• Put Raphael (SVG) canvas behind other divisions to make them clickable?

  I am using Raphael to create lines between divisions in an organization chart (or flow chart), but I need to be able to actually click on the divisions and content behind it. If I could make the canvas be behind the other elements, kind of like a background image, that would be idea. Is this possible? UPDATE: I found a solution. Raphael makes an SVG canvas that is absolutely positioned in my case. Absolute positions act as layers, and so to be on top of that layer, my content had to be absolutely positioned as well. If someone else has a better solution, I would be happy to hear it, though this is working fine.

• How to make a custom template in WordPress work as a password protected page?

  I'm building a page with a custom template. The thing is, I need this page to be password protected, or at least accessible to logged in users, but even if I set it as such (Private/Password protected) in the New Pages section in WordPress Administration, it won't display the menu entry nor the content (if Private) or it would show the page contents immediately (if Password protected). I've read somewhere that the_content() function is what makes this work, but as you can guess, my custom template doesn't use the_content() at all, and it's all based on custom content. Do you happen to know how can I (re)implement these two options?

• Gridview inside UpdatePanel refresh

  I use a GridView to represent data from a table in my DB. the GridView has some template fields whose content are determined before displaying the Grid ( I use the RowDataBound event to determine content of template fields before displaying the GridView). The page displays a list of records from the table records and then, the recording process starts. after the process is over, the template fields should be updated. how do I automatically refresh the GridView after the process is finished ? it should be noted that the GridView is contained within an control and that I continuously poll the server using a Timer control that executes "GridView1.DataBind()" at the server level every 60 seconds. since the GridView is inside an UpdatePanel, calling DataBind() method on it doesn't seem to call the RowDataBound event. How can I solve this ?

I can test the thing by sending a POST message to the service like this: POST http://localhost:3602/RestService.svc/ HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost:3602 User-Agent: Fiddler Content-Type: application/json Content-Length: 51 {"age":25,"firstName":"Hejhaj","surName":"Csuhaj"} This works. What if I'd like to have a method like this? Person IncrementAge(Person p, int amount); So it'd have multiple parameters. How should I construct the POST message for this to work? Is this possible? I have a bunch of images on a page that are contained within a div with a class of content-block like this: <div class="content-block"> <img src="../images/path/path/image.jpg" alt="blah" title="blah" /> <img src="../images/path/path/image.jpg" alt="blah" title="blah" /> <img src="../images/path/path/image.jpg" alt="blah" title="blah" /> <img src="../images/path/path/image.jpg" alt="blah" title="blah" /> <img src="../images/path/path/image.jpg" alt="blah" title="blah" /> </div> I am loading this html into a div via ajax. When I load it in I need to remove the "../" before the image path, after it loads in so the path remains correct. Can this be done with JQuery? Many thanks in advance.

• Is it bad practice to select upstream servers based upon the HTTP method?

  I'm wondering if it is bad practice to have a reverse proxy that selects the upstream server depending on the HTTP method used? The background is that I have an abitrary web server that handles POST requests with some logic behind. The same resources also contain static content, that can be retrieved using GET. After some benchmarking I realized that nginx would handle the static content way faster than my abitrary web server doing this. I checked the option to forward incoming requests internally using nginx, which is feasible. But this would lead to the fact that different servers would serve a distinct resource, only depending on issuing a GET or POST, including different header fields.

• How to control the state of the buttons to be in present based on an event happened in a Silverlight app?

  I am trying to avoid building two buttons when I really need one. In my Silverlight app scenarios, I have few grids with a different content and buttons that control the visibility of these grids. I need to be able to show a different visual for a button when its content grid is visible. I can control states such as MouseOver and Pressed and more with visual state manage. However, I am not sure how to achieve this functionality with. I also can place an image on top of the button and switch the visibility of both but it is not perfect for what I need. I am wondering if there is any way to achieve this behavior. Any ideas are highly appreciated!

• Best way to use the same HTML on static web-pages

  If you use dynamic pages like JSP or asp.net, you can have your page template included, and then content added. But what if you have no server-side component and all pages are just HTML/JS? You can of course create a template then copy it for each page, but then if you want to change something you risk having to modify every page, even if you put most styling in CSS properly. Are there any non-awful ways to do this? I could see that an iframe could be used to load the content into the central page but that sounds nasty. Does HTML provide any way to include a base file and add to it?

First I am taking the war folder already exploded and copy it in jetty/webapps, then in folder context.   What is the best practice is in the case of altering the render order of elements on a webpage. For example, I have two DIVs that are to be displayed on a page: <div id="appleSection"> <!-- Apple DIVs, content, form elements, etc --> </div> <div id="orangeSection"> <!-- Orange DIVs, content, form elements, etc --> </div> Depending on user selection (perhaps by country or something), the order which the DIVs are presented to the user can differ. Certain conditions present appleSection above orangeSection, and for other conditions, their order is reversed. If the core logic of the page is the same regardless, is it a best practice to determine order on the server-side (perhaps via two pages that differ in the order of the DIVs), or is it more appropriate to have just a single page and use CSS to control whether appleSection is above orangeSection or vice versa?

• How can I convince IE to simply display application/json rather than offer to download it?

  While debugging jQuery apps that use AJAX, I often have the need to see the json that is being returned by the service to the browser. So I'll drop the URL for the JSON data into the address bar. This is nice with ASPNET because in the event of a coding error, I Can see the ASPNET diagostic in the browser: But when the server-side code works correctly and actually returns JSON, IE prompts me to download it, so I can't see the response. Can I get IE to NOT do that, in other words, to just display it as if it were plain text? I know I could do this if I set the Content-Type header to be text/plain. But this is specifically an the context of an ASPNET MVC app, which sets the response automagically when I use JsonResult on one of my action methods. Also I kinda want to keep the appropriate content-type, and not change it just to support debugging efforts.

  I thought by placing these two lines that it would prevent the page from being cached but this is not the case between the head tags: <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache" /> As already mentioned this is on server that doesn't support PHP (or any server side language, well, that's not true, it has cgi-bin folder that supports perl scripts but I don't know perl and have no time to engage in it.) What else could I do to prevent the page from caching? It caches on Firefox and IE (and not so much in Chrome or Safari.)

  I have a model with a generic relation: TrackedItem --- genericrelation ---> any model I would like to be able to generically get, from the initial model, the tracked item. I should be able to do it on any model without modifying it. To do that I need to get the content type and the object id. Getting the object id is easy since I have the model instance, but getting the content type is not: ContentType.object.filter requires the model (which is just content_object.__class__.__name__) and the app_label. I have no idea of how to get in a reliable way the app in which a model is. For now I do app = content_object.__module__.split(".")[0], but it doesn't work with django contrib apps.

• Why are IE6 and IE7 not completely showing this div?

  I'm having problems in IE6 and 7 with a div that doesn't complete the bottom padding that is attributed to it, so doesn't appear to finish the div down to the white content area like required. • Robust Way of Selecting All Text in Textbox

  I'm trying to have the content of the an HTML textbox be selected fully onFocus. I know the simple solution of putting a onfocus="this.select()" on the component but this is not a good solution because if a user double clicks into the area the selection is lost and in browsers like chrome it is rarely working like it should and just reverts into input form. I have searched on Google for a little while and can't find a good solution, most suggestions are of this simple solution. What I would like it is that the selection inside the textbox not change once selected and if possible the user should not be able to edit the content of the textbox, for example if you have used AdSense when you grab code from AdSense the selection never changes and your unable to alter the code in the textbox. Any solutions would be appreciated.

  During investigation of some problem I found that the reason was unexpected different conversion to string[] of seemingly same input data. Namely, in the code below two commands both return the same two items File1.txt and File2.txt. But conversion to string[] gives different results, see the comments. Any ideas why is it? This might be a bug. If anybody also thinks so, I’ll submit it.
