• Best way to update badgeValue of UITabBarController from a UIView

  Hi everyone, I have a tabBarController set up in the AppDelegate and have a few UIViewControllers with Nav Controllers. In one of the TabBar items, after I have pushed a few UIViews I want to update the badgeValue item of a different TabBar item. Whats the best way to do this? The only way I can really think is a NSNotification and a singleton storage for the value, but it seems a lot of work for something simple, that and I have no idea about NSNotifications. I had a wild guess at something like super.tabBarController.otherView.badgeValue = @"1" (as I set which tab is selected in a similar way) but I'm not surprised this doesn't work. Thanks

  Hi, I have a database "temp" with table "A". I created new database "temp2". I want to copy table "A" from "temp" to a new table in "temp2" . I tried this statement but it says I have incorrect syntax, here is the statement: CREATE TABLE B IN 'temp2' AS (SELECT * FROM A IN 'temp'); Here is the error: Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 2 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'IN'.   Curved corners in the IE's... I'm using a CSS 3 border-radus class called .curved on all my things I want with cool curved corners. The new CSS works in all the normal browsers, however IE is being a right dips**t. Whats the best practice for adding rounded corners nowadays. Shell I target anything with .curved in JS and do it all in jquery? Use some messy conditional tags. Or just give it a few years and not use CSS 3?

We can share our screens so we can help with code writing. And we can use the text chat to copy-paste code between each other. We also use Subversion for version control. • PHP - Processing Invalid XML

  I'm using SimpleXML to load in some xml files (which I didn't write/provide and can't really change the format of). Occasionally (eg one or two files out of every 50 or so) they don't escape any special characters (mostly &, but sometimes other random invalid things too). This creates and issue because SimpleXML with php just fails, and I don't really know of any good way to handle parsing invalid XML. My first idea was to preprocess the XML as a string and put ALL fields in as CDATA so it would work, but for some ungodly reason the XML I need to process puts all of its data in the attribute fields. Thus I can't use the CDATA idea. An example of the XML being: <Author v="By Someone & Someone" /> Whats the best way to process this to replace all the invalid characters from the XML before I load it in with SimpleXML?

  I can't figure out how it's working. Like this. How is this get page number -and records- by post id? I think the first option is; declare an index / int variable in post table and increase-decrease it when adding and deleting post. but whats happen when i delete first row and if table has one million records? • Firefox Upload Form Issue

  Ive created an uplaod script in php that takes a file, resizes it, and creates a cropped square thumbnail. The script itself seems to work fine. However, when i tried to upload an image through firefox, on clicking the submit button the browser shows the loading animation, but it never calls the script, it just stays on the current page. If dont upload an image, then the script can be found and is run. I tried in safari, and i dont get the same problem, i can upload an image from the form, it will process it and take me the correct page. Ive tired just calling a basic script from the form, it just prints out the $_POST and $_FILES, and i get the same result, if an image is present, it wont get to the script, if no image is present, it runs fine. Im just wondering if anyone has any idea whats going on?

  Trying to setup a simple Thread/Poll table mapping. Here is what I have: Threads table ThreadID (Primary Key/Identity Column) Polls table PollID (Primary Key, FK for ThreadID for one-to-one relation) Question PollOptions table PollOptionID (Identity/Primary Key) Text PollID PollVotes table PollVoteID (Primary Key/Identity) PollOptionID I'm not sure if this is a proper relationship. It seems wrong but I'm not sure whats wrong with it. A Thread can have 0 or 1 Poll. A Poll can have 2 or more PollOptions. A PollOption can have 0 or many PollVotes. I'm going to be using Entity Framework and before I generate the code for it (VS 2010, .NET 4) I want to make sure I have the proper relationship mapping.

I dont understand whats the difference between !!window.attachEvent and using just window.attachEvent. Is it just a convention or is there more to it that's not obvious?

  Take the following code: public static string ReverseIt(string myString) { char[] foo = myString.ToCharArray(); Array.Reverse(foo); return new string(foo); } I understand that strings are immutable, but what I dont understand is why a new string needs to be called return new string(foo); instead of return foo.ToString(); I have to assume it has something to do with reassembling the CharArray (but thats just a guess). Whats the difference between the two and how do you know when to return a new string as opposed to returning a System.String that represents the current object?

I'm messing with assembly for the first time and just trying to return the first character of the array in the dl register. C# 3.0 doesn't just stop there." Should we increasingly use them instead of loops? And should be having loops(instead of those three building blocks of data manipulation) be one of the metrics for coding horrors on code reviews? And why? [NOTE] I'm not advocating fully functional programming on those codes that could be simply translated to loops(e.g. tail recursions) Asking for politer term. • Can I monitor traffic on my Incoming Dialup connection using Wireshark?

  Hi, I am trying to create a RAS server in XP Pro. The idea is to log in to this server via a dialup connection. I have set up a new network connection via the New Connect Wizard in XP - according to this tutorial on techrepublic. I am sure that the modem and the connection is working, I have tested it. However, I want to monitor incoming network traffic on this connection. So I thought I would use Wireshark. The problem is that Wireshark does not list this incoming connection on the front page. It lists all my other network connections, ( e.g. my ethernet connection ) but not this one. Whats the best way to monitor traffic on this connection?
