  • Computer science textbooks

    - by Barrett Conrad
I would like to try the book question a little bit differently. My goal is to know what the community thinks are the quintessential computer science textbooks. <beginsadstory>I lost all of my computer science and math books from college in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. I greatly miss having my familiar tomes to refer to when topics and problems come up, so I am looking to rebuild my library.<endsadstory> What are your recommendations for the best examples of academic caliber books for the field of computer science and its associated mathematics? I am looking for books on subjects like computational theory, programming languages, compilers, operating systems, algorithms and so on. Don't limit your suggestions to your textbooks only. If there is a book you have read that covers computer science or a related math in a formal way, but is not strictly a textbook, I would be love to hear about them as well. Finally, for the sake of creating a good reference for all of us, may I suggest posting one book per answer so they can be rated individually.

  • Sharing sessions across applications using the ASP.NET Session State Service

    - by Dan
I am trying to share sessions between two web applications, both hosted on the same server. One is a .net 2.0 web forms application the other is as .net 3.5 MVC2 application. Both apps have their session set up like this: <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" /> In the webform application I am posting the the session key to the MVC app: protected void LinkButton1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Session["myvariable"] = "dan"; string sessionKey = HttpContext.Current.Session.SessionID; //Followed by some code that posts sessionKey to the other application } I then recieve it in the MVC application and try use the same session like this: [HttpPost] public void Recieve(string sessionKey ) { var manager = new SessionIDManager(); bool redirected; bool IsAdded; manager.SaveSessionID(HttpContext.ApplicationInstance.Context, Id, out redirected, out IsAdded); var sessionKey = Session["myvariable"]; } The key is being posted but the session does not seem to get loaded in the MVC app, i.e. sessionKey is null. Can what I am trying to do be done?

  • The subsets-sum problem and the solvability of NP-complete problems

    - by G.E.M.
I was reading about the subset-sums problem when I came up with what appears to be a general-purpose algorithm for solving it: (defun subset-contains-sum (set sum) (let ((subsets) (new-subset) (new-sum)) (dolist (element set) (dolist (subset-sum subsets) (setf new-subset (cons element (car subset-sum))) (setf new-sum (+ element (cdr subset-sum))) (if (= new-sum sum) (return-from subset-contains-sum new-subset)) (setf subsets (cons (cons new-subset new-sum) subsets))) (setf subsets (cons (cons element element) subsets))))) "set" is a list not containing duplicates and "sum" is the sum to search subsets for. "subsets" is a list of cons cells where the "car" is a subset list and the "cdr" is the sum of that subset. New subsets are created from old ones in O(1) time by just cons'ing the element to the front. I am not sure what the runtime complexity of it is, but appears that with each element "sum" grows by, the size of "subsets" doubles, plus one, so it appears to me to at least be quadratic. I am posting this because my impression before was that NP-complete problems tend to be intractable and that the best one can usually hope for is a heuristic, but this appears to be a general-purpose solution that will, assuming you have the CPU cycles, always give you the correct answer. How many other NP-complete problems can be solved like this one?

  • Increase Query Speed in PostgreSQL

    - by Anthoni Gardner
Hello, First time posting here, but an avid reader. I am experiancing slow query times on my database (all tested locally thus far) and not sure how to go about it. The database itself has 44 tables and some of them tables have over 1 Million records (mainly the movies, actresses and actors tables). The table is made via JMDB using the flat files on IMDB. Also the SQL query that I am about to show is from that said program (that too experiances very slow search times). I have tried to include as much information as I can, such as the explain plan etc. "QUERY PLAN" "HashAggregate (cost=46492.52..46493.50 rows=98 width=46)" " Output: public.movies.title, public.movies.movieid, public.movies.year" " - Append (cost=39094.17..46491.79 rows=98 width=46)" " - HashAggregate (cost=39094.17..39094.87 rows=70 width=46)" " Output: public.movies.title, public.movies.movieid, public.movies.year" " - Seq Scan on movies (cost=0.00..39093.65 rows=70 width=46)" " Output: public.movies.title, public.movies.movieid, public.movies.year" " Filter: (((title)::text ~~* '%Babe%'::text) AND ((title)::text !~~* '""%}'::text))" " - Nested Loop (cost=0.00..7395.94 rows=28 width=46)" " Output: public.movies.title, public.movies.movieid, public.movies.year" " - Seq Scan on akatitles (cost=0.00..7159.24 rows=28 width=4)" " Output: akatitles.movieid, akatitles.language, akatitles.title, " Filter: (((title)::text ~~* '%Babe%'::text) AND ((title)::text !~~* '""%}'::text))" " - Index Scan using movies_pkey on movies (cost=0.00..8.44 rows=1 width=46)" " Output: public.movies.movieid, public.movies.title, public.movies.year, public.movies.imdbid" " Index Cond: (public.movies.movieid = akatitles.movieid)" SELECT * FROM ((SELECT DISTINCT title, movieid, year FROM movies WHERE title ILIKE '%Babe%' AND NOT (title ILIKE '"%}')) UNION (SELECT movies.title, movies.movieid, movies.year FROM movies INNER JOIN akatitles ON movies.movieid=akatitles.movieid WHERE akatitles.title ILIKE '%Babe%' AND NOT (akatitles.title ILIKE '"%}'))) AS union_tmp2; Returns 612 Rows in 9078ms Database backup (plain text) is 1.61GB It's a really complex query and I am not fully cognizant on it, like I said it was spat out by JMDB. Do you have any suggestions on how I can increase the speed ? Regards Anthoni

  • How to bind form collection back to custom model object that uses 2 custom objects in asp.net mvc?

    - by baijajusav
What I'm trying to do is rather basic, but I might have my facts mixed up. I have a details page that has a custom class as it's Model. The custom class uses 2 custom objects with yet another custom object a property of one of the 2. The details page outputs a fair amount of information, but allows the user to post a comment. When the user clicks the post button, the page gets posted to a Details action that looks something like this: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Details(VideoDetailModel vidAndComment) { ....} The only fields on the form that is posted are CommentText and VideoId. Here is what the VideoDetailModel looks like. public class VideoDetailModel { public VideoDetailModel() { Video = new VideoDTO(); Comment = new CommentDTO(); } public VideoDetailModel(VideoDTO vid) { Video = vid; Comment = new CommentDTO(); } public VideoDTO Video { get; set; } public CommentDTO Comment { get; set; } } VideoDTO has a few properties, but the ones I need are VideoId. CommentDTO's pertinent properties include CommentText (which is posting correctly) and a UserDTO object that contains a userId property. Everything other than the CommentText value is not being posted. I also have the following line on the ascx page, but the model value never gets posted to the controller. Html.Hidden("Model.Video.VideoId", Model.Video.VideoId); I'm really not sure what I'm missing here. I suppose if I added more form fields for the properties I need, they would get posted, but I only need 1 form entry field for the CommentText. If I could get the same Model objects value that were sent to the page to post with the page, that would help. I'll be happy to make any clarifications needed here. I'm just at loss as to what's going on.

  • Using {% url ??? %} in django templates

    - by user563247
I have looked a lot on google for answers of how to use the 'url' tag in templates only to find many responses saying 'You just insert it into your template and point it at the view you want the url for'. Well no joy for me :( I have tried every permutation possible and have resorted to posting here as a last resort. So here it is. My urls.py looks like this: from django.conf.urls.defaults import * from login.views import * from mainapp.views import * import settings # Uncomment the next two lines to enable the admin: from django.contrib import admin admin.autodiscover() urlpatterns = patterns('', # Example: # (r'^weclaim/', include('weclaim.foo.urls')), (r'^login/', login_view), (r'^logout/', logout_view), ('^$', main_view), # Uncomment the admin/doc line below and add 'django.contrib.admindocs' # to INSTALLED_APPS to enable admin documentation: # (r'^admin/doc/', include('django.contrib.admindocs.urls')), # Uncomment the next line to enable the admin: (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), #(r'^static/(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve',{'document_root': '/home/arthur/Software/django/weclaim/templates/static'}), (r'^static/(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve',{'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT}), ) My 'views.py' in my 'login' directory looks like: from django.shortcuts import render_to_response, redirect from django.template import RequestContext from django.contrib import auth def login_view(request): if request.method == 'POST': uname = request.POST.get('username', '') psword = request.POST.get('password', '') user = auth.authenticate(username=uname, password=psword) # if the user logs in and is active if user is not None and user.is_active: auth.login(request, user) return render_to_response('main/main.html', {}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) #return redirect(main_view) else: return render_to_response('loginpage.html', {'box_width': '402', 'login_failed': '1',}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) else: return render_to_response('loginpage.html', {'box_width': '400',}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) def logout_view(request): auth.logout(request) return render_to_response('loginpage.html', {'box_width': '402', 'logged_out': '1',}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) and finally the main.html to which the login_view points looks like: <html> <body> test! <a href="{% url logout_view %}">logout</a> </body> </html> So why do I get 'NoReverseMatch' every time? *(on a slightly different note I had to use 'context_instance=RequestContext(request)' at the end of all my render-to-response's because otherwise it would not recognise {{ MEDIA_URL }} in my templates and I couldn't reference any css or js files. I'm not to sure why this is. Doesn't seem right to me)*

  • Authlogic and password and password confirmation attributes - inaccessible?

    - by adam
Im trying to test my successfully creates a new user after login (using authlogic). Ive added a couple of new fields to the user so just want to make sure that the user is saved properly. The problem is despite creating a valid user factory, whenever i try to grab its attributes to post to the create method, password and password confirmation are being ommitted. I presuem this is a security method that authlogic performs in the background. This results in validations failing and the test failing. Im wondering how do i get round this problem? I could just type the attributes out by hand but that doesnt seem very dry. context "on POST to :create" do context "on posting a valid user" do setup do @user = Factory.build(:user) post :create, :user => @user.attributes end should "be valid" do assert @user.valid? end should_redirect_to("users sentences index page") { sentences_path() } should "add user to the db" do assert User.find_by_username(@user.username) end end ##User factory Factory.define :user do |f| f.username {Factory.next(:username) } f.email { Factory.next(:email)} f.password_confirmation "password" f.password "password" f.native_language {|nl| nl.association(:language)} f.second_language {|nl| nl.association(:language)} end

  • jquery autocomplete & masterpage

    - by Caroline
Hi everyone, first time posting here, so hello to all :-) I'm pretty new to the jQuery thing, but I got the autocomplete function running quite well on a simple aspx page. Now I wanted to use the same function on an aspx-page with a masterpage, and it doesnt work anymore. this test function works fine: $(document).ready(function () { $("[id$=AlertButton]").click(function () { alert("Welcome jQuery !"); }); }); but this simply does nothing: $(document).ready(function () { $("[id$=Suchen]").autocomplete("AutocompleteData.ashx"); }); the javascript and css files are loaded in the master page, just above the contentplaceholder. the code within the contentplaceholder looks like this: <atlas:ScriptManager id="SM1" runat="server" EnablePartialRendering="true" > <Services> <atlas:servicereference path="~/xxxxx.asmx" /> </Services> </atlas:ScriptManager> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("[id$=Suchen]").autocomplete("AutocompleteData.ashx"); }); </script> <br /> <asp:Button ID="AlertButton" runat="server" Text="Button" /> <br /> <asp:TextBox ID="Suchen" Width="250" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> if I execute the .ashx page on its own, it fires back the expected data... I've been browsing tons of pages, but couldn't resolve the issue. I'd be glad for any input!!! Thanks alot & all the best, Caroline

  • slicing a 2d numpy array

    - by MedicalMath
The following code: import numpy as p myarr=[[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6],[0,1],[0,6]] copy=p.array(myarr) p.mean(copy)[:,1] Is generating the following error message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#3>", line 1, in <module> p.mean(copy)[:,1] IndexError: 0-d arrays can only use a single () or a list of newaxes (and a single ...) as an index I looked up the syntax at this link and I seem to be using the correct syntax to slice. However, when I type copy[:,1] into the Python shell, it gives me the following output, which is clearly wrong, and is probably what is throwing the error: array([1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 6]) Can anyone show me how to fix my code so that I can extract the second column and then take the mean of the second column as intended in the original code above? EDIT: Thank you for your solutions. However, my posting was an oversimplification of my real problem. I used your solutions in my real code, and got a new error. Here is my real code with one of your solutions that I tried: filteredSignalArray=p.array(filteredSignalArray) logical=p.logical_and(EndTime-10.0<=matchingTimeArray,matchingTimeArray<=EndTime) finalStageTime=matchingTimeArray.compress(logical) finalStageFiltered=filteredSignalArray.compress(logical) for j in range(len(finalStageTime)): if j == 0: outputArray=[[finalStageTime[j],finalStageFiltered[j]]] else: outputArray+=[[finalStageTime[j],finalStageFiltered[j]]] print 'outputArray[:,1].mean() is: ',outputArray[:,1].mean() And here is the error message that is now being generated by the new code: File "mypath\myscript.py", line 1545, in WriteToOutput10SecondsBeforeTimeMarker print 'outputArray[:,1].mean() is: ',outputArray[:,1].mean() TypeError: list indices must be integers, not tuple Second EDIT: This is solved now that I added: outputArray=p.array(outputArray) above my code. I have been at this too many hours and need to take a break for a while if I am making these kinds of mistakes.

  • Displaying Many-To-Many Database relationship in VB.NET 2008 with DataGrid, MS SQL 2008

    - by user337501
Computer bombed while posting this, couldnt find a duplicate question but if there is one, forgive me. So, I've run into a wall. And rather than use a ladder to avoid it, I'd like go through it. I'm setting up what I can best describe as a many-to-many relationship in a database. To examplify, imagine I have three primary tables: Items, Categories, Sections(nevermind the potential redundancy) Then I have another table, Properties. Items, Categories, and Sections can be associated with many properties. A single property can be associated with one, all, or none of the other tables. The best way I can figure to do this is to have join tables make the relationship. i.e. tblItems----(Foreign Key)----tblItems_To_Properties----(Foreign Key)----tblProperties In this example, tblItems simply has an "ItemID" Primary Key. tblItems_To_Properties has its own Primary Key(tblItems_To_PropertiesID), a Foreign Key to the Item(ItemID) and a Foreign key to the Property(PropertyID). The Properties table simply has its primary key(PropertyID) I hope this example isnt too confusing...if I have to I can find a way to put a diagram up or something. My problem is, I want to display this in a DataGrid using the Master-Detail method(DevExpress GridControl). I use the tblItems as a test, and I can see the Items in the parent view, but in the child view I see(understandably) the join table and that is it. My goal is to make it so the Grid ignores the join table and shows the Properties table as the only child. Any help on this method or insight into another solution would be muuuuuuuch appreciat

  • google appengine local datastore integration testing with spring

    - by mirror303
Hi all, I want to write some integration tests to see how my spring-managed DAO's behave when talking to the appengine datastore. Following the spring manual I will be providing my test-classes with the proper annotations: @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:applicationContext.xml" }) After a lot of browsing I found this blog post dating back to august '09 from somebody doing exactly what I want to achieve. It involves writing a TestEnvironment class that implements ApiProxy.Environment plus talking to ApiProxyLocalImpl. However, if I look at the current docs (for version 1.3.1), it seems that this has been replaced by newing an instance of the framework provided LocalDatastoreServiceTestConfig which is passed to a LocalServiceTestHelper. It is too bad that the appengine docs don't show an example how to do this with JPA because then the spring wiring would be trivial. Trying to follow the route outlined in the blog posting has me running into a compiler messages telling me that classes such as ApiProxyLocalImpl are not visible by me. Hence, there must be a new way of doing it, which probably involves the LocalServiceTestHelper. My question: Does anybody know how? I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)

  • Source Control - XCode - Visual Studio 2005/2008 / 2010

    - by Mick Walker
My apologies if this has been asked before, I wasnt quite sure if this question should be asked on a programming forum, as it more relates to programming environment than a particular technology, so please accept my (double) appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place, my logic in this case was if it effects the code I write, then this is the place for it. At home, I do a lot of my development on a Mac Pro, I do development for the Mac, iPhone and Windows on this machine (Xcode & Visual Studio - (multiple versions installed in bootcamp, but generally I run it via Parallels)). When visiting a client, I have a similar setup, but on my MacBook Pro. What I want is a source control solution to install on the Mac Pro, that will support both XCode and multiple versions of visual studio, so that when I visit a client, I can simply grab the latest copy from source control via the MacBook Pro. Whilst visiting the client, he / she may suggest changes, and minor ones I would tend to make on site, so I need the ability to merge any modified code back into the trunk of the project / solution when I return home. At the moment, I am using no source control at all, and rely on simply coping folders and overwriting them when I return from a client- thats my 'merge'!!! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a source provider I could use, which would support both Windows and Mac development environments, and is cheap (free would be better).

  • PHP Frameworks: Codeigniter vs. Yii vs. Custom?

    - by Industrial
Hi everybody, I have used codeigniter for a some years now. Why I chosed to work with codeigniter back then? Pretty much for the extensive documentation that were available and the big user community. It made me as a totally newbie to the MVC pattern able to get a site up and running really fast. I think what is priorited from my side is that the framework doesn't affect performance too much, which Codeigniter seems to be pretty good at (when compared to other frameworks out there) and Yii, an even better option. Since the time has gone from when I started out with codeigniter, the project sizes have also increased and thereby the demand of the framework and it's footprint on the code. I have thought a few times about writing a whole new MVC framework to do only the thing's I want it to do, but it feels like reinventing the wheel and I cannot yet justify it. I am not sure whether or not it's a good solution to build a site that have the potential to become really big on either Yii or Codeigniter. I have tried to find as much as possible documentation about this comparision/issue online before posting here, but have found very few real-life arguments and stories from people that have shifted between the two PHP frameworks or have been in the same situation as me. So - what's your thoughts about Codeigniter vs. Yii vs. going custom? • To (monkey)patch or not to (monkey)patch, that is the question

    - by gsakkis
I was talking to a colleague about one rather unexpected/undesired behavior of some package we use. Although there is an easy fix (or at least workaround) on our end without any apparent side effect, he strongly suggested extending the relevant code by hard patching it and posting the patch upstream, hopefully to be accepted at some point in the future. In fact we maintain patches against specific versions of several packages that are applied automatically on each new build. The main argument is that this is the right thing to do, as opposed to an "ugly" workaround or a fragile monkey patch. On the other hand, I favor practicality over purity and my general rule of thumb is that "no patch" "monkey patch" "hard patch", at least for anything other than a (critical) bug fix. So I'm wondering if there is a consensus on when it's better to (hard) patch, monkey patch or just try to work around a third party package that doesn't do exactly what one would like. Does it have mainly to do with the reason for the patch (e.g. fixing a bug, modifying behavior, adding missing feature), the given package (size, complexity, maturity, developer responsiveness), something else or there are no general rules and one should decide on a case-by-case basis ?

  • Get Mechanize to handle cookies from an arbitrary POST (to log into a website programmatically)

    - by Horace Loeb
I want to log into https://www.t-mobile.com/ programmatically. My first idea was to use Mechanize to submit the login form: However, it turns out that this isn't even a real form. Instead, when you click "Log in" some javascript grabs the values of the fields, creates a new form dynamically, and submits it. "Log in" button HTML: <button onclick="handleLogin(); return false;" class="btnBlue" id="myTMobile-login"><span>Log in</span></button> The handleLogin() function: function handleLogin() { if (ValidateMsisdnPassword()) { // client-side form validation logic var a = document.createElement("FORM"); a.name = "form1"; a.method = "POST"; a.action = mytmoUrl; // defined elsewhere as https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/LoginController.aspx var c = document.createElement("INPUT"); c.type = "HIDDEN"; c.value = document.getElementById("myTMobile-phone").value; // the value of the phone number input field c.name = "txtMSISDN"; a.appendChild(c); var b = document.createElement("INPUT"); b.type = "HIDDEN"; b.value = document.getElementById("myTMobile-password").value; // the value of the password input field b.name = "txtPassword"; a.appendChild(b); document.body.appendChild(a); a.submit(); return true } else { return false } } I could simulate this form submission by POSTing the form data to https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/LoginController.aspx with Net::HTTP#post_form, but I don't know how to get the resultant cookie into Mechanize so I can continue to scrape the UI available when I'm logged in. Any ideas?

  • Bubble Breaker Game Solver better than greedy?

    - by Gregory
For a mental exercise I decided to try and solve the bubble breaker game found on many cell phones as well as an example here:Bubble Break Game The random (N,M,C) board consists N rows x M columns with C colors The goal is to get the highest score by picking the sequence of bubble groups that ultimately leads to the highest score A bubble group is 2 or more bubbles of the same color that are adjacent to each other in either x or y direction. Diagonals do not count When a group is picked, the bubbles disappear, any holes are filled with bubbles from above first, ie shift down, then any holes are filled by shifting right A bubble group score = n * (n - 1) where n is the number of bubbles in the bubble group The first algorithm is a simple exhaustive recursive algorithm which explores going through the board row by row and column by column picking bubble groups. Once the bubble group is picked, we create a new board and try to solve that board, recursively descending down Some of the ideas I am using include normalized memoization. Once a board is solved we store the board and the best score in a memoization table. I create a prototype in python which shows a (2,15,5) board takes 8859 boards to solve in about 3 seconds. A (3,15,5) board takes 12,384,726 boards in 50 minutes on a server. The solver rate is ~3k-4k boards/sec and gradually decreases as the memoization search takes longer. Memoization table grows to 5,692,482 boards, and hits 6,713,566 times. What other approaches could yield high scores besides the exhaustive search? I don't seen any obvious way to divide and conquer. But trending towards larger and larger bubbles groups seems to be one approach Thanks to David Locke for posting the paper link which talks above a window solver which uses a constant-depth lookahead heuristic.

  • Cascading Deletes in SQL Sever 2008 not working.

    - by Vaccano
I have the following table setup. Bag | +-> BagID (Guid) +-> BagNumber (Int) BagCommentRelation | +-> BagID (Int) +-> CommentID (Guid) BagComment | +-> CommentID (Guid) +-> Text (varchar(200)) BagCommentRelation has Foreign Keys to Bag and BagComment. So, I turned on cascading deletes for both those Foreign Keys, but when I delete a bag, it does not delete the Comment row. Do need to break out a trigger for this? Or am I missing something? (I am using SQL Server 2008) Note: Posting requested SQL. This is the defintion of the BagCommentRelation table. (I had the type of the bagID wrong (I thought it was a guid but it is an int).) CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Bag_CommentRelation]( [Id] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [BagId] [int] NOT NULL, [Sequence] [int] NOT NULL, [CommentId] [int] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Bag_CommentRelation] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [BagId] ASC, [Sequence] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] GO ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Bag_CommentRelation] WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_Bag_CommentRelation_Bag] FOREIGN KEY([BagId]) REFERENCES [dbo].[Bag] ([Id]) ON DELETE CASCADE GO ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Bag_CommentRelation] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_Bag_CommentRelation_Bag] GO ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Bag_CommentRelation] WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_Bag_CommentRelation_Comment] FOREIGN KEY([CommentId]) REFERENCES [dbo].[Comment] ([CommentId]) ON DELETE CASCADE GO ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Bag_CommentRelation] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_Bag_CommentRelation_Comment] GO The row in this table deletes but the row in the comment table does not.

  • PHP CURL Google Calendar using Private URL

    - by MooCow
I'm trying to get an array of events from Google Calendar using the Private URL. I read the Google API document but I want to try doing this without using the ZEND library since I have no idea what the eventual server file structure is and avoid having other people edit the codes. I also did a search before posting and ran into the same condition where PHP CURL_EXEC returns false with the URL but I get a JSON file if the URL is open using a web browser. Since I'm using the Private URL, do I really need to authenticate against the Google server using ZEND? I'm trying to have PHP clean up the array before encoding it for Flash. $URL = <string of the private URL from Google Calendar> $ch = curl_init($URL); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $data = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); $result = json_decode($data); print '<pre>'.var_export($data,1).'</pre>'; Screen output >>> false

  • Problem with javascript onclick function string

    - by StealthRT
Hey all, i have been trying for a few minutes on this problem and i can not seem to figure out how to correct it. I tend to have the hardest time doing stuff like this when it involves more than one varable within the function. Here is the code: var tempString = "thePrompt('Are you sure you wish to delete this?', 'theDel('" + IDnum + "', '" + theTitle + "', \'" + temperDay + "\', \'" + temperMonth + "\', \'" + temperYear + "\', \'" + DDiff + "\')"; html += "<div id='theTable" + IDnum + "' class='fc-event fc-event-hori fc-corner-left fc-corner-right' style='position:absolute; margin-top: 15px; z-index:8;left:"+left+"px'><div id='apDEL' style='position:relative;width:0px;height:0px;z-index:1000; top:-13px; left:2px; float:left;'><img src='img/xCal.png' width='15' height='15' alt='' border='0' onclick=\"" + tempString + "\" /></div>" + (ETC ETC...) The error i keep getting is this: Error: missing ) after argument list Line: 1, Column: 68 Source Code: thePrompt('Are you sure you wish to delete this posting?', 'theDel('105', '50 points for visiting us today!!!!', '13', '3', '2010', '2') And its pointing to the '105'. As always, any help would be wonderful! :o) David

  • wait for CLLocationManager to finish before tweeting

    - by user295944
    I want to wait for latitude.text and longtitude.text to be filled in before sending a tweet, this code works fine, but I would rather not put the tweeting part in locationManager because I also want to sometimes update the current location without sending a tweet. How can I make sure the txt gets filled in before sending the tweet without doing this? - (IBAction)update { latitude.text =@""; longitude.text =@""; locmanager = [[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; [locmanager setDelegate:self]; [locmanager setDesiredAccuracy:kCLLocationAccuracyBest]; [locmanager startUpdatingLocation]; } - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { CLLocationCoordinate2D location = [newLocation coordinate]; latitude.text = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%f", location.latitude]; longitude.text = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%f", location.longitude]; TwitterRequest * t = [[TwitterRequest alloc] init]; t.username = @"****"; t.password = @"****"; [twitterMessageText resignFirstResponder]; loadingActionSheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"Posting To Twitter..." delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:nil destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:nil]; [loadingActionSheet showInView:self.view]; [t statuses_update:twitterMessageText.text andLat:latitude.text andLong:longitude.text delegate:self requestSelector:@selector(status_updateCallback:)]; twitterMessageText.text=@""; }

  • Http Requests POST vs GET

    - by behrk2
Hi everyone, I am using a lot of HTTP Requests in an application that I am writing which uses OAuth. Currently, I am sending my GET and POST requests the same way: HttpConnection connection = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url + connectionParameters); connection.setRequestMethod(method); connection.setRequestProperty("WWW-Authenticate", "OAuth realm=api.netflix.com"); int responseCode = connection.getResponseCode(); And this is working fine. I am successfully POSTing and GETing. However, I am worried that I am not doing POST the right way. Do I need to include in the above code the following if-statement? if (method.equals("POST") && postData != null) { connection.setRequestProperty("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Length", Integer .toString(postData.length)); OutputStream requestOutput = connection.openOutputStream(); requestOutput.write(postData); requestOutput.close(); } If so, why? What's the difference? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

  • Analyzing data from same tables in diferent db instances.

    - by Oscar Reyes
Short version: How can I map two columns from table A and B if they both have a common identifier which in turn may have two values in column C Lets say: A --- 1 , 2 B --- ? , 3 C ----- 45, 2 45, 3 Using table C I know that id 2 and 3 belong to the same item ( 45 ) and thus "?" in table B should be 1. What query could do something like that? EDIT Long version ommited. It was really boring/confusing EDIT I'm posting some output here. From this query: select distinct( rolein) , activityin from taskperformance@dm_prod where activityin in ( select activityin from activities@dm_prod where activityid in ( select activityid from activities@dm_prod where activityin in ( select distinct( activityin ) from taskperformance where rolein = 0 ) ) ) I have the following parts: select distinct( activityin ) from taskperformance where rolein = 0 Output: http://question1337216.pastebin.com/f5039557 select activityin from activities@dm_prod where activityid in ( select activityid from activities@dm_prod where activityin in ( select distinct( activityin ) from taskperformance where rolein = 0 ) ) Output: http://question1337216.pastebin.com/f6cef9393 And finally: select distinct( rolein) , activityin from taskperformance@dm_prod where activityin in ( select activityin from activities@dm_prod where activityid in ( select activityid from activities@dm_prod where activityin in ( select distinct( activityin ) from taskperformance where rolein = 0 ) ) ) Output: http://question1337216.pastebin.com/f346057bd Take for instace activityin 335 from first query ( from taskperformance B) . It is present in actvities from A. But is not in taskperformace in A ( but a the related activities: 92, 208, 335, 595 ) Are present in the result. The corresponding role in is: 1

  • Python interface to PayPal - urllib.urlencode non-ASCII characters failing

    - by krys
I am trying to implement PayPal IPN functionality. The basic protocol is as such: The client is redirected from my site to PayPal's site to complete payment. He logs into his account, authorizes payment. PayPal calls a page on my server passing in details as POST. Details include a person's name, address, and payment info etc. I need to call a URL on PayPal's site internally from my processing page passing back all the params that were passed in abovem and an additional one called 'cmd' with a value of '_notify-validate'. When I try to urllib.urlencode the params which PayPal has sent to me, I get a: While calling send_response_to_paypal. Traceback (most recent call last): File "<snip>/account/paypal/views.py", line 108, in process_paypal_ipn verify_result = send_response_to_paypal(params) File "<snip>/account/paypal/views.py", line 41, in send_response_to_paypal params = urllib.urlencode(params) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/urllib.py", line 1261, in urlencode v = quote_plus(str(v)) UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\ufffd' in position 9: ordinal not in range(128) I understand that urlencode does ASCII encoding, and in certain cases, a user's contact info can contain non-ASCII characters. This is understandable. My question is, how do I encode non-ASCII characters for POSTing to a URL using urllib2.urlopen(req) (or other method) Details: I read the params in PayPal's original request as follows (the GET is for testing): def read_ipn_params(request): if request.POST: params= request.POST.copy() if "ipn_auth" in request.GET: params["ipn_auth"]=request.GET["ipn_auth"] return params else: return request.GET.copy() The code I use for sending back the request to PayPal from the processing page is: def send_response_to_paypal(params): params['cmd']='_notify-validate' params = urllib.urlencode(params) req = urllib2.Request(PAYPAL_API_WEBSITE, params) req.add_header("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded") response = urllib2.urlopen(req) status = response.read() if not status == "VERIFIED": logging.warn("PayPal cannot verify IPN responses: " + status) return False return True Obviously, the problem only arises if someone's name or address or other field used for the PayPal payment does not fall into the ASCII range.

  • appengine local datastore integration testing with spring

I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)
