  • Android - How to scan Access Points and select strongest signal?

    I am currently trying to write a class in Android that will Scan for access points, calculate which access point has the best signal and then connect to that access point. So the application will be able to scan on the move and attach to new access points on the go. I have the scanning and calculation of the best signal working. But when it comes to attaching to the best access point I am having trouble. It appears that enableNetwork(netid, othersTrueFalse) is the only method for attaching to an Access point but this causes problems as from my Scan Results I am not able to get the id of the access point with the strongest signal. Can anyone point me in the direction of a better solution?

  • Using gcc compiler flag in Xcode

    Hi, Shark has identified a area of code to be improved - Unaligned loop start and recommends adding -falign-loops=16 (gcc compiler flag). I've added this to Other C flags in iphone Xcode both to the dependant project and top level project. However it still does not seem to affect the performance and Shark is still reporting the same problem so it appears it didn't work. Am i doing this correctly?

  • Web P2P video confrence solution

    I'm looking for the best possible solution which will allow me to incorporate live video/audio conference between 2 users(only 2 at this point) into a flash gaming platform. The video chat is not just an extra feature, it's the main one. I'm mainly looking at open source implementations or something I'll be able to implement myself, but will consider commercial products if they are exactly what I need. Here are a few things I've looked at, but so far, I didn't find any of them good enough: Flash player 10's P2P capabilities sound promising, but I am aware of the fact that Adobe has not release any information on the RTMFP protocol and that there is no commercial server which supports it at this point. Stream all the video/audio live through a flash server (not p2p), but from my personal experience you don't get a smooth conversation. I think TokBox uses this method Java applets are a possible solution too (to perform p2p), but I don't think it will be a nice and elegant solution to combine them in the game at this point (and requires the user to authorize them). BTW, I couldn't find any useful implementations. So, If you know of any, i'll look into them. Google Gmail Video Chat uses a custom (and proprietary) browser plug-in which does the p2p and streams the video/audio into the flash player. This is a possible solution, but I rather not implement the entire p2p protocol stack + browser plug-in at this stage and concentrate on other aspect of the game itself. I think they are using XMPP based protocol similar to Jingle and they've release a Jingle librarby but without the video confrencing implementation. EDIT: In response to Branden: I am aware of Adobe Stratus. Stratus is a beta, hosted rendezvous service that aids establishing communications between Flash Player endpoints (RTMFP server). This current release of the Stratus is prerelease and is designed for evaluation purposes only. The service is not final. There is no guarantee that the service will continue to exist in the future or any information about the future cost. That's why I don't think it can be used as a commercial solution. At least not yet. I'd appreciate your suggestions and advice. thanks!

I looked at the samples in February release of Azure services kit but the samples in there are using HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse to consume SQL Data Services RESTfully. I was hoping to use ADO.NET Data Service Client library to abstract low-level details away.

  • HLSL tex2d sampler seemingly returning incorrect values; why?

    Hello all, I have code that needs to render regions of my object differently depending on their location. I am trying to use a colour map to define these regions, then get a value (0-14) representing this region by sampling the texture. The problem is when I sample from my colour map, I get collisions. Ie, two regions with different colours in the colourmap get the same value returned from the sampler. I've tried various formats of my colour map. I set the colours for each region to be "5" apart in each case; Indexed colour RGB, RGBA: region 1 will have RGB 5,5,5. region 2 will have RGB 10,10,10 and so on. HSV Greyscale: region 1 will have HSV 0,0,5. region 2 will have HSV 0,0,10 and so on. The tex2D sampler returns a value [0..1]. To get the "region number" I multiply this by 100 and divide by 5, expecting a number [0..20].   • SQL CLR Stored Procedure and Web Service

    I am current working on a task in which I am needing to call a method in a web service from a CLR stored procedure. A bit of background: Basically, I have a task that requires ALOT of crunching. If done strictly in SQL, it takes somewhere around 30-45 mins to process. If I pull the same process into code, I can get it complete in seconds due to being able to optimize the processing so much more efficiently. The only problem is that I have to have this process set as an automated task in SQL Server. In that vein, I have exposed the process as a web service (I use it for other things as well) and want the SQL CLR sproc to consume the service and execute the code. This allows me to have my automated task. The problem: I have read quite a few different topics regarding how to consume a web service in a CLR Sproc and have done so effectivly. Here is an example of what I have followed. http://blog.hoegaerden.be/2008/11/11/calling-a-web-service-from-sql-server-2005/ I can get this example working without any issues. However, whenever I pair this process w/ a Web Service method that involves a database call, I get the following exceptions (depending upon whether or not I wrap in a try / catch): Msg 10312, Level 16, State 49, Procedure usp_CLRRunDirectSimulationAndWriteResults, Line 0 .NET Framework execution was aborted. System.Security.SecurityException: at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet) at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() at System.Net.CredentialCache.get_DefaultCredentials() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.set_UseDefaultCredentials(Boolean value) at MyStoredProc.localhost.MPWebService.set_UseDefaultCredentials(Boolean Value) at MyStoredProclocalhost.MPWebService..ctor() at MyStoredProc.StoredProcedures.MyStoredProc(String FromPostCode, String ToPostCode) I am sure this is a permission issue, but I can't, for the life of me get it working. I have attempted using impersonation in the CLR sproc and a few other things. Any suggestions? What am I missing?

However, I've calculated it will take over 10 seconds when I jump to -for instance- element 500.000 using XMLReader::next ([ string $localname ] ) or XMLReader::read ( void ) This is not very usable. Is there a faster way to do this?

    I have identified the query constructs my users normally use. would it make sense for me to create composite indexes to support those constructs and provide FIRST_ROWS capability? If I migrate from SE to IDS, I will loose the ability to write low-level functions with c-isam calls, but gain FIRST_ROWS along with other goodies like: SET-READS for index scans (onconfig USE_[KO]BATCHEDREAD), optimizer directives, parallel queries, etc?

I was hoping to accomplish this without using a temp table. Is it possible to use something similar to this?: select c1, c2, count(*) from t group by c1, c2 But this returns 3 columns.     I have written a crawler in Perl awhile back and it was super simple giving the high-level capability of libwww-perl. It is so straight forward in fact, it can take the raw HTML response of one request, and create the next HTTP request for you from the FORMs on that page (as in it will parse the HTML for you). Does anyone know any library like this on .NET or Java? Selenium is out of question because it requires the browser to be open, which we cannot accommodate in our implementation)
