  • Editing true type fonts

    In typical Persian fonts which are True Type, there is a historical problem with yeh and kafs. These fonts are created for Windows 98, which didn't include full Persian support, and now, we have 2 kind of Kafs: Keheh(0x6a9, ?), and Arabic Kaf(0x643, ?), and 2 kind of Yehs: Farsi Yeh(0x6cc, ?), and Arabic Yeh(0x64a, ?). Old fonts use Arabic ones, but the standard keyboard for Persian uses the Persian ones of course. Is it possible to edit and fix these fonts? I've made many attempts to replace these characters with FontLab Studio, which I failed. Any suggestions?

  • Using Private Browsing keyboard shortcut with Firefox and Vimperator

    I am using Firefox 15.0 on OS X Mountain Lion alongside with vimperator. Note that I am using a Windows keyboard. CtrlP is for moving focus to left tab in vimperator. However, the latest Firefox has also CtrlP to enable private browsing. I looked for private browsing with FF "Customizable Shortcuts" addon but there is only CommandShiftP binding associated to it. How can the CtrlP private browsing binding be turned off?

    Can anyone recommend an iPhone app, for non-jailbroken devices, that can be used to remotely control Windows (7, if it matters) Media Center from outside the home WiFi network? The objective is to be able to connect to the Media Center box during the day when I am not home. For instance, if I realise that the new series of [insert very trendy new show here] is starting tonight and I hadn’t set up a series link I could fire up the app and set my machine to record it.   • linux nooB: Installing ffmpeg + dependencies on aws linux ami (repo issues)

    Im installing ffmpeg to run on an amazon linux ami, and have added the rpmforge repo and the dag repo. Here are some guidelines I'm using for reference: TWoZaO and Razuna The rpmforge repo has ffmpeg, but if you try to install it then it will complain that is missing dependencies (for me libSDL-1.2.so.0()(64bit)). Regardless I will install ffmpeg from svn so I can be sure to enable the options I want (namely libx264). It seems strange to me though that SDL is not in rpmforge or dag, and in according to both of my references above, it should be there.   • Problems linking to social networks in Windows 8

    I've upgraded my laptop to Windows 8 (from Windows 7) and I'm having problems with getting information to show in the People and Messaging apps. I've linked my Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts to my Live Id, and on Windows 7 I was able to see my Friends' facebook activity in Windows Live Messenger. In the Windows 8 People app I can see all my contacts from Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and I can see the on-line status of at least my Facebook contacts. I can also see the profiles details of each contact, but I don't get anything in the "What's New" view. The Messaging app is just blank. I assume I should be able to send messages to my contacts, but I can't see any way to do it. Am I missing something?

    I am in charge of a small office network that has < 10 users. I want to be able to offer them access to the network from their home internet connections. At the moment we have a regular ADSL-router-firewall to provide local network access and a fixed IP address. I know there are enterprise-level VPN solutions, but these obviously won't be available to us because of the cost and complexity. What small-scale solutions are around that you could recommend, what would we need to deploy on the client side, and what would the clients need to do to access the VPN? Simplicity and low cost need to be the keys here. Thanks

    Possible Duplicate: How do I change the Respond To for Group Email adresses in Notes 6.5 When I send an email from a group mail box the email shows my email address as the sender. I would like to hide my email and only show my name. I am using Notes 6.5. Could you please advise if there is a way to set up my client to do this. I want this so the receiver responds to the group email not my personal email as it may be that I am not the one to do the fillow up to the response. There are 10 people in the group email.

  • Virtual audio driver for Windows?

    Is there any (possibly free or open-source) virtual WDM audio driver for Windows, with additional processing plugins, which would add one more layer between windows applications and actual sound card's WDM audio driver, allowing to: Add software DSPs to general audio output. I would like to be able to use custom effects, like compressor, or stereophonic-to-binaural converter for listening online's streaming media on headphones, etc. Connect its output to some custom buffer instead of the sound card. For example, to be able to record audio, or to send audio via wireless connection to some other wireless source? Virtual audio driver was just my idea how to solve these issues - if you know other way, please share your knowledge. I need this for Windows 7 and/or Windows XP.

  • Simple image editor to select area of image as wallpaper

    I've spent way to many hours looking for software to do the following simple task, so now I'll ask. I need software that will open an image and put a 'crop box' on it. You can set the 'crop box' to standard screen resolutions (1024x768) or define a custom one. You can move the 'crop box' around on the image to select the area you want. You can re-size the 'crop box' (selecting a corner and dragging w/mouse) and it maintains the correct aspect ratio. You can save the area in the 'crop box' to use as the Windows background. (The software doesn't need to set it as the background, I can do that myself in Windows XP.) The free software sites (CNET.com, etc.) have lots of image editing software that do things much more complicated than this simple task. I've spent too many hours downloading them to see if they will do this particular task. The ones I've tried would require manual trial and error to get the part of an image that I want saved as an image, with the correct aspect ratio so Windows doesn't screw with it (stretch, tile, crop) when I select it as the wallpaper.

  • Sony Vaio Hard Drive replacement won't boot

    I'm working on a Sony Vaio VGN-CR120e. I've cloned the original SATA 1.5 drive with Norton Ghost on to 2 new hard drives, the second of which is a Seagate 7200.4 320Gb 7200 RPM, with the jumper set to limit to SATA 1.5. (The first drive is a WD Scorpio Black 320Gb 7200RMP, which has no SATA 1.5 override support). Neither of the cloned drives will boot - I immediately get a BlackSOD saying: "Windows failed to start blah blah blah" "File \Windows\system32\winload.exe" "Status: 0xc000000e" "Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt." I've done this hundreds of times on other PC's, and this is the first time I've encountered such an error. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to proceeed, as I would rather not reinstall Vista unless absolutely necessary.

  • Time Machine + Ubee Router?

    I can't for the life of me figure this out. I recently had TWC installed in my house, and wanted to disable the NAT and router functions of it. I have a Time Machine hooked up to it from LAN1 (on the Ubee) to the WAN port on the TM. The problems started occurring here. I figured the settings would be these: Ubee Configuration mode: Bridge DHCP: Off TM IPv4: 192.168.100.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router Address: 192.168.100.1 DNS Servers: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 Router Mode: DHCP and NAT But using those settings, my TM says "Double NAT", so I have to change it all around to the default settings of the Ubee using NAT. This leads me to believe bridge mode doesn't actually turn off NAT...

    I have a DNS server set up on one of my machines using BIND 9.7 Everything works fine with it. On my Windows 7 desktop, I have statically-assigned all network values. I have one DNS server set -- my DNS server. On my desktop, I can ping a third machine by IP fine. I can nslookup the hostname of the third machine fine. Quoted from How to Change the IP Range for the Internet Connection Sharing DHCP service Use Registry Editor to modify the data value of the IntranetInfo value in the following registry key: Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ICSharing\Settings\General The first number listed is the IP address of the internal IP address of the Connection Sharing host. The second number is the subnet IP address separated by a comma. Enter the first IP address of the new range followed by the subnet mask, separated by a comma. (For example, 169.254.0.1,255.255.0.0.). Modify the data value of the Start value in the following registry key: Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ICSharing\Addressing\Settings Change the value to the second address of the selected IP range. This address cannot be the same or a lower value than the IP address used for the IntranetInfo key. Modify the data value for the Stop value in the same registry key. Enter the last the IP address of the selected IP range. My registry table does not have Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ICSharing, and I don't know how to do with my registry table following the above three steps.   • Unconvert Text File from Binary Format

    I've got a rather large CSV file (~700MB) which I know to consist of lines of 27-character alpha-numeric hashes; no commas or anything fancy. Somehow, during its migration from Windows to Linux (via winSCP and then a few regular SCPs), it has converted into some kind of binary format I am unfamiliar with. If I open the file in vi, everything appears fine, and it says [converted] at the bottom, although I know it's not a line endings issue (and dos2unix doesn't help). If I 'head' the file, it looks proper except for a "ÿþ" at the beginning of the first line. If I open up the file in nano, however, I see the "ÿþ" at the start and then "^@" before every character (even newlines and EoF). If I try to re-save or copy the file (say via: head file.csv short.txt), this special encoding is preserved. I copied the first ten lines out of vi (which displays it properly) into my Windows clipboard via my SSH client, then pasted it into a new text file, test.txt. This file is visually identical when opened in vi (and similar through 'head', minus the "ÿþ"), although it's roughly half of the filesize. Additionally, file test.txt test.txt: ASCII text file short.txt short.txt: I have no idea what format this once-text file got converted to (it's notoriously hard to search the internet for symbols), but surely there must be some way to convert it back. Any ideas?

The documentation states that it allows multiple exchange accounts to be configured and that we could switch between the those accounts from the configuration.   • Getting Android drivers to work on Windows 8 Community Preview

    I made a post about this on android.stackexchange.com, and they referred me to here. I have an HTC Flyer and a Motorola Droid X, and for both, I've been unable to connect to USB debugging to do Android development. With the Motorola Droid X, the MotoHelper installer won't run, saying that I'm running an Unknown OS Version. With the HTC Flyer, HTC's Sync software installs successfully, but again the device doesn't connect. I realize that this is beta software, but is there anything that I can do to get this working? I've been relying on switching back to my laptop running Linux to test out my Android builds on the device. Of course, I'm not in any production environment - just playing around with the new OS, but not being able to write code on it makes less fun.

  • The executable is absent yet I can execute the command on the command line

    There's such utility for Windows developers called regtlib. I have three computers - one with WinXP, another two with Win2k3. If I run built-in Windows search for file with wildcard regtlib* on the whole filesystem search finds nothing on all three computers. If I try to execute regtlib on WinXP command line it says it can't find such a file or built-in command. The same on one of the two Win2k3 computers. But when I do that on the other Win2k3 computer I see typical regtlib output. What happens? What is the magic that invokes regtlib without the file being present on the filesystem?
