  • More SQL Smells

    - by Nick Harrison
    Let's continue exploring some of the SQL Smells from Phil's list. He has been putting together. Datatype mis-matches in predicates that rely on implicit conversion.(Plamen Ratchev) This is a great example poking holes in the whole theory of "If it works it's not broken" Queries will this probably will generally work and give the correct response. In fact, without careful analysis, you probably may be completely oblivious that there is even a problem. This subtle little problem will needlessly complicate queries and slow them down regardless of the indexes applied. Consider this example: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Page](     [PageId] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,     [Title] [varchar](75) NOT NULL,     [Sequence] [int] NOT NULL,     [ThemeId] [int] NOT NULL,     [CustomCss] [text] NOT NULL,     [CustomScript] [text] NOT NULL,     [PageGroupId] [int] NOT NULL;  CREATE PROCEDURE PageSelectBySequence ( @sequenceMin smallint , @sequenceMax smallint ) AS BEGIN SELECT [PageId] , [Title] , [Sequence] , [ThemeId] , [CustomCss] , [CustomScript] , [PageGroupId] FROM [CMS].[dbo].[Page] WHERE Sequence BETWEEN @sequenceMin AND @SequenceMax END  Note that the Sequence column is defined as int while the sequence parameter is defined as a small int. The problem is that the database may have to do a lot of type conversions to evaluate the query. In some cases, this may even negate the indexes that you have in place. Using Correlated subqueries instead of a join   (Dave_Levy/ Plamen Ratchev) There are two main problems here. The first is a little subjective, since this is a non-standard way of expressing the query, it is harder to understand. The other problem is much more objective and potentially problematic. You are taking much of the control away from the optimizer. Written properly, such a query may well out perform a corresponding query written with traditional joins. More likely than not, performance will degrade. Whenever you assume that you know better than the optimizer, you will most likely be wrong. This is the fundmental problem with any hint. Consider a query like this:  SELECT Page.Title , Page.Sequence , Page.ThemeId , Page.CustomCss , Page.CustomScript , PageEffectParams.Name , PageEffectParams.Value , ( SELECT EffectName FROM dbo.Effect WHERE EffectId = dbo.PageEffects.EffectId ) AS EffectName FROM Page INNER JOIN PageEffect ON Page.PageId = PageEffects.PageId INNER JOIN PageEffectParam ON PageEffects.PageEffectId = PageEffectParams.PageEffectId  This can and should be written as:  SELECT Page.Title , Page.Sequence , Page.ThemeId , Page.CustomCss , Page.CustomScript , PageEffectParams.Name , PageEffectParams.Value , EffectName FROM Page INNER JOIN PageEffect ON Page.PageId = PageEffects.PageId INNER JOIN PageEffectParam ON PageEffects.PageEffectId = PageEffectParams.PageEffectId INNER JOIN dbo.Effect ON dbo.Effects.EffectId = dbo.PageEffects.EffectId  The correlated query may just as easily show up in the where clause. It's not a good idea in the select clause or the where clause. Few or No comments. This one is a bit more complicated and controversial. All comments are not created equal. Some comments are helpful and need to be included. Other comments are not necessary and may indicate a problem. I tend to follow the rule of thumb that comments that explain why are good. Comments that explain how are bad. Many people may be shocked to hear the idea of a bad comment, but hear me out. If a comment is needed to explain what is going on or how it works, the logic is too complex and needs to be simplified. Comments that explain why are good. Comments may explain why the sql is needed are good. Comments that explain where the sql is used are good. Comments that explain how tables are related should not be needed if the sql is well written. If they are needed, you need to consider reworking the sql or simplify your data model. Use of functions in a WHERE clause. (Anil Das) Calling a function in the where clause will often negate the indexing strategy. The function will be called for every record considered. This will often a force a full table scan on the tables affected. Calling a function will not guarantee that there is a full table scan, but there is a good chance that it will. If you find that you often need to write queries using a particular function, you may need to add a column to the table that has the function already applied.

  • Metro: Creating an IndexedDbDataSource for WinJS

    - by Stephen.Walther
    The goal of this blog entry is to describe how you can create custom data sources which you can use with the controls in the WinJS library. In particular, I explain how you can create an IndexedDbDataSource which you can use to store and retrieve data from an IndexedDB database. If you want to skip ahead, and ignore all of the fascinating content in-between, I’ve included the complete code for the IndexedDbDataSource at the very bottom of this blog entry. What is IndexedDB? IndexedDB is a database in the browser. You can use the IndexedDB API with all modern browsers including Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer 10. And, of course, you can use IndexedDB with Metro style apps written with JavaScript. If you need to persist data in a Metro style app written with JavaScript then IndexedDB is a good option. Each Metro app can only interact with its own IndexedDB databases. And, IndexedDB provides you with transactions, indices, and cursors – the elements of any modern database. An IndexedDB database might be different than the type of database that you normally use. An IndexedDB database is an object-oriented database and not a relational database. Instead of storing data in tables, you store data in object stores. You store JavaScript objects in an IndexedDB object store. You create new IndexedDB object stores by handling the upgradeneeded event when you attempt to open a connection to an IndexedDB database. For example, here’s how you would both open a connection to an existing database named TasksDB and create the TasksDB database when it does not already exist: var reqOpen = window.indexedDB.open(“TasksDB”, 2); reqOpen.onupgradeneeded = function (evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement: true }); }; reqOpen.onsuccess = function () { var db = reqOpen.result; // Do something with db }; When you call window.indexedDB.open(), and the database does not already exist, then the upgradeneeded event is raised. In the code above, the upgradeneeded handler creates a new object store named tasks. The new object store has an auto-increment column named id which acts as the primary key column. If the database already exists with the right version, and you call window.indexedDB.open(), then the success event is raised. At that point, you have an open connection to the existing database and you can start doing something with the database. You use asynchronous methods to interact with an IndexedDB database. For example, the following code illustrates how you would add a new object to the tasks object store: var transaction = db.transaction(“tasks”, “readwrite”); var reqAdd = transaction.objectStore(“tasks”).add({ name: “Feed the dog” }); reqAdd.onsuccess = function() { // Tasks added successfully }; The code above creates a new database transaction, adds a new task to the tasks object store, and handles the success event. If the new task gets added successfully then the success event is raised. Creating a WinJS IndexedDbDataSource The most powerful control in the WinJS library is the ListView control. This is the control that you use to display a collection of items. If you want to display data with a ListView control, you need to bind the control to a data source. The WinJS library includes two objects which you can use as a data source: the List object and the StorageDataSource object. The List object enables you to represent a JavaScript array as a data source and the StorageDataSource enables you to represent the file system as a data source. If you want to bind an IndexedDB database to a ListView then you have a choice. You can either dump the items from the IndexedDB database into a List object or you can create a custom data source. I explored the first approach in a previous blog entry. In this blog entry, I explain how you can create a custom IndexedDB data source. Implementing the IListDataSource Interface You create a custom data source by implementing the IListDataSource interface. This interface contains the contract for the methods which the ListView needs to interact with a data source. The easiest way to implement the IListDataSource interface is to derive a new object from the base VirtualizedDataSource object. The VirtualizedDataSource object requires a data adapter which implements the IListDataAdapter interface. Yes, because of the number of objects involved, this is a little confusing. Your code ends up looking something like this: var IndexedDbDataSource = WinJS.Class.derive( WinJS.UI.VirtualizedDataSource, function (dbName, dbVersion, objectStoreName, upgrade, error) { this._adapter = new IndexedDbDataAdapter(dbName, dbVersion, objectStoreName, upgrade, error); this._baseDataSourceConstructor(this._adapter); }, { nuke: function () { this._adapter.nuke(); }, remove: function (key) { this._adapter.removeInternal(key); } } ); The code above is used to create a new class named IndexedDbDataSource which derives from the base VirtualizedDataSource class. In the constructor for the new class, the base class _baseDataSourceConstructor() method is called. A data adapter is passed to the _baseDataSourceConstructor() method. The code above creates a new method exposed by the IndexedDbDataSource named nuke(). The nuke() method deletes all of the objects from an object store. The code above also overrides a method named remove(). Our derived remove() method accepts any type of key and removes the matching item from the object store. Almost all of the work of creating a custom data source goes into building the data adapter class. The data adapter class implements the IListDataAdapter interface which contains the following methods: · change() · getCount() · insertAfter() · insertAtEnd() · insertAtStart() · insertBefore() · itemsFromDescription() · itemsFromEnd() · itemsFromIndex() · itemsFromKey() · itemsFromStart() · itemSignature() · moveAfter() · moveBefore() · moveToEnd() · moveToStart() · remove() · setNotificationHandler() · compareByIdentity Fortunately, you are not required to implement all of these methods. You only need to implement the methods that you actually need. In the case of the IndexedDbDataSource, I implemented the getCount(), itemsFromIndex(), insertAtEnd(), and remove() methods. If you are creating a read-only data source then you really only need to implement the getCount() and itemsFromIndex() methods. Implementing the getCount() Method The getCount() method returns the total number of items from the data source. So, if you are storing 10,000 items in an object store then this method would return the value 10,000. Here’s how I implemented the getCount() method: getCount: function () { var that = this; return new WinJS.Promise(function (complete, error) { that._getObjectStore().then(function (store) { var reqCount = store.count(); reqCount.onerror = that._error; reqCount.onsuccess = function (evt) { complete(evt.target.result); }; }); }); } The first thing that you should notice is that the getCount() method returns a WinJS promise. This is a requirement. The getCount() method is asynchronous which is a good thing because all of the IndexedDB methods (at least the methods implemented in current browsers) are also asynchronous. The code above retrieves an object store and then uses the IndexedDB count() method to get a count of the items in the object store. The value is returned from the promise by calling complete(). Implementing the itemsFromIndex method When a ListView displays its items, it calls the itemsFromIndex() method. By default, it calls this method multiple times to get different ranges of items. Three parameters are passed to the itemsFromIndex() method: the requestIndex, countBefore, and countAfter parameters. The requestIndex indicates the index of the item from the database to show. The countBefore and countAfter parameters represent hints. These are integer values which represent the number of items before and after the requestIndex to retrieve. Again, these are only hints and you can return as many items before and after the request index as you please. Here’s how I implemented the itemsFromIndex method: itemsFromIndex: function (requestIndex, countBefore, countAfter) { var that = this; return new WinJS.Promise(function (complete, error) { that.getCount().then(function (count) { if (requestIndex >= count) { return WinJS.Promise.wrapError(new WinJS.ErrorFromName(WinJS.UI.FetchError.doesNotExist)); } var startIndex = Math.max(0, requestIndex - countBefore); var endIndex = Math.min(count, requestIndex + countAfter + 1); that._getObjectStore().then(function (store) { var index = 0; var items = []; var req = store.openCursor(); req.onerror = that._error; req.onsuccess = function (evt) { var cursor = evt.target.result; if (index < startIndex) { index = startIndex; cursor.advance(startIndex); return; } if (cursor && index < endIndex) { index++; items.push({ key: cursor.value[store.keyPath].toString(), data: cursor.value }); cursor.continue(); return; } results = { items: items, offset: requestIndex - startIndex, totalCount: count }; complete(results); }; }); }); }); } In the code above, a cursor is used to iterate through the objects in an object store. You fetch the next item in the cursor by calling either the cursor.continue() or cursor.advance() method. The continue() method moves forward by one object and the advance() method moves forward a specified number of objects. Each time you call continue() or advance(), the success event is raised again. If the cursor is null then you know that you have reached the end of the cursor and you can return the results. Some things to be careful about here. First, the return value from the itemsFromIndex() method must implement the IFetchResult interface. In particular, you must return an object which has an items, offset, and totalCount property. Second, each item in the items array must implement the IListItem interface. Each item should have a key and a data property. Implementing the insertAtEnd() Method When creating the IndexedDbDataSource, I wanted to go beyond creating a simple read-only data source and support inserting and deleting objects. If you want to support adding new items with your data source then you need to implement the insertAtEnd() method. Here’s how I implemented the insertAtEnd() method for the IndexedDbDataSource: insertAtEnd:function(unused, data) { var that = this; return new WinJS.Promise(function (complete, error) { that._getObjectStore("readwrite").done(function(store) { var reqAdd = store.add(data); reqAdd.onerror = that._error; reqAdd.onsuccess = function (evt) { var reqGet = store.get(evt.target.result); reqGet.onerror = that._error; reqGet.onsuccess = function (evt) { var newItem = { key:evt.target.result[store.keyPath].toString(), data:evt.target.result } complete(newItem); }; }; }); }); } When implementing the insertAtEnd() method, you need to be careful to return an object which implements the IItem interface. In particular, you should return an object that has a key and a data property. The key must be a string and it uniquely represents the new item added to the data source. The value of the data property represents the new item itself. Implementing the remove() Method Finally, you use the remove() method to remove an item from the data source. You call the remove() method with the key of the item which you want to remove. Implementing the remove() method in the case of the IndexedDbDataSource was a little tricky. The problem is that an IndexedDB object store uses an integer key and the VirtualizedDataSource requires a string key. For that reason, I needed to override the remove() method in the derived IndexedDbDataSource class like this: var IndexedDbDataSource = WinJS.Class.derive( WinJS.UI.VirtualizedDataSource, function (dbName, dbVersion, objectStoreName, upgrade, error) { this._adapter = new IndexedDbDataAdapter(dbName, dbVersion, objectStoreName, upgrade, error); this._baseDataSourceConstructor(this._adapter); }, { nuke: function () { this._adapter.nuke(); }, remove: function (key) { this._adapter.removeInternal(key); } } ); When you call remove(), you end up calling a method of the IndexedDbDataAdapter named removeInternal() . Here’s what the removeInternal() method looks like: setNotificationHandler: function (notificationHandler) { this._notificationHandler = notificationHandler; }, removeInternal: function(key) { var that = this; return new WinJS.Promise(function (complete, error) { that._getObjectStore("readwrite").done(function (store) { var reqDelete = store.delete (key); reqDelete.onerror = that._error; reqDelete.onsuccess = function (evt) { that._notificationHandler.removed(key.toString()); complete(); }; }); }); } The removeInternal() method calls the IndexedDB delete() method to delete an item from the object store. If the item is deleted successfully then the _notificationHandler.remove() method is called. Because we are not implementing the standard IListDataAdapter remove() method, we need to notify the data source (and the ListView control bound to the data source) that an item has been removed. The way that you notify the data source is by calling the _notificationHandler.remove() method. Notice that we get the _notificationHandler in the code above by implementing another method in the IListDataAdapter interface: the setNotificationHandler() method. You can raise the following types of notifications using the _notificationHandler: · beginNotifications() · changed() · endNotifications() · inserted() · invalidateAll() · moved() · removed() · reload() These methods are all part of the IListDataNotificationHandler interface in the WinJS library. Implementing the nuke() Method I wanted to implement a method which would remove all of the items from an object store. Therefore, I created a method named nuke() which calls the IndexedDB clear() method: nuke: function () { var that = this; return new WinJS.Promise(function (complete, error) { that._getObjectStore("readwrite").done(function (store) { var reqClear = store.clear(); reqClear.onerror = that._error; reqClear.onsuccess = function (evt) { that._notificationHandler.reload(); complete(); }; }); }); } Notice that the nuke() method calls the _notificationHandler.reload() method to notify the ListView to reload all of the items from its data source. Because we are implementing a custom method here, we need to use the _notificationHandler to send an update. Using the IndexedDbDataSource To illustrate how you can use the IndexedDbDataSource, I created a simple task list app. You can add new tasks, delete existing tasks, and nuke all of the tasks. You delete an item by selecting an item (swipe or right-click) and clicking the Delete button. Here’s the HTML page which contains the ListView, the form for adding new tasks, and the buttons for deleting and nuking tasks: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>DataSources</title> <!-- WinJS references --> <link href="//Microsoft.WinJS.1.0.RC/css/ui-dark.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.1.0.RC/js/base.js"></script> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.1.0.RC/js/ui.js"></script> <!-- DataSources references --> <link href="indexedDb.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="indexedDbDataSource.js"></script> <script src="indexedDb.js"></script> </head> <body> <div id="tmplTask" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="taskItem"> Id: <span data-win-bind="innerText:id"></span> <br /><br /> Name: <span data-win-bind="innerText:name"></span> </div> </div> <div id="lvTasks" data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemTemplate: select('#tmplTask'), selectionMode: 'single' }"></div> <form id="frmAdd"> <fieldset> <legend>Add Task</legend> <label>New Task</label> <input id="inputTaskName" required /> <button>Add</button> </fieldset> </form> <button id="btnNuke">Nuke</button> <button id="btnDelete">Delete</button> </body> </html> And here is the JavaScript code for the TaskList app: /// <reference path="//Microsoft.WinJS.1.0.RC/js/base.js" /> /// <reference path="//Microsoft.WinJS.1.0.RC/js/ui.js" /> function init() { WinJS.UI.processAll().done(function () { var lvTasks = document.getElementById("lvTasks").winControl; // Bind the ListView to its data source var tasksDataSource = new DataSources.IndexedDbDataSource("TasksDB", 1, "tasks", upgrade); lvTasks.itemDataSource = tasksDataSource; // Wire-up Add, Delete, Nuke buttons document.getElementById("frmAdd").addEventListener("submit", function (evt) { evt.preventDefault(); tasksDataSource.beginEdits(); tasksDataSource.insertAtEnd(null, { name: document.getElementById("inputTaskName").value }).done(function (newItem) { tasksDataSource.endEdits(); document.getElementById("frmAdd").reset(); lvTasks.ensureVisible(newItem.index); }); }); document.getElementById("btnDelete").addEventListener("click", function () { if (lvTasks.selection.count() == 1) { lvTasks.selection.getItems().done(function (items) { tasksDataSource.remove(items[0].data.id); }); } }); document.getElementById("btnNuke").addEventListener("click", function () { tasksDataSource.nuke(); }); // This method is called to initialize the IndexedDb database function upgrade(evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement: true }); } }); } document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", init); The IndexedDbDataSource is created and bound to the ListView control with the following two lines of code: var tasksDataSource = new DataSources.IndexedDbDataSource("TasksDB", 1, "tasks", upgrade); lvTasks.itemDataSource = tasksDataSource; The IndexedDbDataSource is created with four parameters: the name of the database to create, the version of the database to create, the name of the object store to create, and a function which contains code to initialize the new database. The upgrade function creates a new object store named tasks with an auto-increment property named id: function upgrade(evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement: true }); } The Complete Code for the IndexedDbDataSource Here’s the complete code for the IndexedDbDataSource: (function () { /************************************************ * The IndexedDBDataAdapter enables you to work * with a HTML5 IndexedDB database. *************************************************/ var IndexedDbDataAdapter = WinJS.Class.define( function (dbName, dbVersion, objectStoreName, upgrade, error) { this._dbName = dbName; } var startIndex = Math.max(0, requestIndex - countBefore); var endIndex = Math.min(count, requestIndex + countAfter + 1); that._getObjectStore().then(function (store) { var index = 0; var items = []; this._baseDataSourceConstructor(this._adapter); }, { nuke: function () { this._adapter.nuke(); }, remove: function (key) { this._adapter.removeInternal(key); } } ); WinJS.Namespace.define("DataSources", { IndexedDbDataSource: IndexedDbDataSource }); })(); Summary In this blog post, I provided an overview of how you can create a new data source which you can use with the WinJS library. I described how you can create an IndexedDbDataSource which you can use to bind a ListView control to an IndexedDB database. While describing how you can create a custom data source, I explained how you can implement the IListDataAdapter interface. You also learned how to raise notifications — such as a removed or invalidateAll notification — by taking advantage of the methods of the IListDataNotificationHandler interface.

  • setting up bind to work with nsupdate (SERVFAIL)

    - by funny_ha_ha
    I'm trying to update my DNS-Server dynamically using nsupdate. Prerequisite I'm using Debian 6 on my DNS-Server and Debian 4 on my client. I created a public/private key pair using: dnssec-keygen -C -a HMAC-MD5 -b 512 -n USER sub.example.com. I then edited my named.conf.local to contain my public key and the new zone i wish to update. I also created a textfile (update) on this server which contained the update information (note: I tried toying around with this stuff too. no success): server example.com zone sub.example.com update add sub.example.com. 86400 A 10.10.10.1 show send Now I'm trying to update the zone using: nsupdate -k key.private -v update The Problem Said command gives me the following output: Outgoing update query: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: UPDATE, status: NOERROR, id: 0 ;; flags: ; ZONE: 0, PREREQ: 0, UPDATE: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; ZONE SECTION: ;sub.example.com. • WCF timeouts are a nightmare

    - by Greg
    We have a bunch of WCF services that work almost all of the time, using various bindings, ports, max sizes, etc. The super-frustrating thing about WCF is that when it (rarely) fails, we are powerless to find out why it failed. Sometimes you will get a message that looks like this: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was '01:00:00'. --- System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. The problem is that the local socket timeout it's giving you is merely an attempt to be convenient. It may or may not be the cause of the problem. But OK, sometimes networks have issues. No big deal. We can retry or something. But here's the huge problem. On top of failing to tell you which precisely which timeout (if any) resulted in the failure ("your server-side receive timeout was exceeded," or something, would be helpful), WCF seems to have two types of timeouts. Timeout Type #1) A timeout, that, if increased, would increase the chance of your operation's success. So, the pertinent timeout is an hour, you are uploading a huge file that will take an hour and twenty minutes. It fails. You increase the timeout, it succeeds. I have no no problem with this type of timeout. Timeout Type #2) A timeout which merely defines how long you have to wait for the service to actually fail and give you an error, but modifying the value of this timeout has no impact on the chance of success. Basically, something happens during the first second of the service request which mucks things up. It will never recover. WCF doesn't magically retry the network connection for you. Fine, sometimes establishing a network connection doesn't go well. But, if your timeout is 2 hours, you have to wait 2 whole hours with no chance of it ever working before it finally acknowledges that it didn't work and gives you the error. But the error you see in both cases looks the same. With timeout Type #2, it still looks like you are running into a timeout. But, you could increase all of your timeouts to 4 years, and all it would do is make it take 4 years to get an error message. I know that Type #2 exists because I can do an operation that is known to complete in less than a minute when successful, and have it take 2 hours to fail. But, if I kill it and retry, it succeeds quickly. (If you are wondering why there might be a 2 hour timeout on an operation that takes less than a minute, there are times I run the operation with a much larger file and it could take over an hour.) So, to combat the problem with Type #2, you'd want your timeout to be really quick so you immediately know if there is a problem. Then you can retry. But the insurmountable problem is that because I don't know which timeouts are the cause of failure, I don't know what timeouts are Type #1 and which ones are Type #2. There may be one timeout (let's say the client-side send timeout) that acts like Type #1 in some cases and Type #2 in others. I have no idea, and I have no way of finding out. Does anyone know how to track down Type #2 timeouts so I can set them to low values without having to shorten actual (read: Type #1) timeouts and lower the chance of success? Thank you.

  • Synapse and string problems with HTTPSend in Delphi 2010

    - by Mick
    I have been trying to get to the bottom of this problem off and on for the past 2 days and I'm really stuck. Hopefully some smart folks can help me out. The issue is that I have a function that I call in a thread that downloads a file (using Synapse libraries) from a website that is passed to it. However, I've found that every once in a while there are sites where it will not pull down a file, but wget or Firefox/IE will download it without issue. Digging into it, I've found some curious things. Here is the relevant code: uses //[..] HTTPSend, blcksock; //[..] type TMyThread = class(TThread) protected procedure Execute; override; private { Private declarations } fTheUrl: string; procedure GetFile(const TheUrl: string); public property thrd_TheUrl: string read fTheUrl write fTheUrl; end; implementation [..] procedure TMyThread.GetFile(const TheUrl: string); var HTTP: THTTPSend; success: boolean; sLocalUrl: string; IsSame : boolean; begin HTTP := THTTPSend.Create; try HTTP.UserAgent := 'Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)'; HTTP.ProxyHost := 'MYPROXY.COM'; HTTP.ProxyPort := '80'; sLocalUrl := 'http://web.archive.org/web/20071212205017/energizer.com/usbcharger/download/UsbCharger_setup_V1_1_1.exe'; IsSame := SameText(sLocalUrl, sTheUrl); //this equals True when I debug /// /// /// THIS IS WHERE THE ISSUE BEGINS /// I will comment out 1 of the following when debugging /// HTTP.HTTPMethod('GET', sLocalUrl); // ----this works and WILL download the file HTTP.HTTPMethod('GET', sTheUrl); // --- this always fails, and HTTP.ResultString contains "Not Found" success := SysUtils.UpperCase(HTTP.ResultString) = 'OK'; if HTTP.ResultCode > 0 then success := True; //this is here just to keep the value around while debugging finally HTTP.Free; end; end; procedure TMyThread.Execute begin //fTheURL contains this value: http://web.archive.org/web/20071212205017/energizer.com/usbcharger/download/UsbCharger_setup_V1_1_1.exe GetFile(fTheUrl); end; The problem is that when I assign a local variable to the function and give it the URL directly, everything works. However, when passing the variable into the function, it fails. Anyone have any ideas? HTTP.HTTPMethod('GET', sLocalUrl); // ----this works and WILL download the file HTTP.HTTPMethod('GET', sTheUrl); // --- this always fails, and HTTP.ResultString contains "Not Found" I'm using the latest version of Synapse from their SVN repository (version from 2 days ago). NOTE: The file I am attempting to download is known to have a virus, the program I am writing is meant to download malicious files for analysis. So, don't execute the file once you download it. However, I'm using this URL b/c this is the one I can reproduce the issue with.

  • How do I sign my certificate using the root certificate

    - by Asif Alam
    I am using certificate based authentication between my server and client. I have generated Root Certificate. My client at the time of installation will generate a new Certificate and use the Root Certificate to sign it. I need to use Windows API. Cannot use any windows tools like makecert. Till now I have been able to Install the Root certificate in store. Below code X509Certificate2 ^ certificate = gcnew X509Certificate2("C:\\rootcert.pfx","test123"); X509Store ^ store = gcnew X509Store( "teststore",StoreLocation::CurrentUser ); store->Open( OpenFlags::ReadWrite ); store->Add( certificate ); store->Close(); Then open the installed root certificate to get the context GetRootCertKeyInfo(){ HCERTSTORE hCertStore; PCCERT_CONTEXT pSignerCertContext=NULL; DWORD dwSize = NULL; CRYPT_KEY_PROV_INFO* pKeyInfo = NULL; DWORD dwKeySpec; if ( !( hCertStore = CertOpenStore(CERT_STORE_PROV_SYSTEM, 0, NULL, CERT_SYSTEM_STORE_CURRENT_USER,L"teststore"))) { _tprintf(_T("Error 0x%x\n"), GetLastError()); } pSignerCertContext = CertFindCertificateInStore(hCertStore,MY_ENCODING_TYPE,0,CERT_FIND_ANY,NULL,NULL); if(NULL == pSignerCertContext) { _tprintf(_T("Error 0x%x\n"), GetLastError()); } if(!(CertGetCertificateContextProperty( pSignerCertContext, CERT_KEY_PROV_INFO_PROP_ID, NULL, &dwSize))) { _tprintf(_T("Error 0x%x\n"), GetLastError()); } if(pKeyInfo) free(pKeyInfo); if(!(pKeyInfo = (CRYPT_KEY_PROV_INFO*)malloc(dwSize))) { _tprintf(_T("Error 0x%x\n"), GetLastError()); } if(!(CertGetCertificateContextProperty( pSignerCertContext, CERT_KEY_PROV_INFO_PROP_ID, pKeyInfo, &dwSize))) { _tprintf(_T("Error 0x%x\n"), GetLastError()); } return pKeyInfo; } Then finally created the certificate and signed with the pKeyInfo // Acquire key container if (!CryptAcquireContext(&hCryptProv, _T("trykeycon"), NULL, PROV_RSA_FULL, CRYPT_MACHINE_KEYSET)) { _tprintf(_T("Error 0x%x\n"), GetLastError()); // Try to create a new key container _tprintf(_T("CryptAcquireContext... I am unable to figure what I did is right or not.. Any help with be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Asif

  • Mac 10.6 Universal Binary scipy: cephes/specfun "_aswfa_" symbol not found

    - by Markus
    Hi folks, I can't get scipy to function in 32 bit mode when compiled as a i386/x86_64 universal binary, and executed on my 64 bit 10.6.2 MacPro1,1. My python setup With the help of this answer, I built a 32/64 bit intel universal binary of python 2.6.4 with the intention of using the arch command to select between the architectures. (I managed to make some universal binaries of a few libraries I wanted using lipo.) That all works. I then installed scipy according to the instructions on hyperjeff's article, only with more up-to-date numpy (1.4.0) and skipping the bit about moving numpy aside briefly during the installation of scipy. Now, everything except scipy seems to be working as far as I can tell, and I can indeed select between 32 and 64 bit mode using arch -i386 python and arch -x86_64 python. The error Scipy complains in 32 bit mode: $ arch -x86_64 python -c "import scipy.interpolate; print 'success'" success $ arch -i386 python -c "import scipy.interpolate; print 'success'" Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/interpolate/__init__.py", line 7, in <module> from interpolate import * File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/interpolate/interpolate.py", line 13, in <module> import scipy.special as spec File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/__init__.py", line 8, in <module> from basic import * File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/basic.py", line 8, in <module> from _cephes import * ImportError: dlopen(/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/_cephes.so, 2): Symbol not found: _aswfa_ Referenced from: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/_cephes.so Expected in: flat namespace in /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/_cephes.so Attempt at tracking down the problem It looks like scipy.interpolate imports something called _cephes, which looks for a symbol called _aswfa_ but can't find it in 32 bit mode. Browsing through scipy's source, I find an ASWFA subroutine in specfun.f. The only scipy product file with a similar name is specfun.so, but both that and _cephes.so appear to be universal binaries: $ cd /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/ $ file _cephes.so specfun.so _cephes.so: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures _cephes.so (for architecture i386): Mach-O bundle i386 _cephes.so (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit bundle x86_64 specfun.so: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures specfun.so (for architecture i386): Mach-O bundle i386 specfun.so (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit bundle x86_64 Ho hum. I'm stuck. Things I may try but haven't figured out how yet include compiling specfun.so myself manually, somehow. I would imagine that scipy isn't broken for all 32 bit machines, so I guess something is wrong with the way I've installed it, but I can't figure out what. I don't really expect a full answer given my fairly unique (?) setup, but if anyone has any clues that might point me in the right direction, they'd be greatly appreciated. (edit) More details to address questions: I'm using gfortran (GNU Fortran from GCC 4.2.1 Apple Inc. build 5646). Python 2.6.4 was installed more-or-less like so: cd /tmp curl -O http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.4/Python-2.6.4.tar.bz2 tar xf Python-2.6.4.tar.bz2 cd Python-2.6.4 # Now replace buggy pythonw.c file with one that supports the "arch" command: curl http://bugs.python.org/file14949/pythonw.c | sed s/2.7/2.6/ > Mac/Tools/pythonw.c ./configure --enable-framework=/Library/Frameworks --enable-universalsdk=/ --with-universal-archs=intel make -j4 sudo make frameworkinstall Scipy 0.7.1 was installed pretty much as described as here, but it boils down to a simple sudo python setup.py install. It would indeed appear that the symbol is undefined in the i386 architecture if you look at the _cephes library with nm, as suggested by David Cournapeau: $ nm -arch x86_64 /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/_cephes.so | grep _aswfa_ 00000000000d4950 T _aswfa_ 000000000011e4b0 d _oblate_aswfa_data 000000000011e510 d _oblate_aswfa_nocv_data (snip) $ nm -arch i386 /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/special/_cephes.so | grep _aswfa_ U _aswfa_ 0002e96c d _oblate_aswfa_data 0002e99c d _oblate_aswfa_nocv_data (snip) however, I can't yet explain its absence.

  • Functions registered with ExternalInterface.addCallback not available in Javascript

    - by Selene
    I'm working on a Flash game that needs to call some Javascript on the page and get data back from it. Calling Javascript from Flash works. Calling the Flash functions from Javascript (often) doesn't. I'm using the Gaia framework. What happens: The swf is loaded in with SWFObject There's a button in the Flash file. On click, it uses ExternalInterface.call() to call a Javascript function. This works. The Javascript function calls a Flash function that was exposed with ExternalInterface.addCallback(). Sometimes, the Javascript produces the following error: TypeError: myFlash.testCallback is not a function. When the error happens, it affects all functions registered with addCallback(). Gaia and some of its included libraries use addCallback(), and calling those functions from Javascript also produces the TypeError. Waiting a long time before pressing the button in Flash doesn't solve the error. Having Flash re-try addCallback() periodically doesn't solve the error When the error occurs, ExternalInterface.available = true and ExternalInterface.objectID contains the correct name for the Flash embed object. When the error occurs, document.getElementById('myflashcontent') correctly returns the Flash embed object. From my Page class: public class MyPage extends AbstractPage { // declarations of stage instances and class variables // other functions override public function transitionIn():void { send_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, callJS); exposeCallbacks(); super.transitionIn(); } private function exposeCallbacks():void { trace("exposeCallbacks()"); if (ExternalInterface.available) { trace("ExternalInterface.objectID: " + ExternalInterface.objectID); try { ExternalInterface.addCallback("testCallback", simpleTestCallback); trace("called ExternalInterface.addCallback"); } catch (error:SecurityError) { trace("A SecurityError occurred: " + error.message + "\n"); } catch (error:Error) { trace("An Error occurred: " + error.message + "\n"); } } else { trace("exposeCallbacks() - ExternalInterface not available"); } } private function simpleTestCallback(str:String):void { trace("simpleTestCallback(str=\"" + str + "\")"); } private function callJS(e:Event):void { if (ExternalInterface.available) { ExternalInterface.call("sendTest", "name", "url"); } else { trace("callJS() - ExternalInterface not available"); } } } My Javascript: function sendTest(text, url) { var myFlash = document.getElementById("myflashcontent"); var callbackStatus = ""; callbackStatus += '\nmyFlash[testCallback]: ' + myFlash['testCallback']; //console.log(callbackStatus); var errors = false; try { myFlash.testCallback("test string"); } catch (err) { alert("Error: " + err.toString()); error = true; } if (!error) { alert("Success"); } } var params = { quality: "high", scale: "noscale", wmode: "transparent", allowscriptaccess: "always", bgcolor: "#000000" }; var flashVars = { siteXML: "xml/site.xml" }; var attributes = { id: "myflashcontent", name: "myflashcontent" }; // load the flash movie. swfobject.embedSWF("http://myurl.com/main.swf?v2", "myflashcontent", "728", "676", "10.0.0", serverRoot + "expressInstall.swf", flashVars, params, attributes, function(returnObj) { console.log('Returned ' + returnObj.success); if (returnObj.success) { returnObj.ref.focus(); } });

  • Getting values from Dynamic elements.

    - by nCdy
    I'm adding some dynamic elements to my WebApp this way : (Language used is Nemerele (It has a simple C#-like syntax)) unless (GridView1.Rows.Count==0) { foreach(index with row = GridView1.Rows[index] in [0..GridView1.Rows.Count-1]) { row.Cells[0].Controls.Add ({ def TB = TextBox(); TB.EnableViewState = false; unless(row.Cells[0].Text == "&nbsp;") { TB.Text = row.Cells[0].Text; row.Cells[0].Text = ""; } TB.ID=TB.ClientID; TB.Width = 60; TB }); row.Cells[0].Controls.Add ({ def B = Button(); B.EnableViewState = false; B.Width = 80; B.Text = "?????????"; B.UseSubmitBehavior=false; // Makes no sense //B.OnClientClick="select(5);"; // HERE I CAN KNOW ABOUT TB.ID //B.Click+=EventHandler(fun(_,_) : void { }); // POST BACK KILL THAT ALL B }); } } This textboxes must make first field of GridView editable so ... but now I need to save a values. I can't do it on server side because any postback will Destroy all dynamic elements so I must do it without Post Back. So I try ... <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function CallPageMethod(methodName, onSuccess, onFail) { var args = ''; var l = arguments.length; if (l > 3) { for (var i = 3; i < l - 1; i += 2) { if (args.length != 0) args += ','; args += '"' + arguments[i] + '":"' + arguments[i + 1] + '"'; } } var loc = window.location.href; loc = (loc.substr(loc.length - 1, 1) == "/") ? loc + "Report.aspx" : loc; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: loc + "/" + methodName, data: "{" + args + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: onSuccess, fail: onFail }); } function select(index) { var id = $("#id" + index).html(); CallPageMethod("SelectBook", success, fail, "id",id); } function success(response) { alert(response.d); } function fail(response) { alert("&#1054;&#1096;&#1080;&#1073;&#1082;&#1072;."); } </script> So... here is a trouble string : var id = $("#id" + index).html(); I know what is ID here : TB.ID=TB.ClientID; (when I add it) but I have no idea how to send it on Web Form. If I can add something like this div : <div id="Result" onclick="select(<%= " TB.ID " %>);"> Click here. </div> from the code it will be really goal, but I can't add this element as from CodeBehind as a dynamic element. So how can I transfer TB.ID or TB.ClientID to some static div Or how can I add some clickable dynamic element without PostBack to not destroy all my dynamic elements. Thank you.

  • C# asp.net EF MVC postgresql error 23505: Duplicate key violates unique constraint

    - by user2721755
    EDIT: It was issue with database table - dropping and recreating table id column did the work. Problem solved. I'm trying to build web application, that is connected to postgresql database. Results are displaying in view with Kendo UI. When I'm trying to add new row (with Kendo UI 'Add new record' button), I get error 23505: 'Duplicate key violates unique constraint'. My guess is, that EF takes id to insert from the beginning, not the last one, because after 35 (it's number of rows in table) tries - and errors - adding works perfectly. Can someone help me to understand, what's wrong? • Any tool to make git build every commit to a branch in a seperate repository?

    - by Wayne
    A git tool that meets the specs below is needed. Does one already exists? If not, I will create a script and make it available on GitHub for others to use or contribute. Is there a completely different and better way to solve the need to build/test every commit to a branch in a git repository? Not just to the latest but each one back to a certain staring point. Background: Our development environment uses a separate continuous integration server which is wonderful. However, it is still necessary to do full builds locally on each developer's PC to make sure the commit won't "break the build" when pushed to the CI server. Unfortunately, with auto unit tests, those build force the developer to wait 10 or 15 minutes for a build every time. To solve this we have setup a "mirror" git repository on each developer PC. So we develop in the main repository but anytime a local full build is needed. We run a couple commands in a in the mirror repository to fetch, checkout the commit we want to build, and build. It's works extremely lovely so we can continue working in the main one with the build going in parallel. There's only one main concern now. We want to make sure every single commit builds and tests fine. But we often get busy and neglect to build several fresh commits. Then if it the build fails you have to do a bisect or manually figure build each interim commit to figure out which one broke. Requirements for this tool. The tool will look at another repo, origin by default, fetch and compare all commits that are in branches to 2 lists of commits. One list must hold successfully built commits and the other lists commits that failed. It identifies any commit or commits not yet in either list and begins to build them in a loop in the order that they were committed. It stops on the first one that fails. The tool appropriately adds each commit to either the successful or failed list after it as attempted to build each one. The tool will ignore any "legacy" commits which are prior to the oldest commit in the success list. This logic makes the starting point possible in the next point. Starting Point. The tool building a specific commit so that, if successful it gets added to the success list. If it is the earliest commit in the success list, it becomes the "starting point" so that none of the commits prior to that are examined for builds. Only linear tree support? Much like bisect, this tool works best on a commit tree which is, at least from it's starting point, linear without any merges. That is, it should be a tree which was built and updated entirely via rebase and fast forward commits. If it fails on one commit in a branch it will stop without building the rest that followed after that one. Instead if will just move on to another branch, if any. The tool must do these steps once by default but allow a parameter to loop with an option to set how many seconds between loops. Other tools like Hudson or CruiseControl could do more fancy scheduling options. The tool must have good defaults but allow optional control. Which repo? origin by default. Which branches? all of them by default. What tool? by default an executable file to be provided by the user named "buildtest", "buildtest.sh" "buildtest.cmd", or buildtest.exe" in the root folder of the repository. Loop delay? run once by default with option to loop after a number of seconds between iterations.

  • Calling a WCF service from Java

    - by Ian Kemp
    As the title says, I need to get some Java 1.5 code to call a WCF web service. I've downloaded and used Metro to generate Java proxy classes, but they aren't generating what I expect, and I believe this is because of the WSDL that the WCF service generates. My WCF classes look like this (full code omitted for brevity): public class TestService : IService { public TestResponse DoTest(TestRequest request) { TestResponse response = new TestResponse(); // actual testing code... response.Result = ResponseResult.Success; return response; } } public class TestResponse : ResponseMessage { public bool TestSucceeded { get; set; } } public class ResponseMessage { public ResponseResult Result { get; set; } public string ResponseDesc { get; set; } public Guid ErrorIdentifier { get; set; } } public enum ResponseResult { Success, Error, Empty, } and the resulting WSDL (when I browse to http://localhost/TestService?wsdl=wsdl0) looks like this: <xsd:element name="TestResponse"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element minOccurs="0" name="TestSucceeded" type="xsd:boolean" /> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> <xsd:element name="ErrorIdentifier" type="q1:guid" xmlns:q1="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/" /> <xsd:simpleType name="ResponseResult"> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string"> <xsd:enumeration value="Error" /> <xsd:enumeration value="Success" /> <xsd:enumeration value="EmptyResult" /> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> <xsd:element name="ResponseResult" nillable="true" type="tns:ResponseResult" /> <xsd:element name="Result" type="tns:ResponseResult" /> <xsd:element name="ResultDesc" nillable="true" type="xsd:string" /> ... <xs:element name="guid" nillable="true" type="tns:guid" /> <xs:simpleType name="guid"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:pattern value="[\da-fA-F]{8}-[\da-fA-F]{4}-[\da-fA-F]{4}-[\da-fA-F]{4}-[\da-fA-F]{12}" /> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> Immediately I see an issue with this WSDL: TestResponse does not contain the properties inherited from ResponseMessage. Since this service has always worked in Visual Studio I've never questioned this before, but maybe that could be causing my problem? Anyhow, when I run Metro's wsimport.bat on the service the following error message is generated: [WARNING] src-resolve.4.2: Error resolving component 'q1:guid' and the outputted Java version of TestResponse lacks any of the properties from ResponseMessage. I hacked the WSDL a bit and changed ErrorIdentifier to be typed as xsd:string, which makes the message about resolving the GUID type go away, but I still don't get any of ResponseMessage's properties. Finally, I altered the WSDL to include the 3 properties from ResponseMessage in TestResponse, and of course the end result is that the generated .java file contains them. However, when I actually call the WCF service from Java, those 3 properties are always null. Any advice, apart from writing the proxy classes myself?

  • iPhone: Repeating Rows in Each Section of Grouped UITableview

    - by Rank Beginner
    I'm trying to learn how to use the UITableView in conjunction with a SQLite back end. My issue is that I've gotten the table to populate with the records from the database, however I'm having a problem with the section titles. I am not able to figure out the proper set up for this, and I'm repeating all tasks under each section. The table looks like this. The groups field is where I'm trying to pull the section title from. TaskID groups TaskName sched lastCompleted nextCompleted success 1 Household laundry 3 03/19/2010 03/22/2010 y 1 Automotive Change oil 3 03/20/2010 03/23/2010 y In my viewDidLoad Method, I create an array from each column in the table like below. //Create and initialize arrays from table columns //______________________________________________________________________________________ ids =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; tasks =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; sched =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; lastComplete =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; nextComplete =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; weight =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; success =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; group =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Bind them to the data //______________________________________________________________________________________ NSString *query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM Tasks ORDER BY nextComplete "]; sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2( database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { [ids addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",(int*) sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0)]]; [group addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 1)]]; [tasks addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 2)]]; [sched addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",(int*) sqlite3_column_int(statement, 3)]]; [lastComplete addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 4)]]; [nextComplete addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 5)]]; [success addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 6)]]; [weight addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",(int*) sqlite3_column_int(statement, 7)]]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } In the table method:cellForRowAtIndexPath, I create controls on the fly and set their text properties to objects in the array. Below is a sample, I can provide more but am already working on a book here... :) /create the task label NSString *tmpMessage; tmpMessage = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ every %@ days, for %@ points",[tasks objectAtIndex:indexPath.row],[sched objectAtIndex:indexPath.row],[weight objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; CGRect schedLabelRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 250, 15); UILabel *lblSched = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:schedLabelRect]; lblSched.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; lblSched.text = tmpMessage; lblSched.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:10]; [cell.contentView addSubview: lblSched]; [lblSched release]; My numberOfSectionsInTableView method looks like this // Figure out how many sections there are by a distinct count of the groups field // The groups are entered by user when creating tasks //______________________________________________________________________________________ NSString *groupquery = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT groups) as Sum FROM Tasks"]; int sum; sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2( database, [groupquery UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { sum = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0); } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } if (sum=0) { return 1; } return 2; } I know I'm going wrong here but this is all that's in my numberOfRowsInSection method return [ids count];

  • Issues writing to serial port on MAC OSX using unistd.h in c

    - by Schuyler
    I am trying to write to a bluetooth device on MAC OSX using the unistd.h Linux functions in c. I am connecting fine and writing the first few bytes with success. When I try to write other commands to it (there are bytes added to the write buffer every 15ms), I don't see any results even though the write() function returns 1 (write success). If you start a write and it doesn't finish by the time you try to start another write (since it is non-blocking), could that possibly screw up the initial write? (If so, is there any way to check if a write has completed?) That is the only thing I can think of since the writes are occurring fairly frequently and the first two are successfully sent. qwbyte() simply adds a byte to the output array and increments its length The open port function: BAMid = -1; struct termios options; struct termios originalTTYAttrs; // Open the serial port read/write, nonblocking, with no controlling terminal, and don't wait for a connection. BAMid = open(strPath, O_RDWR | O_NOCTTY | O_NONBLOCK); if (BAMid == -1) { printf("Error opening serial port %s - %s(%d).\n", strPath, strerror(errno), errno); goto error; } // Issue TIOCEXCL ioctl to prevent additional opens except by root-owned processes. if (ioctl(BAMid, TIOCEXCL) == -1) { printf("Error setting TIOCEXCL on %s - %s(%d).\n", strPath, strerror(errno), errno); goto error; } // Get the current options and save them so we can restore the default settings later. if (tcgetattr(BAMid, &originalTTYAttrs) == -1) { printf("Error getting tty attributes %s - %s(%d).\n", strPath, strerror(errno), errno); goto error; } // The serial port attributes such as timeouts and baud rate are set by modifying the termios // structure and then calling tcsetattr() to cause the changes to take effect. Note that the // changes will not become effective without the tcsetattr() call. options = originalTTYAttrs; // Set raw input (non-canonical) mode, with reads blocking until either a single character // has been received or a one second timeout expires. [should be moot since we are leaving it as nonblocking] cfmakeraw(&options); options.c_cc[VMIN] = 1; options.c_cc[VTIME] = 10; cfsetspeed(&options, B57600); // Set 57600 baud options.c_cflag |= CS8; // Use 8 bit words // Cause the new options to take effect immediately. if (tcsetattr(BAMid, TCSANOW, &options) == -1) { printf("Error setting tty attributes %s - %s(%d).\n", strPath, strerror(errno), errno); goto error; } //flush old transmissions if (tcflush(BAMid,TCIOFLUSH) == -1) { printf("Error flushing BAM serial port - %s(%d).\n", strerror(errno), errno); } oBufLength = 0; // Ask it to start if (! qwbyte(CmdStart) ) { goto error; } if (! qwbyte(CmdFull) ) { goto error; } //this transmit works txbytes(); printf("success opening port!"); return -1; // Failure path error: if (BAMid != -1) { close(BAMid); } printf("returning an error--%d",errno); return errno; } The write function (txbytes): int i, bufSize, numBytes; if(oBufLength != 0) { //if the output array isn't empty //duplicating the output array and its size so it can //be overwritten while this write is occuring printf("about to transmit: "); for(i = 0; i < oBufLength; i++) { printf(" %u",oBuf[i]); tempBuf[i] = oBuf[i]; } printf("\n"); bufSize = oBufLength; oBufLength = 0; numBytes = write(BAMid, &tempBuf, bufSize); printf("bytes written = %d\n",numBytes); if (numBytes == -1) { printf("Error writing to port - %s(%d).\n", strerror(errno), errno); } return (numBytes 0); } else { return 0; }

  • Saving child collections with NHibernate

    - by Ben
    Hi, I am in the process or learning NHibernate so bare with me. I have an Order class and a Transaction class. Order has a one to many association with transaction. The transaction table in my database has a not null constraint on the OrderId foreign key. Order class: public class Order { public virtual Guid Id { get; set; } public virtual DateTime CreatedOn { get; set; } public virtual decimal Total { get; set; } public virtual ICollection<Transaction> Transactions { get; set; } public Order() { Transactions = new HashSet<Transaction>(); } } Order Mapping: <class name="Order" table="Orders"> <cache usage="read-write"/> <id name="Id"> <generator class="guid"/> </id> <property name="CreatedOn" type="datetime"/> <property name="Total" type="decimal"/> <set name="Transactions" table="Transactions" lazy="false" inverse="true"> <key column="OrderId"/> <one-to-many class="Transaction"/> </set> Transaction Class: public class Transaction { public virtual Guid Id { get; set; } public virtual DateTime ExecutedOn { get; set; } public virtual bool Success { get; set; } public virtual Order Order { get; set; } } Transaction Mapping: <class name="Transaction" table="Transactions"> <cache usage="read-write"/> <id name="Id" column="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid"/> </id> <property name="ExecutedOn" type="datetime"/> <property name="Success" type="bool"/> <many-to-one name="Order" class="Order" column="OrderId" not-null="true"/> Really I don't want a bidirectional association. There is no need for my transaction objects to reference their order object directly (I just need to access the transactions of an order). However, I had to add this so that Order.Transactions is persisted to the database: Repository: public void Update(Order entity) { using (ISession session = NHibernateHelper.OpenSession()) { using (ITransaction transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) { session.Update(entity); foreach (var tx in entity.Transactions) { tx.Order = entity; session.SaveOrUpdate(tx); } transaction.Commit(); } } } My problem is that this will then issue an update for every transaction on the order collection (regardless of whether it has changed or not). What I was trying to get around was having to explicitly save the transaction before saving the order and instead just add the transactions to the order and then save the order: public void Can_add_transaction_to_existing_order() { var orderRepo = new OrderRepository(); var order = orderRepo.GetById(new Guid("aa3b5d04-c5c8-4ad9-9b3e-9ce73e488a9f")); Transaction tx = new Transaction(); tx.ExecutedOn = DateTime.Now; tx.Success = true; order.Transactions.Add(tx); orderRepo.Update(order); } Although I have found quite a few articles covering the set up of a one-to-many association, most of these discuss retrieving of data and not persisting back. Many thanks, Ben

  • Simple PHP upload form not working

    - by Lea
    Hi all, I seem to run into so many issues when dealing with writing to directories. If someone could please look over this script, and tell me why it's not working, I'd be so appreciative. Here is the second chck box function: function changeLocality(){ var dataLocality = {'locality[]' : []}; $("input:checked").each(function() { var chcklocal = $(this).val(); //alert(chcklocal); dataLocality['locality[]'].push($(this).val()); }); $.ajax({ type : 'POST', url : 'processLocality.php', data : dataLocality, success : function(dataLocality){ // document.getElementById("newloader").style.display ="block"; $('#project_section').html(dataLocality); // replace the contents coming from php file //alert('data'); // document.getElementById("newloader").style.display ="none"; } }); } But,when I select a region box and then a locality box and then deselect the region,I also get the previous locality value in the region array(name of the array is venue)I want only regions to go in the venue array and regions+localities in the locality array.Actually,if I deselect the region subsequent locality value should also be removed from the array.Also,eventhough I am posting them to different pages the region page holds the locality values.I am stuck as not much of JQUERY knowledge. Went through posts,but was not able to fix it.Any help would be appreciated. EDIT I get an array when I check the first set of chck boxes,and also filter the records using above functions. Array ( [venue] => Array ( [0] => Pune East [1] => Pune West [2] => Pune North [3] => Pune South ) )

  • Calling system commands from Perl

    - by Dan J
    In an older version of our code, we called out from Perl to do an LDAP search as follows: # Pass the base DN in via the ldapsearch-specific environment variable # (rather than as the "-b" paramater) to avoid problems of shell # interpretation of special characters in the DN. $ENV{LDAP_BASEDN} = $ldn; $lcmd = "ldapsearch -x -T -1 -h $gLdapServer" . <snip> " > $lworkfile 2>&1"; system($lcmd); if (($? != 0) || (! -e "$lworkfile")) { # Handle the error } The code above would result in a successful LDAP search, and the output of that search would be in the file $lworkfile. Unfortunately, we recently reconfigured openldap on this server so that a "BASE DC=" is specified in /etc/openldap/ldap.conf and /etc/ldap.conf. That change seems to mean ldapsearch ignores the LDAP_BASEDN environment variable, and so my ldapsearch fails. I've tried a couple of different fixes but without success so far: (1) I tried going back to using the "-b" argument to ldapsearch, but escaping the shell metacharacters. I started writing the escaping code: my $ldn_escaped = $ldn; $ldn_escaped =~ s/\/\\/g; $ldn_escaped =~ s/`/\`/g; $ldn_escaped =~ s/$/\$/g; $ldn_escaped =~ s/"/\"/g; That threw up some Perl errors because I haven't escaped those regexes properly in Perl (the line number matches the regex with the backticks in). Backticks found where operator expected at /tmp/mycommand line 404, at end of line At the same time I started to doubt this approach and looked for a better one. (2) I then saw some Stackoverflow questions (here and here) that suggested a better solution. Here's the code: print("Processing..."); # Pass the arguments to ldapsearch by invoking open() with an array. # This ensures the shell does NOT interpret shell metacharacters. my(@cmd_args) = ("-x", "-T", "-1", "-h", "$gLdapPool", "-b", "$ldn", <snip> ); $lcmd = "ldapsearch"; open my $lldap_output, "-|", $lcmd, @cmd_args; while (my $lline = <$lldap_output>) { # I can parse the contents of my file fine } $lldap_output->close; The two problems I am having with approach (2) are: a) Calling open or system with an array of arguments does not let me pass > $lworkfile 2>&1 to the command, so I can't stop the ldapsearch output being sent to screen, which makes my output look ugly: Processing...ldap_bind: Success (0) additional info: Success b) I can't figure out how to choose which location (i.e. path and file name) to the file handle passed to open, i.e. I don't know where $lldap_output is. Can I move/rename it, or inspect it to find out where it is (or is it not actually saved to disk)? Based on the problems with (2), this makes me think I should return back to approach (1), but I'm not quite sure how to

  • tastypie posting and full example

    - by Justin M
    Is there a full tastypie django example site and setup available for download? I have been wrestling with wrapping my head around it all day. I have the following code. Basically, I have a POST form that is handled with ajax. When I click "submit" on my form and the ajax request runs, the call returns "POST http://192.168.1.110:8000/api/private/client_basic_info/ 404 (NOT FOUND)" I have the URL configured alright, I think. I can access http://192.168.1.110:8000/api/private/client_basic_info/?format=json just fine. Am I missing some settings or making some fundamental errors in my methods? My intent is that each user can fill out/modify one and only one "client basic information" form/model. a page: {% extends "layout-column-100.html" %} {% load uni_form_tags sekizai_tags %} {% block title %}Basic Information{% endblock %} {% block main_content %} {% addtoblock "js" %} <script language="JavaScript"> $(document).ready( function() { $('#client_basic_info_form').submit(function (e) { form = $(this) form.find('span.error-message, span.success-message').remove() form.find('.invalid').removeClass('invalid') form.find('input[type="submit"]').attr('disabled', 'disabled') e.preventDefault(); var values = {} $.each($(this).serializeArray(), function(i, field) { values[field.name] = field.value; }) $.ajax({ type: 'POST', contentType: 'application/json', data: JSON.stringify(values), dataType: 'json', processData: false, url: '/api/private/client_basic_info/', success: function(data, status, jqXHR) { form.find('input[type="submit"]') .after('<span class="success-message">Saved successfully!</span>') .removeAttr('disabled') }, error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { console.log(jqXHR) console.log(textStatus) console.log(errorThrown) var errors = JSON.parse(jqXHR.responseText) for (field in errors) { var field_error = errors[field][0] $('#id_' + field).addClass('invalid') .after('<span class="error-message">'+ field_error +'</span>') } form.find('input[type="submit"]').removeAttr('disabled') } }) // end $.ajax() }) // end $('#client_basic_info_form').submit() }) // end $(document).ready() </script> {% endaddtoblock %} {% uni_form form form.helper %} {% endblock %} resources from residence.models import ClientBasicInfo from residence.forms.profiler import ClientBasicInfoForm from tastypie import fields from tastypie.resources import ModelResource from tastypie.authentication import BasicAuthentication from tastypie.authorization import DjangoAuthorization, Authorization from tastypie.validation import FormValidation from tastypie.resources import ModelResource, ALL, ALL_WITH_RELATIONS from django.core.urlresolvers import reverse from django.contrib.auth.models import User class UserResource(ModelResource): class Meta: queryset = User.objects.all() resource_name = 'user' fields = ['username'] filtering = { 'username': ALL, } include_resource_uri = False authentication = BasicAuthentication() authorization = DjangoAuthorization() def dehydrate(self, bundle): forms_incomplete = [] if ClientBasicInfo.objects.filter(user=bundle.request.user).count() < 1: forms_incomplete.append({'name': 'Basic Information', 'url': reverse('client_basic_info')}) bundle.data['forms_incomplete'] = forms_incomplete return bundle class ClientBasicInfoResource(ModelResource): user = fields.ForeignKey(UserResource, 'user') class Meta: authentication = BasicAuthentication() authorization = DjangoAuthorization() include_resource_uri = False queryset = ClientBasicInfo.objects.all() resource_name = 'client_basic_info' validation = FormValidation(form_class=ClientBasicInfoForm) list_allowed_methods = ['get', 'post', ] detail_allowed_methods = ['get', 'post', 'put', 'delete'] Edit: My resources file is now: from residence.models import ClientBasicInfo from residence.forms.profiler import ClientBasicInfoForm from tastypie import fields from tastypie.resources import ModelResource from tastypie.authentication import BasicAuthentication from tastypie.authorization import DjangoAuthorization, Authorization from tastypie.validation import FormValidation from tastypie.resources import ModelResource, ALL, ALL_WITH_RELATIONS from django.core.urlresolvers import reverse from django.contrib.auth.models import User class UserResource(ModelResource): class Meta: queryset = User.objects.all() resource_name = 'user' fields = ['username'] filtering = { 'username': ALL, } include_resource_uri = False authentication = BasicAuthentication() authorization = DjangoAuthorization() #def apply_authorization_limits(self, request, object_list): # return object_list.filter(username=request.user) def dehydrate(self, bundle): forms_incomplete = [] if ClientBasicInfo.objects.filter(user=bundle.request.user).count() < 1: forms_incomplete.append({'name': 'Basic Information', 'url': reverse('client_basic_info')}) bundle.data['forms_incomplete'] = forms_incomplete return bundle class ClientBasicInfoResource(ModelResource): # user = fields.ForeignKey(UserResource, 'user') class Meta: authentication = BasicAuthentication() authorization = DjangoAuthorization() include_resource_uri = False queryset = ClientBasicInfo.objects.all() resource_name = 'client_basic_info' validation = FormValidation(form_class=ClientBasicInfoForm) #list_allowed_methods = ['get', 'post', ] #detail_allowed_methods = ['get', 'post', 'put', 'delete'] def apply_authorization_limits(self, request, object_list): return object_list.filter(user=request.user) I made the user field of the ClientBasicInfo nullable and the POST seems to work. I want to try updating the entry now. Would that just be appending the pk to the ajax url? For example /api/private/client_basic_info/21/? When I submit that form I get a 501 NOT IMPLEMENTED message. What exactly haven't I implemented? I am subclassing ModelResource, which should have all the ORM-related functions implemented according to the docs.

  • PHP hooks information and help needed

    - by sea_1987
    Background I am realtively new to hooks, and I have been asked to use a hook to populate a view with some data, currently the view gathers it data from a function that is in the model, and becuase the whole object is being passed to the view I can access the function. The function looks like this, public function numCVInSector($k) { $this->load->model('SYSector'); $sectorModel = new SYSector(); $cvs = $sectorModel->fetchRelatedCV($k); $cvs = $cvs[0]['count']; if($cvs == "0") { return false; } else { return $cvs; } } it call's a query in the model that looks like this, public function fetchRelatedCV($k) { $sql = "SELECT sector_id, COUNT(sector_id) as count FROM sy_user_sectors WHERE sector_id = $k"; //print_r($sql); $query = $this->db->query($sql); return $query->result_array(); } $k is the id of element that is in the view. The Problem I have been asked to use a hook that is in the parent of the model the hook is called post populate, now I have very little idea of what a hook is or how to use one to implement my function. Could some one give me some advice, the code where the hook is original made looks like this, public function populate($where = array()) { $results = array( "success" => false, "is_error" => false, "error_code" => "", "error_message" => "" ); if(empty($where) && empty($this->aliases['id'])){ $results['is_error'] = true; $results['error_message'] = 'No criteria.'; return $results; } // [hook] $this->prePopulate(); $where = count($where) > 0 ? $where : array('id' => $this->aliases['id']); $query = $this->db->get_where($this->tableName, $where, 1); if($query->num_rows() < 1){ $results['error_message'] = 'Empty results.'; return $results; } foreach($query->result_array() as $row){ foreach($this->aliases as $key => $val){ $this->aliases[$key] = $row[$key]; } } // [hook] $this->postPopulate(); // Presume success $results['success'] = true; return $results; } I have been asked to use the postPopulate hook. public function postPopulate() { $args = $this->getHookArgs('post_populate'); if(!is_array($args)){ // $this->fb->log($args, 'bad args'); return false; } // code here... // Convert dates to front end formats. foreach($this->frontEndDateFields as $fieldName => $dateFormat){ $dateRes = mlib_du_getFormattedMySQLDate($this->aliases[$fieldName], $dateFormat); if($dateRes != false){ $this->aliases[$fieldName] = $dateRes; } } return true; }

  • How to get data from struts2 action with jQuery?

    - by Rafa Romero
    I have an Struts2 Web with GoogleMaps. I want to load a list of markers which are saved in a SQL DDBB. To do this, I tried with jQuery and Ajax. Here you are the code: loadMarkers.java public class loadMarkers extends ActionSupport implements ServletRequestAware,ServletResponseAware{ //Variables de sesion/cookie FunctionClass ses; protected HttpServletResponse servletResponse; protected HttpServletRequest servletRequest; private String userID=""; //Variables del marker private List<marker> markersList = new ArrayList<marker>(); public String execute() throws Exception{ FunctionClass friends = new FunctionClass(); //Leemos de la cookie for(Cookie c : servletRequest.getCookies()) { if (c.getName().equals("userID")) userID = (c.getValue()); } System.out.println("en el loadMarkers"); connectionBBDD con = new connectionBBDD(); markersList = con.loadMarkers(userID); return SUCCESS; } I want to use the markerList array in Javascript, to create the markers. This is the struts.xml file: <package name="jsonActions" namespace="/test" extends="json-default"> <action name="LoadMarkers" class="web.localizadroid.maps.loadMarkers"> <interceptor-ref name="basicStack"/> <result type="json"> <param name="root">markersList</param> </result> </action> </package> And here you are the Javascript (jQuery) code: function loadMarkersJ(){ alert("dentro"); $.ajax({ type : "post", url : "LoadMarkers", dataType: "json", success : function(data) { alert(data); var image = new google.maps.MarkerImage ('http://i53.tinypic.com/ettquh.png'); var jSon_Object = eval("(" + data + ")"); //For para analizar los datos (Json) obtenidos de la BBDD for (x = 0; x < jSon_Object.length; x++) { var markersArray = []; var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(jSon_Object[x].lat, jSon_Object[x].lon); markerLoaded = new google.maps.Marker( { position : myLatlng, map : map, icon: image, title: "NOMBRE: " + jSon_Object[x].tarjetName + "\n" + "ANOTACIONES: " + jSon_Object[x].anotaciones + "\n" + "TIME: " + jSon_Object[x].time }); markersArray.push(markerLoaded); if (markersArray) { for (i in markersArray) { alert("entro en forColocaMarkers"); if (markersArray[i].getAnimation() != null) { markersArray[i].setAnimation(null); } else { markersArray[i].setAnimation(google.maps.Animation.BOUNCE); } markersArray[i].setMap(map); } } } } }); } From success : function(data) { to the end, is JavaScript code to create de markers, and this it's OK. The problem is whith ajax, because I don't get to obtain markerList Array by jSon data return...I think that the problem is in the url attribute from $.ajax...I tried loadMarkers.action and loadMarkers, but nothing happens. When I execute the web, only prints the alert alert("dentro"), the alert alert(data) never has been printed. I have forgotten to add the code where I call the Javascript function (loadMarkersJ). Here you are: <p><s:a action="LoadMarkers.action" namespace="/test" onclick="loadMarkersJ(this)">Cargar Marcadores S</s:a></p> Somebody can help me please?

  • How can I update a record using a correlated subquery?

    - by froadie
    I have a function that accepts one parameter and returns a table/resultset. I want to set a field in a table to the first result of that recordset, passing in one of the table's other fields as the parameter. If that's too complicated in words, the query looks something like this: UPDATE myTable SET myField = (SELECT TOP 1 myFunctionField FROM fn_doSomething(myOtherField) WHERE someCondition = 'something') WHERE someOtherCondition = 'somethingElse' In this example, myField and myOtherField are fields in myTable, and myFunctionField is a field return by fn_doSomething. This seems logical to me, but I'm getting the following strange error: 'myOtherField' is not a recognized OPTIMIZER LOCK HINTS option. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, and how I can accomplish this? *UPDATE: * Based on Anil Soman's answer, I realized that the function is expecting a string parameter and the field being passed is an integer. I'm not sure if this should be a problem as an explicit call to the function using an integer value works - e.g. fn_doSomething(12345) seems to automatically cast the number to an string. However, I tried to do an explicit cast: UPDATE myTable SET myField = (SELECT TOP 1 myFunctionField FROM fn_doSomething(CAST(myOtherField AS varchar(1000))) WHERE someCondition = 'something') WHERE someOtherCondition = 'somethingElse' Now I'm getting the following error: Line 5: Incorrect syntax near '('.

    Hi, I have a problem with a xml parsing. I have create a class for parsing. The xmlURL is correct (testing it from debug) but when i call the method parse the variable success become FALSE and a errorParsing is "NSXMLParserErrorDomain". Can you help me?
