  • Query useing two databases in SQL Report Builder

    I am new to SQL Server Report Builder 2.0 and I need to compare two different databases in one query. Basically I need to check if values from one database table exist in a different database's table. I know I can add multiple Datasources to my report and access each one with Subreports, but each DataSet that I create can only have one query in it. So how can I go about using one query to access two databases? Or if there is another way to somehow join my results from multiple DataSets, that would work too. Also, the databases are on the same server.

    We have a large number of data in many categories with many properties, e.g. category 1: Book properties: BookID, BookName, BookType, BookAuthor, BookPrice category 2: Fruit properties: FruitID, FruitName, FruitShape, FruitColor, FruitPrice We have many categories like book and fruit. Obviously we can create many tables for them (MySQL e.g.), and each category a table. But this will have to create too many tables and we have to write many "adapters" to unify manipulating data. The difficulties are: 1) Every category has different properties and this results in a different data structure. 2) The properties of every categoriy may have to be changed at anytime. 3) Hard to manipulate data if each category a table (too many tables) How do you store such kind of data?

    I have 2 databases. One is properties and the other is dates. In dates I have associated the land_id and a date (In YYYYMMDD format) which means that the date is not available. I need to formulate a query that a user can specify a start and end date, and then choose a property for which dates are available (not in the date database). How do airline and hotel websites do this kind of logic? I was thinking about taking the date range and picking all days in between and doing a query where the dates do not match and ordering it by number of results, but I can see how that could easily turn into an intense query. Do I need to use nested routes? I am able to do @user.reviews.new(params[:review]) but I'm not being able of passing the wsp_id and the service_id.     I have a table with a lot of columns and a type column. Some columns seem to be always empty for a specific type. I want to create a view for each type and only show the relevant columns for each type. Working under the assumption that if a column has ONLY null values for a specific type, then that columns should not be part of the view, how can you find that out with queries? Is there a SELECT [columnName] FROM [table] WHERE [columnValues] ARE ALL [null] I know I COMPLETELY made it all up above... I'm just trying to get the idea across. Thanks in advance!

  • Hibernate Query - Get latest versions by timestamp?

    I have a database that is being used as a sort of version control system. That is, instead of ever updating any rows, I add a new row with the same information. Each row also contains a version column that is a date timestamp, so the only difference is the new row will have a more recent timestamp. What I'm having trouble with is writing an efficient hibernate query to return the latest version of these rows. For the sake of example, these are rows in a table called Product, the timestamped column is version. There are multiple versions of multiple products in the table. So there may be multiple versions (rows) of ProductA, multiple versions of ProductB, etc. And I would like to grab the latest version of each. Can I do this in just a single hibernate query? session.createQuery("select product from Product product where...?"); Or would this require some intermediate steps?

    i know this is a "not build in" or "the way dba thinks" but a programmer aproach , How could one request from 3 fields to get the one that is not null, into a result filed. lets say we have a table with f1,f2,f3,f4,f5. lets say f2,f3,f4 are the same type. lets say the content of the table be tupples of (key1,null,null,value1,value2) (key2,null,value3,value4,value5) (key3,null,null,null,value6) now if we return the first tupple then we get (key1) we get (key1,value1,value2) if we ask for key2 we get (key1,value3,value5) if we ask for key3 we get (key1,null,value6) how is it possible to get the fields in the priority of if you have value in f2, then its set into the returned field, only then if we have value in f3 then its set into the middle returned field, only then if we have value in f4 then its set into the middle returned field the main goal is to get the result into a sigel feild and prevent the overhead work needed at the result end.

    I have an app, where there's one UIWebView and a UITableView. I don't want to create many .xib's, so I decided to make one .xib for all elements of the table. When user chooses a table element, the UIWebView appears and I want it to load data from different .html's depending on the name of the parent controller.   • Gridview inside UpdatePanel refresh

    I use a GridView to represent data from a table in my DB. the GridView has some template fields whose content are determined before displaying the Grid ( I use the RowDataBound event to determine content of template fields before displaying the GridView). The page displays a list of records from the table records and then, the recording process starts. after the process is over, the template fields should be updated. how do I automatically refresh the GridView after the process is finished ? it should be noted that the GridView is contained within an control and that I continuously poll the server using a Timer control that executes "GridView1.DataBind()" at the server level every 60 seconds. since the GridView is inside an UpdatePanel, calling DataBind() method on it doesn't seem to call the RowDataBound event. How can I solve this ?

I would like to SELECT further to reduce the rows in the result set. Is this possible? From this question it seems like I could insert the results into a temporary table, but I'm not sure I've got permissions to do this. Is there any way I can SELECT certain rows, or if not, can someone give me example code for simulating with a temporary table?

    Hi everyone, I've been researching this problem for awhile now and I can't seem to come to a solution, hopefully someone here can help. Currently I'm working with Microsoft SQL server management, I've been trying to do the following: Previously, the old query would just return the results that fit between two dates Heres the previous query: SELECT e.Name, o.StartDate, o.EndDate FROM dbo.Name e, dbo.Date o WHERE where e.Name = o.Name and o.StartDate <= '2010-09-28 23:59:59' and o.EndDate >= '2010-9-28 00:00:00' and e.Name like 'A' Example table that is produced after the query runs (The real table has a lot more rows obviously :P) : Name Start End A 2010-09-28 07:00:00 2010-09-28 17:00:00 A 2010-09-28 13:45:00 2010-09-28 18:00:00 A 2010-09-28 08:00:00 2010-09-28 16:00:00 A 2010-09-28 07:00:00 2010-09-28 15:30:00 However we need to change this, so that the query does the following: find the dates that intersect for a day x find the dates that don't intersect for a day x I've found a real useful site regarding this http://bloggingabout.net/blogs/egiardina/archive/2008/01/30/check-intersection-of-two-date-ranges-in-sql.aspx However the date to compare against is inputted, mine on the other hand has to all dates that intersect/don't intersect.   • related categories - database design

    Hello! I'm looking for a little database design advice... I have a spreadsheet with a few columns in it. Column 1 being a list of categories and the rest being related categories(to the category in column 1). I'm trying to figure out what the best way to setup the tables would be... My thought so far is to have a table that just lists the categories then have a table with 2 columns that holds the id of the category and the id of a related category.... Would this be the best way to do this? Any better ideas?
