the latest transaction for that customer. Currently this query takes over 45 seconds for 1000 records. This is especially problematic because the script itself may need to be executed as frequently as once per minute! I believe using subqueries may be the answer, but I've had trouble constructing it to actually give me the results I need. SELECT customer.CustID, customer.leadid, customer.Email, customer.FirstName, customer.LastName, transaction.*, MAX(transaction.TransDate) AS LastTransDate FROM customer INNER JOIN transaction ON transaction.CustID = customer.CustID WHERE customer.Email = '".$email."' Or Can this query be optimised? Any setting in SQL Server 2000?

  Hi, I want to find out the zoom level of what is being displayed in a browser window based on the javascripts' window object properties (http://www.javascriptkit.com/jsref/window.shtml) to which I have access. I just can't seem to find the right mathematical formula for the zoom based on the inner width, page offset, etc. I found a solution, but that uses the document.body.getBoundingClientRect call which does not return anything in my case and for which I can't tell if there's a suitable replacement from the window properties. • Different ways to query this search in SQL?

  I am teaching myself MS-SQL and I am trying to find different ways to find the Count of Paid and Unpaid Claims for 2012 grouped by Region from these 3 tables. If there is a returned date, the claim is unpaid if the returned date is null then the claim is paid. I will attach the code I have ran, but I am not sure if there are better ways to do it. Thanks. • Is .net 4.0 really not capable of sending emails with attachments larger than 3MB's

  I recently had an issue after upgrading my .net framework to 4.0 from 3.5, I did this because in 4.0 the SMTPClient finally sends a QUIT command to the SMTP server. • IE page redirect hanging

  My app does a POST to my local server to create a new DOM element, comes back and should redirect to the same page with the new element. The problem is when it gets back from the server, the app hangs for almost 2 minutes before doing the redirect. I've isolated the issue to the fact that IE seems to have trouble with my tree structure of 100+ DOM elements, and I can see in HTTPWatch that it sits in a "Blocked" call for the 2 minutes before doing the redirect. Our temporary workaround is to set the inner-html of the tree structure to an empty string before submitting, thus eliminating the heavy DOM lifting, but we shouldn't need to do this (firefox has no trouble with the redirect). Question 1: Is there a better fix for this issue? Question 2: Why does ANY page care about the content before a redirect if it's going to be refreshed anyway? Thanks yall //sw

• Fluent NHib causing visual studio 2010 hanging at runtime

  Just installed and migrated a 2008 solution on Vista ultimate 64 and .net 4.0. Everything builds and tests run surprisingly well but I got the hang description below while trying to run the app under SQLite. It turns out that the hang has got something to do when the call is made for FNH to build the session factory during a run, the only feedback I get is that the database wasn't configure properly without any inner exception. The strange part is that the exact code works perfectly under tests. Any clues? Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. • Generate Info (wrapper) Class from stored procedure

  Hello everybody I am in a crucial project and I am trying to speed up the development phase by using codesmith for generating the business class DAL and info class for the tables of my project. There are about 50 tables with relationships parent child many to many and for retrieving data I have to code several inner joins in stored procedures. I have to combine fields from many tables and this makes working with the info class difficult. Is there anyway to generate info class from stored procedures or to be more exact is there a way to parse the result set of the stored procedure and to generate the info class with properties for every column in that result set. Please if anyone can give me some advice and tell me how to achieve this. Best Regards

• Marshal a list of objects from VB6 to C#

  I have a development which requires the passing of objects between a VB6 application and a C# class library. The objects are defined in the C# class library and are used as parameters for methods exposed by other classes in the same library. The objects all contain simple string/numeric properties and so marshaling has been relatively painless. We now have a requirement to pass an object which contains a list of other objects. If I was coding this in VB6 I might have a class containing a collection as a member variable. In C# I might have a class with a List member variable. Is it possible to construct a C# class in such a way that the VB6 application could populate this inner list and marshal it successfully? I don't have a lot of experience here but I would guess Id have to use an array of Object types.

  I have the following models: class Event < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :action_items end class ActionItem < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :event belongs_to :action_item_type end class ActionItemType < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :action_items end And what I want to do is, for a given event, find all the action items that have an action item type with a name of "foo" (for example). So I think the SQL would go something like this: SELECT * FROM action_items a INNER JOIN action_item_types t ON a.action_item_type_id = t.id WHERE a.event_id = 1 AND t.name = "foo" Can anybody help me translate this into a nice active record query? • Changing a SUM returned NULL to zero

  I have a Stored Procedure as follows: CREATE PROC [dbo].[Incidents] (@SiteName varchar(200)) AS SELECT ( SELECT SUM(i.Logged) FROM tbl_Sites s INNER JOIN tbl_Incidents i ON s.Location = i.Location WHERE s.Sites = @SiteName AND i.[month] = DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm, 0, GetDate()) -1,0) GROUP BY s.Sites ) AS LoggedIncidents 'tbl_Sites contains a list of reported on sites. 'tbl_Incidents containts a generated list of total incidents by site/date (monthly) 'If a site doesnt have any incidents that month it wont be listed. The problem I'm having is that a site doesnt have any Incidents this month and as such i get a NULL value returned for that site when i run this sproc, but i need to have a zero/0 returned to be used within a chart in SSRS. I've tried the using coalesce and isnull to no avail. SELECT COALESCE(SUM(c.Logged,0)) SELECT SUM(ISNULL(c.Logged,0)) Is there a way to get this formatted correctly? Cheers, Lee

Now I think I could figure that out on my own, but you can see on the live page that if the user is on a page from the innerlist and that list was visible, then if they hovered over the other nav tab, then those innerlists would overlap. This is a problem. Hopefully that last sentence makes sense! In short: I need to keep the inner list of the active page displaying, BUT if the user hovers over another nav button WITH it's own inner list, then the live innerlist needs to disappear. Clear as mud?

• ASP.NET Nested Repeater Accessing elements

  I have a list of Accommodation objects bound to a Repeater, and then a nested Repeater which has the various attendee groups listed [e.g. Default, Seniors, Juniors]. This is all output fine, with the values displayed as LinkButtons, which when clicked gets sent to a code-behind event handler. Here is an example of the output to give you a picture [with some er... interesting attendee group names]: In the event handler, I test the object parameter to see which Repeater has been sent, as the outer repeater's links can also be clicked [so the Accommodation would be set, but no Attendee Group]. Is there a way to get a HiddenField from the outer RepeaterItem that contains the currently clicked inner repeater's LinkButton? E.g. From the image, I click the Attending link in the Women section. So the EventArgs via FindControl can get me the hidden field which contains the Attendee Group's ID, which is good, but I also need the Accommodation ID [to know whether it was either Wimbledon Hotel Inn or New Acc]

  this is my setup <div id="uxcParent"> <div id="uxcClickable"></div> </div> now when a user clicks in the inner element i want the mouse position with respect to the parent div and not the page. this what i tried. var x= e.pageX- obj.offsetLeft; var x= e.pageY- obj.offsetTop; this works fine only when i don't scroll the page. I want the function to return the same values no matter where my elements are on the same page.

• hibernate order by association

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2, and using criteria to build a query. I'd like to add and "order by" for a many-to-one association, but I don't see how that can be done. The Hibernate query would end up looking like this, I guess: select t1.a, t1.b, t1.c, t2.dd, t2.ee from t1 inner join t2 on t1.a = t2.aa order by t2.dd <-- need to add this I've tried criteria.addOrder("assnName.propertyName") but it doesn't work. I know it can be done for normal properties. Am I missing something?

  HI, I have simple HTML code with some javascript, it looks like: <html> <head><script type="text/javascript">...</script></head> <body> <input type="radio" name="radiobutton" value="A" onClick="changeDivContent()"> <input type="radio" name="radiobutton" value="B" onClick="changeDivContent()"> <div id="content"></div> </body> </html> I just wanted to be able change div's content (it's inner html) with selecting one of "A" or "B" radio buttons, but div#content does not have javascript attribute "value", so I am asking how it can be done. • Alternative to COM blind aggregation in .NET for class with private interface

  When extending a COM class in unmanaged C++ where the original class has private interfaces, one way to do this is through the concept of blind aggregation. The idea is that any interface not explicitly implemented on the outer aggregating class is 'blindly' forwarded to the inner aggregated class. Now .NET as far as I can figure out does not support COM aggregation natively. A somewhat tedious workaround is to create a .NET class where you implement all the required COM interfaces directly on the .NET class and simply forward to an instance of the actual COM class for any methods you don't want to override. The problem I have is when the original COM object has one or more private interfaces, i.e. undocumented interfaces that are nonetheless used by some consumers of the original class. Using blind aggregation in unmanaged C++ this is a non-issue as the calls to the private interfaces are automatically forwarded to the original class, however I can't find any way of doing the same thing in .NET. Are there any other ways of accomplishing this with .NET?
