• Flash and Google Maps - Only Last Icon showing

  I have a simple Map and geocoding sample in Flash using CS4 The problem is simple - I can retrieve a short list from the google search api, but when I try to generate the icons on the map using a loop, only the last icon is displayed. (ignore the house icon, it is generated earlier) I feel I am missing something or made a stupid AS3 mistake (like treating it as if it was c#) - or even a stupid wood-for-the-trees mistake. The problem is in the last line of the code. I have added all my code just in case somebody else can find a use for it - lord knows it took me a great while to figure this out :) It runs here (also, if anybody has an idea why the icon is slightly in the wrong place on render, but corrects if you move the map - please let me know) Any help would be great. • Visualising a 'Smarties' lid using XAML (WPF/Silverlight, Visual Studio/Blend)

  Hi folks, First off, to clarify something in the title which could well be ambiguous/misleading, I'd like to inform you of my definition of 'Smarties', as I know often products are available all over - only under a different alias. Smarties are a candy product in the UK, little chocolate drops covered in a crispy shell which are distributed in a card tube, this tube used to have a plastic lid/top with an individual letter on the underside (they've taken a more economical approach as of late), the lid/top of the old-style tube is the main element of this question. Familiarisation Link Lid View Link Okay, now with the seller-type pitch out of the way (no, I don't work for Nestlé ;)), hopefully the question is becoming rather clear. Essentially, I'd like to recreate one of these lids using XAML, ultimately to be utilised in a Silverlight web application. That is, I'd like to result in a reusable control, of which the following is true: It looks like a Smarties lid. The colour can be specified. The letter can be specified. The control can be rotated to display either side. The second two seem trivial, but we must bare in mind that the background colour specified will almost, if not always, be the same as the foreground, leaving a visibility issue where the character content is concerned; as for the rotation, I'm hoping this kind of functionality is reasonably available, and acceptable to implement. The particular barrier for me here is 'pathing' the tab of the lid, as you will see in the XAML as an element commented out. Should Path be used, or would it be more appropriate to transform a rectangle with rounded corners, or any specific suggestions? Bevelling the individually displayed letter; as detailed above, when the colour of both the foreground and background are the same then this will be invisible if no effects are applied, also for a decent level of realism I'd like to be able to apply such an effect/s. So far use of DropShadow and Balder3DEngine have fulfilled my requirements for graphics in XAML, how achievable is a bevel effect? Rotating the control on mouse-click, that is, showing the opposing face. Is this going to be possible using a style and XAML only for the design? Or is it that ugliness may rear it's head in the form of code-behind to show/hide embedded controls? Should the faces be separate controls and later somehow combined? Allowing the control to size dynamically. I'm supposing I will be able to convert a solid, absolute layout to a nice generic one when I actually have the former in place. Obviously this entails sizing the centralised letter and the lid 'tab', but that's it really, other than keeping the aspect ratio equal (since the ellipses grow nicely with the grid). Any suggestions to approaching this would be greatly appreciated, particularly with a dynamically growing font - I've done that before in a web-imaging scenario using code and System.Drawing, and wouldn't like to approach it in even a similar way. By the way, the reason I specify both WPF and Silverlight is that, from my current knowledge, the inputs being written targeting either of these will be fairly transferable for similar output by the other, albeit not without alterations in either scenario. The resulting application is in fact destined to be written in Silverlight, however, so I don't fancy inviting anything from WPF which will guarantee my only being able to convert 90% of it. I'll go give this little project a start, maybe in Blend(?), hopefully can catch up with some advice shortly. • How do I remedy "Error: Cannot find module 'child-process-close'"?

  I was going about business as usual and about to checkout generator-angular-fullstack. I got no red errors but a message a the end saying Error: Cannot find module 'child-process-close'. I tried many a-thing–uninstalling node, reinstalling, manually getting rid of files and directories in local and/or global paths and tried to make sure Homebrew was the one who installed everything and somehow I've made things worse. (Also, I initially saw errors regarding karma. Everything looked right but it doesn't seem I did any good by throwing commands at it.) I am at a loss. All the stackoverflow questions have been clicked and I'm afraid I've probably tried too many of the suggestions. I cannot install any Yeoman generator. I cannot install anything with npm. When inside the project directory when I run npm install it throws the error. I really have no clue. Is there a way I can basically start over all together? A simple uninstall and install isn't cutting it. Something in the system needs to change but I don't know what. Any ideas?

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "RemoteOnly". To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines, please set "mode" to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. • C# WebBrowser.ShowPrintDialog() not showing

  I have this peculiar problem while wanting to print a html-report. The file itself is a normal local html file, located on my hard drive. To do this, I have tried the following: public static void PrintReport(string path) { WebBrowser wb = new WebBrowser(); wb.Navigate(path); wb.ShowPrintDialog() } And I have this form with a button with the click event: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string path = @"D:\MyReport.html"; PrintReport(path); } This does absolutely nothing. Which is kind of strange... but things get stranger... When editing the print function to do the following: public static void PrintReport(string path) { WebBrowser wb = new WebBrowser(); wb.Navigate(path); MessageBox.Show("TEST"); wb.ShowPrintDialog() } It works. Yes, only adding a MessageBox. The MessageBox is showing and after it comes the print dialog. I have also tried with Thread.Sleep(1000) instead, which doesn't work. Can anyone explain to me what's going on here? Why would a messagebox make any difference? Can it be some kind of permission problem? I've reproduced this on both Windows 7 and 8, same thing. I made this small application with only the above code to isolate the problem. I am quite sure it works on windows XP though, since an older version of the application I'm working on runs on it. When trying to do this directly with the mshtml-dll instead I also get problems. Any input or clarification is greatly appreciated!

• MSDeploy doesn't deploy to remote server using MSBuild and Visual Studio 2010

  I'm currently running Visual Studio Team System 2010 RC and I'm trying to get the Build Service setup to build my solution and deploy 3 web applications in it. I've created a custom build configuration called Integration and I've setup the "IIS Web site/application name to use on the destination server" on the Package/Publish tab of the Properties for each of the web applications. In my Build Definition I've set the following arguments: /p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:DeployTarget=MSDeployPublish /p:MSDeployPublishMethod=InProc /p:MsDeployServiceUrl=http://my-server-name:8172/msdeploy.axd /p:EnablePackageProcessLoggingAndAssert=True However, when I run the build I get the following error, for all three web applications: Updating setAcl (RightContent). C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets(3481,5): error : Web deployment task failed. (Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.) I don't think this is my actual problem though. This error is occuring after the following entry in the log: Updating setAcl This is what's causing the error message, but it appears that MSDeploy is trying to deploy to the local IIS on the Build server, not the server I specified with the MsDeployServiceUrl parameter. After looking at the targets file at C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets, I added the EnablePackageProcessLoggingAndAssert, which adds extra logging. The log shows an emptry string for the value of MsDeployServiceUrl. I also noticed in the target that MsDeployServiceUrl has a lowercase s, which is somewhat confusing because the task name MSDeployPublish has an uppercase S. I tried using it using uppercase, then again using lowercase, but neither worked. A couple other things to note: My build service is running as NETWORK SERVICE. The server I'm trying to deploy to is on another domain. I also tried adding /p:username=mydomain\myusername /p:password=mypassword to the MSBuild paramter list, but that didn't help. Does anyone know if I'm supplying the correct parameters? Or provide me with the correct ones? Thanks

  I've created CustomTabItem which inherits from TabItem and i'd like to use it while binding ObservableCollection in TabControl <TabControl ItemsSource="{Binding MyObservableCollection}"/> It should like this in XAML, but i do not know how change default type of the output item created by TabControl while binding. I've tried to create converter, but it has to do something like this inside convertin method: List<CustomTabItem> resultList = new List<CustomTabItem>(); And iterate through my input ObservableCollection, create my CustomTab based on item from collection and add it to resultList... I'd like to avoid it, bacause while creating CustomTabItem i'm creating complex View and it takes a while, so i don't want to create it always when something change in binded collection. My class extends typical TabItem and i'd like to use this class in TabControl instead of TabItem. <TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:CustomTabItem}"> <Setter Property="MyProperty" Value="{Binding xxx}"/> </Style> </TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> Code above generates error that Style cannot be applied to TabItem. • Weird vps server issue

  I have an unmanaged linux vps Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot). I have LNMP installed. Also php-fpm php-apc, varnish, memcache. I have (or rather had) several live sites on it. under normal load the server uses ~700 mb memory. But since last night its using only 20mb~ memory and a lot of the services seems to be down (according to htop) I only see nginx working and mysql starts up and goes does every few minutes on a loop. • setup proxy app.config in .net

  I am having much problems setting up the proxy through app.config. I want 2 ip address to go through my proxy on my local computer. From what i can tell i need to set a proxy then set a bypass list. So i figure .* will match everything and i'll just remove the two i want. So i wrote the below and the 2 ip address (i realize the 2nd is a range) is being bypassed. Maybe i need to more the add to the end? the address are still being bypassed. • ASP.NET PowerShell Impersonation

  I have developed an ASP.NET MVC Web Application to execute PowerShell scripts. I am using the VS web server and can execute scripts fine. However, a requirement is that users are able to execute scripts against AD to perform actions that their own user accounts are not allowed to do. Therefore I am using impersonation to switch the identity before creating the PowerShell runspace: Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(config); var currentuser = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name; if (runspace.RunspaceStateInfo.State == RunspaceState.BeforeOpen) { runspace.Open(); } I have tested using a domain admin account and I get the following exception when calling runspace.Open(): Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed. The web application is running in full trust and I have explicitly added the account I am using for impersonation to the local administrators group of the machine (even though the domain admins group was already there). I'm using advapi32.dll LogonUser call to perform the impersonation in a similar way to this post (http://blogs.msdn.com/webdav_101/archive/2008/09/25/howto-calling-exchange-powershell-from-an-impersonated-thead.aspx) Any help appreciated as this is a bit of a show stopper at the moment. • Maven error: Unable to get resource / Server redirected too many times

  Our proxy went down and I tried to update dependencies with maven while it was off. Since then I can't download anything with maven. I get this error for everything. I tried -U option, deleting my local repository and tried different maven version (2.0.9, 2.2.1) but it doesn't work. Any idea how to solve this? Earlier it also said 'repository will be blacklisted' to all of them. • IIS7 Mixed Mode Authentication

  We're getting ready to start migrating some of our IIS6 sites to IIS7, and the application currently uses Forms Authentication. We have started getting some requests from various sites to use the Windows Authentication for the users. While this is easy enough to implement (and I've shown internally that there is no issue with the app, as expected) the question then is how to continue to keep Forms authentication for when Integrated Windows doesn't work. I've seen several walkthroughs on how to have it configured on IIS6, and I could do the same thing on IIS7, but then I have to turn on Classic Mode processing. Any solution should also be back portable to IIS6, if possible, to keep the build tree simple. So what are my options on this? Do I setup the app with Integrated Windows Authentication in IIS7, Forms Auth in the web.config, and redirect 401 errors to an "error page" allowing them to login using forms, then back to the regular app? The case when Forms is likely to be needed is going to be reserved for Contract workers, our support staff, and if someone needs to access it on their site from their Extranet. So primarily it's for our staff to login to check functionality and confirm bug reports. I suggested we just maintain that for our support staff to work, we need a Windows login that will always be live, and then we'll just enforce local responsibility on who can login to the site, but I'm told that we would do better to have Forms Authentication. Any thoughts? I can post some of the links of the articles I've already read through if that would help the forum better narrow my needs. Many thanks. tl;dr: How to do mixed mode authentication (forms, windows) in IIS7 without changing to classic pipeline and still be able to use the build in IIS6 if possible.

• Random DNS Client Issue with BIND9/Windows Server 2003 DNS

  Within our office, we have a local server running DNS, for internal related "domains", (e.g. .internal, .office, .lan, .vpn, etc.). Randomly, only the hosts configured with those extensions will stop resolving on the Windows-based workstations. Sometimes it'll work for a couple weeks without issue on one machine, then suddenly stop working, or it'll happen on another 15 times per day. It's completely random for all workstations. When troubleshooting, I have opened up a command prompt, and issued various nslookup commands for some of these hosts, and they resolve, however I've been told that nslookup uses different "libraries" for name resolution than other applications such as web browsers, email clients, etc. The only solution thus far, is manually restarting the Windows DNS Client on each workstation when this happens. Issuing the ipconfig /flushdns command multiple times helps every now and then, but is not successful enough to even attempt before restarting the DNS Client. I have tried two different DNS servers; BIND9, and Windows Server 2003 R2 DNS, and the behavior is the same. We have a single Netgear JGS524 switch all workstations and servers are connected to within the office, and a Linksys SR224G switch in another department with workstations attached.

• ObservableCollection is not updating Multibinding in C# WPF

  I have a TreeView that creates all its items from databound ObservableCollections. I have a hierarchy of GameNode objects, each object has two ObservableCollections. One collections has EntityAttrib objects and the other have GameNode objects. You could say that the GameNode object represents folders and EntityAttrib represents files. To display both attrib and GameNodes in the same TreeView I use Multibinding. This all works fine in startup, but when I add a new GameNode somewhere in the hierarchy the TreeView is not updated. I set a breakpoint in my converter method but it's not called when adding a new GameNode. It seems that the ObservableCollection is not notifying the MultiBinding of the change. If I comment out the MultiBinding and only bind the GameNode collection it works as expected.   I am on centos5. I installed python26 source with a make altinstall. Then I did a: yum install qt4 yum install qt4-devel yum install qt4-doc From riverbankcomputing.co.uk I downloaded the source for sip 4.10.2, compiled and installed fine. Then from the same site I downloaded and compiled from source PyQt-x11-4.7.3 Both installs were using the python26 version (/usr/local/bin/python2.6). So configure.py, make, and make install worked with no errors. • Can't run ASP.NET MVC 2 web app on IIS 7.5

  I'm trying to run an ASP.NET MVC 2 web application under IIS on Windows 7, but I get a 403.14 error. Here are the steps to reproduce: Open Visual Studio 2010 Create a new ASP.NET MVC 2 project called MvcApplication1 Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost:{random_port}/ and the page will render correctly. Click on MvcApplication1, and select "Properties". Go to the "Web" section. Select "Use Local IIS Web server" and create a virtual directory. Save. Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost/MvcApplication1/ and an IIS error HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.. It's clear that for whatever reason, ASP.NET routing is not working correctly. Things I've already thought of and tried: Verified that all IIS features are enabled in "Turn Windows features on or off". Verified that the default website is configured to use .NET 4.0 Reassigned ASP.NET v4 scripmaps via aspnet_regiis -i in the v4.0.30319 directory. Here's the most amazing part - this is on a just-built machine. New copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, clean install of Visual Studio 2010 Premium, no other websites and no other work performed. Anything else I can try?

• TF203015 The Item $/path/file has an incompatible pending change. While trying to unshelve.

  I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Pro against Team Server 2010 and I had my project opened (apparently) as a solution from the repo, but I should've opened it as "web site". I found this out during compile, so I went to shelve my new changes and deleted the project from my local disk, then opened the project again from source (this time as web site) and now I can't unshelve my files. Is there any way to work around this? Did I blow something up? Do I need to do maintenance at the server? I found this question on SO #2332685 but I don't know what cache files he's talking about (I'm on XP :\ ) EDIT: Found this link after posting the question, sorry for the delay in researching, still didn't fix my problem Of course I can't find an error code for TF203015 anywhere, so no resolution either (hence my inclusion of the number in the title, yeah?) EDIT: I should probably mention that these files were never checked in in the first place. Does that matter? Can you shelve an unchecked item? Is that what I did wrong? EDIT: WHAP - FOUND IT!!! Use "Undo" on the items that don't exist because they show up in pending changes as checkins.
