I am looking for knowledgebase/faq software with a developer license that is written in c#.
I have found a couple of good options for VB but would prefer C#.
.Net defines a "Trace Source" concept, allowing configuration files to specify which trace sources to listen for messages on. WCF provides several trace sources, and I would presume that other portions of the .Net Framework BCL publish other trace sources as well. What is the list of trace source names published to by the BCL?
I've been looking at software activation systems for .NET and frankly found the websites out there underwhelming. I'm wondering if there's a "standard" way to do it in .NET? If not, does anyone with experience of them have a recommendation?
I understand the arguments for and against activation systems, but still need to evaluate.
Thanks.
In light of this question I thought it'd be really neat to have a similar question about C#/.Net.
So, what is the most awkward or misleading method name of the .Net and/or C# API?
I tried to look this up on MSDN, but couldn't get a straight answer.
It says:
The .NET Compact Framework for Xbox
360 implements a subset of the .NET
Compact Framework, and has been
optimized to take advantage of and
expose the power of the Xbox 360.
What exactly is the subset? Which version of the framework? 3.5? 2.0?
What are the requirements for running .net framework targeted application on Windows CE 5?
When I try to start an application that I developed for Windows Mobile 6, I'm getting an error
Cannot find 'Projectname' (or one of
its components) Make sure the path and
filename are correct and that all the
required libraries are available
My app is a simple hello world app. What could cause that such error message?
Is there a way to dertimine which .net compact framework version is running on my system?
I want to develop a Single-Sign-On(SSO) or centralized authentication server (CAS) project for SSO between asp.net, php and java.
Is there any Single-Sign-On(SSO) or centralized authentication server (CAS) open source project using asp.net c# ?
I saw that on so many blogs. Lots of the people that were dealing with ASP.NET tend to play with Ruby on Rails after working hours. And It is just a matter of last one or two years.
Why is it like that? Is it because when ASP.NET MVC showed up people become more open-minded - having joy with programming again they realize that some other folks had that many years ago, and they do not want to miss what they currently have?
I dont know anything about Ienumerable object.what is the role of Ienumarble interface in .net ? Please tell me whether it is in built? Is every class in .net automatically implements the Ienumarable interface ? why there is need to implement the ienumerable interface? what are the methods it contains & what roles they plays. Hi, we're in need to stop the user session in an ASP.NET site after some time(say 20 mins).
We know we can use a timer and code every page to expire on the timer tick, but we're searching a faster way, maybe through an IIS configuration?
Is there a built in way to do such things?
We're using ASP.NET 2.0, Framework 3.5, IIS 6, c#.
TY.
I have an 'access denied' problem on an ASP.NET web application, where the user uploads an Excel file and I try and write it to a folder. I don't have access to the host except FTP, so I can't set permissions. I thought that ASP.NET would be able to write to a folder that is under the web app root, but it isn't so.
Is there anywhere I can write the file to that doesn't require me to set permissions?
How do I get the ASP.NET Controls for Crystal Reports in Visual Studio 2008? I've downloaded and installed a lot of things, but the guidance on the SAP website isn't very helpful to me.
What do I need to download and install on my machine to create an ASP.NET application which surfaces Crystal Reports?
Hello,
In ASP.NET MVC, we don't have controls which can do stuffs such as autocompletion (we don't have controls at all from Visual Studio like in web forms).
But, Is it possible to still get 'Auto-completion' with a text box in ASP.NET MVC (like with the textbox found on the Google's Home page)?
If this is the case, what's the best way to do so? JQueryUI? or there's someother way of getting that functionality?
Thanks for helping.
I am using .net Windows Forms i need to maintain some date to check the condition. so i have to maintain it up to user logged out?

I have been exploring the possibilities of Microsoft Silverlight and how it runs in web browsers. I just wonder if Silverlight requires the .NET framework? Meaning that Mac or Linux users cannot run Silverlight. I will be making the application using the .NET framework 3.5. Will this application run in any web browser, or just major ones like Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari?
We have to install Windows SDK along with .NET Framework. Why do we need the SDK if we have the framework?
EDIT:
This isn't just the case for .net development. Also, if you want to develop Silverlight apps, you have to install additional sdk. Why?
I'm working on a web application using mvc, we have already a service that does http binding, the client wants tcp binding for certain actions (not really sure why) but it's their requirement so i'm attempting to set up net.tcp binding, all references i am seeing to doing this involve a windows application and not a web application.
I guess my question has 2 parts, first can you run httpbinding and net.tcp binding at the same time through the same service/project.
secondly how would I consume the service through a webproject?
How would you implement a search facility within an ASP.NET hybrid application? I'm really tempted to start rebuilding our Intranet application using ASP.NET MVC & Web Forms (mainly MVC though).
I know how to search the dynamic content from a database, but I'm struggling with the static content in the Views. Surely this should be an easy task with routing and a sitemap.
Could you provide example of JavaScript function for starting up application installed on your computer from a web browser (eg google chrome 4). It particular if .Net APPs have any special simplyfiing this process apis of out there are some libs for such staff, please share link with us.
So how to start up your C# .NET app\programm from web browser?
I am searching a good way to encrypt and decrypt user authentication data between my Android app and my ASP.NET Webservice built in C#.
I want to do a user registration on my Android app and send the authentication to the back-end server that is a ASP.NET Webservice built in C# and then every time the app calls the webservice it should send a hashed string with authentication information so webservice now what user it is.
What is the best practice for this and have i missed something, give me some ideas please!
