• Session Cookies and IE 8

  I recently built a simple web-app deployed over Tomcat. The app uses pretty standard session based security where a user who has logged in is given a session. Sessions work fine in Firefox and Chrome, but require the use of jsessionid in the URL for IE (tested 7 & 8), set to medium privacy. In IE 8, I tried to override cookie handling, setting "Allow all 3rd party cookies" and "Allow all session cookies"- no dice. However, when I run Tomcat on my local machine, IE accepts the cookie, and sessions work just fine. And now, for the HTTP headers. • Android JSON HttpClient to send data to PHP server with HttpResponse

  I am currently trying to send some data from and Android application to a php server (both are controlled by me). There is alot of data collected on a form in the app, this is written to the database. This all works. • Trouble determining proper decoding of a REST response from an ArcGIS REST service using IHttpModule

  First a little background on what I am trying to achieve. I have an application that is utilizing REST services served by ArcGIS Server and IIS7. The REST services return data in one of several different formats. I am requesting a JSON response. I want to be able to modify the response (remove or add parameters) before the response is sent to the client. However, I am having difficulty converting the stream to a string that I can modify. To that end, I have implemented the following code in order to try to inspect the stream. • Delphi 7 SOAP Authentication and SessionID HowTo

  Hello All, I am developing a 3 tier database application. 1.) MS SQL DB 2.) Middle tier SOAP Server (with Delphi 7) connected to the DB 3.) Clients (first win32 gui (with Delphi 7) - later other platfomrs) connected to the SOAP server I chose a SOAP Server to be open to various clients at a later stage (also some of the win32 gui clients will be stationed abroad - so the clients need to be thin) (this as suggested by Dr. Bob). I am new to SOAP and have been looking at different examples and papers about authentication. But cant quite get my head around it. I have made a SOAP server and client with Delphi's SOAP Server Application Wizard and added a SOAP SERVER Data Module, added a database connection and some datasets and providers. Connected the client with dbgrid etc and that part works fine. But I want the client first to login and then be able to access data and I want the server to log each connection and also when the client logs off or is disconnected, so I am guessing I need the sessionID and a timeout. I also want the server to be able to tell the clients who else is "connected" (or whos session is still active) at any given time. I have gathered that I need to make a authentication header, but cant figure out where or who I can get a sessionID. I presume that each time a client connectes to the server the server generates a sessionID? How do I get this? In this case H is nil and the result becomes 'No authentication header received from server'. If I intersept the SOAP xml I can see that the header is there, here is the returned package: 1 1 4208687 2010-05-14T10:03:49.469+03:00 true Anyone any idea? In this case I am not using the SOAPConnetion that I am using for the DB, but a seperate HTTPTRIO component.

• Windows CE Programming Serial Port - Getting Garbled Output

  I am programming a Windows CE 6 device (Motorola MC3100 scanner Terminal). Using Lazarus FPC to compile it. After 3 weeks work I reluctantly post here in the hope someone can suggest why I am getting garbled output from the serial port. The code I am using is posted below. This is the standard code I have found from several places. The OpenPort works OK. When I send the string using SendString('ABCDEF') I get garbled input to the PC Serial port such as: 4[#131][#26][#0][#0][#0][#0] (the bracketed data indicates that it is a non-printable character ASCII Code) Obviously it is connecting to the port OK AND it is sending the correct no of characters (7). I have tried all combinations of Baud Rate, Data Bits, Parity and Stop Bits without any joy. Also tried changing cable, on a different PC etc. Could it be I need to set something else in the DCB? • Deploying an HttpHandler web service

  I am trying to build a webservice that manipulates http requests POST and GET. Most online references show making a website, but really, all I want to do is respond when an HttpPost is sent. I don't know what to put in the website, just want that code to run. Edit: I am following this site as its exactly what I'm trying to do. I have the website set up, I have the code for the handler in a .cs file, i have edited the web.config to add the handler for the file extension I need. Now I am at the step 3 where you tell IIS about this extension and map it to ASP.NET. Also I am using IIS 7 so interface is slightly different than the screenshots. This is the problem I have: 1) Go to website 2) Go to handler mappings 3) Go Add Script Map 4) request path - put the extension I want to handle 5) Executable- it seems i am told to set aspnet_isapi.dll here. Maybe this is incorrect? 6) Give name 7) Hit OK button: Add Script Map Do you want to allow this ISAPI extension? Click "Yes" to add the extension with an "Allowed" entry to the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions list or to update an existing extension entry to "Allowed" in the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions list. Yes No Cancel 8) Hit Yes Add Script Map The specified module required by this handler is not in the modules list. If you are adding a script map handler mapping, the IsapiModule or the CgiModule must be in the modules list. OK edit 2: Have just figured out that that managed handler had something to do with handlers witten in managed code, script map was to help configuring an executable and module mapping to work with http Modules. So I should be using option 1 - Add Managed Handler. See: http://yfrog.com/11managedhandlerp I know what my request path is for the file extension... and I know name (can call it whatever I like), so it must be the Type field I am struggling with. In the applications folder (in IIS) so far I just have the MyHandler.cs and web.config (Of course also a file with the extension I am trying to create the handler for!) edit3: progress So now I have the code and the web.config set up I test to see If I can browse to the filename.CustomExtension file: HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map. So in IIS7 I go to Handler Mappings and add it in. • How to pass user-defined structs using boost mpi

  I am trying to send a user-defined structure named ABC using boost::mpi::send () call. The given struct contains a vector "data" whose size is determined at runtime. Objects of struct ABC are sent by master to slaves. But the slaves need to know the size of vector "data" so that the sufficient buffer is available on the slave to receive this data. I can work around it by sending the size first and initialize sufficient buffer on the slave before receiving the objects of struct ABC. But that defeats the whole purpose of using STL containers. Does anyone know of a better way to do handle this ? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Here is a sample code that describes the intent of my program. • Curl Certificate Error when Using RVM to install Ruby 1.9.2

  RVM is running into a certificate error when trying to download ruby 1.9.2. It looks like curl is having a certificate issue but I am not sure how to bypass it. NAy help would be great. • Is the Cloud ready for an Enterprise Java web application? Seeking a JEE hosting advice.

  Greetings to all the smart people around here! I'd like to ask whether it is feasible or a good idea at all to deploy a Java enterprise web application to a Cloud such as Amazon EC2. More exactly, I'm looking for infrastructure options for an application that shall handle few hundred users with long but neither CPU nor memory intensive sessions. I'm considering dedicated servers, virtual private servers (VPSs) and EC2. I've noticed that there is a project called JBoss Cloud so people are working on enabling such a deployment, on the other hand it doesn't seem to be mature yet and I'm not sure that the cloud is ready for this kind of applications, which differs from the typical cloud-based applications like Twitter. Would you recommend to deploy it to the cloud? What are the pros and cons? The application is a Java EE 5 web application whose main function is to enable users to compose their own customized Product by combining the available Parts. It uses stateless and stateful session beans and JPA for persistence of entities to a RDBMS and fetches information about Parts from the company's inventory system via a web service. Aside of external users it's used also by few internal ones, who are authenticated against the company's LDAP. The application should handle around 300-400 concurrent users building their product and should be reasonably scalable and available though these qualities are only of a medium importance at this stage. I've proposed an architecture consisting of a firewall (FW) and load balancer supporting sticky sessions and https (in the Cloud this would be replaced with EC2's Elastic Load Balancing service and FW on the app. servers, in a physical architecture the load-balancer would be a HW), then two physical clustered application servers combined with web servers (so that if one fails, a user doesn't loose his/her long built product) and finally a database server. The DB server would need a slave backup instance that can replace the master instance if it fails. This should provide reasonable availability and fault tolerance and provide good scalability as long as a single RDBMS can keep with the load, which should be OK for quite a while because most of the operations are done in the memory using a stateful bean and only occasionally stored or retrieved from the DB and the amount of data is low too. A problematic part could be the dependency on the remote inventory system webservice but with good caching of its outputs in the application it should be OK too. Unfortunately I've only vague idea of the system resources (memory size, number and speed of CPUs/cores) that such an "average Java EE application" for few hundred users needs. My rough and mostly unfounded estimate based on actual Amazon offerings is that 1.7GB and a single, 2-core "modern CPU" with speed around 2.5GHz (the High-CPU Medium Instance) should be sufficient for any of the two application servers (since we can handle higher load by provisioning more of them). Alternatively I would consider using the Large instance (64b, 7.5GB RAM, 2 cores at 1GHz) So my question is whether such a deployment to the cloud is technically and financially feasible or whether dedicated/VPS servers would be a better option and whether there are some real-world experiences with something similar. • Problem Implementing StructureMap in VB.Net Conversion of SharpArchitecture

  I work in a VB.Net environment and have recently been tasked with creating an MVC enviroment to use as a base to work from. I decided to convert the latest SharpArchitecture release (Q3 2009) into VB, which on the whole has gone fine after a bit of hair pulling. I came across a problem with Castle Windsor where my custom repository interface (lives in the core/domain project) that was reference in the constructor of my test controller was not getting injected with the concrete implementation (from the data project). I hit a brick wall with this so basically decided to switch out Castle Windsor for StructureMap. I think I have implemented this ok as everything compiles and runs and my controller ran ok when referencing a custom repository interface. It appears now that I have/or cannot now setup my generic interfaces up properly (I hope this makes sense so far as I am new to all this). • Rails & combo box change event: Help make this obtrusive javascript unobtrusive

  Ok so a friend of mine gave some help with a prototype/obtrusive solution to this but its not quite there. Also, I want to make this unobtrusive instead of using the observe_field function that rails gives me. I don't want to use prototype either because I'm more familiar with JQuery. Here's my problem: I have an Event that can have multiple ServiceTypes and a ServiceType can belong to many Events. A many-to-many relationship between these two exists as an OfferedService. When creating an event, I have a drop down with a list of TimeAllotments that are something like 10 minutes, 12 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes etc. When the user selects one of these choices, I want a div tag to be filled with a list of ServiceTypes that are associated with this TimeAllotment. So for example, the user selects "10 minutes" and then the div repopulates with services that last 10 minutes. I have a new.js.erb but it doesn't get loaded when calling the new action. I'm super lost as far as getting JQuery to work with my application. I think that if someone can just show me how to make an alert pop up when I change the combo box, and how to return a dataset using ajax the right now, I think I can figure out the rest. Obviously, iPhone SDK is using the standard open Zlib. My doubt is that the parameter for inflateInit2 is not appropriate here. • swfobject weird behavior

  Hi All, I'm using swfobject to embed my flash. It's doing weird things. I've created a simple textfield using FlexBuilder. It's an AS3 project, which extends Sprite. I've set its width to be 640 and height to 450. Then, in the swfobject parameters of the page, I've also set 640 x 450. I've made the background nice and red and ugly so you can see it. :) http://www.brighttext.com/flash/TextFieldSetFormat.html It seems to be the right dimensions. BUT I've got a textfield which is supposed to be almost the same size and height. This runs fine in FlexBuilder (is the right size) but is all messed up once I add swfobject Can anyone see what is happening? EDIT NOTE: I just looked at it and it looks ok. But then I refreshed the page and the textfield is postage-stamp size (again -- this is the original behavior I saw.) It's now looking OK in firefox but not in IE8. • Using boost locks for RAII access to a semaphore

  Suppose I write a C++ semaphore class with an interface that models the boost Lockable concept (i.e. lock(); unlock(); try_lock(); etc.). Is it safe/recommended to use boost locks for RAII access to such an object? In other words, do boost locks (and/or other related parts of the boost thread library) assume that the Lockable concept will only be modeled by mutex-like objects which are locked and unlocked from the same thread? My guess is that it should be OK to use a semaphore as a model for Lockable. I've browsed through some of the boost source and it "seems" OK. The locks don't appear to store explicit references to this_thread or anything like that. Moreover, the Lockable concept doesn't have any function like whichThreadOwnsMe(). It also looks like I should even be able to pass a boost::unique_lock<MySemaphore> reference to boost::condition_variable_any::wait. However, the documentation is not explicitly clear about the requirements. Basically, I'm splitting one task into two parts. And the reason I'm splitting the task up is because (1) I want the first part of the task to get started as soon as possible, (2) I want to guarantee that the first part is complete before doTask() returns, and (3) I want the second, more time-consuming part of the task to be completed by another thread, possibly chosen from a pool of slave threads that are waiting around to finish tasks that have been started by master threads. NOTE: I recently posted this same question (sort of) here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2754884/unlocking-a-mutex-from-a-different-thread-c but I confused mutexes with semaphores, and so the question about using boost locks didn't really get addressed.

The first time the program sends the data and the program receives data is ok. However, if I read again or even re-write the new data into the serial port, the return data is always null until I stop the virtual serial port and start it again, then the write and read data is ok, but still, only one time. (In the real case, the sending part will be done by another device, I am just taking care of the reading data from the serial port. I wrote both parts just to test my reading code.) Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks a lot.

  hi guys, I have to create a script that takes a mySQL table, and exports it into .XSL format, and then saves that file into a specified folder on the web host. I got it working, but now I can't seem to get it to automatically save the file to the location without prompting the user. It needs to run every day at a specified time, so it can save the previous days leads into a .XSL file on the web host.   Ok, I'm frustrated! I've hunted around for a good number of hours and am still stumped. Environment: WinXP, Eclipse Galileo 3.5 (straight install - no extra plugins). So, I have a simple JUnit test. It runs fine from it's internal Eclipse JUnit run configuration. This class has no dependencies on anything. Now my JOptionPane opens new window with envelope overfiew, but I can't change size of this window. Also I wanted to have sender's data in upper left corner, and receiver's data in bottom right. How can I achieve that ? There is also issue with OptionPane itself. After I click 'OK' it opens small window in the upper left corner of the screen. What is this and why it's appearing ? • MySQL: Creating table with FK error (errno 150)

  I've tried searching on this error and nothing I've found helps me, so I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate and I'm just too dumb to find it. I've created a model with MySQL Workbench and am now attempting to install it to a mysql server. Using File Export Forward Engineer SQL CREATE Script... it outputs a nice big file for me, with all the settings I ask for. I switch over to MySQL GUI Tools (the Query Browser specifically) and load up this script (note that I'm going form one official MySQL tool to another). However, when I try to actually execute this file, I get the same error over and over SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1005 Can't create table './srs_dev/location.frm' (errno: 150) "OK", I say to myself, something is wrong with the location table. So I check out the definition in the output file. I surmise that maybe something is wrong with the Query Browser, so I put this file on the server and try to load it this way ] mysql -u admin -p -D dbname < path/to/create_file.sql And I get the same error. So I start to Google this issue and find all kinds of accounts that talk about an error with InnoDB style tables that fail with foreign keys, and the fix is to add "SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;" to the SQL script. Well, as you can see, that's already part of the file that MySQL Workbench spat out. So, my question is then, why is this not working when I'm doing what I think I'm supposed to be doing?
