  Does the .NET String.Format method allow placement of a string at a fixed position within a fixed length string. " String Goes Here" " String Goes Here " "String Goes Here " How is this done using .NET? Edit - I have tried Format/PadLeft/PadRight to death. They do not work. I don't know why. I ended up writing my own function to do this. Edit - I made a mistake and used a colon instead of a comma in the format specifier. Should be "{0,20}".   Hi guys, I've got a string that comes from a POST form where I want to replace all spaced with some other character. Here's that I did: $cdata = str_replace(" ","#",$cdata); And I got this. --- Contact-ID#=#148 [10274da8]#Sinhronizacija#=#private [1000137d]#Uzvards#=#Zom [1000137c]#Vards#=#Tana [1000130e]#Talrunis#=#3333 [1000130e]#Mobilais#=#5555 As you can see, spaced before "[10..." are still there. Any ideas what could be the problem?

  I am having an issue with referencing the sheet name through =Branded!$A$1 Notation in VBA. For a while I have passed in simple sheet names like: Dim SheetName As String SheetName = "Pizza" ("=" & SheetName & "!$A$1") This has worked fine, but recently I passed in "Tier 1" and of course this notation broke. Is there any fix or workaround for this? It Think it's because of the space, the number or both....

  I currently have a string, say $line='55.25040882, 3,,,,,,', that I want to remove all whitespace and repeated commas and periods from. Currently, I have: $line =~ s/[.,]{2,}//; $line =~ s/\s{1,}//; Which works, as I get '55.25040882,3', but when I try $line =~ s/[.,\s]{2,}//; It pulls out the ", " and leaves the ",,,,,,". I want to retain the first comma and just get rid of the whitespace. Is there a way to elegantly do this with one line of regex? Please let me know if I need to provide additional information.

• Regex: Match opening/closing chars with spaces

  I'm trying to complete a regular expression that will pull out matches based on their opening and closing characters, the closest I've gotten is ^(\[\[)[a-zA-Z.-_]+(\]\]) Which will match a string such as "[[word1]]" and bring me back all the matches if there is more than one, The problem is I want it to pick up matchs where there may be a space in so for example "[[word1 word2]]", now this will work if I add a space into my pattern above however this pops up a problem that it will only get one match for my entire string so for example if I have a string "Hi [[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]], How are you" then the match will be "[[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]]" rather than 3 matches "[[Title]]", "[[Name]]", "[[surname]]". I'm sure I'm just a char or two away in the Regex but I'm stuck, How can I make it return the 3 matches. Thanks

  I'm having difficulty creating a month-count select query in SQL. Basically, I have a list of entries, all of which have a date associated with them. What I want the end result to be, is a list containing 12 rows (one for each month), and each row would contain the month number (1 for January, 2 for February, etc), and a count of how many entries had that month set as it's date. Something like this: Month - Count 1 - 12 2 - 0 3 - 7 4 - 0 5 - 9 6 - 0 I can get an result containing months that have a count of higher than 0, but if the month contains no entries, the row isn't created. I get this result just by doing SELECT Month(goalDate) as monthNumber, count(*) as monthCount FROM goalsList WHERE Year(goalDate) = 2012 GROUP BY Month(goalDate) ORDER BY monthNumber Thanks in advance for the help!

• Preventing Windows version of Vim from destroying other file systems permissions

  I am currently using the windows version of gVim to edit source files on a networked drive mapped to a linux system, as well as local files created in cygwin. The problem is that the windows version of gVim destroys the original file permissions on the respective systems. IE: Files on cygwin are defaulted to 077. When edited by the windows version of vim they are saved as 777.This problem doesn't even occur when using ms-notepad (as well as all other editors I've tried), so I am not quite sure why gVim does it. A possible solution would be to use cygwin's gVim for everything, but that's rather cumbersome as it requires running an x11 environment to support it, and it causes some problems when running some commands from within gVim (or vim for that matter) when working on the networked drive. Any ideas how I might be able to maintain the existing file permissions? Edit: This morning while on a different machine the problem with cygwin did not occur. Cygwin & gVim were the same version, however the other machine is running WinXP while the machine the problem is occurring on runs Win7.

• WAMP Installation - Multiple PHP Version Issues

  I have installed WAMP because I am attempting to modify an an application which uses Zend Optimizer (I cannot use Z.O. with PHP5.3+, which is why I decided to install WAMP). I downloaded the latest version - Wamp Server 2.1 - which comes bundled with PHP5.3.5. I then downloaded a PHP version that would be compatible with Z.O. - 5.2.9. - and a compatible Apache version, 2.0.63. My problem: PHP scripts run fine, but anything with MySQL does not work. Running the testmysql.php script returns the fatal error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in C:\wamp\www\testmysql.php on line 2". I have looked in the PHP INI files inside both PHP versions, and I'm fairly sure the relevant information is there. At least, there are parts inside that mention MySQL! Perhaps somebody could clarify exactly what information should be present? Also, when visiting a page that called phpinfo(), I noticed that the 'Loaded Configuration File' was pointing to C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.5\php.ini, even though I have enabled the older PHP version. I've stopped and started Apache, too, and that hasn't made a difference. Is anybody able to offer any assistance? Anything at all would be great; I'm not very good at messing around with Apache/

• apt unable to install particular version of package (but gives no error)

  I'd like to install particular version of libstd++6 with following command: # apt-get install libstdc++6=4.9.0-8 -V Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following extra packages will be installed: libstdc++6 (4.8.2-16) 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 216 not upgraded. It gives no error, but apt keeps version that was already installed. And also it refers to this package as "extra". There's no apt preferences set in /etc/apt/preferences.d. And the desirable version is definetely available through our local mirror. (If I try to run "apt-get download libstdc++6=4.9.0-8" it will download exactly desirable version.) This is 'uname -a' : Linux xxxxxx.com 2.6.32-042stab061.2 #1 SMP Fri Aug 24 09:07:21 MSK 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux It's a VPS hosted in my main dedicated server (OpenVZ). • Windows Server Backup 2012 error - "The version does not support this version of the file format."

  I'm trying out Windows Server 2012, specifically Windows Server Backup, as it would be a very useful way to see us through until we can upgrade our 'real' backup system. I'm backing up to a network share, and a Server 2008 WSB works fine. On the 2012 server however, I get an error: Backup of volume \?\Volume{298d1a7d-f80f-11e1-93e8-806e6f6e6963}\ has failed. The version does not support this version of the file format. It's a VHDX written by WSB, so I'm not sure what version it's complaining about. I can see a whole bunch of files in the destination, so I don't think it's a simple authentication issue, but I only get about 8Mb of VHDX written.

• `which python` points to the python I want, but `python` runs the wrong version

  I want to use python24 provided by ports, so I've installed it, and python_select -s shows that the version I want is indeed selected. Running which python gives /opt/local/bin/python, and running /opt/local/bin/python gives me the version I want. However when I run python from the shell, I get the /usr/bin/python version instead. I don't have a python alias. Here's the situation in a nutshell: I believe the path is set up sensibly, and which python seems to confirm this. alias only returns 1 entry, which is something unrelated to this. Nevertheless, running python from the bash shell gives me the wrong python! I'm kind of stumped! What am I overlooking?

  I'm running MySQL 5.1.52 on CentOS 4.6 and I'm trying to install mysql-devel to match my MySQL version. If I do yum install mysql-devel it wants to upgrade MySQL to 5.1.58, yet if I do yum search mysql-devel, in addition to finding 5.1.58, I get a match for: 5.1.52-jason.1 .. utterramblings .. Matched from: mysql-devel Why is yum trying to install an updated version and is there any way to get it to install the correct version without the need to upgrade MySQL? I'd appreciate any help.

• Obtain newer version of NetSNMP for CentOS 5

  I'm using CentOS 5. I have a need to use net-snmp version "net-snmp-utils-5.5-37.el6_2.1.x86_64" which is currently available in CentOS 6 but not in CentOS 5. The reason I need this version (or greater) is because there is a new supported option added to the config files that I need for my setup. It would be very much appreciated if someone would give me some steps to install this version (or greater) on my production CentOS 5 systems. Upgrading to CentOS 6 is currently not an option.   I want to upgrade my current running applications to latest version. But due to some package issue i am unable to install them. I get common error in that: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version 'GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found. Any help on this issue would be great as I am trying to run Apache ANT using Java 1.6.

  I have a big problem with the Portuguese version of MS Office 2007 and 2010. The standard shortcuts that any common application uses are changed. Some shortcuts that are not working: Ctrl+S (save), Ctrl+F (find) and Ctrl+A (select all). I want to configure it to use the shortcuts of the English version. There is an option that allow to configure each shortcut separately. Furthermore, I have to configure for each app, if I configure in Word, I will have to configure again for Excel. How to use the shortcuts of the English version of MS Office regardless of the Office language? Thanks

• Apache Upgrade Version

  I have a live server that I need to upgrade Apache from 2.2.10 to 2.2.15 on Windows Server 2003. I have just inherited this server and need the fastest way to upgrade to the latest stable version without much downtime and without messing up my configuration. My first thought is to copy the httpd.conf, uninstall the current Apache, install the latest stable Apache version and then replace the httpd.conf with the previous live version. Anyone see a problem or pitfall with that? How does a Server Pro do something like this. (I'm a programmer and am new to server systems administration).

• WSUS Showing Incorrect Version & Client Update Failure but they can check-in

  One of the issues we are having is the clients will not download the updates from our WSUS server. They check-in as they are suppose too and find applicable updates but they are unable to actually download and install them. The GPO is set correctly. We decided to install the patch KB2720211to see if it would help eleviate this issue but it did not. In fact, even stranger, if I check the version that is installed on WSUS it reads 3.2.7600.226 but as far as I know it should read 3.2.7600.251. If I check Add/Remove programs to see what Windows Updates have been installed it even lists for WSUS that KB2720211 has been installed at version 3.2.7600.251. To install this update I followed the following directions Question: Has anyone seen this issue where the patch is installed yet not showing the correct version? What can I try to get my clients to update?

Some people suggested I run the command cat /etc/redhat-release but I got an error saying file not found. In fact, i'm not entirely sure i'm even using CentOS. That's what some suggested it might be. • Open original Microsoft Office document (not "version 1") on Mac OS X Lion restart

  My MacBook Pro running Lion has been frequently freezing lately, and I've had to restart with the power button. When Lion starts up again, the Microsoft Office applications that were running start and load different autosaved versions of the documents I had open (i.e. it does not open abc.xlsx but [version 1] of abc.xlsx). Sometimes it also opens the original files. Several times I've inputted data into these "version 1" files, only to try to save it and realize that it isn't the original file and is sometimes missing data that is contained in the original file. Is there any way to make autorecover open the actual document with the unsaved changes, instead of making a new temporary version?

• How To Check My Current Version of FFMPEG

  I have FFMPEG installed on 2 different servers. On one of the servers, i run into an issue every time i try to convert m4v files where ffmpeg just processes the file indefinitely. When I take the same source file and try to run it on the other server it seems to work just fine. Both servers are running the same version of GNU/Linux. Some one suggested i check to see if the same version of ffmpeg is installed on the servers, so my question to you all is, "how do i check my ffmpeg version?" Thanks!

• Installing old version of mysql

  I'm trying to troubleshoot a database import problem and want to duplicate the environment onto another server. This will require installing an older version of mysql, but the packages that are listed are only showing a recent version. I'm currently running debian wheezy 7.1 and what was installed was the packaged 5.5.31. What is the official way to install an older copy? I guess I could hunt around Google and hope to find some files of the same version to install from source, but this doesn't seem like a reliable method.
