• Document ranking strategy for P2P file sharing system.

  Recently, I got a task of building a P2P file sharing system. There is one requirement : the system should have a document ranking algorithm so that it could be used help users find more valuable files. Several strategy might be useful : force user to give a score to a file before it was downloaded The documents containing certain key words would get higher rank Manager could modify file ranking manually the more a file was downloaded, it would get a higher rank. Do you know any other strategy or methods that also appropriate? Or is there any real world example?

  Guidelines for code-golf on SO We've all seen phone numbers that are put into words: 1-800-BUY-MORE, etc. What is the shortest amount of code you can write that will produce all the possible combinations of words for a 7 digit US phone number. Input will be a seven digit integer (or string, if that is simpler), and assume that the input is properly formed. Output will be a list of seven character strings that For instance, the number 428-5246 would produce GATJAGM GATJAGN GATJAGO GATJAHM GATJAHN GATJAHO and so on..... Winning criteria will be code from any language with the fewest characters that produce every possible letter combination. Additional Notes: To make it more interesting, words can be formed only by using the letters on a North American Classic Key Pad phone with three letters per number as defined here.That means that Z and Q are excluded.   Hi, Imagine the obvious model of employees and departments, where each employee must refer to a single department, and each department may have none to many employees. For Employee I have a pointer to Department, and I set its value to the address of the object of the relevant Department. When I try to save the Employee I get an error: 2010-04-07 10:05:22.491 CoreData2[1112:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: Department)' I tried, just for testing, to make the reference from Employee to Department optional, but I get the same result. • Updating Linking Tables

  I've currently adding a bit of functionality that manages holiday lettings on top of a CMS that runs on PHP and MySQL. The CMS stores the property details on a couple of tables, and I'm adding a third table (letting_times) that will contain information about when people are staying at the property. Basic functionality would allow the user to add new times when a guest is staying, edit the times that the guest is staying and remove the booking if the guest no longer wants to stay at the property. Right now the best way that I can think of updating the times that the property is occupied is to delete all the times contained in the letting_times database and reinsert them again. The only other way that I can think to do this would be to include the table's primary key and do an update if that is present and has a value, otherwise do an insert, but this would not delete rows of data if they are removed. Is there a better way of doing this?

• keyDown works but i get beeps

  I just got my keydown method to work. But i get system beep everytime i press key. i have no idea whats wrong. • How does ImageView just redraw part of its content when invalidate(Rect) is called?

  Hi, guys I am new to Android development, just reading docs and trying the APIs. I am quit confused how ImageView managed to draw just a part of its content after an invalidate(Rect) invocation. I've checked ImageView.java, found no other drawing method except onDraw(Canvas), but onDraw(Canvas) only cut the drawable only if it is beyound the view's visible boundary. I also read the implementation of View.invalidate(Rect), I think the key of this function is calling to mParent.invalidateChild(this, r); However, I think the parent view doesn't know how to draw the child in the given Rect, it finally has to call some method of it child to paint out. Has anybody investigated this part of codes? Would you please give me some guide?

  In eclipse, the behavior of Ctrl+F11 is determined by preference config, and you could have either "Run last launch in history" or "Run current resource/editor" option available. But I'd like to have both of them at the same time, with an additional shortcut (e.g. Alt+F11). But eclipse doesn't provide the two commands in "key preference". Can I create a new shortcut that links to the "Run last launched" or "Run current editor"? It'd be even better if i could make a shortcut to show the launch history(the arrow beside the green little run button) Is this possible? could anyone give a quick hint on where to find resources to implement it? P.S.: Maven plugin's "Add dependency" common is another good candidate.

• Prevent batch file in CMD from closing without using Pause

  Currently I want to run a batch file that fires a command and show me that log. After that I need to be able to commit and view the status so this prompt may not disappear after a key press. I've searched the net and the only answer people have is pause which close the prompt after a keypress. Does anyone have the solution for me? Currently I made a shortcut to cmd.exe and made the target my folder, but I want to execute some commands also. Thanks in advance.

• Ruby ways to authenticate using headers?

  I am designing an API system in Ruby-on-Rails, and I want to be able to log queries and authenticate users. However, I do not have a traditional login system, I want to use an APIkey and a signature that users can submit in the HTTP headers in the request. (Similar to how Amazon's services work) Instead of requesting /users/12345/photos/create I want to be able to request /photos/create and submit a header that says X-APIKey: 12345 and then validate the request with a signature. Are there any gems that can be adapted to do that? Or better yet, any gems that do this without adaptation? Or do you feel that it would be wiser to just have them send the API key in each request using the POST/GET vars?

  Hi, I have a private repository on Github for a project I'm working on. Until now I had only worked on my home desktop, but I just bought a laptop, and am trying to set it up so that I can work on the project from either computer, and push / pull changes. I added a new SSH key to my Github account for the laptop, and was successful in cloning and making changes to a public test repo that I set up. However, I couldn't clone the private repo. Is there anything special I need to do in the command line in order to clone a private repo? Do I need to set up a new GitHub account for my laptop and set myself up as a collaborator? When I delete a row from the Foo table, the associated row (or rows) in FooToBar is automatically deleted. This is good. When I delete a row from the Bar table, the associated row (or rows) in FooToBar remain, with a stale reference to a Bar id that no longer exists. This is bad.   Using Visual Studio generate Test Unit class. Then comment out class initialization method. Inside it add your property, using the testContext argument. //Use ClassInitialize to run code before running the first test in the class [ClassInitialize()] public static void MyClassInitialize(TestContext testContext) { /* * Any user defined testContext.Properties * added here will be erased upon this method exit */ testContext.Properties.Add("key", 1 ) ; // above works but is lost } After leaving MyClassInitialize, properties defined by user are lost. Only the 10 "official" ones are left. This effectively means TestContext.Properties is read only, for users. Which is not clearly documented in MSDN. Please discuss. --DBJ

• std::map default value for build-in type

  Recently, I was confused by the std::map operator[] function. In the MSDN library, it says: "If the argument key value is not found, then it is inserted along with the default value of the data type." I tryed to search much more exactly explanation for this issue. For example here: std::map default value In this page, Michael Anderson said that "the default value is constructed by the default constructor(zero parameter constructor)". Now my quest comes to this:"what the default value for the build-in type?". Was it compiler related? Or is there a standard for this issue by the c++ stardard committee? I did a test on visual studio 2008 for the "int" type, and found the "int" type is construted with the value 0.

  Hello, I've been playing around with Active Record a bit, and I have noticed that A.C./ORM always uses the following database model when creating a one-to-one relationship Person id | country_id | name | ... Country id | tld | name | ... No I wondered, isn't this a violiation of the third Normal Form? This clearly states "Every non-prime attribute is non-transitively dependent on every key of the table". Well this country_id isn't dependent of personid is it? So is this wrong or am I just not getting the point?

• firefox open local link to directory with explorer

  On a Website for our internal use i show links to local files and folders. the links are like this: href="file://C:/example/" href="file://C:/example/test.odt" The Problem is now that the link to the directory does open in firefox itself with a useless directory listing. Useless because you can just see the files or open them but not copy, insert, delete... The link to the file work normal and the file is opend by OpenOffice. By changing the configuration of firefox and setting the following key to false I can open the directory in with explorer.exe but for the file I have to choose the right application. network.protocol-handler.expose.file Does someone know a way to get both to work like i want? Means that the Directory is shown by explorer.exe and all files are opened by the right application. This can be by configuring Firefox or windows, changing the links, or even by writing a small program which opens all the file protocol correctly and will be used as protocol handler for the file protocol in firefox. • Can you use Github App with Beanstalk?

  Being new to Git, I wanted to use a GUI (Windows based) and preferred the Github App. However, I would like to integrate this site with a Beanstalkapp account. I'm pretty sure this is possible, but I can't figure it out. Inside of the Github app, I navigate to my repository. When I choose "Tools Settings...", I place the Git Clone URL for the repository provided by Beanstalk into the "Primary Remote (origin)" field in my Github app. Now when I click "Publish" (which says "Click to publish this branch to server" when I hover over it) it changes to "Publishing...". After a few seconds, I get this error: server failure The remote server disconnected. Try again later, or if this persists, contact [email protected] I am pretty sure I set the SSH keys up properly (never done this before). I added the key to both the Beanstalkapp and my Github web account.

  We are using ankhsvn to check in our .net code, however I have two issues with our setup that I want to resolve. 1\ I thought a key reason to have a tool like svn is that you can rollback to an earlier version of your codebase. If developers are just checking in code, then how can you get version 1.1 (say the current production build), out of subversion? 2\ In VS you have the concept of solutions, many solutions might use the same project. How do I make sure when a developer checks out a solution, they get the appropriate versions of the projects that belong to that solution?

  I'm writing a utility that takes in a .resx file and creates a javascript object containing properties for all the name/value pairs in the .resx file. This is all well and good, until one of the values in the .resx is This dealer accepts electronic orders. /r/nClick to order {0} from this dealer. I'm adding the name/value pairs to the js object like this: streamWriter.Write(string.Format("\n{0} : \"{1}\"", kvp.Key, kvp.Value)); When kvp.Value = "This dealer accepts electronic orders./r/nClick to order {0} from this dealer." This causes StreamWriter.Write() to actually place a newline in between 'orders.' and 'Click', which naturally screws up my javascript output. I've tried different things with @ and without using string.Format, but I've had no luck. Any suggestions?

• Implement keyboard control in JavaScript Grid

  I finished building a JavaScript grid control, end everything works fine. Paging, button navigation, column sorting, etc. The cells in the grid are DIVs which are generated using Mootools 1.2.4 (which is heavily used throughout the control). I want to implement keyboard control for the grid, both for paging (page up/page down) and for moving with arrow keys inside the rows/cells of the grid. I think that I have to attach an event handler on each cell of the grid and detect what key is being pressed in order to take an appropriate action. But, I can't set the focus on the cells. What am I missing? How do I do this? Any help is appreciated.
