  • Unable to get prosody running on Ubuntu 10.04 (lua issues)

    All this is performed on Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Server I installed LUA 5.1.4 following this procedure - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1874860 I installed prosody following this command (after downloading the package) - sudo dpkg -i prosody_0.8.2-1_i386.deb After installation, I get the following error: I have tried to use as suggested luarock and sudo apt-get install to fix these. But still it keeps showing me these errors. Selecting previously deselected package prosody. (Reading database ... 59416 files and directories currently installed.)   • Netbook thinks it is a desktop

    Question: Are, and if so what, there packages for download that I can get netbook to understand it is not a desktop and that it is a netbook. Info: I'm running an Acer Aspire One with ubuntu desktop 9.10. I tried Ubuntu Netbook Remix first but it has graphics issues with the aspire one. So I changed to Ubuntu Desktop. It was the only distro (after debian, centOS, Fedora, and Knoppix all failed me) that I managed to get working. The only thing is that it is having issues doing things that a netbook/laptop should be doing. most notably is that it will run it's battery dead if I close the screen and throw it into my back pack. It seems to just stay fully on and runs it's self to death. also it will lock up some times if I close the screen and come back to it 10 or 20 minutes later. It also won't retain volume settings when I reboot, as well as screen brightness. and just a couple of other things that I can't quite put my finger on, but just seem amiss. like I said, Essentially my netbook thinks it is a desktop, how can I fix this? ~N

  • Mac OS X Terminal.app Ubuntu 9.10 SSHD and incorrect keyboard mapping

    Does anyone have any Idea how to handle this? I can't stand connecting to certain Ubuntu boxes via Mac OS X because of issues with keyboard layout etc. I have set TERM=vt100 and TERM=xterm-color in Ubuntu .bashrc and also in the Terminal.app advanced preferences and nothing seems to fix this issue. Trying to use arrow keys on slim silver keyboard results in ^[[A etc. From Answer OS X 10.6.4 When I try to run /lib/terminfo/x/xterm-color I get permission denied? Maybe this is the issue?! Regular bash login shell. If I sudo often it works. Which leads me to believe the above permissions problem is the cause.     I'm trying to configure reverse proxy rules in vhost.conf. I have Apache-2.2.8 on Ubuntu-8.04, monitored by Plesk-10.4.4. What I'm trying to achieve is defining a reverse proxy rule that defers all traffic to -say- http://mydomain/tomcat/ to the Tomcat server running on port 8080. I have mod_rewrite and mod_proxy loaded in Apache. As far as I understand mod_proxy docs, entering following rules in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain/conf/vhost.conf should work: <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyRequests off RewriteRule ^/tomcat/(.*)$ http://mydomain:8080/$1 [P] Yet, I am getting a HTTP 500: internal server error when requesting above URL. (Note: I decided to use a rewrite rule in order to at least get some information logged.)   • Dual boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10 across a reboot

    My Setup: I have two separate SSDs, and each contains an independently bootable OS - W8 and U12.10. From my extremely limited knowledge, this means each has a functioning EFI partition(?). My default boot order (GA-Z68XP-UD3P mobo with UEFI firmware update) boots the UEFI partition containing windows first, but if I enter the BIOS I can select the "ubuntu" entry to successfully boot ubuntu. Both drives are GPT, and are EFI boots. What I want to do: Reboot Windows 8, re-enter W8 (this is happening now due to the default boot order). What I want to change, however, is to boot into Ubuntu if i reboot from ubuntu. Essentially, I would like to work within one OS unless I consciously choose otherwise. Normally, I would not even ask to something I thought was impossible, but... Why I think this is possible: When trying EasyBCD to add ubuntu to the W8 UEFI bootloader, I noticed an "iReboot" addon or something that allows you to select which OS to boot into from within the OS. Note that I ended up not using the NeoGrub entry to chain Ubuntu off the W8 bootloader because I couldn't get much help with it. Is this possible? Have I had too much coffee and gone insane?   • Network external hard drive reports not enough free space

    I'm running an Ubuntu (10.04) Samba server on a local network. The server has a 50GB internal drive with only 24MB free. I've shared a folder /samba from that drive. I also have a 1TB NTFS external hard drive mounted to the system. There is a symbiotic link from the Samba shared folder on the nearly-full internal drive to the plenty-of-free-space external drive (i.e. /samba/external_hd). I wish to copy a 3.25GB folder into the (remote) external hard drive, via a Mac (10.6.8). The Mac reports (correctly) that there's 24MB free on the server, and so will not let me copy the folder on the Mac over to the external drive (dragging the folder into /samba/external_hd), failing with a "server does not have enough free space" error. However, it seems that I can still scp the folder into the external drive, via the symbolic link. Is there a reason as to why this is happening (and are there any ways to prevent it)? Is this even good practice (to mount a drive and link into the directory)?

  • Canon EDSDK 2.8 (Xcode 3.2.2 - Snow Leopard 10.6.3)

    I'm trying to build an application using the Canon EDSDK 2.8. I created a new Cocoa Application project in Xcode, and imported the headers and framework files. When I try to build and run (without writing any code), I get two warnings that say the frameworks are missing x86_64 architecture files. If I try and import the "EDSDK.h" header file, I end up with about 100 miscellaneous errors. I've tried changing the architecture to i386, however when I try and build and run, I get a debugger error that says "Cannot access memory at address 0x0". The odd thing is that I can get the example applications bundled with the SDK to compile and run without issues, Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

    I'm trying to zoom in on a Google MapView on step in the oncreateMethod of my Activity. Sadly the zoomIn function I'm using does not take any arguments.   • Command /Developer/usr/bin/dsymutil failed with exit code 10

    I am getting the above error message randomly (so far as I can tell) on iPhone projects. Occasionally it will go away upon either: Clean Restart XCode Reboot Reinstall XCode But sometimes it won't. When it won't the only solution I have found is to take all the source material, import it into a new project, and then redo all the connections in IB. Then I'm good until it strikes again. Anybody have any suggestions? [update 20091030] I have tried building both debug and release versions, both full and lite versions. I've also tried switching the debug symbols from DWARF with external dSYM file to DWARF and to stabs. Clean builds in all formats make no differences. Permission repairs change nothing. Setting up a new user has no effect. Same error on the builds. Thanks for the suggestions! [Update 20091031] Here's an easier and (apparently) reliable workaround. It hinges upon the discovery that the problem is linked to a target not a project In the same project file, create a new target Option-Drag (copy) all the files from the BAD target 'Copy Bundle Resources' folder to the NEW target 'Copy Bundle Resources' folder Repeat (2) with 'Compile Sources' and 'Link Binary With Libraries' Duplicate the Info.plist file for the BAD target and name it correctly for the NEW target. Build the NEW target! [Update 20100222] Apparently an IDE bug, now apparently fixed, although Apple does not allow direct access to the original bug of a duplicate. I can no longer reproduce this behaviour, so hopefully it is dead, dead, dead.

Here's a brief history - I had MAMP on my machine, but now I downloaded the latest MySQL from mysql.com and installed version 5.1.46 this new version runs fine and client "mysql" is able to connect and I also have XCode v3.2.1, since someone mentioned that it can cause issues. Here's the error - **Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing mysql: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby extconf.rb --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config mkmf.rb can't find header files for ruby at /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/ruby.h Gem files will remain installed in /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/mysql-2.8.1 for inspection. Assume the number being represented is larger than the system can handle as an actual number (an int or a double etc). How can I convert that to a decimal string? I'm open to a solution for any base N which satisfies the above criteria (binary, hex, ...).

    Hi, I have a facelets 1.2 application that I am running on Weblogic 11g. I want to use the JBoss EL implementation that allows me to call bean methods with arguments. For this, I have packaged the jboss-el-2.0.1.GA.jar in my WAR's WEB-INF/lib directory. I have also added a context-param in my web.xml to override the Sun implementation. <context-param> <param-name>com.sun.faces.expressionFactory</param-name> <param-value>org.jboss.el.ExpressionFactoryImpl</param-value> </context-param> But when I load a page that contains an expression like <ice:outputText value="#{errBean.getErrMsg(error.code)}"/> I get an expression parsing exception java.lang.Exception: javax.faces.FacesException: com.sun.el.parser.ParseException: Encountered "(" at line 1, column 25.   • x-dom-event-stream in Opera 10 Only Working on First Event

    I have a python script (in the CherryPy framework) that sends Event: and data: text as this Opera blog post describes to a client browser. The javascript that recieves the x-dom-event-stream content is almost identical to what they show in the blog post. However, the browser displays only the first event sent. Anyone know what I'm missing? I tried a few older versions of Opera and found that it works in Opera 9.52 but not in any newer versions. What did they change? So I know the output is in the correct format and that the stream works at all.

    The SQL implementation of relational databases has been around in their current form for something like 25 years (since System R and Ingres). Even the main (loosely adhered to) standard is ANSI-92 (although there were later updates) is a good 15 years old. What innovations can you think of with SQL based databases in the last ten years or so. I am specifically excluding OLAP, Columnar and other non-relational (or at least non SQL) innovations. I also want to exclude 'application server' type features and bundling (like reporting tools) Although the basic approach has remained fairly static, I can think of: Availability Ability to handle larger sets of data Ease of maintenance and configuration Support for more advanced data types (blob, xml, unicode etc) Any others that you can think of?

    I came across this RDMS via the advert on stackoverflow. Seems to be in the vein of MS Access / Filemaker / Apex database development tools but focused on web based applications. It quotes rave reviews from EWeek and a favourable mention from Dr Dobbs regarding its ability to create AJAX web applications without coding. The Eweek review, apparently written by an ASP.NET programmer, goes on to proclaim the ease at which apps can be extended using the inbuilt XBasic language and how custom javascript can easily be added without wading through code. Has anyone here built a web app with Alpha 5? Does anyone have comments on the development process, the speed of it or limitations they encountered along the way? To me it seems Oracle APEX comes closest to the feature set, has anyone programmed in both and have any comments?

  • Indy 10 FTP empty list

I have been receiving reports from some of my users that, when using idFTP.List() from some servers (MS FTP) then the listing is received as empty (no files) when in reality there are (non-hidden) files on the current directory. May this be a case of a missing parser? The funny think, when I use the program to get the list from MY server (MSFTP on W2003) everything seems OK but on some servers I've been hitting this problem. Using latest Indy10 on D2010. Any idea?

  • Convert local time (10 digit number) to a readable datetime format

    Hey all, I'm working with pbx for voip calls. One aspect of pbx is that you can choose to receive CDR packages. Those packages have 2 timestamps : "utc" and "local", but both seem to always be the same. Here's an example of a timestamp : "1268927156". At first sight, there seems to be no logic in it. So i tried converting it several ways, but with no good result. That value should provide a time around 11am (+1GMT) today. Things i tried: Datetime dt = new Datetime(number); Timespan ts = new Timespan(number); DateTime utc = new DateTime(number + 504911232000000000, DateTimeKind.Utc) and some others i can't remember right now. Am i missing something stupid here? Thanks in advance

  • Powermock Slows Down Test Startup on Eclipse/Fedora 10 when on NTFS partition

    I've just started having a proper play with Powermock and noticed that it slows down test startup immensely. A quick look at top while it was running shows that mount.nfts-3g was taking up most of the CPU. I moved Eclipse and my source directory to ext3 partitions to see if that was a problem and the tests now startup quicker but there's still a noticeable delay. Is this normal with Powermock or am I missing something obvious?
