  My XML scripts work fine in the local swf. If I load an external swf, can I still retreive XML data from the same way, or do I have to declare the root somewhere? It's a general question. I know that when animating external swf files, you have to set it up differently, if so I would like an example, and a pitcher of beer. It's St. Patrick's weekend.   Hi iam using a listbox to show a list of items. in the listbox i ahve an togglebutton on every item. When i click on the toggle button the state of the togglebutton is pressed. But when i am scrolling down in the listbox and scolls up again. The togglebutton state is not pressed. How can i prevent this please help. • Permanently write variables to a php file with php

  I need to be able to permanently change variables in a php file using php. I am creating a multilanguage site using codeigniter and using the language helper which stores the text in php files in variables in this format: $lang['title'] = "Stuff"; I've been able to access the plain text of the files using fopen() etc and I it seems that I could probably locate the areas I want to edit with with regular expressions and rewrite the file once I've made the changes but it seems a bit hacky. Is there any easy way to edit these variables permanently using php? Cheers

  Hello guys, i want to create a text field that will be for date and will have dd.mm.YYYY format. Now what i want to do is the user to type only the numbers, not the dots to. So the field would be like: _ _. _ _ . _ _ _ _ So when the user wants to type the date: 15.05.2010 for example, he will only type the numbers in the sequence 15052010. Also i would like, when he preses on left or right arrow, the cursor to go from one field(not JTextField, but field in the JTextField). So lets say i have JTextField with text in it: 15.05.2010, so if user is on the beginning and he preses right arrow, the cursor to go to the .05 field. I hope you understand me 'cos right now i don't any idea how to make this, or at least how to look for it on google. Thank you.

  Hello, I have a UserMailer View that has several link_to's like so: <%= link_to('XXXXXXXX Link Title', item_url(@item, :only_path => false), :style => 'color:#5196E3;text-decoration:underline;') %> The page has several different links. I'd like to know if there is a way to globally set in the view to enable or disable the links. If enabled, the above would run like normal, if not the block above would just show the text (XXXXXXXX Link Title) and not be linked? Any ideas other than wrapping every link_to inside a IF statement? Thanks

• How do you set the "global delimiter" in Excel using VBA (or unicorns)?

  I've noticed that if I use the text-to-columns feature with comma as the delimiter, any comma-delimited data I paste into Excel after that will be automatically split into columns. This makes me think Excel must have some kind of global delimiter. If this is true, how would I set this global delimiter using Excel VBA? Is it possible to do this directly, or do I need to "trick" Excel by doing a text-to-columns on some junk data, then delete the data? My ultimate goal is to be able to paste in a bunch of data from different files using a macro, and have Excel automatically split it into columns according to the delimiter I set.

• How could I stop PHP from returning headers when executed from commandline?

  This may be a ridiculous question, but it's been bothering me for a while. I have a mail forwarder piped to a PHP script, it receives perfectly, however I have the following error mailed back to me instantly: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: pipe to |/home/[webroot]/public_html/external/mobile/email.php generated by mobile@[mydomain] The following text was generated during the delivery attempt: X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.13 Content-type: text/html As you can see, Exim thinks the header response an error from the script I have. The script can receive the Email perfectly from php://stdin but Exim is quick-replying with the error. Plus, It's running from console, not Apache so HTAccess or configuring Apache most likely would do nothing. I can not find any solution, or anyone with the same problem. So my question is: How to I get rid of those two headers? Thanks, ~Jonny

• Unicode and PHP - am I doing something wrong?

  I'm using Kohana 3, which has full support for Unicode. I have this as the first child of my <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> The Unicode character I am inserting into is é as in Café. However, I am getting the triangle with a ? (as in could not decode character). As far as I can tell in my own code, I am not doing any string manipulation on the text. In fact, I have placed the accent straight into a view's PHP file and it is still not working. I copied the character from this page: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/00e9/index.htm I've only just started examining PHP's Unicode limitations, so I could be doing something horribly wrong. So, how do I display this character? Do I need to resort to the HTML entity?

  I have a django project that uses a sqlite database that can be written to by an external tool. The text is supposed to be UTF-8, but in some cases there will be errors in the encoding. The text is from an external source, so I cannot control the encoding. Yes, I know that I could write a "wrapping layer" between the external source and the database, but I prefer not having to do this, especially since the database already contains a lot of "bad" data. The solution in sqlite is to change the text_factory to something like: lambda x: unicode(x, "utf-8", "ignore") However, I don't know how to tell the Django model driver this.

• Trying to filter a ListView with runQueryOnBackgroundThread but nothing happens - what am I missing?

  I have a list of countries in a database. I have created a select country activity that consists of a edit box for filtering and a list which displays the flag and country name. When the activity starts the list shows the entire list of countries sorted alphabetically - works fine. When the customer starts typing into the search box I want the list to be filtered based on their typing. My database query was previously working in an AutoCompleteView (I just want to switch to a separate text box and list) so I know my full query and my constraint query are working. What I did was add a TextWatcher to the EditText view and every time the text is changed I invoke the list's SimpleCursorAdapter runQueryOnBackgroundThread with the edit boxes text as the constraint. The trouble is the list is never updated. I have set breakpoints in the debugger and the TextWatcher does make the call to runQueryOnBackgroundThread and my FilterQueryProvider is called with the expected constraint. The database query goes fine and the cursor is returned.   I'm trying to view the text of HTML files in a reasonable way. After I remove all of the markup and retain only the visible text, I obtain a String that looks something like this: \n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n \n Title here \n\n\n \n\n \n\n Menu Item 1 \n\n \n\n Menu Item 2 \n\n\n \n\n you get the point. I would like to use String.replaceAll(String regex, String regex) to replace any whitespace substring that contains more than two occurances of \n with "\n\n". Any ideas?

• iPhone: Setting Navigation Bar Title

  Hey all. I'm still pretty new to iPhone development, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to change the title of my Navigation Bar. On another question on this site somebody recommended using : viewController.title = @"title text"; but that isn't working for me...Do I need to add a UINavigationController to accomplish this? Or maybe just an outlet from my UIViewController subclass? If it helps, I defined the navigation bar in IB and I'm trying to set its title in my UIViewController subclass. This is another one of those simple things that gives me a headache. Putting self.title = @"title text"; in viewDidLoad and initWithNibName didn't work either. Anybody know what's happening and how to get it happening right? Thanks!

• IE not blocking javascript

  It seems that IE8 defers javascript, but also doesn't block. I've setup a test environment to prove this. Here's the html page(replace 192.168.1.xxx with your server): <html> <head> <title>IE Pains</title> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://192.168.1.xxx/ietest/js.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> scream('hello world'); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> And the js File: function scream( str ) { alert( str ); } Am I seeing this wrong, or does IE not recognize the scream function because it hasn't finished loading js.js?

• Displaying current time above the thumb of a slider in Silverlight

  I've made a time slider in Silverlight. To style it, I've made a control template and modified the style. I've added a text field above the thumb (always centered above the thumb), which should display the time. However, I can't find any way to access the slider information (e.g. current value) or find another way to pass any information to the style, which I can then data bind to the text field. So my question in short: how can I display time information above the thumb?
