• Creating a Compilation Unit with type bindings

  I am working with the AST API in java, and I am trying to create a Compilation Unit with type bindings. • My computer freezes irregularly

  My computer started to freeze at irregular times for 3 weeks now. Please note that this question change with each things that i try. (For additional details) What happens My computer freezes, the video stops. (No graphic glitches, it just stops) Sound keeps playing up to some time (Usually 10-30 seconds) then stops playing. Sometimes, randomly, the screen on my G-15 keyboard flickers and I see caracters not at the right places. Usually happens for about 1-2 seconds and a bit before my computer freezes. I have to keep the power button pressed for 4 seconds to shut my computer down. I still hear my hard drives and fans working. Sometimes it works with no problems for a full day, some other times it just keeps freezing each time I restart my computer and I have to leave it for the rest of the day. Sometimes my mouse freezes for a fraction of a second (Like 0.01 to 0.2 seconds) quite randomly, usually before it freezes. No errors spotted by the "Action center" unlike when I had problems with my last video card on this system (Driver errors). My G-15 LCD screen also freezes. Sometimes my G-15 LCD screen flickers and caracters gets caried around temporary under heavy load. Now, most of the times, the BIOS hard disks boot order gets reversed for some reason and I have to put it to the right one and save each times I boot. (Might be unrelated, not sure, but it first started yesterday) Sometimes the BIOS doesn't detect my 750GB hard drive plugged in SATA1. What I did so far I have had similar problems in the past and I had changed my hard drive (It was faulty), so I tested my software RAID-0 array and it was faulty so I changed it. (I reinstalled Windows 7 with this part). I also tested with unplugging my secondary hard drive. My CPU was running at about 100 degree Celsius, I removed the dust between the fans and the heatsink and it's now between 45-55. I ran a CPU stress-test and it didn't freeze during the tests (using Prime95 on all cores) Ran a memory test (using memtest86+) for a single pass and there were no errors. Ran a GPU stress test with ati-tools and furmark and it didn't freeze during the tests. (No artefacts either) I had troubles with my graphic card when I got it, but I think that it got fixed with a driver update. I checked the voltages in my BIOS setup and they all seemed ok (±0.2 I think). I have ran on the computer without problems with Fedora 15 on an external hard drive (Appart that it couldn't load Gnome 3 and was reverting to Gnome 2, didn't want to install drivers since I use it on multiple computers) I used it to backup my files from the raid array to my 1TB hard drive for the reinstallation of Windows. (So the crashes only happenned on Windows) [The external hard drive is plugged directly on a SATA port] I contacted EVGA (My graphic card vendor) and pointed them on this question, I'm looking for an answer. Ran sensors on Fedora 15 and got this output: http://pastebin.com/0BHJnAvu Ran 6 short different CPU stress test on Fedora 15 (Haven't found any complete stress testers for Linux) and it didn't crash. Changed the thermal paste to some Artic Silver 5 for my CPU and stress tested the CPU, temperature was at 50 idle, then 64 highest and slowly went down to 62 during the test. Ran some stress testing with a temporary graphic card and it went ok. Ran furmark stress test with my original graphic card and it freezed again. GPU had a temp of 74C, a CPU temp of 58C and a mobo temp of 40C or 45C (Dunno which one it is from SpeedFan). Ran a furmark stress test and a CPU stress test at the same time, results: http://pastebin.com/2t6PLpdJ I have been using my computer without stressing it for about 2 hours now and no crashes yet. I also have disabled the AMD Cool'n'quiet function on the BIOS for a more regular power to the CPU. When I ran Furmark without C'n'q my computer didn't freeze but I had a "Driver Kernel Error" that have recovered (And Furmark crashed) all that while running a CPU stress test. The computer eventually frozed without me being at it, but this time my screen just went on sleep and I couldn't wake it. Using the stability tester in nTune my computer freezed again (In the same manner as before). I notived that Speedfan gives me a -12V of -16.97V and a -5V of -8.78V. I wonder if these numbers are reliable and if they are good or bad. I have swapped my G-15 with another basic USB keyboard (HP) and I have ran furmark for about 10 minutes with a CPU stability test running each 60 seconds for 30 seconds and my computer haven't crashed yet. Ran some more extended tests without my G-15 and it freezed like it usually do. Removed the nForce Hard disk controler. Disabled command queuing in the NVIDIA nForce SATA Controller for both port 0 and port 1 (Errors from the logs) Used CPUID HwMonitor, here are the voltages: http://pastebin.com/dfM7p4jV Changed some configurations in the motherboard BIOS: Disabled PEG Link Mode, Changed AI Tuning to Standard, Disabled the 1394 Controller, Disabled HD Audio, Disabled JMicron RAID controller and Disabled SATA Raid. When it happens When I play video games (Mostly) When I play flash games (Second most) When I'm looking at my desktop background (It rarely happens when I have a window open, but it does, sometimes) When my Graphic card and my CPU are stressed. Sometimes when my Graphic card is stressed. Never happenned while stressing only the CPU. Sometimes when my CPU is stressed. Specs Windows Seven x64 Home Premium Motherboard: M2N-SLI Deluxe CPU: AMD Phenom 9950 x2 @ 2.6GHz Memory: Kingston 4x2GB Dual Channel (Pretty basic memory sticks) Hard drives: Was 2x250GB (Western digital caviar) in raid-0 + 1TB (WD caviar black), I replaced the raid array with a 750GB (WD caviar black) [Yes I removed the array from the raid configurations] 750W Power supply No overcloking. Ever. There have been some power-downs like 4-5 weeks ago, but the problem didn't start immediately after. (I wasn't home, so my computer got shut-down) Event logs (Warnings, errors and critical errors) for the last 24 hours: http://pastebin.com/Bvvk31T7 My current to-try list Reinstall the drivers and software 1 by 1 and do extensive stress testing between each. Update the BIOS firmware to the most recent stable one. Change my motherboard. Status updates Keeping only the last 3 (28/06 04pm) More stress testing and still pass the tests. (28/06 03pm) Been stress testing for 10 minute straight now and 5 minutes with both CPU and GPU being stressed at the same time. (28/06 03pm) Stress-testing right now, so far no problems. A little hope Tests with Furmark and Prime95. Testing Windows bare-bone: 30 Minutes stress, no freeze. Installing an Anti-virus and some software, restarting computer. Testing with Anti-virus and some software (No drivers installed): 30 Minutes stress, no freeze. Installing audio drivers, restarting computer. Testing with the audio drivers: 30 Minutes stress, no freeze. Installing the latest graphic drivers from EVGA's website (without 3d vision since I don't use it), restarting computer. Testing with the graphic drivers: 30 Minutes stress, no freeze. Configuring Windows to my liking and installing more softwares. In this situation, how can I successfully pin-point the current hardware problem? (If it's a hardware problem) Because I don't really have the budget to just forget and replace everything. I also don't really have hardware to test-replace current hardware.

• UISplitViewController, animating views

  Hello, I'm trying to animate my detail view controller to transition with a page curl (up/down). I'm trying to achieve a similar effect as the Notes application on the iPad, this transition was also reproduced by CulturedCode in their Things application for iPad. My problem is that the animation is clipped to the bounds of the Detail View Controller, it doesn't animate into the Master View Controller, therefore limiting the effect. I see that Apple and CulturedCode managed to make this happen, but I'm stumped. I've tried the following solutions: self.splitViewController.view.clipToBounds = False; self.view.clipToBounds = False; self.tableView.clipToBounds = False; The only other solution I can think of is discarding the UISplitViewController altogether and creating my own VC programmatically that will mimic the UISVC behavior so that both of the views (former separate view controllers) will share the same Super View. I've tried marking this as an embedded resource and adding it AssemblyInfo.cs and then referencing this resource using <%= ClientScript.GetWebResourceUrl(this.GetType(), "FullPath.FileName.js")%> This is literally displaying this output in the view WebResource.axd?d=nUxqfqAUQLabLU54W I think this is because Im trying to refer to an embedded resource from an embedded resource. Help appreciated as Im going round in circles.. Steve

• Visual Basic 2010: How to make window/form become active foreground?

  I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Express. I have a form that can be minimized. There's also a tray icon. I've coded it so that if you double-click on the tray icon, the form's FormWindowState becomes set to Normal; this restores the form to where it to where it was before it became minimized, but the form does not become the active window on my desktop. How can I make the form become the active most foreground window? I've tried various functions that I can think of but no luck yet. Tried searching with various queries to try and find the right wording but no luck. I'm new to Visual Basic - only started a couple hours ago. Probably something simple but I can't seem to find the correct function or anything... Please enlighten me! Thanks.

My current guess is I should seperate this into 2 steps: Step 1: Build this control without swiping behavior. Just 2 buttons to go up a number or go down a number Step 2: Replace the buttons by handling mouse events. With my limited knowledge I think I would manage building a crappy control that does this, with very messy xaml and c# and lots of headaches when trying to apply styling and fancy state transitions, but I was hoping some xaml wizards could get me started with the basic approach?   Hi All, i am new to the web development environment, having came from a unix/c environment. i've been recently asked to create a web app, which i thought would require postgresql, java/j2ee, and javascript for the client interface. as i had wanted a nicer gui, i've been reading up on extjs, which looks really nice to me. a colleague mentioned that the time needed time needed to learn all these various pieces is time consuming, and Jdeveloper seems to provide most of what we'd need (i was shown a demo, which appears to be able to generate some nice web interfaces). what are the pros and cons with the different approaches ? some i can think of: - jdeveloper is an integrated ide, which creates UI easily, tightly integrated with database. (pro) - jdeveloper will be heavier? (con) - wizard generated code may be harder to refactor ? • MKMapView within UITableView

  I have a MKMapView within a UITableviewCell and I want to be able to disable scrolling of the table view when the user starts to drag within the map view. My plan had been to override the MKMapView touchesBegan/Moved etc methods and if they were called to then disable scrolling in the parent view. Scrolling in the parent view would be enabled again only when the touches in the MKMapView ended or were cancelled. My problem is that the touchesBegan/Moved methods inside MKMapView are not called - the problem is also discussed here: stackoverflow discussion. My table view is within a tab control, so I don't think I can extend UIWindow the way they describe, as there are several views that could be within the window, depending on which tab is active. How can I access the MKMapView touch events please?

• Why do users have to enter a 7-digit twitter PIN to grant my application access?

  I am implementing some ruby on rails code tweet stuff for my users. I am creating the proper oauth link...something like http://twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv But after my test account grants access to twitter, it pulls up a page saying "You've successfully granted access to . Simply return to and enter the following PIN to complete the process. 1234567" I have no idea where the user should enter this PIN and why they have to do that. I don't think this should be a necessary step. Twitter should be redirecting the user to the callback URL I provided in the application settings. Does anyone know why this is happening? UPDATE I found this article that states I need to send my users to this URL (note "authenticate" instead of "authorize"): http://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv I made the change but Twitter redirects the user to the authorize path after he clicks "Allow" which then gives him the 7 digit PIN again!

• Proper way of deleting records with Codeigniter

  I came across another Stackoverflow post regarding Get vs Post and it made me think. With CI, my URL for deleting a record is http://domain.com/item/delete/100, which deletes record id 100 from my DB. The record_id is pulled via $this->uri->segment. In my model I do have a where clause that checks that the user is indeed the owner of that record. A user_id is stored in a session inside the DB. Is that good enough? My understanding is, POST should be used for one time modification for data and GET is for retrieving regards (e.g. viewing an item or permalink).

  So I've spent the last few days looking for a way to create a simple image drawing app with wxPython, and I think the key to doing just that is understanding how to use Device Contexts. The problem is that the wxPython demo program doesn't demonstrate DCs, and the docs for both wxPython and wxWidgets don't explain as much as I'd like to know so I've decided to try and 'reverse engineer' an existing app to see how its done. The first problem I have is that I don't know of any drawing apps written in wxPython (or any written in Python for that matter o.o), and the second is I don't know how I'd go about doing it. Am I right in saying that I'm going to need a copy of an application's Python source and something like Winpdb? What do professional programmers do when they find themselves in a situation like mine, needing answers that the docs don't provide?

  Okay so two questions very related: 1) Does following the naming convention for classes, controllers, database fields, etc. affect the framework's ability to work the way it was intended? (I'm a little new to working with a framework from the beginning of app development) 2) This question is more important if 1 is a yes. Say I have a table, A, that has 2 foreign keys pointing at the same table, B, but different entries (they're like edges of a graph that point at two vertices) how would I follow the naming convention of their database fields? All I can think to do is something like vertex_1_id and vertex_2_id but I don't know how the framework would handle that if the naming conventions are necessary for its functioning correctly.

I thought it might be best to try and catch it in the PreviewKeyDown event although I will also need to process paste attempts (I can solve that bit I think). Is PreviewKeyDown a good place to start? If I have the following: glPushMatrix(); float m[16]; glGetFloatv(GL_MODELVIEW_MATRIX, m); glPopMatrix(); What should I expect the values of m to equal? Currently I'm getting these values and I'm confused as to where they're coming from: -1, 0, 0, 0, 0, -0.6139, 0.7893522, 0, 0, 0.789352238, 0.61394, 0, 0, 0.0955992, -1.344529, 1, I'm assuming there is something which affects this, but I'm not sure what. Could anyone help? I've tried changing pretty much anything but everytime I push the matrix stack I always get this matrix straight away! I don't think this makes a difference but I'm using OpenGLES. I think the crash is because of CGEventMaskBit(kCGEventKeyUp) when I create an event tap. But if I create event tap using CGEventTapCreate(kCGHIDEventTap,kCGHeadInsertEventTap,kCGEventTapOptionListenOnly,CGEventMaskBit(kCGEventFlagsChanged),&keyUpCallback,NULL), the application works fine. It does not crash. I'm getting callbacks when any modifier key is pressed. But I need to get callbacks for delete key pressed. Any ideas? Thanks, Dheeraj.

• How to Increment Visual Studio build number using C++?

  I have a Visual Studio 2008 project that produces a file called: "Game-Release.exe". This was configured under Project Properties - C/C++ - Linker - General: $(OutDir)\$(ProjectName)-Release.exe I would like to take this a bit further by have an incrementing build number so I would have something which says: Game-Release-Build-1002.exe The number on the end should be an incrementing integer. I will be storing the build exe's on subversion so I think i would find this useful (although not necessary). Perhaps there is a built in macro in Visual Studio that could handle this. Quite possibly I was thinking I could have a text file with the build number in it and have the compiler read, use and increment the number in the file each time the project is built. My goal is however to make the process as automated as possible. What is the best way to accomplish this? If you offer an opinion, please also provide the code we can all share. Thnx.

• Invalid UTF-8 for Postgres, Perl thinks they're ok

  I'm running perl 5.10.0 and Postgres 8.4.3, and strings into a database, which is behind a DBIx::Class. These strings should be in UTF-8, and therefore my database is running in UTF-8. Unfortunatly some of these strings are bad, containing malformed UTF-8, so when I run it I'm getting an exception DBI Exception: DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xb5 I thought that I could simply ignore the invalid ones, and worry about the malformed UTF-8 later, so using this code, it should flag & ignore the bad titles. if(not utf8::valid($title)){ $title="Invalid UTF-8"; } $data->title($title); $data->update(); However perl seems to think that the strings are valid, but it still throws the exceptions. How can I get perl to detect the bad UTF-8?

  I have an old NPAPI plugin for OS X that I'm trying to refit for use with Snow Leopard's version of Safari. My problem is that when I switch Safari to 64-bit mode, it changes the plugin environment to out of process mode (where plugins are hosted by a 32-bit WebKitPluginHost process). And now my toolbar palettes are not visible on screen, even though the NSPanels on which they are based think they are visible. The documentation says that bringing up windows is not recommended, but doesn't say its prohibited; is there something I can do to bring up my Windows?

• Include OpenX ad in a jquery-ui dialog?

  I'm loading some content into a jquery-ui dialog via .ajax. That's all working fine but now I've been given an OpenX ad to embed into the dialog & can't figure out how to do it. I know all the script is stripped when coming in via ajax, & I know how to use $.getScript to load .js files for use in the dialog, but the OpenX ad script I've got uses document.write so I think it's expecting to be embedded inline into the desired position on the page. I've tried appending the escaped script string into the div on ajax success of the main content as below, but this results in the page being redirected to a page with just the ad on it. Attempt shown below: $("#" + idHelpPage).find(".adScript").append("<script type='text/javascript'>var m3_u = (location.protocol=='https:'?'https://d1.openx.org/ajs.php':'http://d1.openx.org/ajs.php');var m3_r = ... etc etc I'm ok with jquery but not great with javascript, would really appreciate any help! • SVN access denied when comparing revisions

  We're using an SVN repository. I am getting the error below when we try to compare a local unmodified file with the latest revision of the file in the repository. In other words, someone's checked in a change and if I update I will get their change but first I want to see what their change was. DOn't think it matters but we're using Xcode and using the menu item SCM - Compare With - Latest. Error: 220001 (Item is not readable) Description: Unreadable path encountered; access denied Any pointers where to look to fix this appreciated. I looked in the svnserve.conf which has the default settings. Nothing jumped out to me. Also, % svn log returns "svn: Item is not readable". Thanks, Gonzalo
