    I'm totally new to DirectX. I'm using SlimDX to create a texture consisting of 13046 DataRectangles. Here's my code.   • nvidia segfault crashes XServer (12.04 fresh install)

    I am on a fresh install of 12.04, and my video card is a Quadro FX 570, which appears to be supported (see output of unity_support_test below). But my Xserver crashes randomly and causes my session to just shutdown and bring me back to the logging screen. This happens several times per hour.   • Evaluating Scrum - is it okay to have people with multiple roles in a Scrum team?

    I'm evaluating some Agile-style methodologies for possible introduction to my team. With Scrum, is it allowable to have the same person perform multiple roles? We have a small team of four developers and a web designer; we don't really have a lead (I fulfill this role), QA testers or business analysts, and all of our development tasks come from the CIO. Automated testing is seen as a total waste of time, and everything focuses on speed and not quality. What will happen is the CIO will come up with a development task (whether a feature or a bug) and give it to a developer (not to the whole team, to an individual, often in private or out of the blue) who is then expected to get it completed. The CIO doesn't gather requirements beyond the initial idea (and this has bitten us before as we'll implement something only to find out that none of the end users can use the feature, because they weren't consulted or even informed about it before we developed it, and in a panic we'll be told to revert the change) but requires say in/approval of everything that we do. First things first, is a Scrum style something to consider to introduce some standards and practices? From reading, Scrum seems to rely on a bit more trust and communication and focuses more on project management than on development, which is something we are completely devoid of as we don't have any semblance of project management at present. Second, if it can work is it unreasonable for someone, let's say myself, to act as both ScrumMaster and a developer? Or for a developer to also be the Product Owner (although chances are this will be the CIO, who isn't a developer)? I realize the Scrum Master and the Product Owner should be different people but at the same time I don't think we have anyone who has the qualities of a Product Owner (chances are it would turn into a "I need all these stories, I don't care how but get it done" type of deal and/or any freeze would be unfrozen on a whim). It seems to me that I might need to pick and choose pieces of Scrum/XP/Lean to compensate for how things are done currently, as it's highly unlikely that the mentality can be changed; for instance Pair Programming would never fly (seen as a waste, you get half the tasks done if you need two people for everything), TDD would be a hard sell, but short cycles would be welcomed.

    In InfoPath 2010 , you can only use VSTO to write code for your form. However , when you try to debug you will see no attach to process option in the VSTO Project. In order to debug your InfoPath form , you have to do the following steps and debug using Visual Studio 2010. However , if you are not using InfoPath form services with SharePoint2010 and only using InfoPath Filler , you can see how to debug here. 1. You need to go to VSTO Project properties >> Build >> Advanced option >> Set the debug info to Full. (As shown below.) 2.Republish your form,this will rebuild your VSTO Project using the new build configurations. 3. Deploy the infopath form from the central admin and activate your form template to a site collection. If you have already deployed the form before , you need to do some clean up steps :     a.Delete all the infopath forms from the form library where you use your infopath form template as a content type     b.Remove the contentType from this form library     c.Deactivate the contype feature from the site collection features.     d.Delete the infopath form template from the central admin     e.Upload the new form template from from the central admin , you need to uncheck Upgrade the form template if it already exists     f.Activate the form template to the site collection and asscociate the contentType with your form library again. If the Above steps does not work , you need to delete the site collection and create a new one. 4. Open the FormCode.cs file you would like to debug in Visual studio 2010(just the file not the whole project),attach the w3wp.exe processes and set a breakpoint in the FormEvents_Loading event. Now if you add a new form to the form liabrary , the breakpoint should be hit.(See screenshot below) As mentioned above , if it does not hit.You might need to delete the site collection and create a new one.Delete the form template and reupload it again remember to uncheck Upgrade the form template if it already exists .Then you should be able to debug your infopath form.I do not see why debugging in InfoPath2010 is so much harder,but here we go.Happy SharePointing and InfoPathing .

I will use an external library,called Tablesorter which makes life so much easier for developers. ?here are other posts in my blog regarding JQuery.You can find them all here. You can also use Visual Studio 2012 Express Edition. You can also use VS 2010 editions.   1) Launch Visual Studio. Create an ASP.Net Empty Web application. Choose an appropriate name for your application. 2) Add a web form, default.aspx page to the application. 3) Add a table from the HTML controls tab control (from the Toolbox) on the default.aspx page 4) Now we need to download the JQuery library. Please visit the http://jquery.com/ and download the minified version.Then we need to download the Tablesorter JQuery plugin. Please donwload it, here. 5) We need to reference the JQuery library and the external JQuery Plugin.     I mean real bare bones, bare machine here(no Linux kernel, pre-existing kernel, or any bootloader). I mean honestly write the bootloading software in direct microarchitecture-specific machine opcode, host the operating system, interrupts, I/O, services, and graphical software and all hardware interaction, computation, and design entirely in binary. I know this is quite the leap here, but I was thinking to practice first in x86 assembly (not binary) 16-bit style. Any ideas?

    I've been able to set several keybord shortcuts for a GtkTextView and a GtkTextEntry using the new css provider system. I'm finding, though, that I only seem to be able to establish keybindings for combinations including a modifier key. The widget doesn't respond to any bindings I set up that use: the delete key the escape key individual letter or punctuation keys alone Here's the code where I set up the css provider for the keybindings: #set up style context keys = Gtk.CssProvider() keys.load_from_path(os.path.join(data_path, 'keybindings.css')) #set up style contexts and css providers widgets = {'window': self.window, 'vbox': self.vbox, 'toolbar': self.toolbar, 'search_entry': self.search_entry, 'paned': self.paned, 'notelist_treeview': self.notelist_treeview, 'notelist_window': self.notelist_window, 'notetext_window': self.notetext_window, 'editor': self.editor, 'statusbar': self.statusbar } for l, w in widgets.iteritems(): w.get_style_context().add_provider(keys, Gtk.STYLE_PROVIDER_PRIORITY_USER) Then in keybindings.css this is an example of what works: @binding-set gtk-vi-text-view { bind "<ctrl>b" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, -5, 0) }; /* 5 lines up */ bind "<ctrl>k" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, -1, 0) }; /* down */ bind "<ctrl>j" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, 1, 0) }; /* up */ } Part of what I'm trying to do is just add proper delete-key function to the text widgets (right now the delete key does nothing at all). I want to set up something like Vim's command and visual modes. So far there's no response from the escape key or from the letter keys, even though the bindings work when I apply them to modifier-key combinations. For example, I do this in the css for the text-widget: bind "j" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, 1, 0) }; /* down */ bind "k" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, -1, 0) }; /* up */ bind "l" { "move-cursor" (logical-positions, 1, 0) }; /* right */ bind "h" { "move-cursor" (logical-positions, -1, 0) }; /* left */ but none of these bindings does anything, even if other bindings in the same set are respected. What's especially odd is that the vim-like movement bindings above are respected when I attach them to a GtkTreeView widget for navigating the tree-view options: @binding-set gtk-vi-tree-view { bind "j" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, 1) }; /* selection down */ bind "k" { "move-cursor" (display-lines, -1) }; /* selection up */ } So it seems like there are limitations or overrides of some kind on keybindings for the TextView widget (and for the del key?), but I can't find documentation of anything like that. Are these just things that can't be done with the css providers? If so, what are my alternatives for non-modified keybindings? Thanks.

I will be writing more posts regarding the most commonly used JQuery Plugins. I have been using extensively this plugin in my websites.You can show a portion of a set of images with previous and next navigation.In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like.You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition.
