  • location getting some times and sometimes not

    - by Chaitanya Sai
    // in this i'm getting location sometimes and sometimes location is not retrieving i had turned gps and gprs on and added permissions required . i'm bot getting what actually the problem is package com.example.addr; import java.util.List; import java.util.Locale; import android.location.Address; import android.location.Criteria; import android.location.Geocoder; import android.location.Location; import android.location.LocationListener; import android.location.LocationManager; import android.os.Bundle; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Context; import android.view.Menu; import android.widget.TextView; public class MainActivity extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); LocationManager locationManager; String context = Context.LOCATION_SERVICE; locationManager = (LocationManager)getSystemService(context); Criteria crta = new Criteria(); crta.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE); crta.setAltitudeRequired(false); crta.setBearingRequired(false); crta.setCostAllowed(true); crta.setPowerRequirement(Criteria.POWER_LOW); String provider = locationManager.getBestProvider(crta, true); // String provider = LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER; Location location = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(provider); updateWithNewLocation(location); locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(provider, 2000, 10, locationListener); } private final LocationListener locationListener = new LocationListener() { @Override public void onLocationChanged(Location location) { updateWithNewLocation(location); } @Override public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { updateWithNewLocation(null); } @Override public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { } @Override public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { } }; private void updateWithNewLocation(Location location) { String latLong; TextView myLocation; myLocation = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.myLocation); String addressString = "Sorry No Address Found"; if(location!=null) { double lat = location.getLatitude(); double lon = location.getLongitude(); latLong = "Lat:" + lat + "\nLong:" + lon; double lattitude = location.getLatitude(); double longitude = location.getLongitude(); Geocoder gc = new Geocoder(this,Locale.getDefault()); try { List<Address> addresses= gc.getFromLocation(lattitude, longitude, 1); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); if(addresses.size()>0) { Address address=addresses.get(0); for(int i=0;i<address.getMaxAddressLineIndex();i++) sb.append(address.getAddressLine(i)).append("\n"); sb.append(address.getLocality()).append("\n"); sb.append(address.getPostalCode()).append("\n"); sb.append(address.getCountryName()); } addressString = sb.toString(); } catch (Exception e) { } } else { latLong = " NO Location Found "; } myLocation.setText("Current Position is :\n"+ latLong + "\n"+ addressString ); } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.activity_main, menu); return true; } }

  • Guidelines for LBS Mobile application development

    - by Suriyan Suresh
    i need some help!, i am planning to develop such LBS Mobile Application which find nearest things based on gps data from mobile. 1.what are the best free and (preferably) open source technologies for development?. 2.What programming language to use for development of such application?. 3.what are the points to be considered? I need the general overview of the requirements for planning, I was interested in having a general understanding of the data, tools, and frameworks required to accomplish the job.

  • Router Alert options on IGMPv2 packets

    - by Scakko
    I'm trying to forge an IGMPv2 Membership Request packet and send it on a RAW socket. The RFC 3376 states: IGMP messages are encapsulated in IPv4 datagrams, with an IP protocol number of 2. Every IGMP message described in this document is sent with an IP Time-to-Live of 1, IP Precedence of Internetwork Control (e.g., Type of Service 0xc0), and carries an IP Router Alert option [RFC-2113] in its IP header So the IP_ROUTER_ALERT flag must be set. I'm trying to forge the strict necessary of the packet (e.g. only the IGMP header & payload), so i'm using the setsockopt to edit the IP options. some useful variables: #define C_IP_MULTICAST_TTL 1 #define C_IP_ROUTER_ALERT 1 int sockfd = 0; int ecsockopt = 0; int bytes_num = 0; int ip_multicast_ttl = C_IP_MULTICAST_TTL; int ip_router_alert = C_IP_ROUTER_ALERT; Here's how I open the RAW socket: sock_domain = AF_INET; sock_type = SOCK_RAW; sock_proto = IPPROTO_IGMP; if ((ecsockopt = socket(sock_domain,sock_type,sock_proto)) < 0) { printf("Error %d: Can't open socket.\n", errno); return 1; } else { printf("** Socket opened.\n"); } sockfd = ecsockopt; Then I set the TTL and Router Alert option: // Set the sent packets TTL if((ecsockopt = setsockopt(sockfd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_MULTICAST_TTL, &ip_multicast_ttl, sizeof(ip_multicast_ttl))) < 0) { printf("Error %d: Can't set TTL.\n", ecsockopt); return 1; } else { printf("** TTL set.\n"); } // Set the Router Alert if((ecsockopt = setsockopt(sockfd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_ROUTER_ALERT, &ip_router_alert, sizeof(ip_router_alert))) < 0) { printf("Error %d: Can't set Router Alert.\n", ecsockopt); return 1; } else { printf("** Router Alert set.\n"); } The setsockopt of IP_ROUTER_ALERT returns 0. After forging the packet, i send it with sendto in this way: // Send the packet if((bytes_num = sendto(sockfd, packet, packet_size, 0, (struct sockaddr*) &mgroup1_addr, sizeof(mgroup1_addr))) < 0) { printf("Error %d: Can't send Membership report message.\n", bytes_num); return 1; } else { printf("** Membership report message sent. (bytes=%d)\n",bytes_num); } The packet is sent, but the IP_ROUTER_ALERT option (checked with wireshark) is missing. Am i doing something wrong? is there some other methods to set the IP_ROUTER_ALERT option? Thanks in advance.

  • Android: how to get the walking distance between two geo coordinats?

    - by wei
    I used this query URL http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from+A+to+B&output=kml ,which is given in the answer to this question. But after I tried it, it doesn't work with coordinates. It works with address names tho. I guess I could use google's geocoding to get the addresses first. But I wonder if there is another way to get the walking distance between two coordinates?

  • multiple regionDidChangeAnimated calls - what gives?

    - by mvexel
    I have a MKMapView inside a UITableView as a custom cell (don't ask ;) - don't know if it matters really), for which I register a regionDidChangeAnimated delegate method. This method gets called three times when the UITableView is loaded - once with the actual region and then two more times with a region that is way off. In the simulator, I consistently get a region with center (+37.43997405, -97.03125000). On the device, it seems to depend on the location reported by the location manager, which initializes the map view. Why am I getting three regionDidChangeAnimated calls? And why are the center coordinates for the last two of them off? This is the code I use to get the center coordinates: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView regionDidChangeAnimated:(BOOL)animated { CLLocation *l = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:self.mapView.centerCoordinate.latitude longitude:self.mapView.centerCoordinate.longitude]; (....)

  • Geo Fence: how to find if a point or a shape is inside a polygon using oracle spatial

    - by Abdul
    Hi Folks, How do i find if a point or a polygon is inside another polygon using oracle spatial SQL query Here is the scenario; I have a table (STATE_TABLE) which contains a spatial type (sdo_geometry) which is a polygon (of say a State), I have another table (UNIVERSITY_TABLE) which contains spatial data (sdo_geometry) (point/polygon) which contains Universities; Now how do i find if a selected University('s) are in a given State using SQL select statement. Primarily i want to locate existence of given object(s) in a geofence. Thanks.

  • GeoCoordinateWatcher doesnt fire the event at given intervals

    - by krrishna
    I have the below code which fires the GeoCoordinateWatcher PositionChanged event for every 0.5 meteres .It might be less.But thats my requirement. The issue is when i am walking with phone doesnt fire the event at every 0.5 meters instead it fires the event after 0.5 meters randomly.And sometimes when i move fast it fires few events one after another immediately. Can anybody help me with how to ensure it fires the positionchanged event for every 0.5 meters accurately . watcher = new GeoCoordinateWatcher(GeoPositionAccuracy.Default); if (watcher.Permission == GeoPositionPermission.Granted) { watcher.MovementThreshold = 0.5;//in meters } watcher.PositionChanged += new EventHandler<GeoPositionChangedEventArgs<GeoCoordinate>>(watcher_PositionChanged); // PositionChanged events occur whenever your position changes watcher.StatusChanged += new EventHandler<GeoPositionStatusChangedEventArgs>(watcher_OnStatusChanged); watcher.Start();

  • Best way to search a point across several polygons

    - by user1474341
    I have a requirement whereby I need to match a given point (lat,lon) against several polygons to decide if there is a match. The easiest way would be to iterative over each polygon and apply the point-in-polygon check algorithm, but that is prohibitively expensive. The next optimization that I did was to define a bounding rectangle for each polygon (upper bound, lower bound) and iteratively check the point against the bounding box (fewer comparisons as against checking all the points in the polygon). Is there any other optimization possible? Would a spatial index on the bound rectangle points or a geohash help ? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Location-aware applications on WP7.5

    - by salamis
    I would like to create a location-aware application on WP7.5 Is it possible to automatically get a trigger on location change without our application running on background? For example: I would like to know if a user has moved in a new location. If the user has moved I would like to trigger a specific event from my application. My only concern is that if I do that from my application I will consume a significant amount of battery. Is it a specific WP7 service which can inform my application that the user has changed his location and trigger an event from my application? If it is possible can you please point me an example?

  • Do something when phone reaches a set of location?

    - by Pentium10
    I have a list of coordinates in the database identified as POI. For a city could be 100 records. I would like to get notified when the phone gets in 150 meters range of one of the location. The location coordinates too has an error/radius, usually 10 to 100meters. Since I don't find it good to add each location(could be hundreds) for a trigger, how can I optimize the wake-up code? Also do I have options to remove a previously setup notification from the queue?

  • pfsense single MAC is listed with several IP's in ARP table

    - by Tillebeck
    I have this problem: arp table filling up But I am quite sure that I cannot blame Kaspersky. Scenarie: a user plugs his computer in. He waits and waits but are getting no IP by DHCP. Then he is told there is an IP conflict... He end up assigning himself a static IP to access the net In the ARP table of the router I see: 192.168.24.144 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.145 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.181 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.150 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.151 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.152 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.156 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.157 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.159 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.160 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.130 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.132 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.164 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.137 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.140 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN 192.168.24.206 00:16:41:42:3c:9e Lenovo LAN The last .206 is the static address he gave himself. Several users descripe the exact same problem. It started after removing some filters in the switches, så all users are on a LAN and can see each other. Before, when filters blocked access to each others comptuers no one reported this kind of behavior. Any idéeas?
