Hi, We are developing a web app that will have a pretty complex user and permission system. The general idea is that we have 3 levels of security: a simple user - that can only access basic data that is in a data repository a manager - that can open up data repositories a superuser - that can open up repository factories. each repository contains various data types(text, images, etc etc). We are looking for authentication methods that will allow us: 1. Scalability. 2. Customization. 3. To create permissions that will effect the GUI + deny access to certain pages. 4. To create predefined roles - that will allow for easy setup of new users. 5. To create custom roles for specific users - allowing them permission sets that are different from the predefined roles. Finding the URL of an XMLHttpRequest

Hi, I've got some code that does an ajax request using jQuery, and handles success and error conditions. On an error, I want to find out what the URL I called was, so I can log it. This information appears to be contained in the XMLHttpRequest.channel, but firefox is complaining about accessing this - Permission denied for <http://localhost:8081> to get property XMLHttpRequest.channel Any ideas how I can determine the URL associated with an XMLHttpRequest? What's the security issue getting hold of this information? Cheers, Colin

Using WPF class in a web application, problem with hosting permission

I'm developing a DLL that uses WPF classes to make image manipulation. It works fine in my local environment, but when I try to use it in an hosted web site I retrieve this error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.MediaPermission, WindowsBase, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' failed. exactly when I try to call the EndInit() of a BitmapImage object: BitmapImage originalImage = new BitmapImage(); originalImage.BeginInit(); originalImage.CacheOption = BitmapCacheOption.OnLoad; originalImage.UriSource = new Uri(physical_imagepath); originalImage.EndInit(); Any suggestion?

Javascript parent page redirection from iframe.

Hello to all. I need to implement parent page redirection from iframe. I know that it is impossible to do in different domains due to browsers security. However I found that links have target attribute and tried to use it in the following way: <a href="http://google.com" target="_top" id="testParentRedirect">someLink</a> It works fine if I click this link manually, but I couldn't find cross-browser solution to simulate it using javascript. document.getElementById('testParentRedirect').click(); This works fine in IE, however Firefox and Safary don't know click function :). I tried to work with jquery, but for some reason they don't simulate click event for links. (see following post) I couldn't find any appropriate solution on stackoverflow. Maybe someone could help me in it. I will appreciate it. :)

Facebook Api - Local development, Testserver, Liveserver ... How?

I'm working on a new website that uses the Facebook API for users to login and several implementations of the graph Api. My workflow usually is: Development on localhost Development using MAMP/XAMPP or similar software Push to server - testing domain A team of people can test the changes for a few days to see if everything works as planned. Push to server - live domain Changes are live for public Facebook uses the site URL in the appsettings and for security reasons, they will only redirect to that url... Problem is.. I have localhost and 2 different domains. How can I make this work? Ofcourse I could edit the hostsfile, but that only fixes it for localhost.. Still no solution for the testdomain. Please tell me this is somehow possible! I'm getting more and more depressed with the Facebook API.

jQuery .closest returns undefined

authorization services question cocoa

Sorry for being a total beginner in cocoa and for asking the following stupid question, but it's too confusing for me to google it myself or maybe i'm just missing something. I need to run a shellscript with elevated privileges in cocoa. As i understand, "AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges" is the correct way to do it. So i've created an application and tried to use some code from one example i found online. The problem is ... if i understand it correctly ... there should be a Security framework in /System/Library/Frameworks that i have to import to the project, but ... it's not there. What am i missing here? Thank you.

I have a macro that is on a server. I need to be able to run it from different workstations that connect to this server. Currently I am doing: Application.Run ("L:\database\lcmsmacro\macro1.xlsm!macro_name") The error message I am getting is "The macro may not be available in this workbook #1004" I have already made sure that my security settings are set on the lowest level. How do I run a macro from another workbook which is hosted on a different server? would using add-ins help me?

Subversion post-commit hook

I am trying to get SVN to copy files to my htdocs folder on commit. Here is what I have so far in my post-commit.bat: "C:\subversion\bin\svn.exe" update "C:\apache\apache2.2\htdocs" When I look at the log files created by the hook I get the following line: Skipped 'C:\Apache\Apache2.2\htdocs' Does anyone know why this is happening? No matter what directory I choose as a destination, I get the same error. I am running SVN 1.6.4, Tortoise 1.6.8, Apache 2.2, WinXP SP3 I am not using username and password because there is no security set up on the SVN repository. It's just me developing. Thanks

Create a Visual Studio type look using Java Swing

I would like to create extend a Java Swing application to have a look somewhat similar to an IDE such as Eclipse or Visual Studio. That’s, there would be a panel at the left that displays a tree, and a tab panel on the right that allows several elements of the tree to be opened and edited on right. For this I could easily use a BorderLayout and just use the center and left areas. However, I would also like to have the ability for the user to drag the border between these two panels, just like Eclipse and Visual Studio allow. I can think of several ways to do this, but was curious if anyone had found a particularly good way to do this, or knew of an example. I’ve googled for it, but have not found anything.

I want to include Microsoft AntiXss V1.5 library on my live site running in a medium trust setting.However, I got an error something like: Required permissions cannot be acquired. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Security.Policy.PolicyException: Required permissions cannot be acquired. I tried this in full trust setting on my development machine and everything works good.Looks like this will run only in full trust configuration......Does anybody knows a solution or workaround for this?

I am working on a C# application in Visual Studio 2013. When I run the .exe file from my computer, the application runs very well and all the features work. When I tried to run the .exe on another computer, the database side doesn't work well and the connection with the database couldn't be opened. What I mean is like servers on video games. You can run an application and it will set up a server on your computer with an IP and a port. For example, how would you make an application where one host application sets up a thing where it has an IP and a port, and another computer that has access to the internet as well can type in the IP and port and it would be able to communicate with the host? I mean simple communication, like sending a boolean or String. And would there be any security problems that would be needed to fix?

SQLCe local db in temp- path in connectionstring?

Hi, I have SQL Ce db in my app, which is included in my app directory. While debugging its OK, but when published and run with setup.exe, it retrieves "file not found" in temporary directory the app is ran from. I would like to run from standard location, but I dont know how to change it. I am using this string: SqlCeConnection connection = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source=database.sdf;Persist Security Info=False;"); When I run setup.exe, the app never starts, stating that in its temporary directory the db file was not found. When I run app.exe, it works. I do not understand it...:( EDIT: I can see that in the VS project settings, there is connection string and there is "Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Database.sdf" The path should be something like local directory? I need to add one menu item in IE context menu. It is similar with Google customized context menu "Search Google for xxx" when you right click on IE. I did a research and found that overriding IDocHostUIHandler::ShowContextMenu in a IE BHO can customized IE context menu. The sample project can be found in Popup blocker project published in codeproject. It works well and is easy to implement. However this approach has a problem. The problem is it will conflict with other add-ons' context menu customization per MSDN. In MSDN Internet Explorer Center forum, there are some discussions about this topic. However there is not a proper implementation posted. If anybody has experience on this, please share your idea. Thanks!

Hi, hopefully this is a simple question. I have a simple custom forum on my site written in PHP. For security reasons I don't allow any HTML in the forum posts. I only allow certain BBCode tags. I would however like to allow embedded YouTube videos. So my question is this: What's the best (most secure) way to validate the YouTube embed code? YouTube is currently using iframes to embed videos, but obviously I can't just allow the iframe tag. I also need to ensure the src of the iframe is a YouTube URL, and ensure there's no other malicious bits of code in the iframe code.

Works great .. and i use Basic Authentication to authenticate users to get access to the data. eg. http://www.MyWebSite.com <-- main site. http://api.MyWebSite.com <-- my api website. sample api RESTful url http://user1:[email protected]/games?type=battlefield2 (yes yes i know browsers stop people from putting in user1:pass1 (Basic Auth) into the url directly .. cause of security . but it's to highlight that we're using Basic Auth)). So .. how can i do this with oAuth?

when i run this from the repl: (def md (MessageDigest/getInstance "SHA-1")) (. md update (into-array [(byte 1) (byte 2) (byte 3)])) I get: No matching method found: update for class java.security.MessageDigest$Delegate the Java 6 docs for MessageDigest show: update(byte[] input) Updates the digest using the specified array of bytes. and the class of (class (into-array [(byte 1) (byte 2) (byte 3)])) is [Ljava.lang.Byte; Am I missing something in the definition of update? Not creating the class I think I am? Not passing it the type I think I am?
