  • Host WCF IIS could not find assembly .dll

    Im trying to host a WCF service on IIS.I created a virtual directory,set application pool to v.4.0 framework,set the pysichal path to the application path. And when try to run the service i get follow error: "Could not load file or assembly 'ingdnp.dll' or one of its dependencies." Does anyone what is that DLL?I couldnt find anything on google. UPDATE: I need to register DLL in GAC (Global Assembly Cache). THK All

    I have a WCF Web Service that my ASP.NET app uses. It has been working fine for quite some time. I just added in a Dev Express Grid (and the Dev Express DLLs) and a new page that uses them and now I am getting parsing errors on the WSDL. But the weird part is that it works fine on my machine but fails on the web server machine. (Both are connecting to the same web services WSDL.)   • Android: restful API service

    Hey, I'm looking to make a service which I can use to make calls to a web based rest api. I've spent a couple of days looking through stackoverflow.com, reading books and looking at articles whilst playing about with some code and I can't get anything which I'm happy with. Basically I want to start a service on app init then I want to be able to ask that service to request a url and return the results. In the meantime I want to be able to display a progress window or something similar. I've created a service currently which uses IDL, I've read somewhere that you only really need this for cross app communication, so think these needs stripping out but unsure how to do callbacks without it. Also when I hit the post(Config.getURL("login"), values) the app seems to pause for a while (seems weird - thought the idea behind a service was that it runs on a different thread!) Currently I have a service with post and get http methods inside, a couple of AIDL files (for two way communication), a ServiceManager which deals with starting, stopping, binding etc to the service and I'm dynamically creating a Handler with specific code for the callbacks as needed. I don't want anyone to give me a complete code base to work on, but some pointers would be greatly appreciated; even if it's to say I'm doing it completely wrong. I'm pretty new to Android and Java dev so if there are any blindingly obvious mistakes here - please don't think I'm a rubbish developer, I'm just wet behind the ears and would appreciate being told exactly where I'm going wrong.   • Why limit WCF ServiceContracts to 10-20 OperationContracts?

    I've seen recommendations (Juval Lowy, et al) that a service contract should have "no more than 20 members...twelve is probably the practical limit". Why? It seems that if you wish to provide a service as the interface to a relatively large db (50-100 tables) you're going to go way past that in just CRUD alone. I've worked with plenty of other services that provided hundreds of 'OperationContracts'...is there something peculiar about WCF? Is there something I'm missing here?

    I have a third party COM component (they don't offer a .Net assy), that has the additional feature that it only works under x86 compile. I am trying to wrap this in a WCF service, but if I select x86, the service won't start (System.BadImageFormatException). Any workarounds for this ? Thanks Larry

When testing with soap ui for example creating an employee, if I send soap request xml with <empId>0</empId> works fine. <empId></empId> **throwing exception.** if i completly remove <empId> tag it works fine....     I'd like to add one additional method for each service operation in my WCF client proxy code (i.e. the generated class that derives from ClientBase). I have written a Visual Studio extension that has an IOperationContractGenerationExtension implementation, but this interface only seems to expose the ability to modify the service interface, not the ClientBase-derived class. Is there any way to generate new methods in the proxy client class?
